In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

I don't know what the<bleep> is going on here....but both yesterday AND this morning I posted and it didn't *go thru*.

tickin' me off I tell ya.

Pouring rain here. I am going to lose it, I swear. Yesterday's high = 57*. Today, it will warm up to 60. In the middle of freaking July.

I keep thinking about all the people who are on vacation on the shores of Ct, RI, the Cape, Maine. That would really suck.

Sorry to hear about all the rain up north. Yuck. I know my mom is going nuts in the house with my brothers 3 little kids all day. That is a little bit of crazy.

I did do a C25K run yesterday on the TM and it went all right. A couple twinges of the IT pain, but not like it was. And I did a bunch of IT specific stretches after. I also started the 100 push up and 200 squat challenge. I hope to keep all of this up on vacation. It should be pretty easy to do so. Core stuff today and then maybe jillian or wii fit.

Delena was supposed to have her 2 year check up this morning, but it was canceled since 2 of the 4 doctors were sick!

No, it's cold. Not warm/humid/summer rain. Yesterday, my kids started calling this "Fall Vacation" instead of summer vacation. Out of the mouths of babes, eh?

I am just so sluggish.

Amy--glad the IT band is healing. Yes, stretch!

We are a little cooler than normal here... upper 80s instead of mid-90s. And they are starting to b&*ch about drought. Sigh. They do this every summer, like it is some sort of anomaly. Sept-Dec almost always bring enough rain (esp if there is a hurricane) to cover it.

So I am irritated about something totally random and you are free to skip this.

Since we have moved into this house 4 years ago, we have had a large green plastic garbage can, and a blue plastic tub for recycling. This spring, my dad and I built a small pad out of 4 paving stones at the back of the house, next to the air conditioner, for the garbage can. The recycling tub has lived in the garage, which many of you have seen pictures is NOT big enough for much else besides 2 cars and some other random small items.

It is not possible considering the avg temps here to keep a garbage can within 15 feet of an entrance or exit, including the garage, unless you feel like gagging every time you leave, and we aren't allowed to have any receptacle in line of sight from the street (HOA rules).

So, last Monday they take away my recycling, and leave me with a HUGE electric blue (think ride cars on Spaceship Earth blue) plastic garbage can, equal in size to the big green garbage can, and new instructions to recycle everything under the sun, and oh btw we are only picking it up every other week now.

This irritates me on three levels... one, WTH am I supposed to do with this eyesore? Pad in back only fits the garbage can, which although it's huge and green it at least blends well. Two, we go through a LOT of cans and bottles, and now plastics, cardboards, paper, etc... every two weeks is a long time. Three, why did they have to wait until I built a place for the garbage can to do this? Notice, people???

Okay, I feel better now.

Kat - how frustrating... I'm sure you will come up with a home for this.

More rain on the way this afternoon and now it is looking like it may rain on Saturday. Riding this race in the rain would totally suck! Keep your fingers crossed that it stays dry until after I cross the finish line.

OK - for all you looking for a new and different type of workout, try the endurance one I did last night.

- 1 minute of continuous body squats / 3 sets with one minute break between
- 1 minute of continous lunges / 3 sets w/ 1 minute breaks between
- 1 minute of continus push ups (killer) / 3 sets w/ 1 minute breaks between
- 1 minute of bent over rows (are you tired yet, because I was) / 3 sets w/ 1 minute breaks between

of course you need to do your warm up (five minutes on the bike and 3 sets of squats, lunges and pushups with a medicine ball) and your stretching afterwards.

Oh yeah - I was tired when I got home. But, if I can make it through that, what is a short bike ride? Tonight is a quick five mile easy spin at the gym and tomorrow and Friday are rest days in prep for Saturday. After that, it is time to start the walking / wogging work to get ready for March. I am thinking that I may need to find a road race of some sort in October or November to keep me focused. Maybe a turkey trot or something. I'll have to do some research on that one.

Hope everyone is having a good day (despite the rain).

Our stuff just got switched up last week. What was formerly our 95 gallon (so they tell me ) green garbage can, now has a HUGE orange sticker on it that says "recycling only". That will be picked up every other week. (family of 5 here. Vigilant recyclers.)

Left off a *lovely* blue barrel for trash - 65 gallon. Significantly smaller. Not typically an issue for us, but we had a very big party here on the 4th and generated more trash than usual. :headache:

So now we too have 2 barrels. And while we don't typically have much in the way of odor problems, we do have plenty of dumpster-diving wildlife around here. Have to keep the barrels in the garage or risk having them ravaged by some hungry animal looking for a feast. :sad2:

Today was garbage day. First week of non-recycling day. I'll know better how I feel about it when they finally take recycling next week....

OH NO! Riding in the rain is not all that much fun. I so hope it doesn't rain on your race

Sounds awesome. Consider it *stolen* :thumbsup2

Out to do some more stuff in the yard before the afternoon storms roll thru. again.

Paula--Thanks for posting that work out! I can definitely use that for a vacation work out!

Awesome workout, Paula! I will give it a try. I am in a rut.

On the recycling issue--yup, that is how ours works as well, every-other week but we can recycle just about everything. Our recycle buckets are green though, and yes, I would be annoyed by it being bright blue. Like Nancy, we keep it all in the garage as heat isn't the problem here, critters are. I guess you add on to the pad that you did for the garbage can??

I don't have any problem with the recycling... but geebus people, electric blue?? Why not just paint the d*m thing orange and be done with it? I swear you could see this thing from space, and it is a 95 gallon behemoth.

Plus, I have to place it at the curb three feet from my garbage can. Hello, people? I live in a cul-de-sac in a subdivision... I don't HAVE three feet apart and the continued ability to back out of my driveway.

I think we are going to have to build a garbage can house at the side of the house... something L-shaped with lattice. Sigh.

Oh, here is a nice link to a Disneyland marriage proposal, if you haven't seen it already. You know you are a professed Disney addict when your *boss* sends you this stuff.

Somehow my brain morphed that into "Beyonce". :lmao: wowza. Have to admit, I like that you are holding out for the commitment before you move in. :thumbsup2

Love that! I think it should be in the dictionary!
Dawn - loving the TR. Mel's Diner. OMG. That musta been a hoot.
If you have all of your own teeth (or at least one good one centered properly and not snaggled and only half brown) and that alone makes you a hottie...ya might be in Mels Diner! Not that I am complaining cause I will take being a hottie whenever I can get it!:rotfl2:
Lovin the TR!!!

And, you must be training that girl well!!!!:thumbsup2:lmao:
I liked manly guys as well but she is much stronger than I could ever be at that age and I love her foccus on what matters!!
Dawn - welcome back. Enjoying your TR. I can't believe you drove straight thru. I must be some kinda witch, but I absolutely cannot go more than 17 hours without laying flat on my back. (guess that might make me a ;))Glad you had a good trip. Can't wait to hear more.
I found that driving straight through was actually easier because breaking it up on the way back made the trip seem to last forever - If we broke it up and spent a few days in each location instead of just overnight - maybe it would be better!

Had to respond to this - we have had a green recycling bin the size of our garbage cans for about 4 years now - before we had the small bucket like you did. Here also is a every other week pick up and like Nancy - we recycle everything and it is a joke if they want people to recycle to expect them to only have one can filled for every two weeks.

For Treyner's graduation - I had to get the garbage people to come out on a off day becase they had a new policy that I missed. It used to be that if you put out extra garbage not in the can - they would pick it up and bill you for it. Now you need to agree ahead to the charge and call ahead to approve it. Our garbage day was Thursday, party on Sunday so you can imagine how not happy I was when I came home and had 2 boxes of crud and the old countertop sitting in my lawn.

I called - they explained and even though the garbage guy was 2 blocks away - I had to pay money for them to come the next day. I asked how much would it cost for the recycling to come since that can was also overflowing and it had been or off week. They said it would have been $80 total. $40 per truck - did not matter how much they picked up (plus the cost to move the big countertop)- the lady on the phone suggested I bag the recycling in a black big trash bag and place it next to the garbage so I avoided 2 trucks and 2 charges! WT heck? She said the garbage truck would not pick up anything in a recycling can - it is actually illegal - but me hiding recycling and throwing it in the garbage was okay!

Our garbage cans are brown and green is recycling. We have room on the side of the house on a pad - with our 90 degree summer temps - the garage would smell awful!

Sorry Kat that you have now to figure out something else! The only slight positive is that everyone else has a big blue eyesore to deal with to - maybe they will have some ideas!

So today went and looked at wedding dresses by myself. Talk about a reality weight check! I think I found 2 design styles I like and will go back in December to order/re-evaluate. Decided on colors etc - so most of the hard part is done I think. For those married here - a question...

Did yo know the type of dress you wanted and did you stick with that or once you tried things on did it change?

Hope you all have a great day!

It's fun to watch, but it is a fake. They filmed it for some promotional reason. Oh well, I would still say yes to that! :rotfl2:

I only tried on about 4 wedding dresses and had no trouble deciding on the one I wanted. I chose a classic style that could easily be worn today...or in 20 years if either of the girls wants to wear it.

So, even though this is a second marriage for you both, you are going to do the whole traditional thing? Somehow I thought it was going to be informal? Did I miss a change or is there a new plan?

Do you know for a fact it's fake? Just curious as everyone in my office has been watching and it would be a fun break from work to discuss.

I assumed that everyone involved was a Disneyland employee and that it was staged, but a real proposal...

Oh, this begs for a whole new topic.

EriKa - lets see some wedding pics. Everyone. Wedding pics. And while you're scanning them, lol, lets see some senior pics.

Hmmm ask me about the wedding pictures NEXT year and I'll have something for ya :lmao:

As for senior pictures....oh dear heavens. I don't even know where the things are! lol
