In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Hi Gang!

I am in for whatever charity/weight loss/exercise thing we agree on.

Catching up on all the posts - spent the weekend shopping and doing laundry, which has got to burn calories, right? :rotfl:

Have a good Monday, everyone!

Hi!!!! By the Way....you were the Biggest Weight Loss success story of week 2....MaMaBearJo is week#3!!!
Can I get a Hooray form the Body Board Babes for this awesome duo of shrinking, slinky sexpots!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :rainbow: :jumping1: party:

Good Monday morning everyone! :wave2:

I'm just popping in to wish you all well today - I am still sick. Oh, so miserably sick. :headache: Call in Dr Kevorkian and put me out of my misery sick. :sad2:

But (as my favorite Knights are fond of saying...) Always look on the bright side of life :rolleyes1 (If you aren't whistling now, then....oh, I've got nuthin'. Did I say I'm sick?).....

ADD kicked in again....back to my previous thought. Looking on the bright side here - I lost another 1/2 pound over the weekend. Probably I'm dehydrated, but hey - I'll take it for the moment! ;)

oh - and Dawn - my hiney was showing too because I also was way confused about what skin was being discussed! :rotfl2:

No, I'm not dead yet. As a matter of fact, it's only a flesh wound:lmao:

DH and I both have a Dr.'s appointment this a.m. I'm fully expecting "plague" :thumbsup2 Honestly though I think it's bronchitis (sp?) regardless of what it is, I just hope there is a drug they can give me to kick it in it's little germy a** I just need to get my life back.

Let's make this the week a week of strong wills to not eat bad and love ourselves good!!! I am asking all of us to commit to our bodies and our brains this week....not our bellies! :thumbsup2

I'll play around with this and see what I can find....;)

akasnowwhite: I hope you feel better soon, my DD has had an awful cough and chest cold for about three weeks. Now this morning I heard the other DD coughing and blowing her nose. Sorry Dawn I know your DD was with us this last weekend.::idea: I can see why they are getting sick around here, are weather goes from -12 to 40 above every other week.:headache:

Thanks for the cheer, not sure if there will be any weight loss this week. I took 6 teenage girls to Wisconsin Dells this past weekend and there was not much for me to do but the lazy river and eat. They have weight limits on the slides and I did not want walk all the way to the top again and have someone inforce the rules, so I just played it safe. I did get back on track Sunday and this morning, so let's see where the week takes me. (hopefully down):)

Everyone have a wonderful Monday and lets kiss some weightloss buttie with week.:thumbsup2

Does shivering count as exercise? :confused3

IT totally counts....brrrrr!

Hi! I was lurking on the boards last weekend, planning a trip to the world for next December and decided to look around a bit on the WISH board to get some motivation for the diet I'd been thinking about. ( I'd like to lose about 40 pounds before our trip.) When I stumbled upon this thread....

I have spent my free time this last week reading the whole thing and I have been inspired to really get serious about losing the weight. I even went out and bought a set of scales.

Guess I need to pick a plan. ......

YAY!! Another newbie like me. Welcome. This place is all warm and fuzzy.

I am so pumped, I just want to kiss somebody (wish my DH wasn't sleeping:love: ). Anyway, I just wanted to share with all of my new WISH friends - we CAN do this. We WILL do this. 2008 is MY year. I OWN it!! WATCH ME GO!!!

Susan

WTG, Susan!!! You should be super proud of yourself. You totally own 2008!!!

There is supposed to be a third yellow star. I ran out of time. Everyone else in class made one color and got to icing. I and my OCD had to get ALL my colors ready first then decorate.

It was fun. But my gosh, my hand got tired. We wrote with icing, made roses and stars.

I ate a piece. When everone was done (my family) I threw the rest away.:cheer2:

Very pretty! How did you get the icing so smooth before you decorated it? A cook I am not :sad2:

I hear you both on the kidney horror stories. I won't add all of the details from my family, but suffice to say we are in the midst of a malpractice lawsuit.

Of course, we could also do something Disney-related since that is something all of us have in common as well. Make a Wish or Give Kids the World.

I am shocked to read that so many people on this thread are dealing with related health issues either personnaly or with loved ones. I had no idea kidney disease was so common. I love the idea of "Make a Wish" or "Give Kids the World".

I TOTALLY kicked that treadmill's as s today! Wa-HOO! I am posting here because no one in my family gets it. I came bounding home from the gym and proudly announced to my kids...I JUST RAN THREE MILES!! (Note--not consecutive...I did have to stop and walk in between, which is what Couch to 5k is about. But I ran for a total of 25 minutes...with the walking parts added in I was on the treadmill for 40 minutes...so more running than walking!)

Anyway, the kids had no reaction. I guess I can't blame them (ages 5, 6 and 8) as they don't really understand what that means. And DH's response was, "Is that good?" Aaaaarrrrgggh!

So I know the Body Board Babes will understand why I am proud of my accomplishment. I can't tell you how I great I feel!

You ROCK!!! 3 MILE.....That is AWESOME!! I am at 2 miles at week 2 day 3. I strat week 3 today. Did you know that itunes has a podcast for runners specifically for the C25k? It is really good and you don't have to worry about keeping track of the minutes because it does that for you. An added bonus is the great music to keep you moving. It really helps me but you are much further along in the program than my sorry butt.

Thanks for the welcome Dawn and everyone else! I think this thread was just in the right place at the right time. And the candid honesty and humor made me feel like I could just fit right in.

WELCOME!! I am a newbie as well and think I stumbled upon this thread for a reason as well.

You guys have to check out the DIS Unplugged podcast! I won it through a Virtual Disney Cruise Houseparty held on the Chat Rooms, hosted by Dreams Unlimited (you know, Pete Werner's travel agency?).

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is fantastic! I uploaded a bunch of the DIS podcasts but haven't listened to them yet. I will be checking it out while I trudge away on the elliptical tonight.

Good Monday morning everyone! :wave2:

I am sorry you are feeling so lousy. Here's hoping for some good, strong drugs!! I had the stmach crud 2 weeks ago and lost 7lbs :scared1: In retrospect it wasn't worth the suffering.

Let's make this the week a week of strong wills to not eat bad and love ourselves good!!! I am asking all of us to commit to our bodies and our brains this week....not our bellies! :thumbsup2

What do we think of having a mascot for our Board??? I know other threads do and I just thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate good vibes and great motivation!:goodvibes

I am with you Dawn! I love Mondays if for no other reason than it feels like a clean slate.

I second that!!!! :dance3: I think having a mascot is an awesome idea!

I hope everyone has an awesome week!!!

Here is a quick story for you. Be warned...it ain't pretty.

For my birthday, I was given 8 sessions with a personal trainer so every Saturday I willing meet with this person so she can torture and maime me. Don't get me wrong, I love it and will be sorry when my 8 sessions are over but oy, I hurt the next day. In fact, my abs still hurt today. Anywho, way off track here. She started a new workout for me this weekend and let me tell you, it is HARD!! The hardest of all has me straddling a 2-tiered step (you know, like the ones you use in step aerobic classes) and I have to jump onto the top and off again and on again for 1 minute straight. Sounds easy...well it's not...at all. It hurts. ALOT! Anyway, I am dying, and huffing and puffiing through the first minute when my mommy bladder gave way. Only enough to make me uncmfortable, thankfully not on the floor or the step. Honestly, having children just strips you of all dignity.:sad2:

I know exactly how you feel... I met with my trainer whom I see twice a month on Wednesday and today I finally stopped hurting... LOL... Thursday wasn't so bad but Friday was awful. He had me do this thing where I laid down on my stomach and pushed my feet to the wall. Then I put my forearms on the mat and lifted my mid section for 10 seconds 3 times... then I did the same thing on each side... OMG I wanted to kill myself... It was soooo hard.... :lmao: Lets just say I felt it for a while...

No, I'm not dead yet. As a matter of fact, it's only a flesh wound:lmao:

First, I love the Monty Python references going back and forth! :rotfl2: Second, hope you feel better, Nancy! Hang in there and here's some pixie dust :wizard: for getting good drugs at the doc!

Count me in! I will definitely make that commitment this week! In fact, I changed my routine starting today and did my run in the morning. Yup, I am already back from the gym! I think that will help keep me on track for the rest of the day...don't want that run to be wasted!

As for a mascot....sounds fun! You know what my vote is already...a chciken!
:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Goals: Run a 5K this spring, lose 30 lbs, wear a skirt for the first time in 20 years and most importantly, finally feel good about me.

My goals are almost identical! Except for the skirt thing...due to my (shall we say) unusual shape, I look slimmer in skirts.

I am shocked to read that so many people on this thread are dealing with related health issues either personnaly or with loved ones. I had no idea kidney disease was so common. I love the idea of "Make a Wish" or "Give Kids the World".

That is another reason, I think, we we all have just bonded with this thread...there is just so much here...love of Disney, desire to be more fit and healthy, some with marital issues, all with food issues, common medical crises...it seems to go on and on. What a great support thread!

That is AWESOME news! Thank you SO much for the info. I am addicted to my iPod (Dawn...get on the clue bus already! :rotfl: ) and will subscribe immediately!

I had an amazing work out this morning, so I feel great! And best of all...I am done for the day!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is fantastic! I uploaded a bunch of the DIS podcasts but haven't listened to them yet. I will be checking it out while I trudge away on the elliptical tonight.

I think you will love it. Fun and informative. It might take you a few of them before you really understand all of the personalities, their styles and sense of humor, etc. So if you are not riveted from the get go, give it a couple of times.

Been there, done that! Yup, three kids creates havoc on your bladder control! I am thinking of having the surgery...it is outpatient and laproscopic...they basically just put a few stitches in your baldder and ureter so that things are not as...ummm....loose....

You have been added. Pressure's on now baby!

What is Ornithologist?

Full time contractor of what?

I also was addicted to the GB. Tetris was a cruel lover. (Truthfully, I could go HEAD TO HEAD right now with Anyone in Tetris. Adding sheepishly...I don't think the kiddos play that one anymore.)

Very pretty! How did you get the icing so smooth before you decorated it? A cook I am not :sad2:

Trick I learned the first night. Once you ice the cake, smooth as possible, let it set for 20 minutes or longer. Then...take a piece of parchment paper and lay down on the cake and rub your hand on it and voila, smooth, beautiful decorating surface. Then do the same to the sides.

3KD - Working out in the morning is the best. Nothing to dread later and you eat better, not wanting to ruin the hard work. I'm a little bit jelous.

DDawn - did you listen to an unplugged podcast? They are halarious! Bawb for President-o,

I look better in skirts too. I'd just like to be able to wear a skirt and not have to wear panythose that I've cut off from the knee down. I can't be having thigh to thigh skin rubbage. YIKES!

Why is no-one mailing me a vile of germs. I need a weight dropping bug like nobody's business. I think we've gone over this.;)

HockeyKat - hope you're having a good time. We're thinking of you.

Welcome Kim:hug:

My husband loves birdwatching two, I swear he can almost name any bird that lands on our bird feeders.. Yes Dawn, My big bad Harley riding man loves his birds. :confused3

Some on you talk about running, I wish I could but I hate it so :confused3 I Can't breath, my knee's kill, I feel like someone hooked an anchor to my butt and is pulling me back :sad2:. It seems like a lot of people lose wait faster by running.

I am glad someone else did not know what a Ornithologist was. :)

I to have done the pt, I loved it, seem to be working:banana: But then the funds ran out. Sure wish they were not so expensive:sad2:

Why is no-one mailing me a vile of germs. I need a weight dropping bug like nobody's business. I think we've gone over this.;)

Ok, this just happened to me this morning at the gym...I swear! There is this woman in town that I have been friendly with for years, Sally. We each have 3 kids, all the same ages, so we run into each other all the time (it is also a small town, so you pretty much run it to everyone all the time...).

Anyway, after Sally and I each had our third kids, we also had on the same extra 30-ish pounds. Each time over the past several years that we would run into one another, we would lament about the weight, how hard it is to get off when you have to manage three kids...no time for yourself, etc.

Well, I haven't seen Sally in a few months..not since before T'Giving at least. And today...there she was at the gym...and RAIL thin! So of course I was like, "WOW...you look great...what did you do to get the weight off?" and on and on. Again, we had been kindred spirits when it came to weight....

And she said, "I had a parasite...."

And I laughed thinking it was a joke (because really, she had lost a LOT of weight).

But she said that she was serious...had gotten some water-born parasite and was really sick for a while, lost tons of weight, etc.

Now, I was trying really hard to look normal....but I must have failed and the jealousy showed on my face! :rotfl2: Cause she said, "yeah, I know...you want the recipe. My sisters do, too!" :rotfl: :lmao:

Anyway, just thought I would share!

Skirts.... what are those.... I spend my days in jeans crawling around dusty attics or wandering through muddy construction sites... I forgot what it was like to actually dress like a woman with girly shoes and everything... Clark shoes have replaced Manolo's as my shoe of choice....

Someday though, I'll be able to wear a skirt or a dress and look hot in it... I'll get there... We will all get there (OK - Grumps you can wear a great suit and look hot too...)

I am all for the mascot but can offer no real suggestions as to what or who it should be...

Those of you who are doing the couch to 5k program are inspiring. I am not up to running yet (my doctor said to stay away from the high impact stuff otherwise rish blowing out my knees) but the programs sounds awesome. Hopefully in time, my doctor will lift the ban and I can try it. Until then, I'll be walking, swimming, stair climbing, etc to get my sweat on.

Dawn - get thee an i-pod.... the options for podcasts, music, etc. are amazing. The cheapest one is a shuffle and runs about $79.00 and you can upload your own music to start. Many of the podcasts are free so you can get those up and running with very little cost impact. I know things are crazy right now, but if you can figure out a way to do it - go for it. Until then, download i-tunes to your computer (its free) so you can listen in on the free podcasts from your computer...

Have a great day everyone... I have my Jenny Craig appointment tonight so I'll let you know how I did. I am feeling pretty good about it, but am hoping that the piece of pizza I ate yesterday doesn't come back to bite me in the butt when I step on the scale...

Talk to you soon -
Goof
