In search of my body...not the one I ate!

I wish we had the snow you guys in the East Coast have...we just have bitter cold...no blizzard here for a loooong...time....:confused3

So I just survived a hard day...emotionally doing some testing that was difficult...I have a splitting headache and heading to bed...

I also survived 3 hours at Khols dept store with Carsyn. She found a bunch of clearance shirts for her trip...and a swimsuit. Guess who picked it out?:confused3 Me...stole it off the maniquin and left her neked for the world to see since it was the right size for Carsyn. I was informed it was not cool...then she settled on it.:worship:

She wants her breasts to be smushed together and that is not how her breasts are...morewider set so they do not have that squished cleavage look she wants. I told her she is built like me and unless she spends $200 or more on one with side padding and a made to fit look...it aint happening. She was honest about her weight concerns...I said trying on clothes in a full mirror is sometimes the reality of where your body is and motivation for where you want it to be....she said..
We need to go shopping every day then! :lmao:

Honestly..watching this beautiful 14 year old try on suits and shirts and not like what she saw...made me sad for her but instead of crying or feeling guilty....I just said...it is your mouth and your responsibility to control what goes in it as much as you control what comes out of it.

It made feel really good that she is becoming aware of choices that she makes as a young adult and the consequences for those choices. I never had a weight issue at all at her age....maybe it is better she realizes now she is 20 pounds too heavy because...when it hits you as an adult who never had a battle...you do not know how to handle it. It's like going to a battle un-prepared.

My mom never talked to me about my weight...she was obese and I was 112 pounds as a Sr in high school. I was allowed to eat anything and never educated about the long term ramifiacations and what would happen when my metabolism shifted, my exersize output changed and my body had babies. I just one day looked in the mirror..and knew I had not changed anything...and here I was...overweight and full of excuses.

I love Carsyn. She is really a funny girl and I am proud to call her my daughter. She makes good choices about her grades, drinking, boys and moral ethics that have long term consequences...I now need to instill in her the healthy eating ones.

I had tried before...but she took it as a control issue...not a concern issue...

So I am sorry for the rant...it was just a great ending to a stressfull day and I needed it to end on a positive note...and it did...just with my daughter and I...and knowing she is okay...both inside and out...and she is understanding that I am her best friend...always will be....even when the mirror isn't hugging her....I will.

Good night guys...I hope you all feel the love for yourselves tonight you deserve...regardless from where it is derived from.

I started to be overweight around 4th grade or so and I think I ate a lot because my mother and father were constantly pushing me to lose some of my weight... Constantly we were on diets... and to me I think I ate just to get them... I used to hide food in my room and eat when they weren't around. I can still remember my dad making cracks at my mom that she was getting too heavy and the most she ever was, was maybe 140 at 5'3... never huge by any standard. I remember getting so mad at that...

Awww Dawn.

I was at least 20 lbs too heavy at her age too. I spent all my teen years chubby. It is a hard thing. I lost it in college but have battled it ever since.

I am proud of myself tonight because I got up off my butt and did the mini stepper for 30 min, at 11PM. I was going to skip and chalk it up to an "off" day but managed to motivate somehow.

Right now I am snuggled up on the chaise lounge with a sleeping kitty on my lap, purring under a blanket. :goodvibes

Food for today:
B: Coffee, 100-cal pack blueberry muffins
L: South Beach Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap Kit (230), salad w/ cucum ber, onion, bacon and reduced fat blue cheese + 2 Tbsp light three cheese ranch (140), 6 medium strawberries (20), cottage cheese (90)
D: 8 oz leftover pork (120) wrapped in a pita (60), 1 cup raw cauliflower (25) and 1 serving ff pringles (70) w/ dip made of 8 Tbsp ff sour cream + 1 serving onion soup mix (100)
S: 1 cup trader joe fiber cereal (100) + 1/4 cup milk (20)
Total for the day, ~1100. Water, 80-100 oz (not really sure? at least 80). Exercise, 30 min on mini-stepper, 50 crunches on floor, 50 crunches on ball.

Hope everyone had a great day!!

Sorry I missed ya on AIM... I was watching the Incredibles on tv and was in bed...

Yes...I have just attacked from underneath and got #1100!!!

I usually don't think through ahead of the game to seize a little milemarker like that...but today....I am on the ball!

I am really excited for weigh in today....Please everyone pm me your numbers so I can get the tally to grumps and we can get the chart out...TODAY!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

229.6 this morning!!! Hopefully I don't creep back into the 230s this weekend. TOM just surprised me with a surprise visit this morning so I don't know what that will tell for my weight. This also means I've lost just barely over 25 lbs!! I may be able to lose my 10 for the month still!

I hope everyone has a good day!!!
Sarah

Congrats on hitting that mark, Sarah! You said that you were looking forward to being out of the 30's and no you are! :cool1:

Well, you all know my history with the scale and how much I hate it...blah, blah, blah...AND THIS IS WHY!

I had an EXCELLENT week. Followed my program closely and WORKED OUT like a freakin' nut job! I ran 20 MILES this week! Running! And guess what...NO CHANGE! Grrrr......

Now I am angry and p'd off in a major way! I know, I know...muscle weighs more than fat...bah. Not what I want to hear right now.

So that's it...I am definitely switching over to WW. Apparently I do need to track everything that I eat, etc. But still...I am thinking that even if I ate "normally," all of the running should have resulted in at least some sort of a loss. :confused3

*sigh*

Dawn--have fun with that little baby! I am at the stage where I love them, but I love giving them back even more! ;)

More later....

Thanks!! Maybe instead of a scale all the time use a tape measure once a month. Maybe you are losing inches but for whatever reason not the pounds... I mean who knows? Water, muscle, etc... there are a multitude of reasons. For me a big one is water... if I don't drink a ton of water I gain water weight... Good job on keeping with your plan and doing 20 MILES!!!! :cheer2: that is soooo freakin awesome... I usually get maybe 10 a week... So look at the postive also. Also, besides angry or what have you how do you feel? Do you feel better having worked out? I know when I work out hard I feel so accomplished even if I don't lose weight... Believe me I get peeved but I also reflect and see what I did accomplish that week whether it was eating better, drinking more water and doing more distance on the elliptical... and hey maybe this was a good thing for you because it helped you decide to go to ww which might help more. :confused3 hope this helps!

I am home. I have to go back to page 60 to catch up! Gheeze-a-lou.

Vacation was great-except for Maddi (4) got pheumona while I was gone. Talk about stress on my MIL and me!

Grand Floridian was everything! Lovely! DH and I got to spend some quality time together and I didn't gain any weight. Same as when we left. So, that's good news.

OK, off to catch up.

DWD, yay for not gaining!! :yay:

Sarah, no problem. I should be on tonight after 8 or so, as Mr Kat has inventory and won't be home until midnight. Congrats on the 25 lbs!!

Erika, I find that my loss tends to show up the week AFTER I do well. Like a delayed reaction.

My TOM is due in a few days so I am feeling bloated and cranky. And next Fri I can almost guarantee no loss, that week is brutal.

For today, I am at 183.2. That is a 1.4 lb loss. Considering I was WAY less than good on Sun/Mon, I will take it.

Almost out of the 180s!!! You go girl!!!

Tonight I am doing pizza hut chicken wings for dinner... 110 calories for 2 so I can get a 20 piece and eat 12 tonight and 8 tomorrow for lunch... woohoo!!! I love their wings... better than their pizza... I'm so excited!!!

OK:

5'7"

QoftheD Jelous?: I am jelous of skinny minnies, not the ones who don't have to do anything to stay skinny (they are gross to me. Skinny by nature, no tone=yuck). I mean the skinny minnies who actually put forth effort and look nice. I'm also jelous of those who have financial freedom.

QoftheD indulgence after weight loss? I guess I have alot of plans, but the main indulgence would be feeling comfortable in my own skin. When I go places, I just watch people and feel like I'm not in my own body. BECAUSE this isn't me! KWIM? I'd have whatever work necessary, stapled, tucked and mucked, to look gaaw-gus Baby!

Bird - sorry about all the family drama. My knee has been hurting too. I was taking Tylenol, it was only touching the pain. I starting taking Alleve, boy oh boy, that was the ticket.

3dk - sounds like you need to start weight training. That will shake your plateau - and looks like you're already sleeping with your trainer, soooo...no extra money out of pocket.

Dawn - I think back to my highschool years. I wasn't super skinny, but I wasn't BIG either. The sad thing is, I didn't appreciate who I was when I was. It was always worrying about what I wasn't. You're daughter is BEAUTIFUL and I hope she can appreciate it right now. Not when it's too late.

Missed your funny/psycotic take on life, in any form.

LGirl, chbc - hang in there you two. Sounds like you guys are really riding the rollercoaster right now!

Kat, Goof, Munky - as aways, enjoy reading what you're eating and exercising. Tons of inspiration there.

Grumps - lurking, posting when necessary. Some things never change. Oh, and I LOVE a good challenge.

SGirl - how was the girls only valentine weekend in Vegas?

Snow - another runner! I've got to start running.

And anyone else I missed...glad to be back. Going to start counting calories again and guess I'll go walk on the treadmill. Blech.

Kat - how do you each such a small breakfast? Are you Starving at lunch time?

My trip:

It's always surreal for me going to Disney. It's like I live in my head, and I plan and daydream about being there so much, when I am actually there, I have to stop and say, "You're actually here" to myself. Stop and breath in the funky water smell.

It's the best/worst thing to leave your kids at home. I've done this a few other times and it's always the same thing. You want them here and you don't. I find I don't take as many pictures either.

Grand Floridian. Well, I am a bull in a China shop. We pulled up in our, free upgraded SUV (thank you very much) and all the valet/luggage porters were busy with others, so while DH parked the car, instead of waiting, I start dragging my AND dh's suitcases into the hotel by myself. There was no wait and it was a breeze to check in, then we lugged the suitcases to the room. Hubby was like, "I thought this was a luxury hotel?" It would be, if I wasn't such a control freak.

Our room was looking out onto the Poly and the Wedding Pavillion. On Valentines day, I was jerked awake from my afternoon nap by fireworks being set off after someone's wedding. The nerve! No, really, I was awe struck. The room was nice and even had a ceiling fan. There was turndown service at night. It was perfect. There needs to be a saying about: "Once you go deluxe, you never go back." What rhymes with deluxe? The only complaint was, it took forever for the water to get hot. What's up with that?

Anywhoo, I shopped till I dropped. I didn't buy much, I just had to look at everything available.

Lots of good food.

The best time we had was a Jellyrolls. So much fun. When I have the money, I will be buying my DVC at the Boardwalk. We LOVE that place.

Sunday, we went from luxury in Florida, to, well, let's just say the InTown Suites EL Paso was so far from luxury, we walked into the room my husband had been sleeping in for the last month and I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. There was a lonley little bed with two lonely little pillows, flourscent lighting, no hangers, my DH even had to buy his own alarm clock. Of course you can stay there for a whole week for less than one night at the GF, but I digress.

I caught a raging cold on Sunday, which is still with me. My baby (4) was home with phneumona, and my MIL was taking her to doctors and urgent care and my thoughts were with her.

I had some great authentic Mexican food and it was beautiful land. Definately different from Ohio.

Listen to this. Right after Christmas, we (my dh and girls) had gone to a mall and in the Disney Store, my youngest picked up a "Boo" doll. From Monsters, Inc. It was $14 and kinda chintzy/cheesy. I told her, Mommy is going to DW, I'll get you a Great Boo doll when I'm there. She wasn't happy about that, but ok.

Fast forward to Florida. I turned EVERY STINKING PIECE OF that resort apart looking for a Boo doll. Nothing. Nada. There is barely any Monster's Inc. merchandise, much less a Boo doll.

I bought consolation gifts, but felt bad. Poor baby is home sick and I don't even have a Boo doll.

Fast forward even farther to EL Paso. DH dropped me off at the outlet mall for a couple hours. WHAT do you think I found in the Disney Store? A $14 Boo doll. Who knew El Paso'd come thru for me. Thank goodness.

Anyway, glad I'm home. We are all getting better. Snow storm hit here and the roads are now clear, but I really don't want to go to the office today.

Later all.

Welcome back! Sounds like the trip was good overall! I hear you about leaving the kids...we day dream about adult-only trips, but then we can't stand the thought of being away from them...and so the cycle goes! :rotfl2:

SO sorry that your little one got so sick while you were away. That is SO tough! Major props to MIL for dealing.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Three cheers for you for not gaining! You were gone a while...so it is amazing to be on a week-long vacation and be able to maintain!

Ok, so I am officially on WW as of today. My first meeting is on Tuesday morning, so I will get (yet another) official weight at that time. But I went online, figured out how many points I get each day...yadda yadda...and dove right in. Of course, being the carb addict that I am...I quickly found the best carbs with the lowest point values...:rotfl2: and had some treats! Once a foody, always a foody....:rotfl:

Truth be told, I have had 6 points total today (about 2pm now) and I am allowed 20 plus extra points for exercising...so it seems doable. However, I am definitely feeling bloated...likely because I indulged in the carbs! :rotfl2:

Ok...it is snowing yet-a-freakin'-gain...grrr...but I am off to the gym to get my run in!

Hugs all around! :goodvibes

Kat - how do you each such a small breakfast? Are you Starving at lunch time?

In a nutshell... yes.

However, keep in mind that I get up around 8:45, am out the door by 9ish, get to work around 9:30ish. I eat my mini-muffins and drink my coffee during my drive to work. I go to the gym around 11:30-12 and eat lunch around 2, usually.

I find that I get really hungry at night, and so I keep a few extra calories for snacking.

DWD, sounds like a great trip!! We own DVC at BW and love it...

E, it's likely that the switch to WW will have your body going WTH? at first, but I bet you will be adjusted in a week or so.

Can I ask a question????

How long have you been running? And is that the only excerise you do? (ok - so that was 2 questions...:rolleyes1 ) The reason I ask is this: Your body has a funny way of becoming accustomed to the workouts you do - and needs to be "shocked" every now and then. :scared1: I have trained for and ran 2 half-marathons and 1 full marathon - I gained weight with each one because while I was running like a crazy woman, my body was adapting so that I had the endurance to complete those runs. I didn't have (or make? :confused3 ) the time to add in strength training or any kind of circuit training - all cardio. Once I completed the events and got back to a varied routine, I was able to see changes again. :thumbsup2

Maybe it's time to switch things up for a couple weeks? :confused3

Checking in. I have been catching up, PM'ing, lurking and trying to post. The eliptical was killer last night. I did the treadmill here at home for 45 min. and the real accomplishment has been staying away from GS cookies. There are 136 boxes of cookies on the kitchen table. I know-hands firmly planted on the keyboard. Don't worry, the cookies don't belong to me so I won't eat them :rotfl: . Remember you can purchase GS cookies for "operation cookie drop" and the cookies are sent to US Troops.
I love my new work out T-adorable petite cousin gave it to me because it was to big. The brand is Horny Toad (this shirt is green too!) :rotfl: but seriously, it is so soft and stretchy. I am going to reward myself with another one when I find out where to buy one. I also have my eye on pink under armour, but that is ten pounds away. Also, the 1 gig shuffles are 49.00 on the apple site. All this shopping I want to do and no paycheck. I do sell Longaberger and you should see the new handbag for spring! Shameless.
I need some new song ideas, meatloaf is not providing motivation anymore only cravings.
So, I'm full of questions. What workout clothes do you have your eye on (yes, I'm a P.E. teacher-it shows) ? What songs have you been listening too or switched too. Who out there are DVC members. We became DVC members in 1997 BW and last year bought some points at AKLV. We love the BW, AKL, WL and I like Dixie Landings (PORS) and the kiddos like the AS too.

E-Good Luck on WW!
Grumps- Are you out there?

DVC member here, BWV. Bought resale last Feb.

My favs are BWV and BCV, mostly for the walkway to Epcot and BCV for the amazing pool. We also like WL, CSR, and Mr Kat likes Poly.

I listen to the pre-show to Illuminations 2000 a lot, is roughly 35 min and makes a good arc trainer workout (arc trainer is harder than elliptical). I have a Spanish dance remix CD that I use for the elliptical trainer. I usually read on either so the music is just to keep my feet moving and block out distractions.

I am very, very fair-skinned and turn BRIGHT red when I exercise, so being stylish is likely not worth it since there is no way I could look good!

My workout gear consists of a trove of old t-shirts that are somewhat big on me. I also wear them to bed, although in both cases they go on clean. Bottoms are $5 bike shorts from Walmart (to keep from chafing), with $5 men's gray or black sweats-type shorts, also from Walmart, over them.

My hair is long (hits my bra strap in back) so I wear it in a ponytail or a doubled messy bun-thing that gets it off my neck.

Kat- I love the Illuminations pre-show. I used to listen to it driving to school. Thank You! Thank You! That should do the trick. I rember hearing the music while waiting for a bus at the MK, then set off to find the soundtrack. Oh Thank You!

We need to stay at the BCV so we can use that pool. We like the pool at the Swan, but it does not have that fun slide.

So Skyler is here with me and at my home...we may have her overnight! :cool1:

The kids are in love with her...she is like dangling pure gold in front of a miner...total distraction... :)

I'll get some pics with her in a bit...forget how much time they take...she is good...just likes to be in on the action!

DWD!!! Thank goodness you are back! I was afraid Disney recruited you to be the newest Mousketeer or Dwarf AKA..."Voluptious" :lmao:

I am processing the weight details...great job guys...I am down 1 pound!

I honestly listen to disney music... I have 3 playlists I vary from... I can pm them to you if you'd like.

Totally my sistah from a different mistah!! LOL! I wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt... hair in a ponytail... I don't care what I look like when I work out cuz my hair is usually messy and I'm sweaty when I leave... so hot... LOL!

Hi Guys -
New here, but couldn't help wanting to join in, the attitude and environment of this thread is refreshing!
I've struggled with my weight my whole life, i'm an unhealthy weight, and i'm unhappy about it, and it's time to take some action! I'm getting married in June, and i don't feel beautiful when i look at myself in my wedding dress in the mirror, i see the extra weight, and nothing else. I don't want to look back and hate all of my wedding photos, or be uncomfortable my entire honeymoon because i'm too self conscious to wear shorts/tank tops/swim suits (and it's at Disney in JUNE, what was i THINKING!) :confused3
I'm an emotional eater, thats one of the big problems, i eat when i'm stressed and nervous, which planning a wedding, paying off my car, and my fiance's astronomical student loans off means i'm stressed 100% of the time. And while i love my job, i'm usually sitting, and 2.5 years ago when i was in college, i was walking miles and miles each day just running from one end of campus to another, so i could eat less than perfectly and actually lost some weight. Unfortunately, my eating habits stayed the same, and i was slammed into a sedentary office job..... not good for my waistline! I need to really put some effort into working out, eating healthier so i'm not only healthier, but happier. And i need some support, i have no will-power! So here we go, i'm crossing my fingers! Can't wait to get to know everyone!
