In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Hi Paula, I hope your traveling was for fun and not for work.

Are you still doing nights?

Hope you have an easy day at work.

Happy to report that I am done with nights for a long time! Whoo to the hoo!!!!

Plus, I am only in the office for two days this week as I am off to Vegas on Thursday for my friend Tom's wedding and a much needed vacation. Right now my plans for the weekend consist of sitting by the pool and a biking trip through Red Rock Canyon. Just what I need - a weekend of doing nothing.

Ok - off to work for me.

Paula I am so happy to read this. You SOOOO need this break
ENJOY

Kat & Amiee Have a great time at WDW. Can't wait for TR or maybe even Life Trip Reports, with tips on what I should do when I go in Feb.

Tuesday. YUCK. Work is just YUCK. and I am still in a mood about my 5K
I have been very snappish...here is what I have come up with...

my brain does not know how to look at the bright side when it comes to myself. I tell my brain WOW butter pants, you did a 40 min 5K, 4 months ago that 5K was 53min. Great Job... My brain says back.... "No FATTY you have to do 10 more miles with that 5K and its too hard. You are going to go to the 1/2 and be a fool, waste money, it just too hard." So then I shut my brain up with some form of bad food. Like breakfast today wheat bagel and tea.

Issues, I know I have Issues......

Today was back-to-school day for my kids. It's Nate's *last* first day of school :sad1:<sniff sniff> I made the kids stop for pictures before they left this morning. They really weren't amused

That sounds wonderful Paula. I'm going to live vicariously thru you on that trip, okay? :upsidedow

Issues, I know I have Issues......

:rotfl2: Welcome to the club, Jo. (cue Liz and the crazy train )

I have arguments with myself all the time, especially while running. My grumpy brain will be screaming "this is stupid. Are we there yet? I wanna stop" and my happy (hah. dopey? ) brain will say "I don't care. Shut up and do it". I have run 1 full marathon, 3 half marathons and countless 5K and 10K races. I still have to play mental games with myself to shut off that nasty little voice in my head every single time that I go for a run.

And you HAVE made awesome progress. You know you have. So tell that lil' voice to f-off!

Thanks Nancy, I am glad I am not alone. I was wondering what you ladies would think of "me talking to my brain" when I posted this
:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Hello Ladies.
Nancy & Erika, how are you holding up with back to school week.

Meg, how do you feel

Kat & Amiee & Paula I am sure you all are ready to leave :cool1:

Lisa, You are Missed:love:

Kelly, Ronda I hope all is well

Tonight was run club 1 mile warn up
1.75 miles on the track Run the Straights and Walk the Curve
Then BLEACHERS.... I was doing good and having a good time until I started the Bleachers, then all of a sudden a got a major pressure headache in the back of my right side of my head. YUCK, I think it was partly pushing myself, the heat, and lack of food. (last time I eat was a yogurt at 3:00)
So on the way home I got some Chocolate Milk and I feel better.

Off to bed

Wowza! Quiet here today. First day of school for us here. Hotter than freakin' haedes and of course no a/c in our schools. It's not normally this crazy hot! Actually, the weatherman said this morning we've had almost double our normal number of days over 90* and we're in for at least 2 more this week.

As for my day? My workout was decent, my water intake was decent, I had no alcohol and my food was very good. Well, that is until I made pesto. Oh.my.GOD. was it amazing. I had no pine nuts, or walnuts- so I used roasted pumpkin seeds.

Erika - how is Middle School treating Riley?

Paula - it's Tuesday night. How was dinner?

EE - do you leave tomorrow? Thursday?

Kat- you leave soon too, yes?

Meg - how are you feeling since your run?

Lisa, Ronda - missing you guys! Hope all is well!

Hello ladies.

I've been feeling a bit under the weather again. A little cough here and there and also extremely tired. (Though being tired could be due to the insane heat we're suddenly having.) So the past two days my routine has been work, exercise, lay on the couch till bed. I'm sure I just need a little more time to recover.

I realized I never shared here that I did a 5k on Sunday morning(though I did post about it on facebook.) I told myself I wasn't going to worry about how fast I was going because I am getting over the whooping cough and I was out till 1am at the bars the night before. (Not drinking but it was my cousin's 21st birthday so I really couldn't skip.) I had to take a few walk breaks or as I called them, cough breaks, and ended up with a time of 32:01. I am very pleased with myself considering this had been what I was running when I was healthy. So I have a feeling when I get healthy again I can really cut my time down some. I was worried my legs would be tired because I've missed a lot of running due to the coughs, they felt great but of course by the end of the day I was just ready to sleep. But it felt good to be out racing again.

Sounds like everyone is busy with back to school things, work or vacation preparation. (The last one sounds the best to me.) I hope you all are gearing up for a great long weekend.

Off to bed, night all!

Oh edited to add this because you guys are the only people I feel comfortable sharing this with. I've been working at my goal to do a race a month and I've taken at least one pictures of myself at every race. When I was posting the most recent pictures I was blown away to see how different I look each month that passes. I started in March and I can almost not believe that it's me. It was great motivation to drop these last unwanted pounds!

Really? Seriously? wow.

Freakin' hot here again. This is NOT normal New England weather. Finally common sense prevailed, and they cancelled sports after school today. One more day of the heat wave, then it's hurricane Earl. <sigh>

so back to the whole weight-loss/healthy lifestyle theme. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Quinoa recipe that they care to share?

I think I'm melting! I love New England weather... today its 100 and in a week it could be 60.

So my cough is back, though not as bad. And I'm still struggling to breath at times. The doctor may have been right the first time and it's asthma. I'm still trying to decide if I call her or wait to see what could happen.

Hows everyone handling back to school time? Or are all us east coasters too busy preparing for Earl to think about back to school? lol

Meg, I am worried. Please forgive me for butting in.. But maybe you should get a second option. Did they do the chest x ray?? wtih Asthma I just don't think it would come on all of a sudden like it seems to. I hope you are better soon. We have a 1/2 to train for!!!

I hope Eral says away ladies.

Kat, Paula, Amiee, have you all left. Drink for me please

Hi Kelly hope you are well.

Nancy, YAY for no sports. Sorry about your heat. Sweat away the lbs!!:rotfl2:

Ronda, Lisa Hope you are well

Oh, I forgot to post my workout

3 miles last night in 42 mins

That is 6 miles in 2 days. :yay:

I am going to try for 5 this weekend, but that has to be on the Treadmill so we will see

Jo you are not butting in! Plus if you are I probably need to hear what you have to say, I'm horrible when it comes to all things doctors. They did a chest x-ray and it came out fine. The antibiotics did help because I'm not still doubled over coughing ever day but I'm still coughing every day which is annoying.

Don't worry this won't keep me from training. I plan on buying my 2011 date book soon so I can write out my training schedule. Yes, I keep a date book with my training schedule. It helps me stay on track and when I make other plans it helps me to figure out how to work my runs in. My friends at work think I'm crazzzzzzy.

And you're doing awesome with your runs! I have so much confidence in your ability to train for and run the Princess!

Ok off to make myself lunch for today. This is my last day with this group of kids before they move into the preschool room. Tomorrow is cleaning day at school. Have a great one everyone!

Meg, Have a good day at school today

Kat, have you used the compression sleeves yet?
My shins hurt a little after 2 days in a row, I am wondering if that is something to invest in?

Also this may be TMI but can anyone recommend underwear that will not hold sweat? I know gross right. Sorry.

At the airport getting ready to board. I am finally on vacation!!!! Whoo hoo!!!

I'll try to check in while I am out there.

Go team! Get those miles in.

Jo- I'm an under armor junkie. Really, I need a 12 step program. I wear their thongs to run in or even on really hot days. They have thongs, bikini and then like the boy cut styles in amazing colors. I try to pick mine up at the outlet or on amazon if they're on sale.

Paula- Have a blast!

Just found out hockey starts back up tonight. I'm nervous!

I know. It's freakin' ridiculous!

I'm with Jo. I don't understand how Asthma would just suddenly *happen* like that. Doesn't make sense to me. And if antibiotics helped, that would indicate that there was some kind of infection. Antibiotics aren't going to help asthma. Whooping cough is nasty crap. That's why they vaccinate for it. One round of antibiotics may have helped knock it down, but I would expect it to take more than that to completely eliminate it. I'd call the doctor and insist on having more tests done.

Oh, now there's something I'm not helpful with! I sweat like there is no tomorrow. I'm an all-cotton fan myself. But I may have to look into the underarmour that Meg suggested.

Enjoy Paula! :goodvibes

Kelly and Lisa - I thought of you 2 this morning when Micheal Buble came on the radio:laughing:

I hope everyone has a great day! I'm off to attempt to make a Quinoa Salad. Wish me luck:upsidedow

I used them last weekend and I LOVE them. LOVE. If you get them from runningwarehouse.com, use code WISHD and they will be $30 for the pair. I would recommend the S/M or maybe even the XS, as they seem to run a bit big.

I buy regular microfiber underwear, which seems to do fine. I hate cotton.

So far in the weeds here that I can't even express it.
