In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Sad all around.

Yes. Yes. & Yes. I was in shock!

Awww, congrats to Mr. University Acceptance Nephew. Have fun.

Liz - your day sounds amusing too. Like not controlling a party at your own house. Wowzers, I couldn't do it.

Kelly - I was laughing at your things you'd say to your younger self. You are hi lar ious.

We are going to a Home & Garden Show tonight. In Columbus. Big stuff compared to our little one. Professional production an all. Get some ideas.

Oh yeah.....

Younger self:

1) You are fine. You just don't know it.

2) Everything is going to be okay.

3) Think about hair colour. Once you start - eek that's it. Big flippin insane cycle.

4) Some boys are attracted but they can't because they are boys and boys need to be attracted to that girl. They need that girl. :lmao: But one day you'll realize it's not about you. It's about them. The need to like what everyone else likes.

5) Don't quit on so many things. Perserverence is everything.

6) You know what's best most of the time. You just don't trust yourself.

7) Picking a small university, despite acceptances from prestigious ones, is the best decision you'll ever make. It will guide you through life and be one of the most precious links to happiness. Really. Listen to me on that. Good for you. You knew somehow.

8) You can fall in love with the wrong person. Love doesn't have to always mean it's right.

9) You will never be the "right" weight. Give that up.

10) Fair thin freckled skin should never get in a tanning competition with friends.

11) Say what you need to say to people. You have no idea whose days are numbered. No idea.

12) And when technology comes - Don't judge internet boards. There can be truly wonderful experiences waiting for you.

Hi all! I'm home. Exhausted and chilled to the bone, but all in all not too bad of a day. We got everything done that needed to be done. Kids had a blast sledding all day. Went out to dinner and ate what I wanted as opposed to what I should.

LisaV--OMG, how I loved that last! Falling into bed now, so will be on tomorrow.

Lyz--experiment. I got it and replied.

WOW, I am waking up the thread again! Just like old times! :rotfl2:

I am sore from yesterday, but nothing too bad. Will get a run in today, but that is it for exercise.

Oh, and we are getting 10 -14" of snow tomorrow. Just shoot me.

Oh, and we are getting 10 -14" of snow tomorrow. Just shoot me.

A-MEN to that! We have a "little system" moving thru early today that is supposed to give us 1-3" of snow, then the "big storm" tonight/tomorrow that is expected to dump an additional 10-15". :headache:

My kids will be in school until the 4th of friggin' July! :sad1:

Had quite a day yesterday. Bascially a free-for-all

Worked 8:30-3:00. Got home, quick change, out the door to a 60th b-day party that had started at 1:00. Left there just after 5:30, and grabbed a healthy snack before heading out at 6:15 for the UConn Womens B-Ball game. Senior night. It was awesome. Home late, exhausted.

No exercise, no tracking, not enough water. But no alcohol  so at least I was on with one of my goals!

Slept in this a.m. so no time for exercise before church. I expect to be chained to my sewing machine for the rest of the day :scared:

LisaV. I loved your list. :lovestruc It was amazing.

Steph, where are you? Walking circles around the hospital???

/
Kelly, Lisa, loved your lists. :goodvibes

Lyz, you'd be sooo proud. I made my stuff, I stopped dictating - although there were some moments that were tense, but Nick just laughed at me instead of being too mad. And then I flitted around and talked to people I didn't know in my house, that always makes me uneasy. But I did well. And then i spent the rest of the time with Jackie, Jodi, and Nick's little 22 yr old cousin Greg, who's a firefighter from Philly and made the trip up for this. Have to have a pro firefighter at a chilli cook-off, right??? :rotfl:

He's moving out west to fight wildfires for the rest of his career. Leaves in April. This is a BIG deal bc getting into the city fire union and all is a big deal, so he could retire at like 40, but now he's basically giving up that firefighting career to do more dangerous work with less of a system. But he says, and I quote, that he feels at peace out there - that's his cathedral. Deep, right? His mom's the one who's a Catholic priest and got excommunicated this year. Gotta love my inlaws!

Anyhoo, I drank a bit too much. BUT I am channeling Erika and going to the gym to run in 10 minutes. Aren't you impressed?

As for food, i just crossed out all my weekly points and am going back on track for the rest of the week. I WILL lose this week. I feel all Eye of the Tiger about it.

(Another Philly connection - they filmed lots of the first one on Nick's grandma's street. That's his family's neighborhood. She hid inside, didn't want to be on film!)

Liz - How was the Chilli? I love a competition. Who won?

Nancy - you slept in and still made it to church? (That's not sleeping in.)

E - I saw the snow heading your way. Blech. Where are pictures of yesterdays entertainment?

Rodman is suspiciously abscent. He ususally spends weekends here. Actually there are alot of now shows for yesterday. What's going on. Do I stink?

Last night. H&G Show. It was not very attendee heavy. Where were the crowds? The economy that's where. Not good news for my show. We almost bought a swingset. Which I've been whining about getting for the girlys, and he was set to buy it, it was me. I chickened out. I'm going to regret it later. It was $500 off because of the show. Remember I did this last year with hog scales. I had the opportunity to buy a set, but they were $1,000! And we spent the summer hauling the extension offices home and it was a pain. Why oh why can't I be filthy rich so these things are a no brainer? This is me whining.

Today I had to go to church. First Sunday. I have nursery duty. Mad is sick. Throwing up. I called in. Now I need to get my house in order.

Sorry Mad is sick. And we are playing church-hooky, too. No pics from yesterday. It really was work. We didn't take a break. I didn't even bring the camera out of the car.

Liz--awesome about not controlling and having a good time...and tracking...and running! That is like, I don't know, several gold stars! :cool1:

Chili--mine is good. We had a chili cook-off at church a couple of years ago and I entered my vegetarian chili. There was no vegetarian category, mind you, so it had to compete with all of the meat chilis. And it took 4th place. I thought that was awesome considering. Lyz--if you actually want to recipe for a vegetarian chili, I will post it. It is all but fat free to boot!

Nancy--same weather. 1-3" dusting today followed by the big ol' whollop tonight and tomorrow. I am sure it will be a snow day. On the positive side, it will also be a snow day for me, since Monday is my day on campus.

Back to it.

Erika, If you don't post it here for Lyz, send a copy to Kat so she can give it to me. I've been in the hunt for a good vegetarian chili recipe myself. I've considered doing the experimentation to create my own but a) haven't had time and b) I'm afraid 2nd or 3rd time will not be a charm and I'll end up having to throw away a bunch of sucky chili. :rotfl:

My dad makes awesome chili and fish stew, but they're also awesomely full of fat and calories. Which, I'm sure has a little to do with them being so delicious. :lmao:

Muchisimas gracias, in advance! :thumbsup2

And then I flitted around and talked to people I didn't know in my house, that always makes me uneasy.

Yeah, that is weird. Ususally it's people I know, or WE know. But when those "unknowns" are here? It's definitely different.

But I did well. And then i spent the rest of the time with Jackie, Jodi, and Nick's little 22 yr old cousin Greg, who's a firefighter from Philly and made the trip up for this. Have to have a pro firefighter at a chilli cook-off, right??? :rotfl:

How is Jodi? :confused3 Everything progressing well?

Anyhoo, I drank a bit too much. BUT I am channeling Erika and going to the gym to run in 10 minutes. Aren't you impressed?

I am VERY impressed :thumbsup2

I did not drink. But I do have the hangover-style headache today. I think I'm suffering from a combination of high-sugar intake yesterday and mega PMS. :headache: And while you are channeling Erika, I think I'm getting vibes from some couch potato somewhere.

Nancy - you slept in and still made it to church? (That's not sleeping in.)

8:00. That is SO sleeping in for us. :cloud9:

Rodman is suspiciously abscent. He ususally spends weekends here. Actually there are alot of now shows for yesterday. What's going on. Do I stink?

Rodman :rotfl2: That confused me for a minute. Of course I'm thinking "Rodman? DENNIS Rodman?" and would we even care if Dennis Rodman were MIA? :confused3

We almost bought a swingset. Which I've been whining about getting for the girlys, and he was set to buy it, it was me. I chickened out. I'm going to regret it later. It was $500 off because of the show.

We took down our swingset several years ago when we put in the pool. Becca *still* misses her swing. She loves to swing. Even at 13. It's a pretty sore subject in this house.

um - if you are taking a survey, my vote is get the swingset.

I'm just so over snow right now.

All this chili talk has me in the mood for making it! I have to (unfortunately) make a grocery store trip this afternoon. I typically go on Sunday to get stocked up for school lunches for the week. Of course with the impending storm, the place will probably be a zoo. Yip-freakin' - eee.

Roddy and I might be facing some snow today... fingers crossed for it actually. I could use a work from home day tomorrow!!

I fell pretty hard off the wagon on Fri night. Was just OVER dieting. I was pretty good yesterday but today, well, not so much. I did skate last night (public skate) for 1.5 hours and had a hockey game this morning (at 9:30AM!!) so at least I got my exercise in...

Vegetarian chili... Recipe!!

Also, I have decided to go back to low calorie for March. Low carb is just too much for me. D is going to stay on, but I tried to do it to help him and by the end of the month was ready to chew nails.

Amy... I read something about Gatorade in the face?? Waiting for the report!!

Yeah, she's right. Though I'm not a huge snow fan, I could use a snow day tomorrow, too. Kat is more assured snow that I am, I think the rain/snow line is between us. Which means, lots of snow for Kat. Just a plain mess for me.

Hi Everyone,

Lyz - you do not stink. I just haven't been home long enough to actually type out a proper post this weekend.

Liz - sounds like the chili cookoff went well. And please, give us an update on Jodi.

Erika - glad that everything went well at camp yesterday. Sorry about the pending snowstorm.

Amy - thought of you this morning. Hope the race went well.

Nancy - sorry you aren't feeling well. Hopefully, the snow won't be so bad and the kiddies can't get to school.

Kat - way to get back on track and yeah for choosing the new diet plan. Hopefully, that will make things a little easier for you.

Sarah, Steph, LisaPR, LisaZ, Sunny, Stacey - hope all is well with you all. We miss you around here and really, Lyz does not stink...

Dawn - hope the trip was a good one.

Kelly - how is your weekend going?

Amiee - any news on the mechanic?

Rod - hope your weekend is going well. Enjoy the snow (what little you are supposed to get)

Yesterday was my second of three regional Odyssey tournaments. All went well and I am thankfully off judging duty for the next two weeks (whoo hoo!!!). Food wise, I have been way off this week and the scale is definitely showing it. If I can squeak through tomorrow's weigh in with only a two pound gain, I'll consider that a success. I am totally in full on TOM hell right now and food just can't seem to stay out of my mouth. Not bad foods, just way to freaking much of it. Today is a new day and I have said enough!!! Time to get back on track. So yes, I'll be tracking my food this week to get me back to being aware of what I am doing.

Celebrated my gram's 95th birthday today. It was fun, but difficult. Her mind is gone so it is really just watching a shell of the person you once knew. She was in good spirits today so that was cool.

I did go to my training session today and things are going well there. Still making progress and my body is changing (someone didn't recognize me yesterday so that was pretty cool). Just need to get the food part back under control.

Off to go clean my closet for a little while.

Talk to you all later,
Paula

Kat--sounds like a great decision for you. I approve! For a lot of reasons (which I can go into later), I am not a fan of low carb.

Time for family game night. :thumbsup2

Ok, race report time!:thumbsup2

The race went well. really well. Hydration/fuel were perfect this time round. I was totally on pace for about 12 minute miles through about mile 7. NO shin pain. THEN, the skies opened up. OMG.:scared1: We were facing about 20+ MPH crosswinds and headwinds and wind driven rain. :scared1: :scared1: The wind was never at our backs, even when we switched directions, which happened a few times. It was in the mid 60's to start the race, which was fine, but the rain was COLD. So, I fell off my pace at this point. I was having to work like twice as hard to keep my pace where I wanted to be and was literally blown sideways a few times. So I walked more at this point. I ended up finishing in about 2:50 ish, 13.35 miles. (according to garmin), no PR, but WAY better than disney and just a few minutes off my november half.

I was so grateful for the mylar blanket at the finish. I truly was chilled to the bone. You all are free to laugh at me, but I really was cold. It was about 50 degrees with cold rain at the end. I did enjoy the food from my fave Cuban restaurant. free beer truck was closed. I only wanted hot coffee anyhow. I was worried about the full people finishing in 4+hours because alot of the food people were closing up shop due to the downpours.

2 Complaints:

1. They ran out of 1/2 marathon medals. If you finished the 1/2 in more than 2 hours you didn't get one. Well, you got a fake one and they will send you the real one in a week or two. Apparently what happened was they registered too many people and also once the weather turned craptastic alot of the full marathoners turned off at the half marathon turnaround to the finish. I think those people should have gotten the fake medals. The bibs were different for the 1/2 and full so it would have been easy to separate them, Anyhow, no real biggie for me, but slightly disappointing. I just wanted to get warm at this point.

2. I did have gatorade thrown in my face. Not on purpose of course, but OMG. it was abut mile 3.5 and we were starting to run into the wind a bit and this guy just tosses his half full gatorade cup over his shoulder without looking. The wind blew it right into my eyes. which stung. Again, no big deal but look before you throw and throw low!!! And he saw what he had done and kind of just shrugged his shoulders. Whatever.

I took a super hot shower when I got home. No ice bath. My walk to my car in the freezing cold rain was enough for me. I feel really good right now. I have had a few beers and a glass of wine though! :drinking1 And a nap.

Delena and I did a stroller5K yesterday. A few pics and details on that later. We totally rocked it. So much fun!

Delena and I post 5K

my 5K medal. It's smaller, but really heavy.

We finished in about 44 minutes. I had high hopes for a sub 40 with the stroller, but it was so crowded. I think they should have given the walkers w/o strollers a 15 minute head start. Which would have left plenty of space for people who wanted to jog with strollers. I was cruising easily at a 10-11 minute/miles pace when I could find space to run. Anyhow, it was fun. I was going to let Delena walk/run/toddle the last half mile, but she fell asleep!
