In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Jo, please follow the doctor's advice. Believe me, I understand wanting to run anyhow. I did it for the better part of a few months, and wound up in a cast.

Meg, about the work issues. I am not having a very good time of it myself lately, either.

Nancy Kat, I just logged back on to the boards because I am near tears.
I just keep trying to tell myself, if I can get 4 miles in then go up 2 miles a week and do not taper I should be ok right?????

That is why I called the doc back, so I can get the right meds.

Nancy that -18 was with the wind chil, like today they say high of 20 but with the wind chil its like 3.

Jo - I think the windchill got down to zero last weekend. I've set a mid-teens limit for running outside, either air temp or wind chill. I've been moving some of my runs to mid-morning/lunch to get warmer temps to work with. No one ever held a race on a treadmill ; ) Hang in there. You're not going back to the beginning.

Meg - hugs on the job stress. The man gets at least half of our waking hours. The emotional investment and potential toll can be huge. If it's bad, it hurts. Don't deny that its effects, but recognize it's separate from YOU.

Nancy - great on the run! Great for Nate. It is cool to see they want him in writing. Vicarious sugar rush... what kind of cookies?

DGF's work group is having their annual holiday lunch this afternoon. After that I'm running errands. New pair of glasses - use that FSA money! I need some Club Penguin GCs for niece and nephew.

I continuie to make plans for our WDW trip in March. I love the idea of renting DVC points, but the spectre of losing the money if something comes up is enough to disuade me. We're booked at Bonnet Creek, 2BR for 1/3 less and I can cancel. We give up EMH, but the hours are so long during the peak periods, it doesn't seem like a big loss. We are going to do Discovery Cove, too. I've read a little about it, but there's a big knowledge gap!

Ronda

Ronda, Discovery Cove, is that where you can swim with the dolphins???

So Jealous....

By the way I love love love my new shoes for runningwearhouse.com ( I still need to try them on a long run)
They were only $64!!!!, they are the same ones I had before but in Pink.
I know Kat, too much Pink...:lmao: I think its the fact I have 2 girls that makes me like the pink..

Also Nancy I don't think I ever answered you about the 13.1 socks.
I do like the alot, I got size M, cuz they said small was 6-8, med 8.5-10 or something like that. I am an 8.5 so I did not want the to be tight they are a little big, but I still like them, They are Pink to go with my Pink Shoes.
Ok laughing at myself now!!:rotfl2:

Hi everyone!

God help him. :rotfl2:;)
Mother Country Kelly - I need to read a post of yours. How are liking the change in WW? I'm very curious.

Im loving the change in WW! At first I was a little unsure, with doing it the old way for so long but now im into it its great. Theres much more freedom - for example, I can treat myself to an Indian meal without going into my daily points!

Paula, Nancy.... drum roll please......
I did an hour SPIN CLASS!!!! OMG.. My butt... thats all I need to say
:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Ive always wanted to try a spin class but I think it would be the end of me! DH used to teach spinning classes when he worked at a gym!

Oh. I nearly forgot to mention some really fun stuff.

First, Becca had her choral concert tonight. She totally rocks, that kid. :lovestruc Tomorrow she needs to be at school at 5:30 am :scared1:. Previously we were told 4:30 am, but they got a reprieve :woohoo:. Our high school is being featured on a "Cool Schools" segment of the morning news and the Chamber Singers (the elite choral group) will be performing live somewhere in the 6:00am range.

And, Nate got his first college acceptance letter the other day. Don't know if he'll choose to attend this one, but it's always great to know that somebody wants you to come to their school :goodvibes

And, Saturday Seth comes home :thumbsup2

Awesome! congratulations to Becca on her concert and tv debut, congratulations to Nate on his college acceptance - having it in writing is great!

So glad Seth is coming home :thumbsup2

I'm trying so hard not to rant about work. It's at least once a day now that I have to remind myself that I'm not rich nor is my family and I can't afford to quit till I get another job. (Unless anyone wants to take me in.) I'm exhausted, sick and totally run down and they know they can work me to the bone. Did I mention our Christmas party was tonight and I almost walked out of it?

I just keep telling myself I love the holidays, don't let this get me down. I love the holidays.

Sorry about the job stress Meg, hang in there

Kelly, Are you frozen to the road :rotfl2: , hope you are well

Well the snow and ice finally cleared at the end of last week.....just in time for the second big freeze! :scared1: Its forecast to get as low as -15c tonight and they think there will be snow again

Jo - Listen to the doctor!

Rob - Im Kelly, but I answer to pretty much anything!

Kat - How are you doing with the cast?

Paula, E, EE, Liz, everyone - Hi! :cool2:

I forgot to post my weigh in results - I was down 0.5lbs, which puts me 2.5lbs away from goal! So close!

Hope everyone is having a great day :upsidedow

Hi gang! Just back from the World and cruise! FUN (of course!) but COLD in the Bahamas. I don't mind when it is chilly for park touring (actually prefer to park tour when it isn't super hot, so that was fine). BUT...the Bahamas? I want hot sun and umbrella drinks!

Will work on my TR over the next few days and start posting!

Quick highlights/notables--MVMCP was GREAT. Definitely worth it. Osborne Lights were the best I have ever seen them! Epcot was not nearly decorated well enough for Christmas, though the Christmas topiaries were really nice. We saw the Christmas displays in Saratoga (nothing special), Boardwalk and Beach Club (each were very good). VERY, very crowded for this time of year. It used to be that early and mid-December (anything before the 15th) was a great time of year to visit. Not anymore. That secret is out. Character lines everywhere were the longest I have ever seen. Maybe because people wanted the characters in all of their holiday wear? Not sure. We didn't stand in any of the long lines. For us, a character line has to be 10 minutes or less. We won't wait longer than that at this point (as we have everyone by this point). We did get two new characters this trip--Princess Tiana and Lotso.

Our itinerary was:

Th - MK for the Christmas Party
Fri - DHS
Sat - Ecpot
Sun - Weds - Cruise
Th-Fri - downtime at the Boardwalk and then home.

Ok, details to follow...

Happy Saturday All
I went back to the doctors today, I had to do a chest xray this time, They gave me a new antibiotic and prednisone I have not coughed since I have taken it :yay::yay::yay:
I did not run today, going to try tomorrow.
This could be the start of me better!!!:yay::yay::yay:

6 miles done..I went to the gym I did 4 on the treadmill 2 on the indoor track
It was not pretty but done and i am very happy

Nice job, Jo! How did you feel?

I'm here - eating, drinking and being merry :goodvibes. House full of kids. I cooked a big breakfast and over indulged in bacon :rolleyes1 How I love bacon :lovestruc Food of the Gods, I tell you

Jo - Great run! Good for you.

Nancy - Enjoy the full house! Sounds of life!

Welcome back E! Sounds like a wonderful time. Tell us all about it!

Kelly - So close. Good for you!

I ran 9 miles Saturday morning. DGF has some hip pain and didn't go along this week. It was cold... 24*? Science moment: wicking works... When I removed my vest post-run I found the upper half of the back was wet. Water beaded up on the outside of the fleece. The wet pattern seemed to match my bra. From the bra, to the tech tee, to the vest. Water moved out! I know that's what they say it does, but it was really cool.

We had our annual cookie decorating party this weekend. Lots of sugar and gingerbread cookies left the house! The rest go to work tomorrow.

Hope everyone is getting ready for a good week.

Ronda

Kelly- So close to goal, you can do it!!!

Jo- Glad you got the run in. But remember to listen to your body. I learned the hard way after my little procedure that you don't want to push to hard. I want you there with me for the Princess!

Nancy- My mom commented recently that she loves when us kids are all around and she can cook us breakfast. Enjoy the full house.

E- Welcome back!!!! I can't wait to hear about the trip.

Ronda- A cookie decorating party just sounds like a fun idea.

So after taking lots of medicine I'm finally on the mend. One more good nights sleep tonight and hopefully this stuffy nose and congestion will be completely gone.

Can I have a little brag moment here? I ran a Christmas 5k today, the exact same course as the St Patrick's day 5k I ran this past March. My time in March 33:15, my time today 29:45. I cut over three minutes off my time on the exact same course in 9 months. And I felt better as I ran it, I actually noticed as I ran that I was completely different runner from the one who did that course 9 months ago. Could it be? Am I actually turning into a runner?

Hi all,

I'm not disappearing. Just busy. Horribly, ridiculously busy. Either that or dying on the couch. Next Wednesday is the procedure, I am both excited and scared and nervous at the same time....Nervous is winning out right now.

Smoking (or should I say NOT smoking)is going good. Social situations are still hard. I think I've almost conquered the issue at work with breaks, it's getting easier to go outisde for a break and not have one...it's nights with friends and family that are proving to be difficult. it's getting easier and easier though. Thanks for checking on me about that :):):)

Can you believe it-I am STILL not done shopping. UGH. Just Carlos left though...it'd be a lot easier if he could come up with something he wants lol

Eating has been so hit and miss. I haven't been eating a lot anyway because I am so bloated lately it's not even funny. I had my family Christmas party last night though and filled up on veggies. So that's a huge win in my corner.

I'll try to come around tomorrow and catch up with everyone. Sorry I've been absent. Just in a thousand different places right now mentally.

Ronda, It sounds like you have been bakeing for weeks.. Yummy!!!
How is DGF hip? I hope all is well

Meg, Oh, I will be at the princess with you, you are not getting rid of me that easy.. I looked at the weeks I have left to train, and I think if I just up one mile each weekend I should be ok and still have a week to taper!!
Way to go on the 5K time. Ya know with that pace you will be waiting at the finsih for me for over an hour. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Happy Monday.. OMG, my girls are jumping out of their skin with the Santa countdown!! :santa: :santa: :santa:

Cathie, good job on not smoking on breaks. It will be hard at first, but stick to it. It will get better. After a while you wont even miss it.

I however, could not go out at break time after I quit for a long time.

This weekend was a food and wine fest for me. :rolleyes1 I had my fun and today it was time to get myself back on track. I was slated for a 6 mile run today. I have been trying to get myself OUTSIDE to run but I'm a fair-weather runner and well, I just haven't had the "wanna". Today I did it. I ran 2 miles (ghastly horrid miles) inside on the TM at the gym, hit the locker room for a super quick change into outdoor gear, then out for a FABULOUS 3 mile loop, then back in (quick strip down ;) ) and onto the TM for the last mile. Over all, it was wonderful. :thumbsup2

Cathie - Not only am I not done shopping, I'm not done "idea-ing". If I knew what I was after it would be so much easier! And I don't live in an area where shopping is what you might call "convenient". It's a minimum of 35 minutes to a mall.

Jo- I bet those girls of yours are super excited! :goodvibes How are you feeling today after yesterday's run?

Lisa- do you remember what was happening this time last year? International Zhu-zhu hunt :lovestruc

Kelly - listen. Enough already. I want my snow back, k?

Ronda & Meg - awesome job on your respective runs! Good plan to ditch the cookies Ronda! My sister has a bunch of co-workers that she calls "the seagulls". :rotfl2: Any food that gets set on the break room table is almost instanteously attacked :scared1:

Paula - today is Monday. Are you JC'ing tonight? And how's Jesse? Any luck with a gift for your sister? :confused3

Liz, Kat, Erika, EE and Rob - Hi. Come visit us again, please?

:jumping2: <------ is this new? I don't remember ever seeing this before. Random, I know. But my ADD is getting the better of me today

Sorry. Random comment. 'tis the season for me apparently.

Can I just say how much I detest green bean casserole? I do. blech.:crazy2:

Thank you, that is all.

haha you ARE ADD today!!!

My dad makes this AMAZING green bean cassarole with something similar to an alfredo sauce and it has bacon in it...and omigosh yum. I'm so hoping he makes it Saturday..... it's so good, and such a nice change from regular green bean cassarole.

And you better get shopping woman! Runnin' out of time! lol. I understand though, when I lived with my parents, the nearest Walmart was a half hour away, and the nearest mall or area with decent stores was about an hour.

I don't have that excuse anymore. I live down the street from Target. lol. Carlos just doesn't know what he wants. But the Colorado Avalanche has been doing awesome lately, and he LOVES watching hockey, so I'm going to look online tonight and see if I can find hockey tickets for a reasonable price. That would be the easiest thing ever...print off the tickets, and wrapped them in a million boxes so he has to fight to get to them!!! :lmao:
