Good morning Body Board Babes and Dan--who has been conspicuously MIA....hmmmm...is it time to send out the search party yet?
So, it took two days, but I am now over my most recent interlude with shiny satan (the 3-way mirror). I mean, I am freaking FABULOUS, right?
I put on some of those new workout clothes this morning and hit the gym. Had another great run and feel great! That is already my third run this week, and I plan to go again tomorrow and on one of the week-end days for FIVE runs this week!
OK--EMBARRASSING CONFESSION AHEAD....
A few days ago I posted that I had switched my workouts to morning as I really love how it set me up for the day...my workout was already behind me, and it helped keep me honest for the rest of the day, etc. The only problem is that now I see EVERYONE at the gym since morning is the busiest times--especially for "my crowd."
Let me define...I live in Stepford (as in Stepford Wives)...most are wealthy, thin, have perfect houses and McMansions, with perfect Lexus SUVs, are SAHMs, and yadda yadda. Keeping up with the Joneses is a full-time marathon event.
Well, I don't play that way. And everyone in town knows it and has basically accepted that. I have lots of friends (all are pretty and perfect and have their hair and make-up done to perfection just to go to the gym) and they like me because, well...I guess because I am the funny fat friend? (Yes, at 25-ish pounds overweight I am the heavist mom in my kids' classes.) Actually, many of them have told me that they really respect my down-to-Earth lifestyle and that my kids see the world in a much healthier way than do their kids, etc. [insert proud mom moment here]
Seriously, most of them are actually quite kind, but are just privileged and don't know anything else.
So anyway, as you know, I jiggle when I jog on that there treadmill at the gym. That was bad enough before, but at least there was no one to witness my jiggling as I was working out during off hours. Now, though, the members of the Pure and Perfect Club are all at the gym when I am. And I caved. I couldn't stand the thought of them noticing my fat rolls bouncing along in time to the music....dancing as if those rolls had their own ears.
So, yes, I wore SPANX under my workout clothes to keep the jiggles at bay! Yes, I worked out in a spanx.
Funny thing though, I really liked it! I just FELT so much more fit and trim...and the gym mirrors did not terrify me. So, although my reason for doing so was purely vanity, it ended up making me feel a bit better about myself. I felt like I was able to get a glimpse of what I am going to look like in a few more weeks, so that was a real boost!
Have a great day everyone!
