In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Hello, Paula weather in MN just as bad, not a lot of snow today 1 1/2 inches, but the wind and the cold are taking over. It sure makes the roads a mess, icy and snow covered.

Dawn and I were talking about bra's the other day, it is really hard to find the right fit. I know I still don't have the right size or fit, :confused3 I probably should go to the specialty store and get fitted. Has anyone ever done that, and are you happy with the results?

Off to water arobics with Dawn, swim swim swim, I'm starting to feel like a dolphin:goodvibes

I didn't manage to make it to the gym after all, had to run an errand for Mr Kat and didn't have enough time to make it there before my friend was coming by.

Dawn, hope that you are feeling better and that you and J had a good time at water aerobics.

Bras are evil. I can never keep the darn straps up for some reason.

Food for today:
Brunch: potato/turkey sausage/red onion/eggbeaters hash (250), 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80), apple slices (70)
Dinner: Shepherd's pie (300), salad (100)
Snacks: 1 bag ff popcorn (180), 100 cal pack cupcakes, 100-cal ice cream cup.

Total, ~1200.

Hi guys! Nothing exciting today. I won't bore you with the non details.

I buy at Victoria's Secret. They do a fit and it works pretty good. But what they tell you is your size, is not really what is in your head or what you've been shopping for, so maybe you do need a fitting.

I couln't shop there when I was bigger. This is 5/6 years ago. When I lost weight the first time. I was finally small enough to actually buy there and have ever since. But if I keep going up on the scale instead of down, I'll have to stop. That is not the plan.

Dawn, Hugs for you. I'm glad you're not trapped in the hospital. Women just don't have time for being ill. You know when your a man, the WORLD STOPS when your sick. (not EVERY MAN, just a bunch. Grumps, see I'm thinking of you.) Dawn, be sure to keep us updated.

Think I'm gonna head. Night all.

Good morning all! :dance3:

After a really, really bad week last week, I feel like I am back on track. :yay: My friend and I have begun doing the Jillian Michaels New Year's Challenge plan. Still counting calories/WW points but doing the Jillian workouts  I know that I needed to change things up a bit, so I am hoping very much that this will be the jump start that my body needs.

Something that I became aware of - I wasn't eating enough fat. Not junk food fats, but good fats, like olive oil and nuts. In the last 2 days I added some fats and I feel much better already. :woohoo:

I'll let you all know how it works out.....but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at this point. :goodvibes

Snow, fats are really important. I know for me, I have to keep both fat and protein levels at a certain point or I feel it!

What is this Jillian New Year Challenge?? Do you have a link? I could really use some workout help. I feel like my weight training/elliptical mixture could easily get old...

Fats are definitely important! And I hadn't realized just how much I had cut out of my daily intake. I took a good hard look at what I'd been eating and realized that just a few seemingly minor changes had made such a big impact. I think my body was just trying to hold onto the excess fat it had, because I wasn't providing it what it needed on a daily basis. :headache:

I'm assuming that most everyone here is familiar with Jillian Michaels (better known as the KICK A** trainer on the Biggest Loser...) :worship: her website is: www.jillianmichaels.com My friend and I have signed up for her work out & diet plan. So far, I've only done 3 days of her workouts - 2 days have been circuit training, the other a cardio day. I've *loosely* followed her food plan - they give you weekly menus and a one-click shopping list. I need to finish "swapping" some of my meals before I finalize things and hit the grocery store today. Nothing earth shattering - of course no easy solution or quick fix :rolleyes1 but a slightly different approach than what I've been doing. I'm really hoping that it helps me get over this hump that I seem to be stuck on! :goodvibes

Okay... KICK!!! I will go if you will!! I am going to attack this mountain of laundry and then NOT sit down until I am out of the house and to the gym. I have slacked off this week and only gone twice and I need to start getting there at least 4 times if I want to get this weight off.

Thanks, Kat! That was the kick I needed! Actually, I was all suited up and ready to go to the gym...but then DH was out and my folks were gone, so I no one to watch the kids! So, no gym...:sad2: By the time DH got home, the gym was closed (2pm on Sat. What's up with that?). So he said, why don't you just go for your run outside? I figured...what the heck. If I can't do it, I'll just walk for 30 minutes...at least it is something. Well, I DID IT! I ran...outside...for 3 miles! I noticed that my pace was slower than when on the TM, but I don't give a rip. I was running! :cool1:

My life is looking up quite a bit at home. Mr Kat seems to have finally gotten his butt in gear about the diet and some of the other problems we have been having. I am almost like, what alien came down and replaced him? I am hoping that these changes stick.

Hope things continue like this!

So, why oh why do we have to wear swim suits!!!:scared1: I am leaving on Feb. 23 for a week to Fort Meyers Beach FL. with my girls and about 70 local people from my small town. That part is ok, the swim suit not so ok. :sad2: There is just not a suit out there that makes my body look even a little good . :scared: Believe me I have tried all kinds, from Lane Bryant, JC Penny's, Kohls, and Target. They either ride up the butt giving me the not so sexy thong look:eek: pull down on the ****s making them sag even farther south. :headache: and don't even get me started on the little skirts. They just accent my dibbles on my thighs, plus the little tops you wear with them does not stay down so my puchie belly hangs out. NOT COOL:cool2: ... I just wanted to cry this morning looking in the long mirror. I think the neck to toe moomoo is my choice :thumbsup2

OMG, Jodi, I feel for you. Trying on bathing suits is the WORST kind of torture! I am in desparate need of a new one, but can't imagine the thought of the shiny satan (3-way mirror) while trying on bathing suits! Pants and tops were bad enough! :scared1:

Dawn and I were talking about bra's the other day, it is really hard to find the right fit. I know I still don't have the right size or fit, :confused3 I probably should go to the specialty store and get fitted. Has anyone ever done that, and are you happy with the results?

I have often wondered about this. I have never been professionally fitted and have always wondered what the difference would be. I have decided when I get to goal, I am going to go out and really splurge on bras! I mean, the good ones (which are supposed to make a difference) are REALLY expensive.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone! Keep going strong! Dawn--I hope you are feeling better! Rest and take care of YOU. :flower3:

Ok this is not the way to lose weight, I am having a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy done in the morning. So I have not been about to eat since 10pm last night and can not have anything but clear liq. today.:guilty: Boy was making dinner for the family hard. I don't know if anyone out there has ever been through this process, but I don't recommend it.
Gross Alert :scared1: I had to start drinking a gallon and 1/2 of clear gross (like alkaceler (sp) with out the fizz) at around 5 pm and within an hour I started to run to the bathroom:eek: it is now 7 and I feel like someone used sandpaper on my butt.:sad2: This lovely process is suppose to clean me out, and it is (inside out). The sad sad part is I am soo hungry, popcorn:: . SURE WISH I COULD HAVE SOME OF THAT POPCORN. wait, I am starting to talk to the screen.

Dawn is bring me to my appt. it is not until 11 am., NO food until 1 or so....heaven help me.:scared: Dawn is driving so she will have to be on the look out for a subway. I might even have a foot long, well, maybe not, but still I will definitly need food.

Wish me luck through the night, not sure if I should have bought depends or not:rotfl2:. PJ bottoms are probably a good idea tonight....:)

Have a good evening I going to the couch for awhile (this area is closest to the bathroom)

Hi Gang...

I was out for the day and made it to Saratoga to walk around the little shops and such... I have a stack of postcards for whoever needs a little inspiration or motivation from upstate NY. PM me your address and I will send a note out to you from the 'real' Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa....

MamaJoBear - good luck tomorrow... I remember when my father went for his and it was not fun... I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and eat what you want when you can.. you deserve it after this fast... Tell Dawn that I am glad she is well enough to go to your aqua aerobics class... I have mine tomorrow and I can't wait...

As for the bra shopping, I did get fitted at Lane Bryant, but I am not entirely convinced that it was the best fit. There is a specialty shop in the area that I have been meaning to check out and am hoping to get there in the next week or two. I'll keep you posted on how things go...

Hockey Kat - I have been meaning to ask you... what hockey team do you follow? I am a bit of a hockey fan myself and like the NJ Devils, but wasn't sure who your team was...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend... Mine went pretty well eating wise. I am off to walk my 2 mile DVD tonight to keep the exercise thing going... I worked out 6 out of 7 days this week so I am pretty pysched about that... I bought the Biggest Loser DVD from Season 1 as I think I am ready for some more advanced aerobics. I'll let you know if I can keep up with Bob's bootcamp or not... The squats and lunges are making me nervous...

Have a great night everyone and I'll talk to you tomorrow,
Paula

I grew up in Pittsburgh and a Penguins fan, but I also root for the "home team" here, the Carolina Hurricanes. I've been through two Cup runs with them, went to every game in both (including game 7 stanley cup win in '06), and have spent season as a partial season ticket holder. Can't say I am much of a Devils fan!

Actually, Mr Kat and I met playing ice hockey. I decided in '02, at age 27, to learn to skate/play. I don't do it much anymore and I was never any good, but for a while I was in an adult rec league. Tons of fun and great exercise!

J, good luck tomorrow!

I had a pretty good day, I guess... made it to the gym but the power was out so they let us use the elliptical until it got dark. I only got 25 min in so I am about to go down and use my mini-stepper for 20 minutes.
Food:
Brunch: Tuna melts (350), cauliflower and ff onion dip (100)
Dinner: Golden Corral. Big dinner salad (~100), rotisserie chicken breast w/ no skin (120), 4 oz steak (200?), 2 pieces tilapia (120), and cauliflower/broccoli (50).
So total, 1050? Probably more than that, since I can only guesstimate the calories in the Golden Corral except for the ones that they had listed like the tilapia and veggies. Hopefully there weren't more than 300 or so hiding in there!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Kat - My love of the Devils came from watching their AHL farm team here in Albany- the River Rats. A couple of years ago, the Devils moved their players to Lowel, Mass and Carolina became the new NHL affiliate, so I guess we share something in common there... I used to be a season ticket holder, but I couldn't make it to all of the games. I am still trying to get to know the new players, but it is nice to watch a winning team again...

Well - I did my first Biggest Loser workout instead of my walking and man - did it kick my butt... It is a bit harder than the straight walking DVD, but it is definitely a great workout...

I am off to bed now - have a great night everyone...

hey everyone!
I know I totally fell off the face of the planet but this weekend and last week I fell of the wagon completely... pizza, chinese food, tortilla chips, cookies... they all were involved...:scared1: :scared1: DH says its ok and to just get back up but I felt sooo guilty... I had been doing so good... I hope everyone is doing better than me and is healthy and happy...

Have a good one!

Paula you rock on the exercise 2 thumbs :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 . Do you do all your exercise at home? Keep up the great job and the squats and lunges will defintly pay off, they S---!, but are great for the thighs and butt. Hey maybe I should start doing them. :)

Oh man does your food choices sound wonderful I love them all, expecially tonight since I can't have anything. . I shouldn't complain it is only for 1 day and night. I do agree with your DH it will be ok, we all goof here and there, just do some extra walking. Sometimes I just need a day to eat what I want and be ok with it. Otherwise I think I would go completely nuts, or banana;s:banana:, Hang in there I will give you a hug for comfort.

Kat, are you only counting cal. or do you some program? I see everyone has a different way of losing weight, I have tried pretty much every diet program out there, and lost weight, but then gained it back again plus more. :sad1: As I get older I don't really want the quick fix anymore, just something I can lose and get healthier on. Plus live in the real world, because I love food and we are a family on the run..

Well it is probably time for me to go back to bed, I fell asleep around 9 but my DH flipped all the lights on the made a ton of noise coming to bed around 11 and now I am awake. He can lay his head on the pillow and be out in 2 seconds. Not me, my brain keeps on working overtime.

Thanks for the well wishes and I hope everyone here has a wonderful Monday. Jodi

Sarah - we all stumble along the way... our imperfection shows us that we are human afterall.... you will have a better week this week and your hubby is right, you need to stop feeling guilty and get back up and try again... Temptation is an evil thing to deal with, but we all give in from time to time... Stop beating yourself up with guilt and focus on the positive things that you have done...

Jodi - I have been doing my DVD's at home and my swim class at a local high school. The DVD's have been great because I tend to do my workouts around 10:00 at night and I don't have to worry about driving anywhere or coming out to a dark parking lot alone... Plus, I can wear what I want and fall into bed once my heart rate calms down... (last night being one of those nights...). The lunges and squats were kicking this big ole butt last night. It is going to take me some time to build some endurance for those...

Anyways, good luck with your tests this morning and tell Dawn that we miss her on the boards...

WE HAVE A LOT OF MISSING PEOPLE.....PAGING THE HIDERS.... WE LOVE YOU COME BACK !!!!!!

Okay I am back from my 10 day WDW trip. I finally have had enough time in my day to deal with what I knew was coming here on DIS... I knew I needed at least a solid hour to go through everything on this and some other threads!

I have gotten through page 36 or so and am about to go back and read more.

The only specific comments I have so far :
to grumpy... I am a member of the Peep thread and have been since last March, and I can assure you that the spreadsheet isn't plagarism, he has been doing those since last summer. Just unlucky coincidence.

Glad you are back and I know I was just trying to be funny. Obviously I didnt do a good job of it. :thumbsup2

Anywhoo....I spent the weekend with my kids. I am so glad to be able to spend time with them. I miss them and they miss me when I have to travel for my job. I started to read the 90 pages I missed and gave up posting just 1 reply....so if I missed anyone that posted to me I apologize.

In addition, I wanted to say....ahemm......

Where did everyone GO?????

Did Debbie get eaten by a rogue run away moose. nabbed by the mounties. Tied to the tracks by snidely whiplash....any of those things right? I am missing my peeps....help me please...

Happy crappy Monday All,

We had a terrible weekend and it just keeps getting worse. Yesterday, when my dad went to pick-up my grandfather for church, he fouind him naked and laying on the bathroom floor. Everything was covered with feces and urine and my grandfather was completely delusional. Sadly, he had fallen Thursday night and had been lying there since. We see him every week for church and talk to him several times a week. He is super active for someone who is 83, in fact he still drives so it is , they of course ran a boat load of tests. He has a raging urinary tract infection that has gone septic. He has HUGE sores on his hip and shoulder that have become necrotic and need surgery. And the topper, the hospital called this morning with the results of the scan they did and he broke his neck. He is not a good surgical candidate because of his age and the only other option if they absolutely can't do surgery is a permanent neck brace. The spot where the break is is aparently very close to the area that controls his breathing. Now this man is VERY independent and refuses help. We have hired maid services and he fires them, we hired a lawn care service, yep, he canned them. He wants to do it all on his own. Just last month he put together a shed in his backyard. When they told him he will probably have to live in a nursing home permanently he said he would rather die. It is just so sad. He loves my boys and is a fantast great-grandpa. He was crying last night because he is so worried about his 17 year old cat because everyone in the family is allergic and can't take him. It is heart breaking. My granmother died early last year and his beloved cat has been his constant companion since.

And while extremely trivial in the great scheme of things, my knee is still a wreck. It is just adding insult to injury.

Bird... My heart goes out to you... We had a similar event with my grandmother about two years ago... It happened when my parents and my two uncles were all out of town, so it was up to my sister and I to get her settled into her new home at the nursing home. It is not an easy task to do and the adjustment for everyone will be hard, but know that sometimes, the hard thing is the right thing to do. After about three months, Gram settled in and is quite happy there... Bring in some of his favorite blankets, pictures, and other things from home to help him adjust. It will get easier... I promise...

In the meantime, I'm sending you hugs to help get you through...
