In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

:crazy2: ONE COOKIE? Oy. Just think - how many people make that a regular snack when they go for their coffee :confused3 Awesome job on the loss, despite that stupid cookie!

LisaV - sending hugs to you my transient friend! And yes, I got my fingers unglued. No thanks to my KIDS I must add

Amiee - day camp? They run those kids ragged. Fun, but exhausting!

Gosh. I had something I really wanted to say. But I've totally forgotten. hmmpf. Well, if I think of it I'll let you know.

This camp isn't as bad as most on running around. They have 2 field trips this week. One to the library and one to the fire station. Ryan went to the YMCA 2 years in a row and was exhausted beyond belief ~ not to mention the bad sunburns. And I didn't like the supervision or the way they treated the kids. This one is the YWCA (only 1 block up and over from my work too). They have several adults working and they don't have them out of the building all day. They teach them so much too! I was amazed at what Ryan learned last year. I wasn't planning on camp this year, but had to when mom decided to return to work.

Even with the great cookie debacle from last night I lost .4 pounds this week. I am taking that and running with it because the weekend was just plain ugly food wise...

oh and Nancy, I looked it up... drumroll please... 480 calories and 20 grams of fat for one freakin cookie... I am never, repeat never going near one of those evil things again. They are so not worth it... :confused3 That is more calories than what I usually eat for my dinner.

So, I came home from Jenny Craig, cooked my sensible dinner (JC Mesquite chicken entree w/ roasted potatoes and broccoli) roasted some fresh asparagus and felt so much better about that dinner than last night's. I got my ten miles in on the spin bike tonight and now I am settling in to just relax for a bit.

Hope everyone is having a good night!

Ouch that cookie! There is an untapped market out and about. If businesses would just see it. They could make a mint! My friend's shop always had good for you treats (she had to close temporarily because of the high rent and is looking for a new location). She would always have at least two no sugar added or low sugar items.

Great job on the bike ride!

So the lurking part of tonight kinda went by the wayside. Got some more packing done, lol.

Jennifer - when I ran last summer, I did do it outside, but only in shaded areas mostly. I went for the county parks, mostly.

Are you interested in maybe meeting up to train for the 1/2 at some point? Let me know. I'd love to have a buddy. Heck, I'm ready to fly Erika down to get my a$$ in shape.

Ronda - how great for you guys! You are 5k masters now!!! And the weight - that's amazing.

Paula - nicely done! A loss is a loss!!!

Amiee - bummer about your friend's shop. It always sounded lovely to me. I hope she finds another space soon.

Lisa V - thinking about you, too. :goodvibes The mom thing is complicated. It's very very emotional for me right now. Oh, good times!

GOOD MORNING!....well, afternoon for me!

Just discovered something.

When the package label reads "Instant Nail Glue" they really mean it.

Just glued my fingers together in an attempt to fix a nasty broken nail.

Kids were crying with laughter. No offer to assist with the "ungluing" of my hand. Just...texts....saying OMG you'll never believe what Mom did...

Been there. I was once using nail glue to fix an ornament and I glued two fingers together - when I tried to use my other hand to get them apart, yep, that one stuck too. DH was laughing so much he couldn't help me so I had to walk to my mums to get her to help me :rotfl2:

Ok, I need something to watch when I get on my elipictal - otherwise I will die!!! So Nurse Jackie is on at 10:30, so it looks like my torture will begin there

I have to watch something on tv when Im on the cross trainer - I find any of the CSI's quite easy to watch whilst im on it!

Have a great day everyone :upsidedow

Hey everybody!

Lurking for a little bit. Taylor's on my lap after her first day at day camp. She is exhausted. Will be back later.

Ah camp. :goodvibes

Its Jennifer ;)

Hi Jennifer!:goodvibes

Sprint is merely figurative, but we did run hard at the end.

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

And fantastic on the weight. That's how I lost mine as well Ronda.

Lisa V - thinking about you, too. :goodvibes The mom thing is complicated. It's very very emotional for me right now. Oh, good times!

 and :lovestruc your way.

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

My stomach almost dropped when I read he took you to mums - then I exhaled when I say MY. :lmao:;)

Dawn - I looked at your pics, when you put them up --- and when I go to this site...........my heart smiles yet there is a realization that one day I will stand there and take pics like you.

Having four children of my own and I can't believe that one day that will be my children. However, I want to keep them small (well, where they are now) --- I never want them to grow up ;)

In the fall, that would be great :goodvibes

However, I am searching for a job in the school system - that would be the only thing that could cause problems meeting up. With massive student loans, I need to work both in the school system and at the college - assuming I have a reg schedule - it sounds like a plan, if nothing else maybe we can do one run a week in the morning?

Hi Jennifer!

I find the treadmill extremely boring. The elliptical, I usually read a book so it isn't so bad.

Here in NC, no way is running outside an option unless you get up at like 5-6AM (which in my life is NOT happening), or you do it well after dark (scary!).

LisaV,

Paula, congrats on the loss!!! EVIL cookie.

Nancy, how is your week going? I know it is super-busy.

I am mostly procrastinating work, at the moment. :surfweb: and waking up some.

OMG, overwhelmed. No crisis or anything, just too much going on. Every single night this week there are at least 2 activities that have to be attended. Tonight is Cammie's class play and Riley has a baseball game. Ugh. All this week and all next week it will be like this. Summer school (for me, the class I am teaching) ends this week, so that will be one thing off my plate at least.

Jennifer--I run outside all summer. Then again, I run outside all winter (and I am in Maine). It usually isn't as hot here as NJ, but we certainly spend time in the 80s and occasionally the 90s. I either find shady running routes or run in the evening after my husband gets home. I will often begin a run at 7:45 (since it is dusk till 8:45) and I can still get in a decent run even starting that late. I also have a reflector vest in case it gets dark a bit early or I start a bit late.

As for the boredom on the elliptical, I have two solutions that might help. I read. Yes, read! :rotfl2: Kat does, too! It forces you not to cheat because you use your hands as well as keeps you occupied. The other thing I do all the time is listen to audio books. I have tons on my iPod. And they are life saving. You really can get absorbed.

Oh and btw, Jennifer, what is your weight loss goal? Are you looking to lose pounds? Or just get ready and complete a Half?

Paula
--down again! You are a rock star! SO impressed with you. And I am glad you looked up the info. on the dreaded cookie. I had to do that with a sandwich I loved to eat at Panera and I am so glad I did. It now NEVER tempts me. So not worth it.

Nancy
--Sorry about the ride, but you are right, something had to give. And I am with you on needing not just one clone, but two. Hang in there. And do I need to send you extra tissues as graduation approaches?

Ronda--Ronda, Ronda, Ronda! You should know that you don't need to stress about LL Bean issues when you have me here! :rotfl2: Here is what you do. Call this number:

1-800-221-4221

Explain to the lovely person who answers the phone that you have a complicated order issue and can you please be put through to a CSR 2.

The regular people who answer the phones only have ability to look for items in the current catalog, whereas a CSR 2 can look for anything that Bean's has ever sold. There are likely some of last year's Bayside Twills in the warehouse ready to go to the wholesale division. Now, I am not promising that they will have any, but I use this technique all the time. (This is the first year that we have not had a family member on one side or the other working for Bean's.)

If that doesn't work, I know first hand that they have Bayside Twills at the Factory Store, which I happen to frequent about once a week. If you want to PM me your size and what you are looking for, I would be happy to check and see if they have your size/color, etc. in the outlet.

Kat
--WOO HOO for the upcoming 5k! Rock star!

Steph--I hear ya on pool issues. They CAN be a lot of work. But usually once you get them set, the maintenance part is much easier. So, what is your food and exercise plan if not WW? Good luck with the job decision.

Liz--YES! Fly me down to train with you! I think about that all the time. Like, "If Liz (or Lyz, or Kat, Nancy, Amy, or any of you) lived here, then we would all be skinny. Because I just know we would get together to go for a walk or run or whatever and we would just talk non-stop and before we knew it, we would have covered 8 miles.

LisaV--still thinking of you.

Lyz--you, too! I miss you. Call when you can.

LisaPR--sorry, I forgot to answer, but no, I am not doing the Sea Dogs 5k. Long story, but my husband got roped into doing something he doesn't want to (on FATHER'S Day....by MIL!) so I have the kids.

Don't even get me started! Yes, he is spending FATHER'S DAY doing bullsh*t stuff for his mother. It is not Mother's Day! Speaking of flying folks around, Kelly, I may have to fly you across the pond to deal with MIL!

Kel--great job getting back on it after the KFC melt down. You will get that 1/2 stone off in no time.

AFM--I am struggling, which it kills me to say. I was SO strong for SO long. But I am getting back there. Slowly.

Hey All,

Busy week here, so I will probably be even more scarce then usual. I am watching BFF's kids through Thursday. Back on track with exercise and water though. My 5k is Friday night. I don't have high hopes for any decent time for this race, with my on again, off again running, but am hoping to use it as motivation to get back on track.

I am stepping away from the scale for a bit. TOM is killing me with bloat this week.

Jennifer: Hi!! I think I missed that we had a new person! Glad to have you here!

Paula Woo-hoo on the loss!

Steph Do I have to come up and help with the pool???

Kat I didn't realize your race was this weekend too! Cool!

Ronda Awesome job on the 5k!

Dawn Nice graduation pics!

Obviously, since I live in FL, I run in some warm temps. This time of year I just head out after 7 pm. And I do get hot, sweaty and gross, but I never feel like I am going to die or anything. I guess I am just used to it. When I first started running in the warmer temps, there were a few times when I almost puked!

And as promised awhile back my mojito recipe again!

8-10 oz of light or white rum. Since I am a lush, I tend towards the 10 oz!

8 oz simple syrup (this is less than what bacardi suggests, I think 12 oz is too sweet, but you can adjust it to what you like)

16 oz of club soda

3-4 limes

some mint leaves

Use a muddler to mash up the limes and mint leaves. (I saw a bottle of rum at the store this weekend that actually came with a muddler!)

Add the other ingredients and mix well!

I always make pitchers. When I make by the single glass they never come out as well.

Amy - thanks for the recipe... can't wait to try it

Jennifer - so nice to have a name to go with the stories. I'm sure you are already aware of this, but I refuse to exercise if I don't have on moisture wicking gear. It really does help me feel a little cooler and a lot less clammy. Target's C9 line is awesome or check out Under Armour if you have an outlet near by.

Erika - Hang in there. The end of the year stuff is almost over. Just think of the camping trips to come. Oh and you are strong!!!! Don't let anyone (especially youself) tell you otherwise. Don't make me get my angry eyes out... m'kay?

Liz - thinking of you a lot lately. Hope you are finding a way to cope with all you have going on.

Kat - yeah on the run... can't wait to hear about all of the details.

Nancy - how are you doing? life still have you going in 1001 directions?

Ronda - awesome news about the race and the weight loss. So proud of you and Sue!!!!

Steph - How is the pool coming?

Amiee - countdown is on right??? you have like three more days and then you will be in Florida and celebrating... whoo hoo!!!!

Dawn - I think she melted into her tears... how are you? Please let us know that you survived graduation and its aftermath.

LisaPR - How are all of the games going?

Kelly - I am loving your use of the word whilst. I would try to work it into my vocabulary, but it just doesn't suit me. It suits you perfectly though. Oh and don't forget to let us know when you get to the CSI NY finale. I am curious as to what your thoughts are on it.

Sunny, Stacey, LisaZ, Roddy and all you lurkers - hope you are doing well...

not much going on here today... typical Tuesday, but no evil cookies to distract me today - thankfully.

Paula

Dawn - I looked at your pics, when you put them up --- and when I go to this site...........my heart smiles yet there is a realization that one day I will stand there and take pics like you.

Having four children of my own and I can't believe that one day that will be my children. However, I want to keep them small (well, where they are now) --- I never want them to grow up ;)

(Quick recap incase you have not read long)
I am not sure how old you are but I think a part of the sadness for me is that I do not know any different than being his mom. I had him at 19 - I am 37 now, and my adult life has been Treyner's mom. I also had to fight to keep him as Chad's mom wanted us to give him up for adoption etc. etc.

Anyway, it is not so bad right now. I look forward to his adulthood and watching him grow. I will be a wreck I think whe I drop him of at college but I am planning to buy some airline tickets soon for October so I will have a planned trip out to see him. I figure if it is every few months I will be okay.

I love the young years as well. I made the mistake with Treyner being my first to be impatient for the first steps, teeth, kindergarten etc., since it was all new. "I can't wait for XYZ."

Really slow down and appreciate the now is the best advice I can give anyone. I am much slower and patient with Carsyn and Baylor and try to make a mental picture of the moment.

Thanks to all for the kind words on the pics. It was a great night.

I am making toffee bars, oatmeal cookies, sugar cookies and banana bars as we speak.

Wrote out the list of groceries I need to get still and what I am putting in what for the food containers for display.

Off to finish my cooking.

Dawn - Believe it or not, I am not that far off ......I had my oldest when I was 22; second at 24 and my twins at 28 HENCE being almost 35 now! UGH I count being a young mom as something positive, however finishing up my masters with the children and my DH (who at times was child #5) was a hard.

Erika - Currently I weigh 145, I am 5'4 (nothing like putting it all out there ) - I would love to be 135 ish, then again as long as my heart is healthy I am OK. I am Italian and I love food and to bake :)

I am doing good with my elip and water though...............sorry to be short, but I have to get everyone ready for swim team practice :goodvibes

Back from a LOOOOONG awards night. When on when will this year end already? :rotfl2:

Catching up with work first then will get back here at some point.

Lisa V - thinking about you, too. :goodvibes The mom thing is complicated. It's very very emotional for me right now. Oh, good times!

Thanks Liz! It was my Cheers. When I visited with her Sunday, she told me of some ideas. I would have loved to have brought everybody to visit. It was just that kind of a place.

I get past this weekend and it will be smooth sailing... yep, smooth I tell 'ya.

You definitely have a lot going on! :woohoo: for the race! Hope your block party is a smashing success with picture-perfect weather! :goodvibes

Heck, I'm ready to fly Erika down to get my a$$ in shape.

whoo boy :scared1: I'd think twice on that :lmao:

Lisa V - thinking about you, too. :goodvibes The mom thing is complicated. It's very very emotional for me right now. Oh, good times!

 for all the moms in our lives!

Been there. I was once using nail glue to fix an ornament and I glued two fingers together - when I tried to use my other hand to get them apart, yep, that one stuck too. DH was laughing so much he couldn't help me so I had to walk to my mums to get her to help me :rotfl2:

:lmao: Why does that not surprise me? Mine was only two fingers on the same hand, so I was able to handle it on my own. Thank goodness. My kids were just wrecked with laughter. Little creeps ;)

The elliptical, I usually read a book so it isn't so bad.

I would get motion sick. I just can't do that

OMG, overwhelmed. No crisis or anything, just too much going on.

Definitely have my sympathies. I'm right there with you! I'm swimming up-stream here, trying desparately not to get swept away in the current. :scared:

So crazy busy with just - stuff. Nothing earth shattering or anything - but stuff. Dr's appts, and driving lessons - school awards nights (have another tomorrow :headache:), meetings, LIFE. It just never stops. I'm trying really hard not to get frazzled by it....and to, oddly, enjoy it. Because as Dawn has said - it's a blink of the eye and then <poof> they are graduating. I can't even tell you how many STUPID things make me cry these days. Like this morning when I was packing lunches. I had to wipe the crumbs out of Seth's lunch box (yes - he's a Sr. who still takes a lunch box :lovestruc he HATES the school food.) As I was "de-crumbing" I got all teary. FOR GOD'S SAKE. It's CRUMBS. In a LUNCH BOX.

I need to pull myself together :rolleyes1

But - still exercising. And drinking my water. And eating more conciously....but not sleeping enough - and I know that has to change before everything comes crashing down around me due to exhaustion!

Hi guys!

I am so sorry that I am not replying individually. You are all on my thoughts.

Crazy busy and really want Friday to be here yesterday. I'm trying to re-train my perfectionist self to just get over it if everything isn't perfect.

Did I share that my boss is dog sitting? For nothing? Well, I bought her a $50 iTunes gift card. I'm going to slip it into her purse tomorrow. :rolleyes1

My goal, as far as our driving adventure goes, is to make it through the Smokies before dusk and to stop for the night sometime after Atlanta (it's almost 1/2 way).

Decided that we need to dine at both Spoodles AND T-Rex. My camera has a food setting too btw.

Hey guys...

Update on my challenge - tracking for the last two days. This is HUGE for me. Since I'm um, huge. ;)

Feeling, feeling, feeling the emotions. Lisa V, you get it, right?

Nancy - OMG, I know, but I'd still love Erika to be here! She'd cry with me and then make me run!

Reading everything, love to you all!

GOOD MORNING!

Don't even get me started! Yes, he is spending FATHER'S DAY doing bullsh*t stuff for his mother. It is not Mother's Day! Speaking of flying folks around, Kelly, I may have to fly you across the pond to deal with MIL!

I hear you on the MIL, Im there! :cool2:

And as promised awhile back my mojito recipe again!

I :lovestruc Mojitos! Your recipe sounds great!

Kelly - I am loving your use of the word whilst. I would try to work it into my vocabulary, but it just doesn't suit me. It suits you perfectly though. Oh and don't forget to let us know when you get to the CSI NY finale. I am curious as to what your thoughts are on it.

I cant wait for the CSI NY finale, I think its only a few weeks away?

:lmao: Why does that not surprise me? Mine was only two fingers on the same hand, so I was able to handle it on my own. Thank goodness. My kids were just wrecked with laughter. Little creeps ;)

:rotfl2: You may be less surprised to hear thats its not the only time Ive done it! :rotfl:
