In search of my body...not the one I ate!

JODI--TWELVE pounds is PHENOMENAL! You go, girl! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Definitely...think about this in 10-pounds chunks and it will be much easier. And make a list of rewards you will give yourself for each 10-pound loss. A manicure or pedicure, a facial, a new bathing suit for all of those water aerobics classes you are taking...just make sure it is something for YOU (not something for the house and not something you need)...something that will make you feel better about yourself!

I agree about the goals... for my fifty pound mark, I am planning a big shopping trip in NYC.... The plus size departments in Macy's, Sak's, Lord and Taylor are just amazing. They take up entire floors instead of just the back corner of a traditional department store where I live. The way I figure, I should hit my fifty pound lost mark around the time when I will need to buy some spring / summer clothes... I got rid of most of mine from last year during the last closet purge.

Now, I just need to come up with a goal for the forty pound mark...

Jodi, 12 lbs is great!! Think of it this way... if you lose 10 lbs a month, in 10 months you will be down 100 lbs!

Multi quote is the middle button on the bottom right of each post., just to the right of the "Quote" button. If you click it, it will turn red and you will see a "-" appear. Just do that to each post that you want to quote, and when you are done, hit the "Post Reply" button as always. All of your quotes will show up in your edit box.

You can change your signature and profile by clicking on the "Quick Links" in the menu bar, and when the drop down appears, clicking on edit signature or edit profile.

For pictures:
1) You need to find a hosting site like photobucket.comand create an account. They will tell you how to put pictures up.
2) Once you have done that, copy the link to the picture that you want to post from the Address Bar in your Internet Explorer.
3) Then go to the page that you are using to add a new post. You will see a little button, the 2nd from the right, that looks like it has a little mountain on it. If you hover the mouse over it, it should read "Insert Image". Click on that, paste the link that you copied above, and click okay. It should then be in your post.

Hope that helps! (... can you tell I am a geek?? )
WOW, Thanks a lot that was so easy, can you tell I am not a geek  . Now I need to figure out my pictures.

Thank you :) If my memory is right, your the one with the kids piled up on you. What a cute picture, and why are you hiding, you look Wonderful. princess:. I know what you mean about not buying something for myself. I always seem to send it on the kids. :confused3 Why is that  I work my butt off ( well, I do even if it is still huge and stalking me from behind. i seem to reward everyone other then myself. Well, I will take your advice and the next 10 pounds I lose I will get a pedicure. My tooties could use it. :thumbsup2

YOU GO GIRL!!!!! You are doing awesome.... Focus on ten pounds at a time... That is the size of a small turkey... - Funny story, around Thanksgiving, I had lost about twenty pounds, but it didn't hit me how much that was until I was lifting the 22 pound Thanksgiving turkey out of the oven and my sister asked me if I realized that I lost the equivalient of the turkey from my body... so know I sometimes refer to my lost weight as the turkey or the goose, but I am waiting until I hit my goal before I can saw I lost the cow....

Keep on doing what you are doing... you are changing your lifestyle and that is what is going to keep the weight off after you lost it...

We are all proud of you...
Goof

Sure wish I only had to say I need to lose a duck or a dove .:goodvibes I don't think you need to lose a cow, but if you do keep on MOOOOOVING. :lmao: and the weight will utterly fall off. :rotfl2: Ok, I am just happy I figured out how to work this thread..... Sorry for the corny jokes. ;)

Hey--how are you feeling?

How am I feeling? Argh is that a loaded question right now! ;) I'm about 99% over that upper respiratory infection that I had - which itself is great news. :thumbsup2

The *not so great* news is I'm gaining weight at an alarming pace  and I'm not sure why :confused3 Yeah, ok - my diet hasn't been completely perfect, but certainly these pinching jeans are unwarrented.

I'm exercising like I should - total a** kicking this week...eating well - not a single bite of crap all week. I did have a glass or two of wine a couple times in the last 7 days, but not excessive - and I've GAINED 2 1/2 pounds. Please oh please don't tell me "it's muscle" because it's not. I know it's not - if it was I wouldn't have these divits and lines in my hips from my used-to-fit jeans....

Other than that, things are just peachy, thanks! :goodvibes

Yesterday I had to skip my WW meeting (daughter's preschool class trip) but I did weigh in! Ready for it? 4.2 down! Which means that I am...under 200! 199.6!

Nicely done! :thumbsup2

I think I'm going to place an ad in the paper:

FOUND....5 pound of fat. I don't know who it belongs to, but it seems to have decided that my backside should be it's new home. I'm rather anxious to return it to it's rightful owner, as I already have more of my own fat than I can currently handle. If you have lost 5 pounds, please let me know ASAP. Willing to travel to deliver - no need to identify..... :lmao:

Hang in there... you could just be retaining water... or worse, you could be hitting a bit of a plateau... try a different exercise to see if that gets your metabolism going again....

Good luck!!!

I will place one right under yours, just substitute 12 for 5 and middle for backside.

Food for today:
B: 100-cal pack cinnamon streusel muffins, coffee
L: Smart Ones Chicken Santa Fe (140), salad (100)
D: Homeade chicken enchiladas (400), ff refried beans (220)
Total for today, 960. Exercise, 31 minutes on elliptical (300 cals, 2.4 miles), 100 crunches on ball (50 straight up, 25 oblique on each side).

I need to eat something else, I think... not sure what yet.

Today was actually a WORSE workday than yesterday. You know when you get called 7 times before you even make it IN to work that it is going to be a bad day..

Hi Gang....

Where is everyone tonight???

Goof

I am having massive tech issues tonight! And this is a bad night for that...two online conferences, etc. Two of my three computers stopped working at the same time with completely different reasons! Aaarrggh! So I am frustrated.

And on top of that, I am PMSing like there's no tomorrow and trying NOT to eat everything in sight!

Hi Everyone...

TGIF!!!!! Its Friday... no work for me tomorrow and I can't wait... Hope everyone has a great day today... I have been sticking to my eating plan and I have been exercising every night this week. (swimming on Monday, 2 mile walk away the pounds workout on Tuesday, Wednesday (my swim class got cancelled due to weather) and Thursday. I hope to keep going and make this a daily occurance.. Wish me luck on that one... After all of this exercise, I better not gain any weight this week....

Right now I am off to get some breakfast. I woke up extremely hungry this morning....

Have a good one...

Good morning! I couldn't get on the DIS all last night! It was sad.

So I have a question...

I was talking to my very good friend (went with me to WDW in Jan, going with me to Vegas) about my trip in March to WDW. I mentioned that I needed to buy new shorts and she said "Well, it's not like your old ones are going to fall off you."

Excuse me? I think they are! After 37 lbs, I need and deserve new shorts! Also, I plan on being down more like 50lbs by the end of March when we leave. But that's not the point. The point is, I have lost weight and it's visible and I'm in some smaller clothes. Now, why would she say this to me? Even if you're thinking "Okay, fat-***, you're not getting skinny" you just nod your head, right???

What do I do? Just ignore her and know that 37lbs is a lot of weight to lose and be proud? I'm upset she was so seemingly unsupportive. After my loss this week, she just said "Well, you didn't eat anything last week!" like that covered it. The truth is, I did eat last week, I just ate a lot more veggies and skipped the ice cream cake she bought for the Super Bowl. I made choices - glass of wine over cake, not both, etc.

How would you handle this?

Yikes! Was there a break-in?

Sadly, it had to be internal. You have to badge into this building and there are ciphor locks on each internal door and every floor has a different code. What a nightmare. All said and done it looks like $35,000 of equipment walked.:sad2:

Good Morning/Afternoon Ladies!

Well I stayed home again... Up wayyyyy too late doing laundry. I weighed myself today (because I truly am a masochist) and I didn't gain or loose weight. Hey after what I ate yesterday thats good enough for me... I gotta kick it up tho. My goal for this month was 10 lbs and I haven't lost 1... LOL!!! Oh well... Anywho... I hope everyone is having a magical and great day!

Sarah

UGGGHHH, I only weigh when absolutely necessary... Fridays, and I didn't even do that this morning.

Hello, my friends!

Thank you all for the well-wishes - I am finally starting to feel human again. Not completely well, but human. :cool1: :

Yesterday I had to skip my WW meeting (daughter's preschool class trip) but I did weigh in! Ready for it? 4.2 down! Which means that I am...under 200! 199.6!

WOOOHOOO! That is Fantabulous! Keep up the great work. :thumbsup2 on getting under 200.

Funny, I actually booked a studio for one night, last Sept, on cash at SSR (AP rate of $149!) and wound up upgraded to a dedicated 2-bed. If you are interested, you can see pics here:

I would definitely stick with SSR studios if it is the same price as the mods. The main pool is nice, and, every "quiet" pool has a hot tub! We are picky types and were prepared to hate SSR but were very impressed with how well-kept it is.

OKay work is kicking my BUTT again today. Nothing like getting a problem call before you can even leave the house in the morning.

I am booked for a dedicated 2-BR at SSR for the week after Thanksgiving. i can not wait. I am even more excited after reading how impressed you were with it. Thanks for the info..:)

This week has been going well so far :cheer2: I have been doing water arobics, went 3 times last week and 4x's this week. I even lost 3 more pounds. :yay: Hopefully, I can keep it up. I was told to not look at my weight loss as 120 more to go, which really gets me down :sad1: but as 12 wonderful pounds off, and only make small goals, like 10 pounds each month. I have always been the type of person who wants my weight to be all off in a few months and when I am down 20 or 30 pounds I get discouraged because of the amount left to lose. I need to be positive and pat myself of the back for the work I have done.

Noboby can say losing weight is easy :scared: Both your body and mind get a workout and it's rough..

I have looked into the running program eveyone seems to be talking about and I am trying a new twist with it in the water. I told Dawn this afternoon, I even broke out into a sweat. NOW that's pretty good for being in the water :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful rest of the day. Jodi

You are doing really well! Dieting is definitely a menta,l as well as, a physical journey. Nothing about it is easy. There are days when I just want to throw in the towel and not even try anymore. I just keep reminding myself that I need to be a role model for my babies and that keeps me going to the gym.

Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So, laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

From one friend to another.....:grouphug:
Let's all get healthy together! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thank you for the inspiration this morning! I needed it.

YOu re kicking butt with the exercise. I wish I could say the same this week. I bet the scale will be kind.

So, my knee is still a mess so I couldn't go to the gym again. I have decided to wait until Monday before I go back. I am worried aboiut making it worse. I found some leftover antiflammatory pills that I took when I injured my knee before. I am going to take them all weekend and see if it helps. I feel like an idiot going to the doctor for this since I had an MRI on the same knee when I injured it before and there really wasn't anything significant. Just a very deep bruise over the bone. I don't understand that since I didn't bang it or fall; it started hurting from the running. Who knows...:confused3 It is really discouraging though.

Yes Paula...it HAS to be doing something! (Can you tell this is what I keep telling myself?? :rotfl2: I am like....I am running 5 freakin' days a week...it has to work, right? right? right? :rotfl: :lmao: All day long in my head!) So YES, it WILL work and you will NOT gain!

Good morning! I couldn't get on the DIS all last night! It was sad.

Yikes! Hate it when that happens! Maybe others were having the same problem and that is why our little thread was so slow. I know that the WebMasters are doing all kinds of stuff with the new server and they posted that we will notice some disturbances as they make changes, etc.

So I have a question...

I was talking to my very good friend (went with me to WDW in Jan, going with me to Vegas) about my trip in March to WDW. I mentioned that I needed to buy new shorts and she said "Well, it's not like your old ones are going to fall off you."

How would you handle this?

Wow, Liz--this is a tough one! First, GOOD FOR YOU that YOU know that this is a huge accomplishment! You are under 200! GO YOU! And of course you totally NEED and DESERVE new shorts for your new self!

Here is my guess (putting on my Behaviorist hat....)--she is very aware that you are actively doing things for improve yourself. And sometimes this is hard for those who are close to us. Whether consious or not, she knows that YOU are doing something to improve yourself and SHE is not actively working on whatever her issue is. (It may or may not be weight-related...maybe she drinks too often, or maybe she spends more than she should, or smokes, or doesn't keep her house clean or isn't a hands-on parents...or SOMETHING.) No one is perfect...and when we see someone close to us who is WORKING on their imperfections, it stands out as a glaring sign that we are not working on OUR imperfections. Thus, it comes out with nasty comments or in other passive aggressive ways.

My second thought on this is somewhat similar. Even though she is a good friend of yours, she likely feels that she is (at least) superior to you in one way....weight. She can think in her head..."Well, Liz is a more involved parent than I am, has a better relationship than I do, has a better job [whatever the situation] but at least I am thinner than she is..." Well, now you are taking that one element of superiority away from her and she feels it (again, maybe subconsciously, maybe in full awareness).

Finally, if she DOES have a weight issue...well, then it is plain ol' jealousy pure and simple. You are dealing with your weight issue and she is not.

As for how to handle it...at this point, I would let it go for a bit and see how it plays out. As I just said above, it sounds like (to me) YOUR weight loss is bringing out HER issues...for whatever reason. Yes, she should be supportive--especially if she is a good friend. But there is a reason she is having a hard time being so. See if you can think about why that might be.

So I guess my very long-winded advice here :rotfl: is to take the moral high road on this one. She was unsupportive, but she may be battling her own deamons on this. You know you are doing great. WE know you are doing great. And if she can't be supportive of you right now...come here...WE WILL BE!

37 pounds is a lot of weight to lose and you have a right to be proud of your accomplishments... If you are into smaller clothes, than you should go out and buy clothes that fit you well and show off that new body.

Not to defend your friend, but if you are still wearing baggy clothes, she may not be able to notice the changes in your body. I just started to buy new jeans for work (because my old ones were huge on me and made me look like I had a load in my pants...:rotfl: ) and it was only after I started wearing the new jeans that people started to notice the difference. I would go out and buy what makes you feel good. You worked hard for this and you deserve to reap the rewards.

As for how to deal with your friend, if you are comfortable enough to talk to her about this, I would mention to her that you are working hard to change your lifestyle and may need some support / reinforcing comments from her from time to time. You may find out that one of any number of things like - being jealous of your success, dealing with her own issues or is just clueless about how her comments are affecting you. It sounds like a simple conversation may fix things. If not, I would try not mentioning your weight loss efforts to her and see what happens.

Remember the only person you need to please here is yourself...

37 pounds... wow... You are doing GREAT!!!!

Glad to hear you are feeling better... we missed you around here...

Hang in there! You are doing the right thing to rest it and take it easy. I have a really bad knee (from years ago) and it is best to listen to the joint. I would find a good orthopedist or sports doc about it...don't ever feel like a fool going to the doc when you have a question. So what if the last MRI didn't show anything. It hurts NOW.

How about your sneakers? Running in the wrong sneaks can be horrible for your joints...hips as well as knees. Are they old or ill-fitting? Do your over-pronate? If so, are your sneakers designed for over-pronating? That type of stuff can have big impacts.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: look at me...using all of this runners' lingo! :lmao:

Sorry to hear about your knee... Give it some rest and hopefully it will feel better soon.... If you still have pain after a few days of rest, I would call the doctor... you may have injured it by running... the fix could be something as simple as a knee brace...

Well said. Agrree with everything (and I didn't have to type it all out and keep rereading it for screwups!;) )

Goof

Agree here too. In 2002, when I lost my weight the "first time" I also didn't buy clothing till I had to. My BFF, (a Disser) was shocked. It definately took her by suprise and was hard for her, because she was carrying unwanted weight too. While she was super happy for me, it was hard for her.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I see I'm going to have to keep up with this thread on a daily basis! You all are great!! :thumbsup2 I've done pretty well this week as far as eating healthier goes. I am going to have to incorporate exercise in there, though. I know it's essential. Anyway...one pound down.. nine to go!

Now I'm off to catch up on what I missed!! :rotfl:
