In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Grumps. I forgot that. Who do you work for?

It's Sprint. And I don't really care. I just like Pink or Silver. I think it will end up being a KatanaII. I don't need anything fancy. I rarely text. DD12 does, so one of these days, that might be more necessary for me than right now. But I do like the camera option. No blackberry's or anything. I'm not THAT important.

Where are you in this big country (city state?)

I'm in Small Town USA. Chillicothe Ohio. It's so small, the Mayor actually called my husband today to ask if he'd plow the sidewalks with our construction equipment due to "The BLIZZARD of 2008...Dun Dun Dah."

OMG ...LOL

Well here is what I know...

The katana II is something we sell too. I do not like it as it has some trouble with being returned frequently. There should be a samsung 520 that is a stellar phone should be in the same price range and is much better volume and call control. You won't be as likely to drop your calls in small town usa....It is silver chrome not pink. However I think pink is fine has nothing to do with not being professional. I am at the executive level in my company and my ringer has been " I am in love rwith a stripper" and "I got money in the bank" so pink is totally fine. How close are you to Montpelier OH? My brother is a pastor there

Grumps I hope your still on when I finish typing my current "cell" issues.

We have a construction company.

A Sprint Account that includes: me, husband and daughter

A Nextel Account that includes: husband and 4 employee phone numbers.

We jumped on the Nextel Walkie Talkie band wagon when that first came out. It was handy for our business. But that is over. No one really uses it anymore and the Nextel Service is so random. Sprint will work just about anywhere, including our house in the country. Nextel will not.

So, now they are the same company, I called Sprint yesterday to see about the ramifacations of moving our 4 employee phones over to Sprint from Nextel. Wouldn't need to transfer DH, he could just start carrying one phone the Sprint.

The CS rep, said, no problem. To minizie out of pocket cost, You can:

A. Transfer and use the same numbers. Call Nextel and see what kind of "rebate/upgrades" you have on the account and you can transfer them here.

B. If there is no "rebate/upgrade" and you aren't "set" on keeping the phone numbers, just cancel the Nextel account and start new numbers here and get free phones. (Only one phone on the Nextel account has not expired. So, I'd have to deal with that too.)

So, I called Nextel and the rep was not helpful at all. He said, I can't leave Nextel because they are the same company and all I'd be doing is upgrading. He talked very fast and in circles. I wanted to reach thru the phone.

Anyway, I said I understand they are the same company, but I KNOW, the cellular service is not the same. I have 2 phones and one works at my house and one doesnt.

He said it was because it was on a "walkie" service called "IDEN" but I could upgrade the phones to cellular phones and they'd work on "CDMA" and be on the same wavelink as Sprint. (I have NEVER heard these words. I write everything down.)

He said Nextel doesn't work like Sprint and offer Loyalty Rebates, they just always offer $150 off an upgrade.

Fine, we get off the phone.

I call Sprint back and ask, If Nextel upgrades me to Cellular phones on the CDMA "line" (I'll call it), then will my phones work in all the same places as Sprint. She said NO.

I don't know what to think!

We are 4 hours apart. (I mapquested it.) He is north, closer to Toledo, I am south central, right under Columbus.

Good to know about the KatanaII. Didn't know it was a dud. My husband got one in January, because his phone was doing the same thing as mine. Random dying. No problems yet with the Katana. But he is pretty rough on phones.

Mine usually last forever. At least my last Samsung did. I love Samsung. They have always been reliable in my book. Thanks for the phone advise. I'll look at the 520.

Nextel is a losing proposition for sprint. Also sprint ranks lowwwww on customer service scales. Do you have to have local telephone numbers on your new cell plans?

As far as one working on the other system? They are right you cannot move one (nextel) to another (sprint) as they are different technologies. This will never change so in essence what you would be doing by moving them over (porting) is the same as if you started service with a brand new company.

IDEN and CDMA are just technologies and the only thing that will be of importance to a customer is that the two will not work together.

How many total phones do you actually need? Is it just for the 3 of you or does DH still have crews that work for him?

What do you mean by this?

I have heard that. I've not had any problems. :confused3 But I read all kinds of threads about getting out of your contract. I like Sprint.

I haven't done anything yet. So, I don't have any "new" plans. Is there an issue I should be aware of before I change. My Nextel, local numbers, I can transfer. But, then I won't get "free" new phones with new service from Sprint. All I'll get is the $150 upgrade.

We really only need 3 new lines from Sprint. Husband already has one, and only 3 of the 4 employee phones are in use. SO, ideally, we could just add the three phones to our existing account and max out with 6 lines.

So, the Nextel sales man was feeding me bull to keep me a customer. We could not get a Nextel Cellular phone and it work in all the same places as Sprint?

AHHH...to.much.information.

One more thing. MY APOLOGIES TO EVERYONE ELSE. I know, you wanted to read about food and exercise, not DWD obsessive compulsive desire to know everything there is to know about cell phone technology.

I tell you. I am snowed in due to the "Blizzard of 2008" as it is now being referred to, and I missed all the action here. I don't even have a good excuse as to why I was missing.

Dawn, I don't think we need more people for the challenge. We just have to be accountable and post better numbers. I like people joining because they need support. TOWANDA!

True enough...wanna wrestle??? :lmao:

Actually we have several guys buy the pink for themselves and yes some are straight.

Yeah right. I'm guessing they're still "in the closet."

I belive you. I just don't understand. Why would a heterosexual man want a pink phone?

Grumps, do you carry a pink phone? I know which way you swing. DD.:lmao:
