In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Good morning all! So much I want to comment on!

Kat - thanks for the TR. Sounds like you guys had a fabulous weekend. And yes, the return to reality sucks. :headache:

Protein - I asked Erin this morning how much protein she thought I should be eating. Her recommendation is a minimum of 1g for every 10lbs of body weight per meal. In other words, a 150lb person should aim for a minimum of 15g of lean proteins at each "feeding" or roughly 75g per day.

Paula, I do not agree with the protein and fat that Jesse is recommending, nutritionist or not. If you were a body builder you would eat no or very little fat and that is how you encourage your body to eat its own fat. You should be gaining your "energy" from complex carbs which will regulate your blood sugar better and keep you in a more steady state of energized. Fats work similar to sugar as far as energy goes and they stick with you a little harder.

While I don't disagree with the necessisty of fat & complex carbs - protein intake is extremely important when trying to gain & maintain your muscle mass. Your body needs the proteins to rebuild those muscles, and if you don't feed it the protein it needs, it will *find* it by "feeding" on your exisiting muscle, thereby un-doing everything you are working so hard to acheive.

Balance. It's so hard to find. Just the right amount of protein, carbs, fat. OY. Such a juggling act.:upsidedow

I looked in the mirror this morning and part of my part in my hair

Your who of the what? :confused3 I had to read that several times before I got that  Sunburned head is not fun. Hope it's better soon.

Tonight's schedule is a little backwards. I am training at 5:00 then freshening up and meeting the Tuesday Night Dinner crowd at a local restaurant to officially celebrate my mom's birthday. So I have a big, hearty snack to fuel up with before I go to the gym and then will graze at dinner.

Happy Birthday Mom! Have fun tonight, Paula!

I went bathing suit shopping yesterday and didn't die.

:lmao:

It wasn't great, but it wasn't completely awful and hideous either. Got some stuff from Land's End that I can genuinely feel comfortable in.

awesome. I'm in the market for a new suit. I'll have to check them out.

And yes! Nancy and I will have to do a Muddy Buddy at SOME point! :cool1: OMG, I am dying to do the one the day before the cruise. I asked J if he wanted to do it with me. That got a resounding NO from Mr. OCD. :rotfl2:

I would LOVE to do a muddy buddy. Closest one I could find was in Virginia I think. I'll have to look again. Seems to me that there should be something in the NE area.

Hi Gang!

At my mom and dad's! Crashed here after dropping Kat off at the sirport. Good long nap. Now we are going out to a late lunch. I started tracking again yesterday. So far, so good.

More later!

But...Lyz, you are so right. We just naturally do everything together. I love it. :goodvibes

Nancy--I know! Why isn't there one in the NE? It's criminal. :lmao:

Any word from the Army??? I am so sweating this out with you.

Kat--did you make it back safely?

OMG, I had a stonker of a 4-miler today. SO hot. And the warmest temps I have run in so far was about 60*. It is over 80 today. And I haven't ramped up yet to running in the heat. It was hard. I had to take walk breaks. And I all but collapsed afterwards. Not dehydrated, and not even that over-heated. Just not prepared.

Yup, I'm here. Sorry, I texted Liz and updated facebook, so I guess I only covered some, not all of the bases. :)

Flight was completely uneventful. Liz dropped me off at about 7:45 and I was at the gate by 8AM. They had cancelled the flight before me and put everyone on my flight, and we still only had about 60 people I think. I don't think that they even called Bs. We arrived at RDU about 30 min early, and of course my ride was late. Still, it was a beautiful day so standing out in the sun wasn't so bad.

Only 3 more hours or so to go of work. I just got more coffee so am hoping to power through. That nap would be awfully nice right about now...

Btw, remember when Emily used remember when...? They are so training her right.

Nancy--I know! Why isn't there one in the NE? It's criminal. :lmao:

definitely. Where do I file my complaint? ;)

Any word from the Army??? I am so sweating this out with you.

Inconclusive. I had a 7:00 beating w/Erin this a.m. so I was out early. Seth had 1st period study hall so he stayed home & made calls. All Stephen could get out of him was, his contact person said "send in the form". I don't know what is going on yet.

Friggin' hot here again. In the 90*s. The boys have a track meet. It's a home meet, so I'm totally obligated to go. Just hoping Nate doesn't puke after running. :scared:

Flight was completely uneventful.

Gotta love uneventful.

Btw, remember when Emily used remember when...? They are so training her right.

:lmao: So cute! Like a lil' Liz!

oh - and did I mention that it is insanely HOT here? Holy crap. I wish the pool was open....

Wasn't it only a few weeks ago that we were all complaining about the general lack of sunshine and warmth? Just sayin'

Don't get me wrong, I hate the high heat too and it was pushing 90 here today. One of the upsides to not having any exterior work going on right now is that I don't have to go outside if I don't want to...

Getting ready to call it a day here and head for my beating with Jesse. Which reminds me, Nancy - how did you make out this morning. It wasn't too bad I hope.

Kat - glad you made it home all right.

Now where the heck is everyone else? Ronda, Sunny, the three Lisa's, Stacey, etc. Have you all left us and moved on to a cooler group of people (as if such a group could even exist)? We miss you!!!!!

I can't believe how warm it is up North! It is warmer there than here! We're in the lower 80's today!

And I totally relate to running in the heat. Yuck. When I was doing my longer runs for the 15K last year in May, the first few times out I thought I was going to be sick. You do sorta get used to it , but it is not as good as running in cooler weather.

More to say, will be back later..

Me and Sue after the Trolley Run. Seemed like a safe spot to stand still.

This is the playhouse I mentioned a few weeks ago. My benches are in front. We were preparing to take a group pic.

It's cool but sunny here. I am headed out to play golf!

Ronda

Ronda, great pics!! Which one is you?

I think that it is so cool that you are doing this together. I wish I could get mine to get more involved in fitness.

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear in the pics, I am the taller one with black hair and Liz is the redhead.

Ronda -Great pics. The playhouse is very cool. Didn't know you were a golfer. I am so behind in getting my clubs out it is not even funny. So need to do that this week.

Made it through training and mom's birthday dinner (ate way too many carbs). Now I am off to do my chores for the night.

It is quiet around here tonight... just sayin'

Ronda--Love the pics! And it sounds like you had a fantastic race!! :cool1:

Kat/Liz--Loved reading about your weekend and the pics! I really liked your race shirts!

Paula--WTG on the loss!!

Everyone:

D'oh. I'm on the right.

I freed my golf clubs from the attic Monday night. It was a beautiful evening for anything. We were able to get nine in. I measure golf in small ways. It was a good night - I didn't lose a ball!

 you're right. But it went from snow flakes to sunburn a bit too quickly. Tomorrow is supposed to be much more seasonable. 60*s :thumbsup2

Getting ready to call it a day here and head for my beating with Jesse. Which reminds me, Nancy - how did you make out this morning. It wasn't too bad I hope.

Not too bad. I only called her a b*tch once  That first real workout after a restful vacation is just brutal

D'oh. I'm on the right.

Great pictures Ronda! :thumbsup2 Such a cool playhouse!

:rotfl2: That would be a major success for me! Golf and I just don't get along very well :rolleyes1

So - earlier I mentioned that my boys had a track meet. I didn't really want to go, but I did (Becca really laid on the guilt trip. The little creep!) Anyway - I *thought* I had timed it perfectly. Seth was up for field events (shot & discus) and they called for the 1600m (mile) - Nate's race. :yay: I can watch and go home :woohoo:

Think again. For whatever reason the coach had asked Nate to run the 3200m (2 miles) - the SECOND TO LAST EVENT :headache: bah. I find Nate. He asks me for a tissue. He has a bloody nose. 3rd one today :confused3 I have no tissue. I have no purse. I'm only here for a few minutes, remember?

I send him to ask the coach where the trainer is, and I go sit with some friends on the bleachers to watch & chat. A good hour later, Nate's race is starting to line up. But I don't see him anywhere. Ok. W.T.F. I've just sat here for an hour and where is that dang kid? My cell phone rings. It's one of the other mom's who is helping with the meet. She asks me where I am. Bleachers, why? Nate's nose is STILL BLEEDING. not kiddding. He'd been with the trainer for a full HOUR and his nose would not.stop. Stephen and I made our way down there. The poor kid had blood everywhere. On his clothes. on his shoes. On his face, hands, body.

Obviously, he missed his race. It finally stopped, but holy crap it took forever.

Oh - then the mom who called me starts in with "OMG you were in Texas with all those Mexicans. YOU NEED TO BE TESTED FOR SWINE FLU". You're kidding right? Please. Just shoot me now.

<sigh>

Ronda - That is a huge success in my book... Glad you were able to get out.

Nancy - Yikes about Nate. Hope everything is all right there. Gotta love the comments of some people. Swine flu... ha! Glad your workout with Erin wasn't too bad. One curse word is definitely allowed.

I worked out earlier than usual tonight and man the gym was full of muscle heads. I did not feel comfortable there at all. Even Jesse commented that this was not my crowd. I so don't like those guys. I think I'll be sticking to my after 7:00PM sessions for a long time...

Tomorrow is bike shopping day... can't wait!

Wow what a day. My NHL team won their game and the playoff series by scoring 2 goals with less than 2 min left in the game. Lisa, I can't even give you a b-ball equiv... like being down by 10 in the last 2 min maybe?

I am tired but so pumped that I can't sleep. Been up since 5:30 with no rest yet. And still just thrilled and crazy and don't know what to do with it all.

Ronda, thanks for the clarification. That is what I would have guessed but I wanted to be sure. I like putting faces to names! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone :)

So, my name is Kelly and as of today I am ON. Seriously, considering I was only 1lb away from goal the weight gain over the past couple of weeks has been quite frankly embarrassing, and a little ridiculous!

So there it is. I am back on. :cool1:

I haven't been around much the past few days - things came to a head between MIL and DH and its been a little crazy :sad2: But, if anything, its made me realise just how lucky I am to have DH and what a great guy he is :lovestruc

So thats me in a nutshell.

Hope everyone is ok :goodvibes

Kelly - glad your back ON!

I can't believe how warm it is up North! It is warmer there than here! We're in the lower 80's today!

I know! We had spring weather in Ohio yesterday. It was nice.

D'oh. I'm on the right.

Your right or my right? Ha, just kidding. Glad to see a pic. The benches, color me impressed. Loved the RR.

Nate's nose is STILL BLEEDING.

Wow!

Oh - then the mom who called me starts in with "OMG you were in Texas with all those Mexicans. YOU NEED TO BE TESTED FOR SWINE FLU". You're kidding right? Please. Just shoot me now.

<sigh>

:rotfl: Funny.

I am tired but so pumped that I can't sleep. Been up since 5:30 with no rest yet. And still just thrilled and crazy and don't know what to do with it all.

Congrats Kat! What a long day for you. Love the beach pic of you and Em. So cute.

Wow! Look how early Lyz is on!

Erika - how are exams going?

Nancy - Yikes about Nate. Hope everything is all right there. Gotta love the comments of some people. Swine flu... ha!

I know, right? People can be so ridiculous. :sad2: Worst part was, she was SO totally serious. Genuinely panicked look on her face. Get a grip.

Tomorrow is bike shopping day... can't wait!

There are a couple knuckle-head body builder types that work out in the morning - when there are 2 -3 of them, no biggie - but when there's a LOT  I think it's like a pack of dogs. They just get that nasty growl attitude and feed off one anothers testosterone filled energy :rolleyes1

Good luck with the bike today!

I am tired but so pumped that I can't sleep. Been up since 5:30 with no rest yet. And still just thrilled and crazy and don't know what to do with it all.

ah, a true fan. Hope your team goes all the way. They *used* to be OUR team. Folks up here still call them the "whaler-canes"

So, my name is Kelly and as of today I am ON.

Hi Kelly! Welcome to "on"! I think I need to join you.

It's MUCH cooler here today. upper 40*s this morning. Going out for a bike ride in a bit here.

Dawn? What's happened to you? :confused3 You disappeared on us!

Hi to everyone else as well!

Dawn? What's happened to you? :confused3 You disappeared on us!

How bizarre, you read my mind! I was just thinking the same thing - get out of my head! :lmao:

So - Swine Flu. Honestly, some people are so crazy! We've had numerous people calling us over the past few days with questions such as:

"Im flying to Spain at the end of May, will I be ok?"
"Im supposed to be going to Greece in August, will I still be able to go?"
"My husband wants me to cancel our Floriday holiday because its too close to Mexico"

And those were the more sane questions! :rotfl2:
Funnily enough, the people who were supposed to be travelling to Mexico and had their holidays cancelled were so much calmer than the other people! :rotfl:

Got to love people. Otherwise you'd kill them!

Kat - Congrats to the Canes on the win. I am bummed that my Devils are out of it, but will root for the Canes now. Here's hoping that they get to raise Lord Stanley's Cup...

Nancy - Have fun on your bike ride. I'll be checking in later with the results of my shopping excursion.

Kelly - yeah that you are ON!!!! Sorry to hear about the MIL and DH issues. Hopefully, all is well and things calm down quickly.

Not much to report on here. Just my typical Wednesday stuff. The weather is thankfully a little cooler so it should be a beautiful day.

Get out and enjoy it everyone...

Paula
