In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Amiee, Erika, I am glad you liked it. It's a common story, but exceptionally told. And what a solider he was - what a good man.

Right. It was the combination of things for me. The writing was great, and yes, he seemed like such a great person; father, husband, friend, soldier, citizen. All of it.

GOOD MORNING!

Dawn - My MIL tips.....not DIS friendly :rotfl: Seriously, I can say what I would do (tell her where to get off, then make no effort to go and see her until her attitude changes) but you have your children to think of, so its a tough one. However, it does sound like Carsyn has a very sensible head on her shoulders, and it doesn't seem like she will take much more of Grandmas rubbish.
Sorry, I know this wasn't very helpful

Liz - Beautiful article, very well written. I have the same issue with Rememberance Day over here.

LisaZ - :cool1: so glad you are feeling good!

Paula - Awesome on the loss!

Erika - Awesom on the run!

Everyone - :wave2:
Sorry if I have missed anyone - Im at work!

Oh Sh!t, Amy :rotfl2: Potty mouth !

:lmao:

No, Amy. Paula and I were awaiting your triumphant return from your Grizzly Adams-esque excursion into the wondrous Floridian wilderness. I'll lay down my frame-work here and we'll go from there.

First of all, I probably need to watch the movie again, but I'm not going to until it comes out on DVD, my next stop is Terminator Salvation. I did my best to pay attention to every scene and every detail so I could talk the most intelligently about it. However, having swine flu, I was struggling with not coughing and sneezing during the movie so as to a) infect as few people as possible b) disturb the other viewers as few times as possible and c) draw as little attention to the fact that I had the flu and was coughing and sneezing in a public place. It also didn't help that before the movie even started, one of the little public service announcements they had up on the screen said, "Is the person next to you coughing and sneezing and spreading their germs? Be sure to respect others by sneezing or coughing into your shoulder and washing your hands thoroughly after using the restrooms that are located at either end of the building and by the concessions area". It was right after the word "germs?" in the first sentence that my loving younger brother (that I so lovingly protected as he was growing up) who has been a law enforcement officer for several years now and is suppose to protect and serve, especially his oldest brother (namely me) who, not to mention, bought his ticket and super large Mt Dew, turns and looks at me, grins like a ******* and says very loudly "YEEESSSSSS, BUAHHAHAHAHAHA" as he's wont to do in already embarrassing situations. :sad2:

Anyway, overall I enjoyed the movie. I have had a basic understanding of Star Trek since I was a kid. That being said, I by no means consider myself a Star Trek geek because I'm way too young to remember the original tv show and never got to see the reruns enough when I was younger. So, most of my Star Trek knowledge came from the old movies "Star Trek The Motion Picture" and "The Wrath of Khan" and so forth. I did love the fact that Leonard Nimoy was in the film as Spock Prime and the effects were awesome. Reading some of the reviews of the movie, maybe I enjoyed the movie so much because I'm not a Star Trek geek. I especially liked Chris Pine's subtle Shatner impression during his exam. :rotfl2:

I can't say I have more than a basic understanding of Star Trek outside of the Next Generation series since that is what I watched, but I did enjoy this movie. Roddy, you are right having Leonard Nemoy in this one helped anchor the plot and almost give a soul to the new crew. Chris Pine did a nice job of playing the cockiness that is Kirk without being to Shatner-esque so that was cool. I loved the guy who played Bones. He cracked me up almost every time he came on screen. Gotta love it when they put humor into an action movie. Still not sure what to make of the whole young Spock / Uhura thing. That one caught me off guard, but oh well. I think I read that they are making a sequel. It should be interesting to see where they take this next.

OK - back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Liz--that was a great article! And it was from my newspaper!

Went to JC and lost 1.8 pounds this week.

:woohoo: Awesome Paula! Congrats to you!

Morning! My cleaning lady just arrived! :cool1: The cavalry is here!

 Congrats to you too, Erika! Getting rescued is a good thing.

Nothing happening here today. It's gray, cloudy, cold, very much "eh". Uninspiring to be sure. I have a few plants left to get in the ground. I suppose I should do that. And grocery shopping. I suppose I should do that too. I just am full-up with "don't wanna" today :upsidedow

I am right there with you sista'... Too bad I am at work and they have this whole, we are willing to pay you if you are willing to show up and do something thing going on... So I guess I better do something...

Good luck with the planting and the grocery shopping...

I'll join in the I don't wanna group. We have friends visiting next weekend, and we have so much to get caught up on in the house. Clutter to be put away, yard stuff, etc. I also need to start thinking about Little D's 2nd birthday. SIL will be visiting at that time, so I will probably actually plan a little party.

Paula WTG on the loss! and the smaller size that I read about a few pages back. That is a great feeling! I was so not expecting ST to be funny at all. I really think that if you like action and humor, that you would enjoy ST, even if sci fi is not your thing. DH was also surprised about the Spock/Uhura thing. There will SO be a sequel.

Erika Glad you got your run in and Woo-hoo for getting the cleaning lady!

None of my emoticons are working! Weird.

PAULA!!! Your BLING! Holy crap, girl! :worship::worship::worship:

I am proud of you--on so many levels! Seriously, we are so lucky to even KNOW you!

E - thanks...

I am about to call it a day work wise and start my trek north for a Girl Scout properties committee meeting (the meeting is an hour away). So - no workout for me today :sad2: and a likely fast food dinner. Thankfully, I have discovered Dunkin Donuts egg white flatbreads (under 300 calories, whole grains, a decent fiber content, a little high in fat content, but not crazy high like a burger and fries, a decent portion size and they are yummy). They save me when I am eating on the road.

I'll try to check in when I get home later tonight. Have a great rest of the day everyone.

Are you KIDDING ME? I have been gone all day and NOTHING?

Wow... I sit through a three hour meeting and then drive the hour plus home and there are no posts. I hope you were all out doing something fun.

Kat has an excuse - she is mourning the Canes' loss, but what about the rest of you?

Sorry! Big day for me, lots to do. Right now I am hanging out with Jodi - she is over. We are catching up on TIVO while she scrapbooks. YES, now she is a mom and suddenly she scrapbooks! :lmao: Gen's pics and stuff, of course.

Hi Jodi!!! Happy Scrapbooking...

I am off to bed. I am wiped out and need some sleep.

Catch you all on the flip side...

Morning!

LisaPR--where ARE you? Hope everything is OK.

Liz--so funny that Jodi is scrapbooking! Are they holding up ok?

Me? I am so not holding up ok, but whatever. It'll get better. Just a lot going on right now, very little of it good, but nothing life-threatening, so that is what I am holding on to. My running sucks these days, btw. But I am trying to get my sh*t back together. I hate getting de-railed. Hate, hate, hate it.

Wow, sorry to start the day on a negative note. Totally didn't mean to do that. I would turn it around with some crap about flowers and rainbows, but that wouldn't be real. And the one thing about this thread is that it is real, and that is why it works for us, right?

Erika - we are nothing if not real, so vent away. Besides, it is rainy and dreary here so I am in no mood for rainbows and sunshine. Hang in there and don't forget, your house is spotless so you are already ahead of the game.

Good Morning to everyone else. Time to wake up and get moving and more importantly get posting... Where did everyone go? :confused3

Erika, I'm hanging out, lurking away. Trying to keep up while I am working to catch up our backlog. Sorry things are not going well right now but keeping it real is the best way to deal. Oh that was kind of Dr. Seussy wasn't it. Sorry. :lmao: I am off schedule too and working hard to get back onto it. My running does not suck, but my scheduling does.

Everyone else, to you all. I wish I could contribute more but if I am stagnant for more than 2 minutes, they start the nastygrams coming.

Take care of you everyone!!!

Good Morning.

I told you guys a few days ago that I had an infection. Well yesterday I knew it was more than a simple infection. They ordered a CT scan and found out on top of the stupid infection which is minimal, I have another cyst on my right ovary. This time 5cm. It is rupturing and thus the pain. Today a better morning and I hope it continues.:worship:

WTH is up with the Pensylvania mom faking a kidnapping and being found in WDW?

The news I was wanting to tell you I can now spill!

We are moving the wedding to June of next year rather than March. And we are moving locations!

We have decided to get married at Disney's Vero Beach and I am thrilled and feel really content with everything. I had no idea that they could do weddings and Carsyn had finally pushed me to call them.

There is so many benefits to this.
#1 All kids will be off for summer. No conflict for 3 schedules of spring break.
#2 We can have up to 25 people for a small wedding and we are now at 19 in attendance. That gives us some wiggle room for a few family members or friends that may/may not come.

In Orlando if we do an Escape wedding we can only have 18 and that cost is $4,500 without food/dinner added or tax and gratuity. It also includes things we do not want/need. This package only comes with 20 pictures and I would want to upgrade the cake so I would be spending more money than this anyway.

Our best guess on costs with the additions we had wanted and a dinner would be over $8,000.

If there is 19 people or more it jumps to a Wishes wedding and that minimum is $12,000. That is a huge descrepency in money for only a few more people and I do not want to feel like I have to spend money on things I have no interest in because of minimums.

#3 Vero is an absolute joy and I love how laid back it is. It gives us the benefit of Disney quality without the hubub of WDW.

It also a lot less expensive. We can have a gorgeous wedding on the boardwalk or croquet lawn and a 4 course meal for 18 people for less than $3,000 including tax and gratuity. I need to buy flowers for us and a photographer and a cake but that can be in my control and since the florist/cake/photographer will not be Disney's, I am sure there will be a savings of some sort.

We then can take the difference in money saved and put it into a long term love...more points at DVC or a motorcycle/boat/RV.

We have been talking about the final arangements for a few weeks now. We sat down and really looked at what we wanted for the wedding. One of the pics was Sunset Point at the Poly but you can only have like 8 people there. We liked the low key feel at the Poly. This lead to contemplate about Hawaii but the expense of that wedding with even just 7 of us was more than I wanted. Get married in the Keys but again, who do I trust more than Disney for quality of service and atmosphere? So that brought us back to WDW but it just did not feel right yet.

Than Carsyn said, "Why not the best of the beach and Disney and get married at Vero?"

I will let you know when the final date is set - we are tossing around a few days but need to confirm what they have open.

Well that is it. Sorry for blabbering.

E - I am sorry you are dealing with not fun stuff.
Paula - I am proud you looked into a better choice FF!
LisaPR - glad your running is still up and going.
Liz - glad Jodi has an outlet of happiness!
