In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Good Morning!

I really need to get on the other computer and find the picture of me at the reception doing kamikaze shots with one of my bridesmaids and my other good friend. Klassy.

Lyz--Yes, I agree that you need to post a pic.

Paula, I have seen "Say yes to the dress". I can't believe how much they spend, either!! I think my dress was under $600, although I bought it in 2002 (for a different wedding, but that is another story). The best thing about it was the detachable train... NO bustle!

E, I wanted what you described, a simple beach wedding with bare feet and nothing frilly, and then maybe a party back home. My mom/parents pitched a fit and wanted a "real" wedding, and offered to pay for it. Still, it was fairly small , ~80 people or so, and probably cost less than some of those dresses on that show!

Lyz all seem to be in favor of you posting - If I knew how to scan I could post some 7 month preggo marriage pics as well. That and the fact I had chopped off all my hair that summer - very short - Dorthy Hammil short plus a bit - not knowing I was pregnant - makes me look like a man-bride. Not glamorous. :scared1: I wore a cream maternity dress I found at a consignment store that had shoulder pads. Think 1990 - I was still only about 135 - so from behind you could not tell - side pics and front on - hello belly!

I had tossed around the ideas of having just white dress shirts and tan dress pants on the guys - but both of my boys want tuxes - and Baylor would not be done growing so spending money on a shirt and pants he will not wear again by the time he grows another inch - for the same price as a tux seemed like a toss up.

Maybe that will change.

I would like to re-join WW again. I like the accountability. I would have to do so in August once I am back from Colorado.

Dan has lost and kept off 21 pounds since we had joined last summer.

We leave Sunday for family burn camp and I will have no internet access.

Vent ahead -
Hopefully next year Chad can get his things organized enough to go. I had wanted him to take the kids since he has not taken much advantage of his custodial time. But as usual Chad is his own best priority.

I am ready to kill him over Treyner's financial aid loans - he got approved and hasn't bothered getting the stuff back to the school. The one and only thing he has to do on his own for all this college stuff and I can't do it for him since they are legal/financial docs. Treyner is ready to throttle him as well over it.

Anyway - it will be a great time and I know I will learn a lot and appreciate how lucky Baylor was even more than I do now. It just stinks being gone all summer - I need to be here getting caught up with work hard core in August.:3dglasses

Have a great day everyone - will check in before we leave Sunday morning.

What exactly is family burn camp? When you mentioned it a month or so ago, I my mind naturally went to some kind of fitness camp (you know...feel the burn! :rotfl2: OF COURSE my head would go there!). But since you mentioned Baylor, I guess now it has something to do with his injuries?

FYI--I am only typing and online right now so that I won't eat. BRUTAL, this hunger thing is.

Hello E - my name is Dawn. I have lost the least weight of everyone who is among the originals I believe - and that is because I suck at commitment to myself and excersize as well as food choices. You and your skinny little tukkus would associate the word burn with your excersize crazed mind :worship:- I would link the word burn to a pizza not taken out of the oven on time!:lmao:

But all kidding asside - yes the Family Brn Camp is put on here in the state by the burn unit so kids and families can get some counseling, word choices and the most important part is for kids/adults to have a place to go without being stared at. Not to be different. It is something that they had talked to us about last fall when he was hurt and really emphasized the healing impact that it has for everyone involved.
The rehab people, docs and social workers put it together - it is held at a YMCA family camp in Northern MN. I am hoping it helps all of us.

For example last week at BB - a couple of kids stared at Baylor's leg when he was putting sun screen on it - (Baylor tries to cover it with a towel when exposed and do things hidden if at all possible but to put the compression stocking back on it needs to be out in the open. The boys said - "gross - what happened to his leg? It looks like rubber" to each other - they were right behind us - about 16-17 yrs old. Just a dumb thing to say and loud enough for everyone in our group to hear.

Baylor has tears welling. face beet red and he is hurt, embarrassed etc.

Treyner - was ready to throttle them.

He gets stares all the time because he is in a swim suit with a long sock on -(he has to wear it over the compression sock to prevent sunburn damage to the new skin) People pointed and smirked all day in lines saying - looks like you forgot to take a sock off.

I think because he does not have burns elsewhere that they see - it is thought of as no big deal by many people to point out his sock.

I truthfully worry how bad it will be next year once the sock comes off and his scars are not protected from sight. The good news is here - we are in jeans weather most of the year.

So I hope this camp helps some anger I carry and I know the kids do over Baylor and peoples reaction - I need to learn how to let it slide easier because after the 25th time in 6 hours that someone points out your kid does not match everyone else - I want to start swinging.

I know that people with kids who have mental or physical dissabilities have always gone through this - it is not a new issue in the world - it is just a new learning process for me and the kids and for Baylor. At 13 years old, you just want to be the same as everyone and boys start clamming up and not talking at that age to begin with - so it will be good to have him around a safe place and people to talk with.

He then is going to a burn camp just for kids in August. It has kids from all over the US, Canada and England. It will be in Estes Park,Colorado and is put on by all the burn centers in the US and teh Colroado fire fighters. Kids with easier issues like Baylor help kids who have lost limbs etc., climb, horseback ride and just hang out. He is really excited about that.

K- I am really gone for the rest of the day - did not mean to write that much but it is a raw subject right now and more emotional than I sometimes want to admit.

Good morning everyone!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and see how everyone's weeks are going!

Mine-well. Hrm. Kinda meh?

They postponed our weight watchers session until next week, and so I have been a little lax on keeping track of everything :( I guess the group accountability thing really does keep you going....I have also been eating some not so good stuff so I dunno if next week's weight loss is going to be as good as this week's....but I did force myself to go for a walk today on my lunch break as it is beautiful out and finally not scorching hot or raining! It has been either a monsoon or awful heat here lately...

Ah they bring back such happy memories.....of being at my target weight :rotfl:

GORGEOUS KAT!

I so totally want a do-over :rotfl2:

Listen Chickie. You can't get a do-over when some of us haven't even had a "do". :lmao:

Amd let be known here that IF I ever get married - you can all pick the friggin' dress. Research it - have a poll on it - fight about it - the whole enchilada. I have zero interest. As long as you let Liz take control.

I don't how the he!! I would ever get married - the thought of people all staring at ME. Lord - you'd have to push me down that aisle. Or blindfold me - wouldn't that be attractive? :rotfl:

Kat, my dearest Kat - you look beautiful. And so lovely in white. Do you wear a lot of white? You look so beautiful.

Lyz - Dawn: Smiling while you two were talking. After my niece's wedding - Father's Day - we're sitting around - the rest of our family and some conversation gets interesting between all of us - probably from the sermon remember sin, divorce and such:laughing: at the wedding- and one of my other nieces says, "Was she pregnant -said with emphasis - with me when she married my father?" and looks right at me. Me. Not at the mother who is sitting right there and doing the talking. You all know why she looked at me. :sad2: Because she knows I will not lie to a direct question. So I have my sister on one side and her on the other and Betty Crocker (my mom) across from me and I say "yes - but we were SO excited !!!!!"

- speaking about me of course - I was 14/15 and THRILLED!!!:lmao: THRILLED. I took her everywhere. Even WDW alone at 19 or so. I remember going back to the airport and the driver says, "And your daugher..." And I say, "no she's not mine - she's my niece". He exhales and says, "Oh thank God - I thought you were TOO young.

Yes, everyone else I would love to see wedding pics. And Kelly - if your husband just happens to be in yours - oh well. Such tough luck for us all. :lmao::rotfl::lmao:;):lovestruc

I'm off rambling and you're beating me to the punch. Loved the pics. You know I must get my glasses on to see the beautiful bride AND her beautiful husband. Just jiving there skinny minny. I won't stalk the boy. :lmao:

I love the drinking picture. I nominate Erika in charge of the drinks at my wedding - before, during and after the ceremony. ;)

Hey wait - that's not fair to Ms. Amy. She even gives us recipes.

We ALL want do-overs. Come on! Who doesn't love a good party?

1. Yes, Lyz must post her pictures.

2. I will post mine, in August. Or maybe when I come home. Kat's seen them. Just ask her! :lmao:

3. OME, I really AM Alice, aren't I? I LOVE that you said this, Lisa. you know wedding dress shopping is one of my favorite things to do. Seriously. I'm nuts, I know. Jodi and I beg brides to take us along. We even make all the appts for them!

4. Lisa, you are SO Bella here. (No offense, my lovely Kelly/Bella!)

Kat, my dearest Kat - you look beautiful. And so lovely in white. Do you wear a lot of white? You look so beautiful.

5. I felt the same way about my godson. I was 19 when he was born, and for years I toted him around like a little puppy. He was my accessory! Now he's 16. Sob.

6. Very pretty bride pics. Now let's see the pre-digital weddings.

7. Stressed. About leaving tomorrow. UGH!!!!

Hi Cathie. Good to hear from you. My week is interesting. Whoops did you mean weight wise? :lmao: Well then - interesting will do there too.

Well my week weight-wise has definitely been interesting also lol...but I did mean in general as well.

In general, my week has been going AWFUL! Just CRAPtacular. Can't wait until it's over and this weekend comes around so I can grab my camera and carry myself away to a full day of wonderous picture taking at the local renaissance festival.:cloud9:

GOOD then you can do the shopping for me haha! :lmao::rotfl:

What exactly is family burn camp?

 I hear "burn camp" and do NOT think of exercise. However, the movie "Mean Girls" immediately popped into my head, and I envisioned a dozen girls huddled on a cot in a cabin writing mean things in a notebook about someone else.

hmmm...wonder what Becca is up to at camp today :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao:

Sounds like this camp is going to be an awesome experience Dawn. It's ignorance really - most people don't intend to be rude/mean/obnoxious - they just don't know any better sometimes. And it never even occurs to them that this couldn't possibly be the thousandth time Baylors had to answer the same dang question this week.

As for wanting to be the same as everyone else - I get that. Just want to fit in at that age. Trying to find a way to embrace the uniqueness that is him is so hard at 13. :flower3:

They postponed our weight watchers session until next week, and so I have been a little lax on keeping track of everything

Yikes! Post-poned the meeting? That' not good! No more of this "lax" business young lady. Get trackin' :mic:

(did anyone warn Cathie about my desire for a whistle? :rotfl2:)

Ordering Chinese for dinner :woohoo:

Hoping to get some "scanning lessons" tonight. :scared: Be scared people. Be very, very scared.:lmao:
