In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Hey all!!!!

SO the festival was fun.......

Few snag ups though. First, accidently put a NOT charged battery in my camera....so we get in the car and I go to start taking pictures of the beautiful mountains on the way....and the camera turns off!! :scared1: This, of course, started freaking me out, since my cats had previously knocked it into the water dish!!!! But, thankfully, about mid day my friend Breanna came to the rescue and brought me batteries when they came down :)

Then, it poured. It flat out dog peeing on the rock POURED...............TWICE!!!!!!!!!! It rained out the Puke and Snot show (anyone ever seen this duo at their Renaissance Festival? They are hilarious!!!) so we missed that, and it had rained so bad that when it all drained down the mountain, it completely soaked the area that they do the jousts so they had to sort of improvise and do it in the field where all the guests normally sit!

All in all, it was a fun day. Some pictures for your enjoyment (sorry for all the pictures, I haven't had my new camera that long and I LOVE it!):)

Safe travels...

Cathie - really loved the pics. Thanks.

Good morning everyone. :lovestruc

Morning!

AMY--safe travels! And the weather is totally PERFECT for your visit. OMG, it is going to be in the 70s, mostly sunny, with great breezes. (Ok, so you won't get the ocean breezes over there, but maybe off the lake!)

NANCY--GO Becca!

Lyz--Sorry about Mol, but you can't blame this on yourself! OMG, you make worksheets? And quizzes?? Holy crap! That makes you Mother of the Year in my book! I have never done anything like that!

LIZ--trip update, please.

Paula--a new race! AWESOME! SO exciting. And totally loved that you wore WISH colors, by the way!

LISA--you had me howling this week-end with your posts!

Well, we haven't made any firm decisions yet, but it looks like we will put the family trip to Asia off for now. We found out lots of great information in the past few days that will make it easy for us to go whenever we choose, really. So there is no rush. I would rather have J spend more time there first so that it will be easier once I am there with the kids. Like, he'll already know where the American grocery store is so I won't have to drag 3 kids around a massive city where no one speaks English trying to find one, etc. (I will eat what is culturally the norm, however I don't expect the kids to be that adventurous!)

I did really well with calorie intake over the week-end, so that is a huge victory. Like Kat, I can do well without much trouble during the week, but week-ends derail me in a heartbeat.

Happy Monday!

Hi all. It's Monday.

E - that makes sense to wait to go to Asia. Although I'm intrigued as to how you can go "anytime" with the kiddos?

Cathie - great pics. Espically the rainy flowers.

Lisa - when can you move in?

Just meant that is far as J's company is concerned, we can go whenever. I would have no problem pulling the kids out of school and home-schooling them while over there, though. I consider travel abroad a far better education than anything they would get in school here.

The real issue in "anytime" travel is MY job actually. I have to be on campus one afternoon-evening/week, so I don't know how they would feel if I took a whole month and went totally online for that month. My contract is something like 90% online (not sure of the actual percentage, but basically it stipulates that I have to be on campus at least once each week for students who need to meet with me in person, etc.).

Plus, August and into the Fall are the best times to be in Maine. I am thinking that we might try to leave right after Christmas and be gone through the end of January. That is a great time to get out here, the kids would only miss a few weeks of school and I don't go back until something like January 25th. The other option is to just go on sabbatical for the Spring semester and then we can go anytime during those 5 months. Lots to think about.

Morning!

Paula--a new race! AWESOME! SO exciting. And totally loved that you wore WISH colors, by the way!

This was totally conincidental... I wore the brightest shirt I had because I was going to be on a road with real cars and such and wanted to be seen - not that they couldn't miss my big ole butt or anything... :rotfl:

Happy Monday!

Is there such a thing as a happy monday? I woke up this morning and had no desire to come to work. Just wanted to sleep...

Enjoy the beautiful weather - heading to the pool club?

E/Nancy, it's so weird. Whenever you have a nice, sunny day, we have some sort of gloomy rainy deluge. Like today, for example, it's raining its hiney off.

Cathie, loved the pics. Didn't see one of *you*, though! ;)

Liz, hope you have managed to hold on to your sanity!

Amy, have fun up north!!

Everyone else,.

Off to pretend to be awake..

Kat-Of course, there's none of me, there's a good reason I've dubbed myself as the photographer on the group ;)
Actually, Carlos's mom got a few of me, as soon as I get them from her I'll make sure to share them. :)

Goofy-I think the only happy Monday is the one where you wake up on vacation!!! :rotfl: Don't feel bad, I didn't want to come to work either :) BUT I found out the boss is working from home today so that means no one to catch me on the Dis!!! :lmao:

Thanks all for the comments on the pictures! It was hard to narrow them down and not put them all up!

This weekend was definitely an interseting one. Friday night Carlos and I went to dinner, and then went to a few stores because I wanted to find some comfy shorts for Saturday.....to no avail. I refuse to shop at a plus size store, it's almost admitting defeat, but I wasn't able to find anything that fit at all on Friday. It was disturbing, to say the least :sad2: I decided that if I ever feel like it's worth it to eat a bunch of junk and get off track, I will just take myself clothes shopping and remind myself why I am doing this!!!!!:headache:

Saturaday was the festival. Besides being irritated as you know what by future mother in law, it was a lot of fun!

Yesterday, I wound up helping my mom clean out my brother's room, since he's gone and that room was absolutely DIIISGUSTING! I found so much of my stuff in there that he had stolen....and even some DVD and CD cases of mine that were empty. It makes me wonder how much of my stuff he stole and sold without me even realizing. I realized yesterday that my old digital camera is gone...I didn't use it much since I have my new one, just when I went to the bar and stuff cuz I'm afraid to take my nice one there. We found a LOT of disturbing stuff, and while I have a lot of animosity towards who he is already, I DEFINITELY did after seeing the things we found. It was definitely an eye opener for my mom, who has always tried to believe that he was a good little angel. I skipped church to stay and help her, now I'm wishing I had gone because I could have used the encouragement!

So after all that, I was DEFINITELY ready to get out of there, so Carlos and I went and had dinner, and I treated myself to a bit of my favorite retail therapy at Walmart: school supplies shopping! :lmao: Seriously, I get excited to start school every term and love buying new stuff :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that your weeks are starting out well!!!

OH! And thank you to everyone for their well wishes regarding my grandpa and everything else in general. I really really do appreciate it :):):)

Cathie -

I read through your paragraph about clothes shopping and could so relate. It is hard to admit that you have gone up a size or two (or three or four), but you still need to get dressed in the morning and why should you look anything less than your best? You need to dress the body you have (even if you hate it) by wearing your right size. Trying to cram yourself into something that is too small or too big only makes you look worse and I suspect make you feel worse about yourself than you already are. (all of you Stacey and Clinton fans should relate to this...) Why pile on here?

Plus size stores suck - I know, I have been shopping at them for years and can not wait for the day when I don't have to shop there, but I refuse to discredit myself by not doing all I can to make me look my best. As I said earlier about the scale, the size on the clothing tag is just a number. Cut the tags out if you can't stand the number, but don't discount the importance of a good fit. You will look and feel a thousand times better when you put on a piece of clothing that fits you as opposed to being depressed when you can't button your pants or your upper arms look like sausages trying to squeeze out of the casings. You don't have to buy much but you should buy a few things to get you through. I have always gotten compliments on how I looked when wearing clothes that fit me and were a bit on the fitted side as opposed to items that were too big or too small.

Plus think of the feeling you get when you put on something and realize that it is too big for you to wear. It is priceless. That will be a great incentive for you to get out of those clothes quickly. Trust me, work hard and you will be out of those clothes in no time.

Hope this helps...

You know...I do agree. I can't say that I don't. And this has always been the way I thought, it is just that up until now, I didn't quite need to go to a plus size store. I was buying the biggest size at Old Navy and Walmart (because quite frankly, Walmart's plus sizes are a joke.) and it was okay. The clothes fit, and pretty well. So if I can just get down one size, then I will be okay with the places I have been shopping. The problem I'm running into is that if I go to an actual 'plus size' it feels too big. I have a small frame, and the clothes that are plus size seem to be made to fit big everywhere. The t shirt sleeves go to my elbows lol. If I go to a regular store, things are too small. I'm at a really in betwen size. And it stinks!!!! And, if you ask Beyonce, I don't really 'need' any more clothes anyway lol. What does he know right?

Thanks for the insight. I do agree with you. Here's hoping I can lose that extra size soon enough to get back to some normal shopping :)

OH, and I weigh in today, but it's that time of the month, so wish me luck lol!

(BTW, LOVE LOVE LOVE Stacy and Clinton!) :thumbsup2

Cathie, I really couldn't feel your pain any more, on the clothes shopping.

I am with you on the plus sizes not fitting. My problem, though, is the hips and butt area. I am a typical apple shape (I call it a pumpkin on stilts) and I put rows of spare tires on around the middle. So anything with a "W" designation, I wind up with the waist super tight and enough room in the seat to fit a 2 yr old. Very not flattering.

Actually, having to go to a plus size store was my catalyst in '07 to start trying to be healthier and smaller. I succeeded pretty well until last summer, and have managed to put enough back on to be really unhappy about it.

Right now my problem is that I really should be a 16, and don't have any 16s left over from the last time I was a 16. And I refuse to buy more 16s. So I am squeezing into my 14s, and Stacy and Clinton would be HATING on me.

I also have worn out most of the pseudo-flattering summer shirts that I have, and need more... I have half-a$$ed tried to shop for some over the last few weeks but I just hate how I look right now and it gets me all discouraged and I give up.

So my coworkers get some mixup of the same 5 separates, every week! Thank goodness my profession doesn't exactly call for fashion mavens... well, or even have women in it for the most part!

:)Paula - way to go. You can add "wrench" (bike mechanic) to your titles!

DGF and I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the lake. We spent yesterday afternoon trying to cram all of our usual weekend tasks into a few hours. They didn't fit :)

Kat this is ME!!! I am getting desperate for new clothes. I have run the same few shirts into the ground. I have to get something less hot before the fair. ARRRRGH!!!

Cutie - I legally close on Friday (here it's six pm legal turnover). Won't do any big move until Saturday but still will be sleeping over on Friday. No one will stop me there.

I'm at the in between stage right now too. Hit and miss. Usually plus 14/regular store 16. Doesn't always work. And I've gained since March. But HEAVEN - it's been heaven to buy a lot of things in regular stores. HEAVEN PAULA!!! You're almost there Pedestal Paula. It will come soon. And it will be heaven. I love it - Pedestal Paula. :lmao::lovestruc

Cathie - was saddened to read about going through your brother's room. Must be such a myriad of emotions.

I've officially reached the point of disgust. Complete revulsion. I feel like crap. I'm lethargic. And bloated. And doughy. I've gained back all but 1 pound of the weight that I worked so hard to lose after New Years....

So. What did I do today? Well...what else would you expect me to do?

I went for a really long bike ride. And drank gallons of water. Then....

I baked Heath bar-Chocolate Chip cookies. Seems I can only make myself feel better about ME by fattening up those who I'm surrounded by.

and I only ate one. So far. Bah.

I completely agree with you on the travel and home school situation. Wow! That would be awesome for them. I hope you are able to work things out with your job, so that you are able to travel when the climate is right over there. I wouldn't want you to be stuck abroad during the rainy season. :scared1:
