In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Morning. Looks like more time on either the bike or the elliptical for me today. Gag me.

I finally watched BL, so feel free to comment. :goodvibes EE--you should totally watch it. It's a great show, and I watch very little tv. (Of course, I watch a lot more now that there are sites like hulu. I don't think I actually every watch tv...I just watch the shows that I want on hulu on my computer while working. :lmao:

Lisa--you are cracking me up!

Paula--family dinner?

OMG, speaking of TV...I haven't watched Oprah in over 10 years but I am going to watch today! Wowza.

Great Morning to you all! Long post ahead!

A thought I had while Nancy was talking about thinking of Jeans B:upsidedow:upsidedowbs and her own at the same time...

Funniest thing I have eevr heard Oprah say was...

"Once I was a 40 D - now I am a 42 long."
:rotfl2::lmao:

That still cracks me up!

Warning: Food Post ahead - I know we try and stay away from long posts about food to try and not tempt - but this meal changed my mental switch on food and consumption. I had an epiphany on how much food I eat and don't enjoy comparingly and how much I in the past was a quantity vs quality person.

This meal will be my measuring stick on, "do I really want to eat this and is it worth the calories compared to this meal." We don't usually go out to eat, but I know how many times I have had a sweet or a plate of mac n cheese just becase I thought it tasted great. Cr@p I have eaten at the state fair that was like eating dirt compared to this meal.

I have new standards now folks. If that means I can save my calories and my money and eat here and treat myself to not only a night out, but food that is truly a special moment, I have done not only my body a favor but also my pocketbook. Because lets face it: Mc Donalds, Applebees, Outback, etc., is not gormet food - it isn't the most expensive but it also does not make me slow down and really enjoy the sensation of the meal. You do not want to break apart or reconfigure your bite to see if you can come up with new flavors. A fry is a fry is a fry. Maybe more salt or ketchup but you still at the end, have a fry.

The garlic plate we had as an appetizer. Had apple chutney, roasted garlic and goat cheese with baguettes. Every bite was a different explosion. You could mix and match the sides, the amounts, the layering and each bite was a whole new sensation of flavor.

The place is very small and intimate, nothing is mass produced or deep fried. Just exquisite cooking. Truly a taste for the mouth to linger on. I did not want to swallow the bites because I did not want to loose the taste.

Dan and I have vowed we will not ever again be going out to eat anywhere locally but here or somewhere comparable. Reasonable food portions and not too shabby of prices - but the quality - better than anything I have eaten at Disney by far. The meal lasted 3 hours almost and the portions were less than half of what the chains give you.

For the first time in my life I feel like I can imagine how Europeans eat both in pace and quality.

Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out. We had been there 2 years ago once and Treyner and his prom group went there for dinner. Have no clue why we have not been back.

http://128cafe.net/index.htm

I had the 1/2 ribs (voted best in MN) and he had the pork tenderloin. His boss who travels all over the country eating out most of his life - said by far -better than any upscale place he has ate at in Chicago or LA. He is going back tonight to get the pork tenderloin.

Sorry for the rant - but this was huge for me. Just a growing up point on food and quality and what I deserve versus what I have been doing to myself.

E - the six parties are from just talking to friends and family. Truthfully - way easier than Tupperware. There are a few with younger girls that as soon as they heard what it was and saw the catalog - were wanting a party while there is no way in heck - Tupperware would ever have appealed to them.

Yesterday I got 4 vendor events at local hospitals in November so people can do their holiday shopping! That for me is huge becase if I can do most of the events during the day at offices etc - I am home evenings. With Tupp it was a presentation and you could never get it formatted right in a 30 minute lunch break - pieces need explaining. With jewelry - a bit of explanation but most people can figure out the basics of a ring or a bracelet!

I will let you all know how it goes!

The potential for a stress fracture dos not sound good at all. :headache:

Nancy - what pieces do you have and what do you like about them? I have my "debut" or open house on Friday night. As in this week. Need to figure out a bit of food but having some beverages and music and just a relaxing time.

Jodi and I are swimming today. I am buying a tape measurer to get some before and after numbers. Motivation not just about the scale.

Investigator for the law firm we are going with if we decide on a lawyer for Baylor is coming tonight to start digging into the potential for Baylor.

Oh and guess what I found out this weekend... :confused3

We are going to probably move the wedding date. Last March and June the school calendar and district office had confirmed that our school would be out the 4th of June. In fact going back to my notes - we had printed the calendar for my kids school out to use as a planning sheet. So I know I am not crazy.

We decided on the 15th of June so we could have a week after to get ready - it is possible that we/ one of us would drive down there depending on what we needed to bring. So a over a week between would give us time to get down there, have a few days at WDW with the kids all together before the wedding, get to Vero and confirm everything is in order because the flowers and cake , music etc. are seperate vendors. I wanted a calm, enjoyable, not stressed time.

While looking at the year out for times off and comapring Treyner's schedule, the my other two's schedule and Dan's girls schedule - Dan saw that the date for my kids have changed for release.

It is now not the 4th - but the 11th! :scared1:

Wedding was supposed to be the 15th. We can't move things after the wedding because Dan's oldest needs to be back in NE by the 17th for a church mission trip departing on the 18th.

So now what? If the school would allow my two to take finals early - Baylor would miss his 8th grade gradation ceremony and that is a big deal to them.

I think we are going to have to move it to July - but it will depend on what Vero has available for accomodations and weddings. What Dan's brother has for conflicts as he is the pastor and may have other weddings. I am not sure what to do. We may just stick with it and forgo the WDW part - just will depends on availibility. UGH!

The reason BTW the school changed at the last minute - the state of MN had late voting in the summer on if kids here would start before or after labor day. It was voted that they would start after so the schools here had to change there starting date with Labor Day so late this year and thus - go a week later.

I have had such an awesome morning!

1st - Cash discount availibility for Vero booking is wide open in July!!:worship:

Looking at last week in July to make sure we can go to the family burn camp.

2nd - just talked with the social worker (her name is Mickey :rotfl:) from the burn center to confirm burn camp dates - told her about Silpada and she said immediately that she loved Silpada! Asked if I can come to her already arranged girls night next Friday! So I will have 2 parties next wekend already! :worship:

Off to swim with Jodi! It is amazing how life can turn your mood around when you stop fighting against your gut. I have known I did not like and resented Tupperware for a long time now.

You can only stand at a crossroads for so long before you have to pick a path and then you look back wondering what you were so afraid of!

Now - Project Runway? Never seen it.

(said with a hiss) And you call yourself a seamstress!!!! ForSHAME!!!

OMG, speaking of TV...I haven't watched Oprah in over 10 years but I am going to watch today! Wowza.

What? McKenzie Phillips? Oprah has had some MAJOR interviews this year. I stopped TIVOing her last year. Or maybe before that. With all her New Age Preaching and holding classes online for the masses!!! I believe in Jesus thank you very much.

So are you watching for McKenzie Phillips? I heard a snippet from the Today show and her dad raped her the day before her wedding and then they had concensioual sex after that for a good bit. OMG!!!! I am horrified. I won't watch. I CAN'T watch. Did you know I HATE MEN!!??!!??!!??

Ok, must smell a lilac or something, clean my head.

Big shake-ups at Dan's employer. Asking all Mgrs to decide if they want to volunteer for a severence pkg. We are not sure what to he should do. He needs to give them a decession by 3 p.m.

I know... so sad to think that Nancy is missing out on this...

Can't even comprehend the whole McKensie Phillips thing. Too strange for this mind to process.

Dawn - good luck with that decision, but either way, the future does not look good job wise.

Is the severance pkg better than 6mths - 1 year of unemployment benefits? Insurance being a big factor. (not sure how long unemployment is paying these days)

Yes, Jeff and I want to hear the McKenzie Phillips sex scandal. So I will be TiVo'ing it.

So, *sigh* just back from the doc with Cammie. At age 4 she couldn't hear properly because of fluid in her ears. So she had the little operation where the put tubes in her ears. Worked, no problem. All was good. Then she had to have it repeated it age 6. Worked again, no problem. A few weeks ago she was complaining that she wasn't hearing properly again. Just got back from that appointment...yup, failed her hearing test. Clinically deaf in her left ear at the moment! Poor kid. Looks like round 3 of ear tubes. Why can't I keep my kids out of the OR? Why?

Dawn--I can't believe they want a decision by 3pm. I didn't even think that was allowable? Like, he hadn't heard anything before this morning and now he has to decide by 3? Or has he known for a while and today is the deadline?

Tonight--soccer game (adult). I have to play one half in the goal and one half as center forward. Nothing like having to switch my mind-set from blocking shots to taking shots! :rotfl2: And I have no idea how my shins are going to handle it.

#1 - Paula - can you look at this page please? It is from Anderson University and their Interior Design undergrad program. What is your opinion on coursework if Treyner would want to pursue architecture someday or even just as a design element. Compared to most of the schools - they have much more classes it seem swith substance vs floral design if ya know what I mean.

http://www.andersonuniversity.edu/soid.aspx?id=2119

#2 Dan has awesome severance pkg. 1 month for every year of employment (8 for him) plus 6 months medical fully paid and they would pay out till the end of the year his normal salary. So that would mean his daily income would not be really affected until next September. We would have to figure medical out.

E - not sure about the legalities - but he just found out. His boss whom we had dinner with last night had no clue either and he is a manager as well.

Side note - Dan had applied for a part time position at the Disney Store here. Extra money to save for the wedding and since his job had little traveling lately - he had lost a big chunk of his income.

Just found out he got hired! :cool1: Big discounts at the store, the parks, hotels, restarants and 2 free tickets per family member per year. (If he stayed - all the kids get those tickets until they are 23 as long as they are proven full time students.) I will be working nights and weekends as well so we will try and coordinate being gone the same time.

oh yeah - if Dan asks for the severance pkg - there isno guarantee it would be accepted by the company.

After the offers - people will be divided into 2 camps - crucial and non crucial to the company.

Then they will let go by seniority. In his Alternative Markets training divison - there are 2 people with 30 years who have already said heck yeah! So he at 8 - may not get it anyway.

Plus his boss said he would not reccomend Dan.

Background: They brought Dan in because he is good at what he does and the center he trains at was going to have a huge increse in expectations of sales. Company said that they could do it with Dan training them. When I say big - I mean huge.

In 2008 reps were expected to have $7,500 in sales per month. 2009 was now $30,000. That is a 400% increase.

With Dan's training they are not only meeting that goal but exceeding it - sales are at 138% of goal.

They do not want to loose Dan.

So he may be turned down - because he is good at what he does - then let go later and without the volunteered severence - most of the pkg would stay the same but the extra pay till the end of the year - would not be there.

So like Dan is saying - "I may ask to be let go while the getting is good, be told no go we can't afford to loose you and then be canned and have less of a severance pkg than the people who do a worse job than me. Great. Sounds like an awesome plan."

So much for doing good work and being rewarded for it! I mean you almost have to laugh.

I told him Silpada was hiring! :lmao:

Dawn - Some quick questions for Treynor on his future.

- Does he ultimately want to become an architect?
- Does he know the difference between interior design and architecture (they are very different things)?
- Is he aware of the licensing requirements to become an architect or an interior design?

I ask these questions because the answers will lead him to the path that he should be on.

If he wants to be an architect, I wouldn’t waste your time on any educational program other than a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in architecture that is accredited by NAAB. Without that, he will have a difficult time getting his license in most states. Credits are difficult to transfer into these programs if not outright impossible (which is why I didn’t do the community college for two years and transfer in). He should look at the NCARB website for info on how to become a licensed architect. They are the board who governs the state registration boards. If it helps, I had a few friends who transferred into the program that I was in and after putting in two years at a community college still had to put in four years to get their Bachelor degree. Now, there are Master’s programs out there where he can get a Masters in Architecture after two years, but you still need a four year degree to apply. So does he really want to be in school for six or more years? Aside from the time requirements, that can get expensive quick.

If he wants to be an interior designer, he needs to research what is required for that. I am not familiar with the current standards, but a check of the AISD site will help with this.

In all states, architecture is a licensed profession with the individual states dictating what education and experience is required prior to taking the registration exams. I stopped tracking the politics of the interior designers, but I know it is a licensed profession in NY now and will likely (if not already) be a requirement across the country soon.

The difference between the two is that the architect needs to know about everything where the interior designer focuses on space planning, lighting, finishes, etc. They don’t know anything about structure, HVAC, etc. It is not my cup of tea, but some really like it.

On a funny note, the list of material supplies needed brought back some memories. The twitching has finally stopped thank you. I especially laughed at the quantities of foam board required. That would have lasted me one week in my program. I chew through that stuff like it was water. We used old pizza boxes for our study models as a way to save money.

Hope this helps

Word to Paula.

And Architectural Drawing (which is required for a degree in Interior Design) really has almost nothing to do with Architecture, so maybe that is why Treyner thinks there is a similarity there?

As Paula said, these are two completely different fields.

Excellent point Erika! Architectural drawing / CAD technicians are what we refer to in the business as CAD monkeys. They usually have a two year degree or a technical certificate and just draft what others tell them to draft.

My own humble opinion here, but an architectural education is intense and not something that you just jump into down the line. Trust me, I am still a little scarred from my overall experience. Granted, I loved my college experience wouldn't change what I did at all, but an architectural education can be brutal at times. Project Runway comes the closest to what the design school experience is like. Not entirely like that, but the reviews by Tim Gunn especially the cutting remarks when he doesn't like something is spot on. It was definitely a love / hate type relationship for me with loving it being the majority.

E and Paula - Treyner has said graphic art/design on some level is his goal. I think he is just learning (like me through you all) that if he is even waying architecture as his focus - that needs to be decided now and truthfully - Paula you have explained the level of commitment he would need to get that - I don't know how easy with collegiate soccer also - it would be plausible.

Thank you for the advice on where to look for info. It seems some colleges just want you to get in the door and then 2 years into schooling you will find out that your chosen field is great "but not here."

Treyner is not asking me to do much but I know how full his plate is with soccer and school so if I can help I will. He needs a release from Fort Lewis to talk to other colleges. He has several schools that have given the intent to look into him when they can so that is good if Ft. Lewis is not the place for him.

Dan said no to the volnteered severence pkg. We shall see what happens.

So I totally dominated in the soccer game tonight! Scored two goals in the first half, and then as goalie held them to only one goal for the half. It felt AWESOME to play. And OMG, it was SO fun to trash talk the whole night! Loved it!

My shins are screaming at me, though. Just screaming.

Oh, and I saw my summer husband tonight (which is unusual, we really don't see each other much except in the summer, and then we are inseparable) and I remember why I adore him. Just when my self-confidence about my appearance is faltering, he totally boosts me right up and through the roof. So I ran in to him tonight before the soccer game. And I was "in uniform", meaning I was wearing my Michigan jersey, black soccer shorts, black soccer socks (you know, sport socks up to the knee) and cleats. He is a HUGE Michigan fan. And he loves women athletes. So when he saw me he came over and gave me a hug and as we were chatting he leaned over and whispered, "Love the outfit. You have totally given me something to dream about tonight...." (This is normal banter for us, by the way.) Always nice to hear, eh? :lmao::rotfl2:

:thumbsup2  My goodness did that make me smile Erika. For so many reasons.

So many.

You have no idea. The sycronicity. There are some things in life that I just didn't know.

Okay, shutting up now. :rolleyes1

And :dance3: on your game tonight meaning YOUR game.
