In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Hi you awesome people!

Computer crashed again with a virus Baylor came upon on U-tube. :sad2:

Had to wait for Dan to be back in town to re-boot the stuff and be up and running again!

Will read and catch up. Serious withdrawl but it has let me get loads done in kitchen - will post pics tonight!

Hope all is well.

However, that doesn't change my mind about rest being highly underrated. I do six days on/two off on purpose. There is nothing like that first day back on after two. Nothing. I feel so incredibly strong.

Erin insists that I take at least one full day off per week. And by "day off" she means that I should be total couch potato! :scared1: And by "day off" I mean I won't run. Or lift. I'll just go for a hike, or shovel crap from the barn

Rest is very, very important to your body. And we often think that the harder we work the better. But the trick, IMO, is to work SMARTER, not necessarily harder. But - what that means to each of us can be so very different.

ugh. That stinks. :headache: Glad to have you back! :flower3: How's the kitchen coming along?

Hi! Haven't read, but I will. Things are fine here...just super busy. It's the time of year more than anything else. April is always crazy with work as I am wrapping up the academic year. We end on May 2. Plus this year I am simultaneously getting the camp ready and planning the cruise, rehabbing an injury and Momming (LOVE that Lyz made that a verb! I use it all the time now! :rotfl2:) I'll try to get caught up. Not claiming thread bankruptcy....yet!

Hey there! Just got back from my SIL'S stephen called me when I got home from work and told me to come down, they had a camp fire and smirinoff(spelling) and SMORES! YUMMY!.

ERika~ have a great time planning your trip!

Paula~ hope all turned out well with your dad & you feel better.

Kat hope the hot tube over flow didn't cause to much damage!

AMIEE~ hows it going?

HI to everyone else!
Need to go to bed mocha whining to go upstairs to sleep and so isn't stephen. The boys are out and the girls just went up! Hopefully everyone will sleep past 630!

Morning everyone. Quick check in and/or fly by. Full day ahead...:rolleyes1

Paula, first up :wizard: for your dad. Sorry I missed all this. The rule of thumb is above the neck workout below the neck take a rest. I know this info is too little too late and I hope it went well with Jesse. He should have a good idea how far to push you now even sick.

 to everyone who needs one. There seems to be some bad mojo going around. I think it is the time of year myself. I hope everyone feels better!

I took a rest day yesterday. Well, I should clarify that by saying I took a non-cardio day yesterday. I did lift but I don't count that I guess. Today is 9 miles and I have to push a little harder to get it in before I have to pick up the kids. You cannot pick up a 14YO girl from practice all smelly, sweaty and in your running clothes. It is a cardinal rule of some sort. Maybe it is one of the 7 deadly sins, I am not sure on that. Have to consult the mommy rule book. Dinner in and early night for us. Figuring trip snackage and setting out clothes to pack. Oh yeah, and working too...:surfweb:

Rock on...:rockband:

Lots of work drama and completely exhausted from it, but I am hanging in there.

Becca would tell me that I look like a Hobo. But frankly, I don't care. What good is it being a parent if you can't horrify your kids now and then. :confused3 I use it as a behavior modification tool - they behave the way I want, I don't embarrass them by showing up looking like something the cat dragged in! :goodvibes

Today is Tuesday. Which means "training with Erin" day in my world. I was up, dressed, ready to walk out the door (literally. had shoes, coat on & gym bag in hand) when my phone rang at 6:30 :headache: It was Erin. She had to cancel. She took quite a tumble this weekend - fell down a flight of stairs at her fathers - and she wasn't even drinking  Nothing's broken - but she got pretty battered and bruised. Thought she was going to be able to function by this morning, but couldn't :sad2:

So I had to kick my own a$$. Which I did. Now it's shower time for me - then haircut, bank and a few misc. errands. Hope ya'll are having a good day.

Oh - and Amy - be safe in those storms down there - saw on the news some pretty nasty weather is headed in your general direction!

Hey all!

I am alive, just busy, mostly with little D. She just doesn't stop. It is fun though! Easter was great and we got our first swim in of the season!

Like Nancy said, SCARY storms here this morning. :scared1:Tornado's close to my house. :scared1::scared1: And we don't have a basement so D and I were about ready to head into the bathroom when the storm luckily died out. The worst has passed now though. And we do need the rain. Very crispy here.

I will be back sometime later on!!

Hi everyone,

I finally feel back amongst the living again. I wouldn't wish that stomach bug on anyone (well maybe the folks at that peanut plant that knowingly distributed salmonella tainted products, but I digress). I am back at work and am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

LisaPR - thanks for the info. My session with Jesse is scheduled for tonight. Still not sure what I am going to do. Going to make my decision after lunch when I am going to attempt to eat protein and complex carbs at the same meal for the first time in like four days now. My thought process is that if I can't get the fuel into my body that I am going to need to work out than I probably shouldn't work out. I'm sure Jesse will take it easy on me once he finds out what the last three days have been like. I am making progress though. Chicken soup and some crusty bread last night, toast, tea and applesauce this morning. Just need to get some more protein going and then I'll venture back into vegetables again. Really I am focusing on hydrating the most. Lots of water, gatorade and a little vitamin water from time to time since I know I lost a lot of fluids during this thing. My scale at home tells me that I am 10 pounds lighter than I was last week. Scary when you think about it... Good luck with the 9 mile run. You are pretty amazing in that you juggle so much and are marathon training on top of it. Don't let anyone tell you that you are not...

Dawn - welcome back. Sorry about the computer crashing. That is never fun. Can’t wait for the pics.

LisaV – thanks for sharing your thoughts on rest. I really don’t want to get out of my schedule for fear that I won’t get back on it. I know that my body needs some rest from working out (like right now, four days in a row is my max), but haven’t really been this sick while working out before so it is new territory for me. Hope you are starting to find your groove again soon!!!!

Lisa Z – How are you? Things still going well with your class? Still the favorite teacher?

Ronda – so glad that your running is going so well. I know I can’t wait to start biking outside, so running outside will be awesome!

Sunny – How are you? Hope all is well.

Stacey – Have you come up for air since finishing the semester’s term papers or are you up to your ears in house buying work. Either way, I hope you are doing well.

Sarah – I am not sure if you are still reading this or not, but Hi!!!!

Liz – can’t wait to hear about the luau. Since I didn’t get to eat Easter Dinner, I am going to live through your stories okay?

Lyz – How is life in Ohio these days? Now that the H&G show is over what is next on your always busy schedule?

Erika – The cruise is like what three weeks away now? Have you figured out what to tell the kids yet?

Nancy - Sorry to hear about Nancy's fall. Hope she is back to her usual butt kicking self by your next session.

Amy – sounds like a wise move to stay in for the day if the weather is that yucky. Be safe!

Amiee – Glad the kids loved their baskets. Awesome score on the cameras.

Kat – How are the kickboxing classes going. Still the pushup goddess?

Roddy – Hope life is treating you well… I told you not to go and get on any lists and now you are cut off from watching Dr. Who. Oh bother…

Kelly – hope you are having a grand time in Cypress.

Steph - sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, but smores... yum....

I hope I caught everyone… sorry if I didn’t, but it was a lot to catch up on…

Question for everyone.

Do any of you have a Wii Fit? If so, what do you think of it? I'm considering looking into it, but want to get some real-life input/feedback from folks.

Oh challenge update:

Strength training - 2-1/2 times (didn't make it through my session on Saturday)
Cardio - 2 times
Weight lost - not sure, but about 10 pounds thanks to my stomach bug... not sure I want to count that though since I will likely put some weight back on this week.

Next week will hopefully, be more normal right?

Paula, glad you are feeling some better. Hope that 10 lb loss sticks!!

Nancy, I don't have a Wii fit. Liz does, not sure if anyone else here does, though. I looked into it a bit and the general consensus that I heard was that it is really fun, and a good workout for someone who isn't in very good shape. With your gym time, trainers, running, etc., you would likely find it a fun diversion but not a workout.

LisaPR, I would totally pick her up sweaty. But, I don't have kids. Hmm, is that reason #43231235?

Everyone else,

Oh Paula I was mainly talking about scheduled rest in a workout routine anyway. So there would be no fear about getting back on cause they are part of your schedule. I have no idea how many days you're on. LIke built into your program. Like my six on in a row and two off. Some people fear rest days but they are very important. But hey Lisa's advice was bang on anyway. Your body can't build and fight this at the same time.

Thanks for your wishes. I'm off work work today. Got some travel to do though. I just got down from my workout. I'm so going to miss our gym in this building. It's on the roof - so city and lake views while you're working out. Priceless.

And I'm sitting here ont he disboards instead of packing. Closing April 30 and haven't packed a thing. :rolleyes1 Good thing I live small. Not that I have a place to go yet. :rotfl: Laughing so I don't roll into a ball. :lmao:

Wait - 10 pounds!!!! Holy sh!t Paula. Hope you're feeling much better soon.

:surfweb:Yep. I pick yep.

Hi Kat. How are you?

Amy - ouch on the storms. Geez.

And Delena - everywhere :rotfl: Lovely.

My parents rebooked their condo there for next winter already. God willing. I was like eeek - who knows what a year will bring with my mother. Some days I think it's vascular dementia and not Alzheimer's but who knows. Either will bring changes. But happy because it's nice to have something for them to look forward to.

That line makes me laugh. Like they need it. ;)My parents, nearing their mid seventies, are the most social and active people I know. Full social life. :lmao: Here there and everywhere. Theatre, parties, card groups - everywhere. My mom has a forty something year card group. Forty flippin' years. Lord knows how she's deciding what's trump these days. :sad2:

Dawn - where'd you go? I thought the computer issue was taken care of now. Maybe I read incorrectly - which is highly likely these days.

So hi.
