In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Hi Paula. :surfweb: Swung through Binghampton - I'm now doing the Catskills route . We swing down at Syracuse instead of going over to Albany and down. Otherwise, Hi Paula and Paula's Mom and Dad and cutie #2. Oh and my nephew. I forgot Mr. California. :rotfl2:. But he was at home anyway.

Nancy, I totally forgot about Erin when I came back on. You know what I really have this feeling like it's good in the end. I don't know why. I just got that feeling as I was reading. Weird. If she does her house - is it far from you?

But holy cow, eh? Geez.

OMG - Love that quote and yes, it totally sums up the financial aid process.

we really never fight. But OMG were the f-bombs flying tonight.:lmao: So so irritating. And really, what we were doing should have been fairly easy. But oh no. Apparently I wasn't being clear when I asked for certain numbers. Or perhaps it was because he was more focused on the football game....:confused3. OY. Seriously - I asked him the same question AT LEAST 1/2 dozen times. And it wasn't a tricky one. At all.

Can't wait to get home tomorrow... I miss my own place and my own bed...

:cloud9: Having a "wizard of oz" moment now....there's no place like home ....

Have a safe trip back tomorrow Paula!

Lisa - we were so close! The next time you drive south we MUST get together. Binghamton is two hours away. Easily drivable to meet you. Just keep that in mind for your next trip.

Thanks Nancy. I am clicking my heels and yet I am still here. Sighing... Hope the conversation is getting better. At least football is over in a few short weeks right?

Just catching up after being offline all day.

LISA! My Lisa! You're here! Now we just need to get the Cutie back....:lovestruc Plot with me, eh? We'll find a way. Kids wrote you thanks yous...I just haven't mailed them yet!

PRd my 4-miler today. 4.11 miles in 37:33. So the running is going spectacularly well. The rest? eh Not so much.

Have a great week-end!

Off to read Lisa's TR!

Thanks Cathie.

I must type so dramatically. :rotfl2: I must. Lord I must stop that. Thanks Cathie. I didn't mean the world. At all. I meant I wanted a few moments to pretend that it "that situation" wasn't so.....

I'm so sorry about business. Really, it seemed like it was giving you - besides the everyday business stress - great joy. Here's to getting back soon.

I think it's possible that I just read dramatically haha. And I was projecting my own experiences on that a little too...it always has made me want to hide from the world

 any way (non dramatic ones! lol)

I really was getting into my cake business, it was really taking off. But I think it was a blessing in disguise cuz I kept getting sick and the doctor was worried about my blood pressure and that I didn't take any down time for myself. This (whatever it is) going on with my body really has forced me to do that.

Read this in the fitness blog I have been following in my local paper and loved it. I thought I would share. It was written by a guy in Georgia who owns his own fitness studio and has successfully conquered his own weight problem. In the words of the blogger I follow - he totally walks the walk.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

“If you take a layer off a roll of paper towels, you won’t see the difference. Even if you take 3 layers off, you won’t see much of a difference. But if you keep taking off layers, all of a sudden the roll WILL look smaller. Your fat loss journey is the same. Stay the course. Keep working hard…one layer at a time.” – Mikey

That is SO freakin' awesome :cool1: Totally rockin' the runs goddess style!

I, on the other hand, had the most mentally challenging run yesterday. It was awful. I had my session w/ Erin (30 minutes of upper body insanity. Seriously - "rent a friend"? She's more like rent-a-torture ;)) then I was to run 3 miles. Just 3. Three little teensy miles. No big deal, right? Huge deal. I fought with myself the entire time. 29:51 of mental anguish. I HATE runs like that. Today is rest day, tomorrow I'm scheduled for 8. Of course it snowed here Friday night and last night too, so the roads are snowy, not much of a shoulder to speak of....I may end up with all 8 inside :headache: Talk about mental anguish! :crazy2:

Oh Paula! I absolutely LOVE that. Stay the course, one layer at a time. LOVE it. Thank you for sharing.

Last night was Chinese food. And wine. Today is b-l-o-a-t :scared1: OMG puffy. Ah, the price I pay when I decide to play. Today is right back at it diet-wise, with tons of water to flush my system because tomorrow morning is weigh-in for me.

Hey everyone, just wanted to stop in and say hi since it's been forever since I had the chance to get online. Congrats to everyone that did race this weekend, I look forward to joining y'all next year for the half.

I'm probably gonna sign up for my first 5k in March, so good times.

Just a drop in post..

I just did 9 miles. but I walked most of mile 7 -9
My feet hurt.

Kat, tell me agian what shoe you use, I just got mine on runningwearhouse,
its just my left foot.

Ok off to shower.

Hello!!!

I finally changed my password successfully (and saved it). Dinner is stewing away in the crock pot (Chicken Cacciatore with zuchinni, squash, celery, onion, carrots, shrooms, and crushed tomatoes). Needless to say, the house smells awesome. I did 5 miles this morning in the freezing cold and shopped a bit.

I haven't caught up at all, but it looks like I have a TR to visit!

Happy New Year and welcome back Rob! :goodvibes

So, you're looking to do your first 5k. I love it! I take it that your walking has been going well?

Yay on the 9 miles Jo! :woohoo: Sorry about the feet. I know we've asked probably a zillion times. Did you get your shoes fitted by an expert or did you choose them yourself (not judging - I've done both myself - just asking because I've found it makes a difference!) also - what kind of socks?

hello  Glad you got your password figured out there Amiee! We've missed you!

Dinner sounds yummy Amiee, Mine was Beef Stew in the crocpot.

Rob, Yay on the 5K. My fist one was this past April. I was a bit nervous, but loved every min. of it.

Nancy, on my shoes.. In July I went to a run store and I was fitted for Saucony (spelling that wrong) I went last month to get a new pair, they put me in Nike Zoom? something @$120, but when I ran on the treadmill they made my feet fall asleep. So I retuned them, I went to runningwearhouse and I got the same Saucony pair that I had, but in pink.
Evey time I wear them I have in issue with my left foot. I thought I just needed to break them in.

What do you think? Should I try yet another pair????

I know I should be happy about doing 9 miles, but the last 3 were so bad. I a bit in the dumps about doing 13

I'm home!!!!! Yeah!!!!

Can't tell you how happy I am to be back. I feel gross from eating out for an entire weekend. Hello bloat. Can't wait to get to the gym tomorrow and start working off the water. For now, back to work on the report I am doing for Monday morning.

Rob - yeah on the 5k!

Jo - you may want to look at socks. I know once I went over the 8 mile mark, I had to change out my socks as the ones I originally went with just weren't cutting it anymore. Good luck and you CAN do this!

Thanks Nancy!

I agree with Paula on the socks. I lost 2 toenails due to bad socks (in part).

Watching Super Size Me. Wow!

Hey ladies, I'm back from Vermont. Hit another snow storm on the way home but this time it only took me four hours to get home as opposed to five and a half. The weekend was amazing, we're talking about me going up there the last weekend this month and he'll come home the weekend before Valentine's Day for his niece's birthday/to spend the weekend together. I want to share so much about my weekend and catch up with everyone but I'm wiped out.

Lisa!!!! Hi!!! I just wanted to say hi for now.

ah Monday. What a cruel day. :sad2:

Shush Erika. I know that you adore Mondays!

I weighed in this morning. I'm down 2 pounds. Not that excited about it. I know I had a TON of holiday bloat. I guess I was hoping it was more bloat and less, um, me? :confused3

So. After a brief re-assessment of my actions vs. expectations, I'm ready to face this new week. I'm headed out for my 8 mile run - another indoor/outdoor split, I think. Although, the wind is pretty strong this morning, so we'll see. Partly I keep telling myself to suck it up and do it, because if it's cold and windy on the morning of the Princess, no one from Disney is going to say "that's ok, go back to the hotel and run it on the TM and a CM will be there waiting for you with your medal" :upsidedow

Besides. Wind=resistance=more calories burned :thumbsup2

oh great. The weatherman just said the windchill temps are in the single digits. Whee. 2*. I'll have to make a decision soon.

Body Glide.

Seems like a random thought- but I just threw it back into my gym bag. :upsidedow

Hi Gang!

Jo - could be socks, could be shoes. Write down what you are feeling. Chart it. Also, are you alternating shoes? Because shoes need recovery time, too! :-)

Nancy - I think 2lbs is GREAT!!!! :cool1:

But it's fairly colder this AM then it ever would be for the Princess, you know? You could stay inside and not get sick, IMO. :goodvibes

I gained this week. I'm so up. It was such a hard week last week, emotionally. I am heavy and untrained and not ready at all for this half...or maybe my whole life. Yeah, little discouraged this morning!

I am in Asics Gel-2150. However, I need a stability shoe as I overpronate like crazy.

What kind of shoes did they have you in? From what I understand, the make/model is your preference, but the kind of shoe is what is important (neutral, stablility, etc.).

Also, I need cushiony socks. The more cushion the better, otherwise I get blisters.

 I feel untrained and not ready either. We will make it through together, I promise!!

Third undertrained person checking in! We will all make it! :goodvibes

I did lose 3 point something pounds from Monday last week. I am weighing in on friday. Actually 8 pounds down if you count my weight from the previous friday but I don't since so much of that was water retention from eating MIL's sodium laden food. OMG she uses adolf's meat tenderizer like there is no tomorrow. :scared1:

Weekend was pretty lame, other than Bunco on friday night where I won $50 dollars (and put in a nice training session for the drinking portion of princess weekend :drinking1 :drinking1) and a nice trail walk with the family on Saturday. A slow walk due to Delena picking up acorns every 2 feet but I did carry J Cash in the bjorn so it was a decent work out.

Jo- Kat is right. what type of shoes do they have you in? You might want to be checked again. Maybe you are wearing the wrong type. I need the stability shoes too. I have worn the Asic 2100 series and am now just trying the Asic Kayano's.

Miles and core planned for today. So unhappy with my abs right now. UGH.
