In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Ahhhhh, my most favorite topic. Planning a DISNEY vacation.

Hey gang,

first - a warning, this is a little off the weight loss topic, but I am in need of some advice...

As my siggie shows, I am heading to Disney in December with my sister and parents to celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. In doing all of the research to find a great deal and a place to stay, I need some guidance as to which deal to pick...

Option #1:
(as quoted by my local AAA travel rep)
2 rooms for 7 nights / 8 days at POR or POFQ with DDP and park hoppers for everyone.... cost of $1000/pp

upgrade to WL.... cost of $1200/pp

AAA is the best of Option 1 & 2. Less money for same perks. You'll also get the AAA parking card which is helpful if you plan to drive to any parks. You'll also get the coupon/discount card for World of Disney. I "think" both rooms will need to have a AAA member in them.

POR - LOVE that hotel. We stayed there twice before we realized we wanted to try them all. The resort is VERY big. Long walks to food court. I'd pay the extra $10 per night for a preferred location. There are four bus stops at POR, and it also shares with POFQ. But, it didn't seem to be a problem.

Dying to stay at POFQ. Doesn't look quite as spread out at PO, and it is the first stop with the busses. First on to a park and first off when going back.

WL - it was ok. I'm not a diehard fan. The bussing was not as good as other Disney Hotels, but that could have been a fluke. It shares busing with CR, Poly, GF. The boat is the way to MK.

Option #2:
(as quoted by Disney w/ 20% off code)
2 rooms for 7 nights / 8 days at POR or POFQ with DDP and park hoppers for everyone.... cost of $1100/pp

upgrade to WL.... cost of $1350/pp

See above comments.

Option #3:
(as quoted by a close friend who is willing to rent me her DVC points)
2 studios for 7 nights / 8 days at SSR with DDP and park hoppers for everyone.... cost of $1000/pp

SSR is also very big. And studios will include a real bed and a fold out couch. So if you and your sis are sharing, you might be sharing the bed too, if everyone refuses the fold out couch. You'll have a kitchenette, good. And close to DTD, lots of restaurant options.

So my question is this...

Where should we stay? Any info or pros / cons of each would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Paula... aka - Goof the confused...

All I can think of for now...

SSR - Hands down! SO beautiful! And with all adults, you have great access to DTD and PI for the nights, etc.

Now - I may have to seek out some small form of a reese's peanut butter cup.. I am having wicked cravings for one today and am not sure why. I may have to succomb to the craving and walk off the calories unless someone has an alternative / healthier suggestion for the classic peanut butter and chocolate goodness that is a peanut butter cup...

Yes I have a solution for you....

Punch a hole in the middle of the cup....let sit for 3 minutes....then eat the whole thing.....

This process allows ample time for the calories to drain out of the middle and thereby making this a diet food...

There is a lot of knowledge here....One other thing you may wish to do is share your other travel plans and maybe we can give you a better value on those items as well. Sometimes how to receive discounts is a matter of who you know.....

I travel about 260 days a year so let me know and maybe I can help in another manner. Anyway good luck.

This was my next thought...I will pull up point charts and see which is better that time of year...2 studios or 1 2-BR. If the 2 BR makes financial sense, then it really is a no-brainer! LOVE those 2 BRs!

Man work is slow today... LOL!! :surfweb: I am ready for lunch.... Actually I am ready for the weekend! I made my reservations for the Walk in Walts Footsteps Tour!!! By the time I take it I'm hoping to be a bit thinner to look cuter in the pics :) Hope everyone is being more productive than me... LOL!

Walk in Walts Footsteps Tour. DH and I did this in Sept 06. You'll love it. Highly recommend if you are a touring type. We do tons of tours and always recommend them, but no one ever goes.:confused3

During the tour you get to go into the lobby of Club 33. (if you don't know what Club 33 is, find out before you go!http://www.disneylandclub33.com/)

In Club 33, there is an antique elevator and we got to step in it and have our picture taken by our tour guide with our camera. Anyway, we got home and I had the pictures developed, and promptly deleted the files. I am thumbing thru the pics and 3 blank pictures show up. Guess what they were. I was soooooooo dissappointed. That was a life lesson. I ALWAYS put my files on a disk now. If I ever get to DL again, I will take that tour again, just for that stinkin' elusive picture.

If only I had known.

Hi...studios at SSR are 1 couch and 1 pullout and the OKW is 2 queen beds...
2 bedroom at SSR is 243 points for the week and at OKW a 2 bedroom is 218.

The nice part ofchanging rooms is that it gives you a sample of another resort...we are arriving on a Sunday so we will not have to move 2 times and will end at the POLY. This means we will be all set to leave and only will unpack at the Poly 1 days of clothes....might speed up leaving on time...;)

This is BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!!

I am going to run down the ten flights of stairs to the convenient store to buy one so I can test out your theory....

THANKS!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I've heard so much about this tour I am so excited. DH says I have an obsession with Disney because I read everything I can get my hands on. I love all things disney so I am hoping they will teach me something I don't know... LOL... DH is worried that I might correct the tour guide... :lmao:

I don't know how you have the patience for all of that travelling, but if it is on someone else's dime.. why not... Let me know if you find yourself in NY, I can recommend some great places to visit / eat / etc.

As for advice, I have three words for you...

need cheap flights....

I am purposely keeping the flights out of my quotes, because I am sure to do better by booking that separately... I live within driving distance of three major airports including one that has Southwest flights so I am confident that I will find something...

Thanks again for the input..

Dawn - I have been reading that some of the 2 bedrooms at SSR are just a one bedroom with a connecting studio, so that still leaves the whole someone is sleeping on the sofabed issue. Of course, that person will likely be me because if my sister ain't happy then ain't no one gonna be happy... (I love the gal and all, but she can be a bit needy if you catch my drift...)...

As the family trip planner, I sometimes hate being the one left to make the decisions....:confused3

Oh well - I am going to Disney so that is pretty cool....

1. Check all flights from all airports sometimes there is a drastic difference in price by driving a little farther. Once we drove 2 hours to a different airport and the savings was over $800 for 4 tickets...worth the drive.

2. Check flight days....M, T, W, TH, are cheaper than F, SA, and Sunday is usually the worst price by farrrrrrr.

3. Check with associations you belong to. The airfare is sometimes cheaper by affiliation.

4. Once you have a price call the airline directly. Ask LOTS of questions. You can usually find an agent at the airlines who is willing to divulge some additional info if you are persistent. Sometimes you have to tell them about your sick aunt Minnie or uncle Micky that you are going to visit...:rolleyes1 :thumbsup2

See thats what I am saying... Why would I, the guru of all that is Disneyland, let someone misinform other tourists... :lmao: :rotfl2: Disney is like my second love.... If DH was not around I may just become a disney nun and devote my life to it... LOL! :rotfl:

What a responsible, civic minded person you are...:lmao:
