In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

And I would love to see those pics Steph. That all sounds fun. Sorry that you have to work.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Can't believe I just said that - I don't think I've ever said that in my life. Ever. And I didn't even run to edit. Pretty good, eh cutie?

Life's a changin' - maybe hence all the emotional overeating. Lordy. Lordy.

HEY there
On a sad note my friends little girl Christina (the one I told you all about) she passed away on Monday. I am sad for the family but kinda relieved for them also. She has been sick so long and hasn't been outside of Children's hospital since September. The last time I think she was out is when they did their WISH trip to Disney. So keep her family Nicole, Bill & Connor in your prayers.
Ok off to see what the boys are up to! Download Pictures and Finish up my F A V O R I T E chore! :laundy:
Steph - sorry for you and your friends loss. Sad beyond any words.

I am glad you had a great trip.

You just posted about missing mocha when you were away and we will be missing Ace when we leave for sure. His possessed period only lasted 1 week (so far) and now really good. Will have to post pics - Mocha is a doll.

Dawn - sorry about the flu. That's a bummer. I rarely get sick (knock on wood :rolleyes1 ) but when I do, I am miserable.

Nancy - glad the city was good to you. Not sure fo me how much was the flu or this cyst crud - I still have fever of 101 but they hope that will head down also soon.
FUN OT COMMENT...

So I just started a new class this week, and one of my students works for DVC! She posted it in her intro. Of course I was all over that, told her that I am an owner, that I love it, etc. So now she starts all of her projects with, "Welcome Home, Doc...." HA! She is SO getting an A!
That makes you smile I bet. It a;ways makes me smile when in Florida so having a piece of DVC in class would be heaven.

My water intake has been inadequate. In talking with the trainer, I've realized that there are certain factors that effect me and I haven't properly been accounting for that. Her feeling is that I've quite likely been under-hydrating (not necessarily dehydrated per se...) and my body is holding onto all that it can because I don't give it enough! Hopefully now that I've "upped" the hydration, it will start to pay off. :upsidedow
My water has been low also - not tracking it - and I like you dividing up your points evenly - may try that.
I am here to report that, being mid-challenge, I did my calculations again. I am currently at -3 inches and -1.7% body fat. I also put in 25.45 miles over the week. I weighed and am down 2 pounds from the challenge start. So, I am on track to reach my goals and feeling good about that.
Lisa - You are great! Just an awesome thing to read!
Anyway, all home safe and sound and yeah, so much for my "relaxing" afternoon...:sad2:
I grew up on snowmobiles and my BF's neighbor owned a Kawasaki dealership so all safety taught and followed so we could test drive all new toys from 4 wheelers, sleds and jet skis.

Leo was fastidious about helmets, safety gear and following routes when alone.

2 years after graduation - he went out to his back yard to check some traps on his sled and never came back.

His son Bob, found him dead. He had not worn a helmet and when going downhill a piece of embankment gave way from the snow and he slid head first into a small tree. They say he was going less than 5 mph but hit his head just right and that was all it took.

It takes a lifetime to teach safety and a second to think he was fine in his backyard where he knew his land the best.

So lucky that those girls were found. They were smart to stay put. Tracks to follow and it is so easy to get lost when hypothermia sets in.

Erika, basically I just ramped up my core work and my miles. I also started consciously eating every 2 hours hungry or not and making better filling choices with what I am eating. I am being very careful with my post run snack that it is high density and high protein. A PB and banana wrap is working well for me currently.

I am only keeping track of my chest, waist and hip measurements currently and I lost 2 inches off my waist. This is definitely due to the core work and cutting the fat/calories in my diet. I may have found a balance that is working for me.
Just read that Toby McGuire lost all his weight for that movie he was in and played a jockey by doing just that - eating every 2-3 hours and spreading out his food with the right calories. The nutritionist was saying if you do not eat within 1 hour of getting up that your metabolism goes into starvation mode and there is no easy reverse for the day. Keep that up for a long timr and it will take a long toime for your body to think it can trust you to routinely give it food.
Challenge Results:

Exercise - 6 days out of 7
Tracking - 7 days out of 7
In-Laws Killed - 0 :rotfl2:

Thanls Kelly. Warn people would ya!
Laughing hurts and I just cried from laughing so hard. :scared1:

Also, do you know my husband gets 37 points a day? 37. 37. 37. Omg, I want to kill him. The most I got, at 237 mind you, was 29. He gets 37!!! I could go to town on 37! 37 is like a splurge day where I get drunk!
Dan gets 44. Believe me I want to smack him most days when he has 15 to go and is not sure what to eat. Poor baby.
And on points...I don't want to alarm my friends, but did you know that when you get past age 38 you drop down a point? Yes! So if you are in the 170's and you have 23 points, now you have 22! My friend just aged out, so she lost a point. So, Erika, you should have, I am sorry to say, 19 points at 135. But, you only get 18 now!!! Plus your 35. So you'd get max 23 if you spread your points out like Nancy does. So Nancy, your max is like what? 24? God, that's so unfair.

And that, my dear Lyz, is whining. Now let's see what you've got!
I will be 38 in the end of August. Need to take full advantage while I have that point.
Somebody mentioned Collard greens last week or sometime. We put vinegar on collard greens, mustard green, turnip greens, lima and butter beans, cole slaw, on rice, potato chips, in fish stew and use it to make pickles and pickled peppers. Most of the time, the vinegar we use on greens is what we call "pepper vinegar". How we make that is we take hot peppers like cayenne, cirano or jalapeno peppers and pack them in a jar and fill the jar with vinegar. Then we let that sit for a few weeks and the hot peppers are basically pickled and the vinegar becomes HOT. My dad also makes sauerkraut out of collard greens as well. Awesome stuff.
I love hot and love vinnegar so that sounds right up my ally. I had asked about the greens so thank you for a new recipie idea!
Took the words out of my mouth! Ditto on all that.

You leave on Tuesday for your trip, Dawn?

That is the plan. Tuesday night. Thanks for the well wishes you guys. I am off to lie back down. Pain meds make me nauseous and I hate throwing up.

Ah yes, sorry, I'm still getting use to everyone and I couldn't remember who had asked about the collards.

Hey, Liz. I have a question for you. "In a row?" :rotfl2:

GREAT reading! :rotfl2:

Percoset. One word. YUM! :rotfl2: OMG, LOVE it. A little too much, eh? Went for a run on percoset last summer (can't remember what was hurting me, nothing to do with running, though, so I ran. Natch.)--it was super trippy. Giggled the whole way.

Lisa--YES, I eat fries. Love fries. Ok, I don't really eat them often. If we are at a restaurant and the kids get some with their meal, I snack off their plate. I don't get my own because I would eat them all. ALL.

OMG, do you remember when Liz flipped out because Nick gets 37 points a day?!?! 37!!

Amy--if you are reading, I miss you already!

Steph--wicked cute pic of Mocha. Love choco labs. We had 2 before we had kids. Then we had kids. Didn't get another dog until just last year. We were dog-free for 7 years. But I love my little dog now.

GREAT job with all of the challenge stuff, everyone! I will get the new and improved chart up later tonight. Kids, bed, all of that you know.

Hey, Liz. I have a question for you. "In a row?" :rotfl2:

Oooh, good call! :thumbsup2 Nice Kevin Smith dialogue recall.

I'm super fond of "I hate everyone and every thing seems stupid to me." I say that when I'm having a bad day to my BFF. And we do a lot of "I don't know what the blank you just said little, man.."

OH! And all the time..."What the blank is the internet?" :lmao:

I live in Red Bank, NJ, where his comic book store is. My friends went to high school with him. He's one of our local celebrities, when he's in town.

Nick. Gets. 37. Points. Here I am, hungry and wanting more and he has like 15 points to kill and I have NONE. Makes me crazy. CRAZY.

Awesome, "I hate everyone and every thing seems stupid to me." is my favorite line, probably because I hate everyone and every thing seems stupid to me. That aside, I thought that was actually a very touching part of the movie, I think Jeff Anderson should've gotten an Emmy or Oscar for that. I think Randal is my favorite Kevin Smith character.

My brother is a huge Jay and Silent Bob fan and I get random text messages through out the day with lines from Kevin Smith's movies. Some of his favorites are "I don't appreciate your ruse, ma'am" and "Jay and Silent Bob are one note jokes that only stoners laugh at, they are blanking clown shoes, if they were real I'd beat the (blank) out of them for being so stupid". My brother is a cop so I generally reply back "What the blank, Serpico". :rotfl2:

I need a date. Just sayin'.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Can't believe I just said that - I don't think I've ever said that in my life. Ever. And I didn't even run to edit. Pretty good, eh cutie?

Lisa - I am so flippin proud of you for posting what you did. So proud!!! Now if you figure out how to get that date let me know - mkay??? :rotfl:

Evening Everybody!

Wow, you were busy today! So tired, but so thankful that tomorrow is Saturday.

Off to catch up.

And I lost this little ditty.

Will wonders never cease? Kat, you spent money on something you might only need 2 times a year? Glory be.

Good one Lyz!

It's totally ok, I have a big sister, so I'm used to it. She came over last night and took one look at me and proceeded to tell me how I made her sick and how I needed to gain some weight so that the sight of me didn't make her feel so fat. :rotfl2:

I make a decaf and regular because I read a theory that the decaf process removes some of the antioxidants from tea, but mainly because too much of the decaf gives me a huge headache. :thumbsup2

OMG, I am caffiene addicted too. Terrible headaches.

Yep. The amount of tea I can drink in a day is obscene. I have 2 cups before I go to work, 2-3 cups at work, and a cup before I go to bed. This is just a regular day - I can drink a lot more tea than that! When I get home from work I have a coffee (you know, for a change :rotfl: )

:lmao:

Love it. Do you stick with one kind or change it up? I always feel more civilized when I drink hot tea.

Wow! I come home from PT and have 3 pages to read! LOVE IT!

AMIEE: Here is the link for C25k. You know, I really wish it was one of those "affiliate" sites, where I got money for each time I gave someone the link and they clicked on it? That would ROCK!

LIZ/NANC
Y--HA! WW is sexist! Now I can boycott them! :lmao: Have I mentioned that I LOVE boycotting stuff? Like, I am always looking for reasons to boycott places!

LYZ--ok, shin splints. You will look like dork doing this, so don't let Mol see you or she will disown you. First do a short warm-up (biking is best if you can)--just like 5-10 minutes. Hop off the bike and walk around the room on your heels, with your toes pointed up. This will make you lock your knees. Yeah, it looks as weird as it sounds. Then do your walk/run on the TM. When you are done, do that walk again. This is really the only way to stretch your shins. At first it may feel like you are actually working your calves (and you are to a degree) but give it a minute and you will feel it in your shins. Just remember, never stretch a cold muscle! Always warm up first, then stretch. Then stretch again at the end of your work-out. And Nancy is right--ibuprofen and ice to deal with the pain and inflammation.

And YES! Snowmobiles are SLEDS. After reading Lisa's post I was thinking, "Hmmm...I wonder if I should post so that people don't think Shelby was out there on Rosebud!" :rotfl2: Looks like I should have!

Thanks for the link E!

I also avoid/boycott my absolute favourite breakfast place because the manager was an a$$ one day a couple of years back. Jean had burnt toast. I couldn't find the waitress for eons. Things were getting cold. I got up and asked the manager, who usually constantly strives to help tables and customers, if he could get one that wasn't for us. He was bothered that I got up and asked him. And told us that I was rude in tone (which is something I actually wish for :rotfl: :lmao:;) since I'm usually too nice) and that is wasn't burnt. That's just the toaster.

And then told us that if we didn't like the next one coming out we'd pay for the extra order of toast.

Needless to say I told him I was disappointed, was a regular and wouldn't be back in. I haven't. And it's a loss. Yummy breakfast.

Oh boycotting. How my stomach yearns. :rotfl:

What a prick! I think I would have been compelled to speak a little louder so others could hear our conversation.

WHAT????

WTH? Who makes that cutie? You? Some chain?

Bacon? :lmao:

OMG Lisa! They are divine. Steakhouses around here carry them ~ specifically Lonestar and I think Outback does too. Big, thick, fried, bad for your arteries steak fries no less.

Here, if you're in a restaurant, and you order tea to drink, you specify "sweet or unsweetened". And I'm not saying it's a mandate to vinegar your fries, but most restaurants you go to have vinegar either in bottles on the table or in little packets. I mean, our BBQ sauces are vinegar based.

And Liz, I can NOT believe you brought up Clerks "37" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Everyone pay homage to Liz :worship: :lmao:

Yes, we specify here too. Vineager, greens, yum!

It's just like potato skins. Potato/fries, cheese, bacon/bacon bits, dipped in your choice of ranch or sour cream, ranch being the bomb.

I supposed I've made it. Definately an appetizer in Ohio.

Ok, but, it's not necessarily a good story.

Well, it all started in 1999. We were starting our construction company and we went to Best Buy (in Reynoldsburg Ohio) to get a computer. (Cause I live in Po Dunk and we don't have anything fancier than a Kohls. We don't even have a Target.)

My husbands grandma, (who is like my right arm - she comes on trips with us, she works in my office for me when I'm swamped, loves my children and me like her own, we are tight. She's 76. Love her.) Janet had just retired and she wanted a computer too. So I was buying 2 computers. No small beans back in 1999.

Our salesBOY "Art" (said with a snear) could care less if we even wanted to buy a floppy disk. He just wanted to Yuk it up with the other salesboys (again, said with a snear). We had multiple issues. One of which was the free scanner you got with an IBM was out of stock. Fine. Give us the next one UP. We went round and round and round. My bff Katrina (with me at the store), who is not scared of anything laid him flat on the ground. Cause as you all know, I don't enjoy conflict. We must have been there for 3 hours. It was misery. And I was spending like $3600.00!!!

After that, I was Best Buy Jaded.

Fast forward to 2001? I got my little Diva in Training a Kerokie machine for Christmas at BB. It was the big mam-a jamma. TV included. She loved it.

It stopped working the next November. Bah, but, it was still under warranty, so I took it to the Best Buy in Lancaster Ohio where I got it. They shipped it back to be fixed. Couple weeks go by and the machine is dead. They tell me I can get another one. I pick out a new machine online and head all the way to Lancaster to purchase it. Well, guess what, they didn't have the one I wanted. They had "lesser" machines. The sales lady did a store search for the one I wanted and it was north of Columbus at Polaris.

That weekend we treck up to Polaris. (Rember I don't like riding in cars for extended periods.) Busy, cold, Christmas shopping season. Get my machine and hop in line with my paperwork. They wouldn't give me that machine. Said they'd have to transfer it to Lancaster, where I could get it then. I was so ticked. I have worked in Corporate Office Retail. It's a matter of numbers. Take it out of Lancaster numbers and put it in Polaris accounts. They would not budge. We leave empty handed and pissed off.

The next Saturday, we go to Lancaster Ohio, to pick up the machine and that was the last time I ever spent money at BB.

Oh I am mad for you! I would have been furious too. Boycott, I say, boycott.

Yeah they do it here to. Stephens family puts it on spinach! YUCK! They will eat anything that has been soaked in vinegar, eggs, sausage, veggies.I have one in the fridge right now with some hot pepper in it it looks like a BOMB and then there is an onion and peppers and carrots. YUCK!!!

Oh have to post a picture of Mocha on Valentines day
CIMG2737.jpg

Isn't she so CUTE??? Grandma bought her her scarf!

Your hubby and his family can have those nasty eggs, gross:scared: Mocha is just adorable!

I have been gone all day.

I feel like a steaming pile of doggy doo.

I haven't read the thread.

I'm going to bed.

Oy. For real. I'm getting a nasty head cold. Why oh why did I jinx myself. Wasn't it just yesterday I said "I rarely get sick"? :confused3 And I even "knocked wood". NOT supposed to happen.

Food for today

Points: 28

water: all of it.

exercise: 60 minutes strength/cardio combo. Don't know the running total. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Exactly when do dogs start sleeping through the night? Or babies? Carsyn has a "real doll" home for the weekend for a life skills class and Lyz, any remaining thoughts on a baby, died.

But on yahoo's main page I caught a piece of info on a cave home for sale.

Know that there are some construction people out there and this place looked amazing. I could not link the video from Yahoo but linked the photo album they have. $300,000 is the asking price. I would move there in a heart beat.

http://www.caveland.us/

Land has streams and waterfalls. No heating or cooling bills. Huge open spaces and you live in a cave. How cool is that?

Good Job Nancy and I am so sorry you are getting the crud.

Good Morning Everyone

Steph - I forgot to say, so sorry for your friends
Love the doggie pictures, very cute!

Nancy - Sorry you are getting ill

Dawn - Urgh, I hope you feel better soon

I have woke up this morning with the same stinking headache I went to bed with last night  And to top it all off, im at work now :headache:

Hope everyone has a great day :)

Good Morning. Been a little off track for about a week. My daughter works at Walmart's home office and things have been a little stressful with all of the lay offs. She didn't lose her job, but the tension is getting to her and she is getting to me. I've didn't track last week and gained .4 pounds this week.

But on a positive note, I didn't talk myself out of going to WW. I almost didn't go because I knew I had gained, but I went.

So for the challenge:
WW yes
Track not so much
Water most of it

I have been reading, and it really helps.
