In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Lisa- First... your mom is beautiful, so are you, you are her daughter at least in that respect.

You have a lot on your plate right now and I could say a lot but I will just share that I admire you. You handle things with such strength and you are amazing. I wish I was better with words tonight but I'm sending lots of love your way.

:goodvibes I couldn't agree more.

Lisa - nothing but prayers and positive thoughts headed your way. My father has had some fairly significant heart surgery twice in the last 3 years. It is hard. And frightening. But, again, for him it was oh so worth it.

In over my head this week with the kids and their 4H fair stuff. Becca is on the verge of a melt down over her cake that isn't cooperating. I would so much prefer to have the a/c off, but the child needs the climate control for her icing. This cake is either going to be a masterpiece or a colossal flop. we'll know on Friday :crazy2:

I was looking for a specific picture today and came across some photos of me when I was about 7-8 lbs lighter than I am right now. 7 or 8 pounds doesn't really sound like that much, but I do not feel at all like I looked in those pictures. I must get back on track soon

<sigh>

Morning All

Meg, I hope you feel better. Can't wait for your TR!!

Nancy, Crossing my fingers that the cake turns out.

Paula, I hope you did get some rest!

No workout for me yesterday, tonight is run club and so far out weather has been good. I hope to do 3 maybe 4 miles tongiht???

I didn't sleep well last night. I woke up around 3:15 and my brain just wouldn't shut down. Frustrating. I'm looking forward to a much needed bike ride this morning. My body needs it both mentally and physically! My body also is really craving predictability. I so, so need to get back to a normal life pattern. Next week. After this whole 4H Fair thing has passed....

Nancy, So sorry your are have a rough week.
Enjoy your bike ride. only 3 more days til 4H is over. Sending you a big hug and well wishes. :grouphug:

Ladies,
Next week is the 6 month mark for the princess. I anyone interesed in making an ADR for after the race? Or before?
I plan to fly in on Friday morning and home Monday moring.

Goodness, what a refreshing couple of days. The temps dropped by 20 degrees. It's starting to creep up again, but it's not going to be 100! Sweet. I've been getting my runs in and riding my bike to work. Really on top of my exercise game. We had friends over for a fish fry last weekend. Oh, let's make hush puppies, too. I am still feeling the effects of that deep fried extravaganza. I took solace in the roasted green beans. We tried.

Nancy - this is the water park cake? I hope it and Becca hold together. Looking forward to pictures. Never considered the temps when working with fondant. Now I have the urge to bake and ice something.

Paula - I hope things are leveling out. I worked the graveyard shift (Kinko's) for a while. Very tough to be healthy. I think about you on my little rides to work. What's this weekend?

Meg - Dang on the asthma. Good luck with the doc.

Jo - So cool about the run club. It's good to have peeps!

Lisa - love the picture of your parents. I'm always taken by the photos of our elders in their prime. So full of vitality and promise. The choices for your mom's care are agonizing. The surgery is rough and recovery long. That they all want it is a good thing.

You have successfully booked your Walt Disney World® vacation online. Booked room only for marathon weekend. It's the only refundable thing I can do. But it's something to make it real. I'm not yet registered for the race. Marathon is 65% full. I'm not worried about it filling up. I'm worried about the 20 miler Thanksgiving weekend.

DGF and I need to take a week off. Soon.

Ronda

Hi Ronda,
I did not know you are planning to do the FULL. OMG I am so so so happy for you. WOW, what a difference a year makes.

And I noticed your ticker, You are getting closer to your 600 mile mark.

You are an inspiration. Thank You!!

Jo- I've registered for the Princess but my plans are so up in the air. There's a chance my whole family will come down and we'll stay for a week, it depends on if we can swing a deal. If they don't I have to decide about staying off property and inviting someone to stay with me or on property maybe alone. I don't know my plans are all up in the air but as soon as I figure things out I'd be happy to talk ADRs.

Ronda- Isn't it nice to have some plans made? How exciting to be doing the full, lets hope the weather is better this year then last!

Nancy- I always hate baking in extreme heat, things never seem to work the way I want them to but it always seems to work out in the end. Hopefully the water park cake turns out well.

I talked to my doctor today. Originally she thought my cough/asthma was due to an allergy, after talking to me today she thinks I have just asthma. She has prescribed a new inhaler with steroids that I will take twice a day instead of the one I take now as needed. (As needed being all day really.) If that doesn't work by Friday I'm supposed to call her for chest x-rays. I'm going to try a light run tonight on the treadmill so if the cough gets to be too much I'm at home and not out on the roads. Lets hope this new prescription helps. Asthma was not the diagnoses I wanted to hear.

Meg, sorry about what the doc said. Have you always had trouble breathing or is this only the past few weeks? Either way I hope the meds work.

YAY for registering. I know the 1/2 is far off, I am just in planning mode (rather than work mode) :lmao:

Football again tonight, but at least it's extremely comfortable. :cool1: Had an under 200 calorie dinner featuring shirataki, veggies, & a black bean veggie burger. Yummy!

I have the most adorable little fondant people in my fridge right now, riding in chocolate boats. There will most definitely be pictures.

Stephen & I ran the full a couple years ago. All that training definitely made for a bit of a different holiday season for me. But I don't regret a single minute of it. Completing that 26.2 miles was an accomplishment I will never forget.

:hug:I hope you get it figured out soon Meg!

finally! :goodvibes

bah. JO - I lost your quote. And now I've completely forgotten what I was going to say.

Guys - thanks so much. I had just heard the news when I posted and I was a mess. I was fighting with the transplant team at the same time because they're crazy makers (Last time not one issue - this is a different hospital). You know when you say A they say M - you try to understand M and they sneak back to A and your head hurts. :lmao: Did anyone follow? :rotfl2:

With my mom that night I think I was already seeing her gone in some ways. Whether it's from the operation or where the Alzheimer's has taken her. But that's silly - she's still here. It's easy to focus that death or advanced dementia is coming soon when you're overwhelmed. She's still here.

Nancy and Jo - isn't it something what they do - just something. Jo she's 74. And another good point - strong heart. It's just the aortic valve that is causing the need for the surgery to be done pronto.

Megan - eek. Hope you get some answers soon.

I must go - Jean is watching Nancy Grace - I can hear her loud voice and I'm scared. :lmao::rotfl: Why is she watching that? :rotfl2:

I can't even imagine running a full marathon. WOW. :worship:

Oh and Nancy - I forgot to tell you this a couple of weeks ago - OF COURSE I sing along!!!:goodvibes

And I have a funny cake story for you.

 Lisa

I prefer to watch anything other than Nancy Grace.

She's now switched over to Dead Calm she tells me - which is a great film. Early Nicole Kidman - beautiful Billy Zane. Water, boats, mayhem. Jean scares easily too. Good luck to her. :rotfl2: popcorn::

Hi Amiee. :lovestruc WDW is coming soon, eh?

just a drop in before bed

3 miles done and I did 14 min miles

that is 2 short runs for the week. Long Run on Fri or Sat.

It is absolutley amazing! My dad turned 73 this year. He had his first procedure when he was 70. He goes to the gym 3 or 4 days of the week now and does his thing. Doin' great! (although Mom wishes he would ease up a bit sometimes )

I can't even imagine running a full marathon. WOW. :worship:

You really could do it Lisa. If it was something you decided you wanted, and set your mind to it. I have no doubt that you would do it!

:rotfl2: Can't wait for the cake story! I'm going to take some "prior to final assmebly" pictures tonight

Two weeks from tomorrow!! Getting very excited.

:yay::yay::yay:

Awesome Jo!!!:thumbsup2 I thought about running today. Then I decided against it  Biking again instead :)

Nancy, Glad your getting out for a bike ride, I don't bike, unless you count riding very slow around out block with Alaina on her kitty bike! :lmao:

I love love love biking.

Just thought I would share - down 8 lbs since the first of the month.
