In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Get ready for tomorrow, team! I plan on kicking a$$ and taking names. Word.

Hi! Happy New Year!

Just so you girls know, I'm not lurking. I'm just off the grid. Love you all though! And if you are going to the Half, I"m doing your tshirt this week.

Maybe I'll be able to be on this week, I hope so!

xoxo

did you go today?

I did not...

However, I cleaned out the fridge and pantry, took everything out of all 5 under cabinets and reorganized, cleaned up the clutter (cat litter, etc), went to Sam's and the, um, other store and returned some unwanted gifts, and completely restocked the larder.

Then, came home and put a chicken in the oven, and D (who was home from work by now) and I went to Target to return the rest of the unwanted gifts, and then came home and ate, then did the laundry, then played with the Wii until 11 or so.

I tried the Wii Fit and did a few things with it (after it soundly insulted me), and then we played a few rounds of bowling.

First day "on", stayed within calories, and probably burned a least a bit since I didn't sit down from 3PM until 11.

I am likely to go to the gym tomorrow night as D has band practice. Tuesday is an official day to have our training session, get membership cards, orientation, etc.

Now, off to bed! E, so ready for the a$$-kicking!

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, im 6 hours into the New Year New Me and so far so good! :rotfl:

We went shopping yesterday and bought all healthy foods, tons of fruit and veg and I got rid of all the chocolates and biscuits that we had in the house, I donated them!

My Pilates for Dummies DVD came the other day, Im still waiting for the Pilates for Lower Back Pain one, but Im starting the dummies one tonight!

So - goals:

1) Eat Healthy. There is no need for me to be eating 50 biscuits and 10 bars of chocolate a day. Thats just ridiculous. I will treat myself now and again because no good ever came of completely depriving myself of treats! I just wont go overboard.

2) Get Healthy. This is my MAIN goal. I can totally tell that I stopped exercising and not just from the weight gain. Im lethargic, can't be bothered to do anything - basically, ive gotten lazy. Plus, my sciatica and back pain is not getting any better and I have no one to blame but myself. The doctor told me I needed to exercise, I started, then I stopped. So Im starting again!

3) Drink Water. I need to get off the pop and back onto the water. My skin isn't as good and Im constantly bloated.

4) Eventually lose the weight. If I stick to the above three goals then this will follow...right!?

Today ive been good with my food and water. I didn't realise until I started my bottle of water today just how thirsty I actually was! Tea and pop just don't quench thirst as well!

My plans for exercise are:

Pilates
Walking
Dancing
Aqua Aerobics
Cross Trainer

The Gym isn't on there at the minute, as our gym is being refurbished, so I have put the cross trainer on there as well!
I think I will also count house cleaning as exercise - lugging the hoover up and downstairs has got to be doing something for you! Plus, I like to have a boogie when im cleaning the house! :rotfl2:

Liz - Nice to see you

Hope everyone has a great day! :upsidedow

Miss you Liz! How's the job? Still lovin' it?

umm..and shouldn't that read "I'm doing OUR tshirts this week?" :confused3 You *are* doing the 1/2 aren't you?

Can't believe I am saying this, but BRING IT!!!!! I so need good kick in the bummocks right now.

Good Lord, what have we done. She used to be so sweet :rotfl2:

I tried the Wii Fit and did a few things with it (after it soundly insulted me), and then we played a few rounds of bowling.

The Wii insulted you? Great. Sounds like *loads* of fun.

Nice on the cleanse/restock. I did a bit of that myself. Feels good to pitch the crap doesn't it?

4) Eventually lose the weight. If I stick to the above three goals then this will follow...right!?

Sounds like a solid plan to me Kelly. That's about where I'm at as well. Eat healthier, train for the 1/2 marathon, drink water not wine, and track in my journal - really, that's the only way I'm able to keep myself totally honest.

Off for my long run. I think it's supposed to be 7 miles today for me. Somehow I think I got a week off on my training schedule so I'm just sorta going to wing it this week and next to get myself caught back up again :confused3

Holy cripes Batman! It's supposed to be 28* and windy (wind chill 15) for the start of the half. In FLORIDA!@^#%%$

Here's my current strategy. Drive the rental car to Epcot. Get there early and stay in the car. Don't check a bag (have to do that by 4:30). Stay in the car until 4:45 or so. Leave the warm cocoon of the car and start walking for the start gathering area, pee, then on to the corrals. That should be a good 30 minute walk. Now it should be around 5:15. The chairs go off at 5:35. Wave 4, where I'm likely to be, starts at 6:10. I expect lots of people will try this strategy. I would not be surprised if the race start is really fouled from bad traffic patterns. Despite my strategy I could end up standing around for a long, long time.

Never one for fashion, I'll be wearing tights, a long sleeve technical tee, running gloves, an earband. Over that and subject to discard are sweatpants, maybe two pair. On top I'll wear a vest, sweatshirt and a wind barrier layer. When they were calling for rain I got a poncho. I might swap it out for a closer fitting trash bag. I'll wear an extra pair of gloves... brown cottony work gloves. I'm headed for JoAnn's Fabric tonight to get a bunch of lime green fleece. I plan to make a hooded scarf and gaiter. I'm also on the hunt for some of the chemical hand warmers. I might have some in the truck already.

All the great WiSH gear will be covered up this weekend!

Kelly - I burned a copy of Pilates for Dummies this weekend. I'll start it with you in a couple of weeks.

Liz - I feel closer to my shirt already! We fly down Friday and should get to the expo by 1:00. We plan to hit the WISH meet at Pop and do a dry run so DGF can get to Main Street Saturday morning. There may be someone she can share a cab with from POR to TTC. We'll see. I plan to drink a lot and eat bland foods!

Ronda! I am freaking out for you!

OMG, I want every detail of all of it. I wish I could comment on strategy and what to wear, but I am useless. I know nothing. Now, if you want to talk which Vera to buy to celebrate, I'm your girl.

How exciting!!!!

Ronda, good luck!! :goodvibes

28!! Yikes! I am with Liz, no sound advice, other than to listen to E and Nancy on this one.

7 miles done. :yay:

Shower done :yay::yay:

now for my next trick, I'll stick with my food plan for the day :rolleyes1

OMG Ronda. I'm sweating just reading all of that :rotfl: That's way too much clothing for me. Worse than being cold, I hate being HOT. Seriously - you are planning on a lot of layers. That's good. You can toss as necessary.

That would be a great reward for after the 1/2 marathon is over Liz!

Hey everyone.

Checking in. Not much energy. Was super sick yesterday and still reeling from it today.

Hope everyone had a great new years.

No giant news to report here....except....this morning I found my first gray hair! :scared1: HOnestly, who starts to go gray at 24?!?!?!?!?!?!

I started going gray at 17. At 34, I am probably at least 60%. And yes, it sucks.

Ronda - I hate that the weather wont be the greatest. :( We will need the details after. Good luck!

Wow Kat that does suck :( Did you just let it go gray or start dying it?

I guess it just shocked me....hard to believe that I actually had one haha.

I have been dying it since. All sorts of auburn, usually... tried jet black last year and that was rather a failed experiment, so went back to a medium dark brown in Sept or so.

I have to touch it up about every 4-5 weeks.

Okay, back to diet thread... I am ready to eat my desk now.

WORD on the green tea. Use it to fill up all the time when I am feeling hungry.

Wow, I haven't been able to get on the DIS all day. Apparently it was just me. Now I have all sorts of catching up to do, but can't since I have to get dinner on the table.

But a few quick items--

Ronda--YIKES! That is way too much clothing.

--Running tights is ALL you will need on your lower half during the race. Yes, really. If you want to wear a pair of throw-away sweats until race time, that might work out.

--Gloves. But just thin ones.

--Running hat or just an ear band. I love the ear band as a compromise.

--Long sleeve tech shirt with zippered hi-neck.
--On top of that, fitness fleece (from LL Bean) or UnderArmour cold weather overshirt. Pricey, but wonderful.
--On top of that tech-style running jacket. That's it. And don't be surprised if you end up with that jacket around your waist. And if you go with the UA overshirt, you won't want the jacket at all. Again, you might want a throw-away sweatshirt until the gun goes off.

It was 25* here today during my run. And I wore tights, long sleeve top with neck zippered up, fitness fleece with neck zippered up--and unzipped it half way (no jacket on top), ear band (which I pulled down about half way through), and gloves (which I pulled off about half way through). I was plenty sweaty.

The GOOD thing about a cool run is that you will need far less water on the course. Don't OVER-hydrate in the days leading up to the race. You will not sweat it out.

making green tea right now. For that very reason.

I am strange... can't *stand* tea, in any form. The smell alone makes me gag.

I had 1/2 cup of trader joe's fiber cereal with a sprinkle of diet cocoa and some water. It worked for a while, but this is one of the first couple of days so the only real thing to do is just work through the hunger. It'll pass by the end of the week.

I don't think that's strange. The only tea I can drink is hot green tea. None of the herbal, regular, iced, bleh. Can't do it.

trying to decide what to make for dinner. I think shrimp scampi will be getting the nod tonight.

And it's Monday. (in case ya'll hadn't noticed)
