In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Thanks for the encouragement and kudos, everyone - I GREATLY appreciate it!

Liz (SeptemberGirl) - I am very sorry about your mom being sick. I am SO PROUD of you for working on your own health instead of using food as comfort to deal with your mom's illness. It takes great strength to do that, so stand tall - you are an inspiration!

Erika - I do understand where you're coming from. I had to go the OB/GYN for a physical last week and when I undressed for the exam, I was standing in front of a full length mirror. I don't own one of those, so I haven't seen that view in a LONG time. I can go a REALLY long time without seeing it again, that's for sure. At any rate, I am concentrating on feeling the changes inside as well as the ones I can see. I FEEL so much better and have a much more positive frame of mind since I started eating the way my doctor suggested and exercising. And I know that, even if I don't see it right now, the outside will catch up with the inside and the visible changes WILL come - and they will come for you, too.

Did W3D1 of the C25K program this morning. REALLY hard to jog 2 minutes at a stretch, but I did it! It's cool to challenge myself physically like that and find I can meet the challenge, especially coming from where I have come from. So even though the workout itself was not fun, the sense of accomplishment ROCKS!

I am missing Dawn, too. Come out, come out, wherever you are!!

Hope all of you have a wonderful day! And keep posting - it is encouraging me greatly to keep on keeping on!:goodvibes

or does it seem like DizneyDawn has been hiding? Dawn, if you are curled up in the fetal position, choking down comfort food, you better come out. We are all here.

No...I was not gorging myself....just had a surprise come up...needed to deal with...much better today thank you!!! (Thaks Goof for the feedback!;) )

Congrats to Goof's Huge loss and Larry's Girl...makes me feel like a loser is a good thing!!!:rotfl:

I WANT TO BE A LOSER TOO MAMA!!!

Question: What food do you find hardest not to reach for when life comes up and you stress eat??? popcorn:: :cake: :drinking1 :drinking: :mickeybar

I did W3D1 last night and for some freason found it to be easier that W2. Maybe because you only have to run 4 vs 6 times. I don't remember if I posted this before or not. But if you have an ipod you can get the C25K podcast from itunes for free. I love it because it tells me when to run and when to walk and the music is realy good. It is a free podcast under Health and Fitness titled "Podcasts for running".

I am glad things are better today and that you are back with us.

I am all about chocolate when I am stressed and once I start I can'r stop so I just don't have it in the house at all.

Hi Everyone....

Sounds like the winter blahs are starting to set in with the sick kids, frustrating shopping experiences, stresses from lives, etc. Someone else said it earlier, but the fact that we are all taking some time out to take care of ourselves is a HUGE accomplishment... All of our other neurosis are nothing compared to the fact that we are conquers on a quest to take care of ourselves first (or in addition to everything else)... We should all give ourselves a huge pat on the back for that alone...

That being said, I can relate to the whol back fat thing - because boy do I need to get rid of some of that...:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Welcome back to the boards Dawn.... Life can get pretty crazy, but we missed you...

To all of you lurkers who haven't been posting (and you know who you are...) we miss you too!!!!! PLEASE COME BACK!!!!! Its just not the same around here without you....

OK - for the QOTD...
My name is Paula and I am a bread addict....
I know I can't live without good, crusty, warm, buttery, bread... When I am stressed, I carbo load. I had to have my gallbladder out in December and the week or two before the surgery when I was stressing about it, I was eating every JC entree that had bread in it. As far as I was concerned, the more the better... I even save part of my afternoon snack of a one starch and one fat serving so I can have a piece of buttered (ok - margerined) bread with my dinner... I am even planning on going to Vermont to the King Arthur Flour Company education center so that I can learn how to make French Baguettes... I know, its an evil thing to torture myself with, but I have learned that in order to indulge I need to make better choices and plan for it instead of just eating it willy nilly...

So - what are everyone else's food vices???

I would have to answer what don't I reach for when stressed. It's all good in my book. Just the physical act of eating, in and of it's self is a calming thing for me. If I have a headache, putting something in my mouth and chewing feels good. (I have so many more issues than this one thread can handle!) My house is devoid right now of "bad things" i.e. cookies, little debbies, chocolate, but when that is gone, and if I am determined enough, I'll make something my stress reliever. Peanut butter on Ritz. 30 of em'. Cereal. Brown sugar/cinnamon toast. You get the picture. The only thing that does not temp me in the very least is ice cream. I could go for a year and not eat ice cream.

Stress eating: Chocolate is at the top of my list, next being chicken fried rice.

DH and I like bread too. At Disney Land they have a sourdough factory and a tour. They give you a piece. So good. We went thru the tour 2 days in a row, FOR THE SAMPLE! Then we bought a loaf.

The bread making sounds like so much fun.

I like salty/sweet combinations. So when I could have them, I would eat Butterfinger candy with popcorn or kettle corn. I also like crunchy snack foods when I am angry or frustrated, so I would binge on potato chips and dip, corn chips and cheese or tortilla chips and salsa (which are all no-nos now, too, because of the low carb/no dairy restrictions I have). So what I am finding is that all my comfort foods are off limits because of dietary restrictions for my celiac or my diabetes.

At this point, sugar free popsicles are saving me from losing my mind. When I want something fruity or sweet, that is what I reach for. I saw a commercial on TV last night for cherry chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper. I am SO finding one of those and trying it. If it is good, that will be something I will DEFINITELY be keeping in my house!

Hehe... I like the tortilla factory better and if you have a birthday pin on they give a bag of them to you!!! *drools*

Truth...if I was on the road and starving...Mc'ds fries, BK's original chicken sandwich w/ extra mayo cause I am in need of calories and or a bacon double cheesburger w/ mustard only....and that is about it for the drive through gates of LARD AS*dom....

At home...Hostess hoho's, twinkies, zingers are all good...frozen too as I developed that habbit from teenhood. We had a Hostess Outlet near our home and we could not afford fruit...but those discount Angel Food Cakes....yeah...they were cheapo!!! Our deep freezer was full of them..

But Goof...again...line me up with shots of French bread...garlic bread...hard kaiser rolls and sourdough ends....warm w/ BUTTER thank you...

I think I still have IV scars from when that French Floosy tried to get me hooked on French Baguettes with garlic seasoning.

Where did my Bread maker go to anyway???

Waffles with butter and peanut butter...cottage cheese on bread...spaghetti on bread...Bacon & Peanut Butter (chunky) sandwiches...how bout some candy...open me up and pore some Sugar Babies in cause I am feeling like chewing on pure BROWN SUGAR!!! Which is great in homemade Carmel Corn!!!:thumbsup2

Beer Cheese soup??? Pea Soup....tomatoe Bisque...funnel cakes...corn dogs from the state fair which also has deep friend snickers and twinkies sprinkled with powdered sugar....

OUR STATE FAIR IS HUGE!!! Honest to gosh...is the biggest one in the US...it lasts 2 weeks and has thousands of food vendors...people call it the "great Minnesota Eat Together." You could go for 30 years and not eat the same food twice 365 days a year...

WANNA COME??? It's Lot's of Walking Too!!
:confused3 :rotfl2:

Hi All--

Yes, I am a bread addict as well. Plus, I never met a peice of chocolate that I didn't love....mouthgasms! :rotfl2:

I am trying to put my shock of yesterday behind me...and I think I ought to make an effort to only try things on/go to dressing rooms like once a month...when there will be some noticable differences.

It's just that every day takes a lot of work and energy...so it's like, geez, I worked all day on this weight thing, I should get a LITTLE sumpin sumpin for all that work! :rotfl: I mean, show me the skinny! :lovestruc

Mine would have to be PIZZA (pepperoni with lots of cheese):thumbsup2
Plus salty foods, chips, popcorn, with lots of butter and saltpopcorn:: I can not go to a movie with out it. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT :lovestruc .

Dawn - You are a truly evil person for putting all of those thoughts of yummy goodness into my head...

Everybody should have to walk for 20 minutes just to work off the calories we took in from just thinking about that list....

Goof...

Popcorn is my weakness...butter and salt, but also kettle corn...but I will eat it any which way. I love popcorn!

I weighed in today and lost 3 lbs this week! So I guess losing my voice can be good, huh? :rotfl: Now I just need to get through the Super Bowl and my dear friend and her completely unhealthy and sabotaging food. Suggestions?

Oh, and sign me up for the Food Fair - sounds like heaven!

Good Morning!
Hope everyone is doing great today. Is today the day we post our weight loss? Who should we send it to?

Hi everyone...tomm is weigh in day....please send me a pm about your current weight and weight loss for the week!!! I am planing on eating air with a hint of butter to ensure I lost a pound or too!!! Congrats SeptemberGirl...you did great 3 weeks in a row...the only thing I am doing in a row is ROLOS!!!!:rotfl:

Need to find my connection to my momentum again!!! I think I will have a friend take a pic of me neked....my bedroom has no mirrors so it really is not a stretch to ignore my SBF, FBF, TBF and BBF....hmmm....3 DisKids...where can I get a 3 way mirror?:confused3 ;)

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing well... Everyones advice worked like a charm! I didn't go to the gym last night but I made pizza from flat out bread, pizza sauce and non fat mozzarella cheese... They weren't bad but no where near as good as the real thing. :cool1: Now I am at work so I will talk to all of you later on today! :)

Have a magical day! :wizard:
