In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Liz, I have often thought the same thing when I see pics of you. I chose this race because I had lots of friends doing it too. There was a big contingent of WISH doing it, mostly the half though. It is also touted as a well run and great race. It truly is, although the heat was the x-factor. It is normally in the 70s which would have been far more tolerable and got me in under 5:30 instead of 6:30.

Update, still at goal, working toward my Valerie Bertinelli goal now. We are the same height and if she can hit 123 I can too....or not...what ever! Exercising is just down to 4-5 days a week now, gym and what I feel like. I have decided to bike today as Mike's pickup is done at the local garage and I can get it home that way. I am not up to 4 miles running yet. It is just too soon. I will bike farther and then swing by to drive the truck home after I am done. I still have to check my body fat.....:rolleyes1

I love my skirts. I have 2 different kinds, the NB one in the pic that I can get cheap up here with boyshorts underneath and Runningskirts.com skirts with briefs that have better pockets in them. I love them both! You should try them. My MIL swore she would NEVER run in a skirt but she is a convert too. So is my SIL...

PD to Jodi. Keeping her in my thoughts.

OMG, my entire town is a MESS.

They just announced this morning that all of Little League is canceled for the week. All practices and game. Several churches have announced no services on Sunday. This is going to start SUCH a chain reaction.

My phone has been ringing off the hook.

More later.

LisaPR - you look fantastic crossing that finish line. You should be so proud...

Now, what is this ipod attachment and speakers that you speak of. You must tell me more about that....

Liz - sending hugs and prayers to you and Jodi...

Erika - I'm with you and am so over the hysteria known as swine flu... Sending you hugs and prayers too... That is way too much stress to deal with.

Can't talk - way too much to do here today. I'll try to check in later...

Paula

What's going on? Something with Sylvia?

Steph--great job on the walk! 3.5 miles is a great walk! How long? Are you back to tracking? If your fingers are swelling, you need to drink more water.
.

Liz I hope Sylvia is doing ok! Jodi too!

Thanks! That was my first one! I am going out now for another! I was in a lot of pain on tuesday and Wednesday! I know it will get better as I walk more. I just have to continue to walk and not give up after a few days and that is where I go bad. I will do it for a few days and then BOOM I dump it! I have to get OCD about it to do it! I was the same with the tracking for 6 months I tracked and tracked.... I was obsessive about it! then I moved and computer was up stairs and that ended it! I still have yet to get back into it!
I know I need to drink more water! I don't drink enough fluids! I hardly drink anything while I am home! I drink water and soda while at work, but when I am home NOTHING! Unless there is diet iced tea or diet kool aid.

I send him to ask the coach where the trainer is, and I go sit with some friends on the bleachers to watch & chat. A good hour later, Nate's race is starting to line up. But I don't see him anywhere. Ok. W.T.F. I've just sat here for an hour and where is that dang kid? My cell phone rings. It's one of the other mom's who is helping with the meet. She asks me where I am. Bleachers, why? Nate's nose is STILL BLEEDING. not kiddding. He'd been with the trainer for a full HOUR and his nose would not.stop. Stephen and I made our way down there. The poor kid had blood everywhere. On his clothes. on his shoes. On his face, hands, body.

Obviously, he missed his race. It finally stopped, but holy crap it took forever.

Oh - then the mom who called me starts in with "OMG you were in Texas with all those Mexicans. YOU NEED TO BE TESTED FOR SWINE FLU". You're kidding right? Please. Just shoot me now.

<sigh> [/B][/COLOR]
OMG so scary! Sam used to get nose bleeds a lot as a small child! She hasn't had one in a while (knock on wood)
ERika I can't believe they are shutting everything down. Thats just crazy! Scary! Nothing mentioned from our school as of yet! I did hear one of the girls at work say something about the city school if there is a case they will shut down.
Ok need to put mocha in kennel and WALK! I would bring her but it's just to much to walk with her, I think its to much upper body work out for me I am constantly pulling her leash Or maybe it I am being pulled by the leash. And I go slower with her! Need to stop to pee sniff etc!

Thread Bankruptcy declared and forgiveness sought!

Hi everyone and I hope you all are okay.

It has been forever since I wrote and I am sorry I missed out on all of your lives but please know you were all thought of.

With the electricity down to the house in sections for the remodel because we expanded more demolition then was originally thought, I lost internet access here for most of the past 2 weeks and then that virus re-plagued the laptop and we just got it up and running. I have thought of you all often but needed to prioritize getting stuff done here versus running to the library to wait in line for a computer and then say hi to you all.

For me, that was a hard but huge growth. I am trying to learn to put myself first in things and not carry guilt/responsibility that either I put on myself or obsess about that most people would just let go. (a great friend from here pointed out that I have enough of my own crud to deal with that I need to focus on and not add more stress. She was dead on.)

Minus a bit of paint and the trim and countertops, the house is great. Functional at least. I have never swept so much in my life. Removed most of a wall, new flooring in, painted everywhere and we did most ourselves so I appreciate now more than ever the work those home remodel/flipper guys get into.

On top of that priority, Carsyn had her 2nd surgery last week and so was at the hosital with her for a few days. She is well.

Went to Indiana for a soccer tourney for 3 days 2 weekends ago. Then last weekend to Illinois for one and Wisconsin this weekend. If it had been 80 degrees and warm I would have been than at least by now but rain and wind is all we have gotten.

Finally picked a date for Treyner's grad party and my Tupperware business which I have not been focussed on lately, is up and runnig again.

Busy but good with everything but my Dad. He left for the Phillipines last August to get married and has not came back. You would all be proud of me because he had asked me to be the person to sponsor his new bride and guess what? I said no! :woohoo: He was angry and words were exchanged from his end that used to make me cringe or give in, but I stuck to my decession and he ended up with my sister saying yes. I gave her my reasons for no - she is an adult and usually I would have felt responsible again for her choice but I truly have grown a lot this last month and just let it go.

They have no money, nowhere to live when they get here and I did not want that responsibility. My sister is single and maybe she thinks she can cope better.

Anyway, I will spend about an hour today going back and trying to get caught up on the highlights.

You all I am sure have been kicking booty!

So news about Jodi. Not good. She's in the hospital for the duration. Lost lots of amniotic fluid. Placenta abruption. Baby is still strong, though. So please pray that this baby stays healthy, strong, and in mom until the danger is past.

xoxo

This one Paula: http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?product_id=10186

You can find it other places, I just quickly Googled it so you could see it.

Ok - silly question, but how does this mount to the bike? Don't forget, I am a biking newbie here...

Yikes... So praying for Jodi and her baby.... Hang in there Liz...
How long is it until the danger is past?

Dawn - welcome back. Sounds like you have been busy.

It has some mounting hardware that comes with it but basically it just clamps on. There is a wireless remote that you can put on your handlebars so you can change songs, volume, etcetera without falling over. It is not recommended for a Touch but I use mine in it.

Nice to see you back Dawn!! :goodvibes

Thanks Lisa... I will check it out. I especially like the not falling part.... :rotfl:

Steph - forgot to mention - yeah on the walking!!! Hang in there, the pain will go away. Remember when I started training and couldn't walk? One day I woke up and the pain was gone so it will happen. Also, I carry a water bottle with me almost everywhere so that I have water with me to drink (no excuses). My sister even asks before we leave to go somewhere because she thinks something is missing if I don't have it.

You can do this!!!!

Welcome back, Dawn.

Thanks, Lisa, my sister in body shape!

Paula - The danger is past when the baby is born healthy, and not too preemie. It's very risky. Could be fine, baby is strong. Could be a tragedy. Have to think positive and hope the baby is born healthy as late as possible. 24 weeks is not good. 32? That would be okay.

I'd throw six of those showers to make it so.

Ronda- love the bike talk :thumbsup2

Amiee - so sorry to hear you are not feeling well.

Kat - you too. Feeling any better?

...

OMG. :lmao: My son just emerged from the basement with his "accessory" for school tomorrow. Yep. He's got on one of those dust masks - and OSHA rated one no less. Oy. Where the kid gets his irreverance for potentially serious situations is beyond me :rolleyes1

Thanks Nancy... I just surfaced. Went home at 7 from work, crashed on the couch for a bit, and then went to bed for real at 9PM. Slept through until 9:30AM and I do feel a bit better. Still out of it and such but better than yesterday.

Seth!! I shouldn't find that funny but I do.

LisaPR, loved the pics. You are so thin.

Liz, so sorry about Jodi. Send her a very gentle  from me.

E, sorry about all the swine flu stuff. What a pain.

As to eating plans and such, um, yeah. I plead the fifth.

Oh Liz! So really, she is in the hospital for like 14 weeks? Or bed rest at home? Keep us posted. At least the baby is still strong!

Lisa--bike gadgets! :cool1: Love it when I can buy gear!

Steph--what Paula said! Keep going, the pain goes away and then it just feels really good afterward.

Dawn--pics. Gonna need 'em!

:grouphug::grouphug::hug::hug: For Jodi! and for you!

AH Yes the first mile is the Killer! I was in pain and almost turned around but then I saw the STOP sign and that is the first mile maker, so I said why turn back now! I did it. I walked all three point five miles! It took me an hour?? Is that good time for walking?? ERIKA LISA/PR ???

Kat I hope you feel better! My brother goes through that every time I go down in the winter with the kids. I leave and he ends up with some cold... not that any of us have a cold just different germs that he isn't used to. So I see that you had fun with EM! Love the pic of you two. So glad you had fun.

So off to fold laundry and clean up before work!
And drink some water!

Erika - She is the hospital until they take the baby. They hope for 28 weeks or later.

Not a super awesome outcome. Fingers crossed.

Thanks guys for all the prayers and love! Going there now.

Liz - Jodi! Ok, I am praying for the best outcome! Liz - for you too. You are really being put thru the ringer. So many things that mean so much out of your control.:wizard:

Steph - :cool1:on the walking. That is so awesome. I need to just do it too.

Dawn - welcome back. Yes, you must put yourself first, that's the whole point. (I'll get it one day too.)

Lisa - loved the pics.

LisaViolet - thinking of you. Hang in there. I'm assuming you don't have internet access right now.

Hi to everyone.

Just had an awesome lunch from Long John Silvers. Stop gagging EriKa. It was grilled talipa, rice and veggies. 350 calories. So good. And hot. And fast.

bike talk!!!!

When it comes time to consider new pedals, Paula, look at something like these. I am able to use them for my commute and flip them for long haul rides. I love the clipless pedals because I get to buy NEW SHOES! On glove creature comfort, get some with gel in the palms. A long ride will leave you with numb hands and it takes a while to go away. Finally, don't be shy, at the first hint of pain, get something like chamois buttr. I figured this out on day two of a five day ride. OHMIGOD 'nuff said.

Good luck on the fitting this weekend!

I'm going to wash my hands now...

Ronda

Ronda - thanks for all of the info. I'm sure I will have a ton of questions as I get going with this. It is nice to know that I have resident experts (you, Nancy, Erika and LisaPR) to consult with... :grouphug:

Liz - Oy... As much as I feel for Jodi, I am worried about you too. Like Lyz said, so much is going on in your life right. Promise me that you will take some time out of your taking care of others to take care of yourself through all of this.

Today has been the day from hell work wise... So back to the salt mines for me.

LIZ-- LOTS of prayers for Jodi and the baby :goodvibes

STEPH-- WTG on the walking! When I walk I try to do 4 miles in an hour, so you are doing great!! :goodvibes

KAT--Glad you got some great sleep!!

DAWN--

Apparently the piggy flu has hit Florida. Do you think they would shut down Disney?? I would hope not. That would be over the top. We're supposed to go on saturday. I want my birthday gift card!!!

Delena and I walked to the park this morning and she played there for over an hour and then we walked back. The smallest slide at this park, for kids her age, does not have stairs to it, only a ladder. :confused3 She can't climb a ladder yet, so I lifted her up to the slide at least 25 times, so that was a bit of a workout in itself!!
