In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Well guys the concert was great!
Thanks for all your kind words - the scariest thing about that night is that whilst I had my brothers and great friends with me, there were girls there who were out in groups and their friends didn't realise they had wondered off on their own - that scares the heck out of me because anything could have happened.
I now drink from bottles, which I insist are opened in front of me (which gets me some funny looks but I dont care), never put my drink down, keep my thumb over the top of the bottle. Paranoid, maybe. I would rather be a little paranoid and have a good night than end up in hospital and vomiting and shaking for 3 days!

NOt paranoid. Look what you went through - just covering your bases because of your experience. Once again, my God that must have been scary.

Good morning everyone!

Kelly, that is funny, I use exercise to "sweat" out the alcohol too. It also fixes my head because unlike some people, I do get hangovers. Not many because I don't drink much but, anyway. I am glad the concert went well and you did not have anything awful happen. I do the same thing with my beer, open in front of me, in my possession all the time, etcetera. :goodvibes

LisaV, most awesome pictures! How I long for sunny warmth. And you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. You have fabulous legs and you look fantastic in your suit. Even though you tried the minipic of it, I think you look great!!! :thumbsup2 Glad you had a great time on the beach AND with your mom. My Nana was too funny when she started going downhill. She would just say anything to anyone. :rolleyes1

Kat, sorry you had some bad mojo going on. I would have sent  had I known. So, here are some a little late :hug::hug: I hope everything is okay now.

Breakfast go to food (sorry I missed this) is oatmeal with bee pollen, flax seed, wheat germ, protein powder and whatever fruit I have at the time. My second favorite, toast 2 pieces of WW bread, cook 1 egg, and make a sandwich out of low-fat cheese, ham and the egg.

Thanks for all the kind words about my run. Yes running is mental. Running distance is more mental. Mike thinks I'm mental :lmao:. I am beginning to think I am mental too :upsidedow. After this full I can honestly say that I have no interest in training like this again. It takes a lot of time and it is boring. At least when you are racing, there are other people, different sites and things to see. These long runs alone are just flat out B-O-R-I-N-G. I am going to split this weekends 18 miles into 10 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday and see if that works better. Something has to work better. :sad2:

I finished out my miles yesterday with 3 strong ones. I averaged a 10:02 on tired legs which is great for me. I have slowed down so much with the longer distance that a PR in VAB is looking like a long way away. I was hoping to be under 2 hours there, I guess time will tell that too. Today is girls to the gym (minus one due to teenage girl in-fighting) and 4 miles with hill repeats. I save those for my driveway at home where no one can see me but the cows! Tomorrow is 9 miles, groceries, laundry and general house junk. So I will see you all on Thursday.

Oh and Nancy, I know you are biased but how good is goats milk moisturizer? My skin is dry, dry, dry right now and I need some help. Anyone else have a favorite moisturizer?

Lisa - thanks for our kind words.

Two things - I find ground flaxseed works wonders. Swallowed I mean. :rotfl:

And I use Emu oil when I can afford it.

I'm still lurking away. My laptop from home was taken away by FedEx to be repaired who knows where. Hopefully I will have it back in a couple of weeks. I can't get to my at home email from work, so I created this new log on until I can get back up at home.

I didn't do so well at WW last week, I was up 1.4. (TOM) So this week will be much better.

Lisa, I love the pictures of your vacation! The during and after shots give me lots of hope that I will make it to during and after.

Have a Great Day!
Sunny

Sunny!!!:love: There you are. Sorry for the frustration.

OMG lisa you look great don't be ashamed of your body is perfect! I love the bathing suit From what I could see of it (to tiny of a Picture) You carried the 260 well! Love the RED hair! I know the feel about being from a red head my grandma was one of 7 sisters which all had red hair! They were famous back in my hometown They were know as the "O'neil girls" All girls not one boy in the family.... NONE of my dads brothers or sisters have red hair either, my grandfather had dark hair. My aunt mary and I dye ours a dark red but naturally we all have dark hair except my aunt diane who has blonde???

OMG that was horrible!

It was quite warm up here last weekend but it has gotten quite cold again infact the river which had thawed has a skimming of ice on it this morning!
Don't feel bad about the angry music .... last week all I listen to was G N'R and metallica all angry songs and I had just woken up nasty and the mood lasted 2 days so I walked around for two days with the ipod on just blaring ANGRY EYES MUSIC! ( speaking of angry eyes have you seen the commercial with mr & Mrs potato head in it and he is driving so fast and she looses her lips and she whips out her angry eyes? FUNNY!)

Two weeks ago I brought my daughter and her friend shopping and the friend walk around all night with the english /scottish accent and let me tell you we got some heads turned because she was quite loud! I couldn't help but laugh because it was so funny! And she kept it up for over an hour!
As for the mexican gangs... we had a group of kids the dresses as a mexican gang for halloween in school and that is how they all talked!

KAt so glad to hear that your FIL made it through. I will keep you guys in my thoughts as he recovers

Such a neat story about the red hair. So fascinating, eh? My mom's parents were not red and had two.

O I did NOT make it to WW last night weigh in starts at 515 and kids had to be at the rink for 530. So I felt I didn't have the time to drive 10 minutes NORTH and then drive 30 minutes south and be there when we were supposed to.
LYZ you know how I say I spend a lot of time in the car well just got my car on Friday and As of last night I had 250 miles on it already! It had 40 when I got it!

Fantastic Steph!!!:thumbsup2

LisaV ~ Love your Vero Pics. As far as my family goes, we are taking baby steps. I have been chatting back and forth with my aunt and my cousin. She and I are only 6 months apart, so for the first 8 years of my life, we were like sisters. I can't explain the void I went through. It's in the past and her dad is no longer stirring up crap or able to control either of them. In a nutshell, we are all healing.

LisaZ ~ Charlaine Harris counts! She was my 3rd vamp author to read. I love her writing style.

Everybody else HELLO!

My computer died on me this morning. Completely dead, must use restore discs dead. Aghh! I have no cookies anymore and my computer is now running super fast (like a brand new laptop fast). There are so many things for me to comment on, and I will tonight. I could barely respond to emails last night, but IM worked. Go figure!

Have a good day!

:hug:to you. That's lovely that you're both pushing through. Nice. FB has put me back in touch with cousins who were once the be all and end all for me too. It's like I remember walking to the marina and counting my Charlie's Angels cards. Life is something.

Here is my running playlist (just in case anyone was interested):
I can only imagine
Where have all the cowboys gone
Stronger
In the Ayer
Right Round
Love lockdown
Lolli Lolli
Goodbye to you
Cowboys
8 mile
Goody two shoes
Bad girlfriend
Naughty naughty
The Final Countdown
Girls just want to have fun
If I could have you back
Fat bottomed girls
Sober
Hungry like the wolf
Girl on the verge
You give love a bad name
Livin on a prayer

I run for life
Just dance

Purple rain (only so I know I am at the end....finally)

Sorry for the long boring post.

E-:wizard:

Not boring. popcorn:: We are so the same age.

I do this too!! I think it really helps to sweat it out, actually.

Thanks for all of the hugs and good thoughts. I am back at work today and have yet to hear anything, which is probably good news.

Good news Kat.

Oh you will not get a hangover at all if you drink water in equal amounts. Just sayin'. Erika, no hangover - no sleep, almost makes me want to give up goat and beef and rainbow trout?!??!?!?? Say it ain't so. :rotfl::lmao:

I've read nothing except for LisaV! Your pictures. WOW!WOW!WOW! You look so freaking great!!!

Ok, back to trying to catch up, and work on the H&G Show! I'm losing it here. I'll be hit and miss for the next 2 weeks. Don't talk too much.

Thanks cutie. You're killing me you know. I miss you so much. Give me the ins and outs of it all. I know a little bit about this show but not everything you're doing.

Yes, yes. Was (is) that today? Why does Tuesday stick in my head??? Please Dawn let us know how she makes out!!!

:thumbsup2

I don't think you look 210 either. You must have some pretty dense bones there sister

LOVE the trip report. and the pictures. AND the green hair . All those "Mom" stories are making me teary. Love 'em

:rotfl2:

You know how easily confused I am. My brain would freak. I'd probably be sent into seizures or something. :scared:

 yep. I've done that before. Ah the smell of tequila sweat ;) Have a good workout. :upsidedow

Depends on the product! The soap I make has all the natural glycerin in it, so it is VERY moisturizing. Commercial products may contain the goat milk, but if they are putting a bunch of chemicals in as well, it's not necessarily going to be "awesome". My absolute favorite stuff for hands is the Hemp Hand Protector by The Body Shop. My hands are so abused. Between all the scalding hot soapy water at work, and the beating they take in the barn - my skin gets wrecked. This stuff is amazing. Couldn't live without it.

Sunny - great to hear from you. Hope you get your computer back soon!

Playlist. I'm gonna have to figure out how to share mine. Talk about an eclectic mix of music

Oh so many funny lines here. :rotfl: The Asian West Indian line just killed me. And yes dense bones. I'm so thick. I know I'm a straight narrow ruler but I'll turn to the side one day so you can see thick, thick and cousin thick. I joke well I guess osteoporosis is out. :rotfl2: I shouldn't joke about it. It sucks.

Oh that reminds me. Ursula Andress is here talking about osteo......

And it reminded me once again how much genes play a part. She said back in the day she used to be asked what kind of gymnast she was and she never worked out. At all. And there was this student of mine way back the laziest girl on the planet with legs of steel. For no apparent reason. :lmao:

Do you seriously not know how to copy/paste?

:rotfl:

Steph - congrats on the loss. That is awesome news!!!!

Loving reading everyone's playlists. Keep them coming!

Later,
Paula

LisaV - I so want to go to the beach after seeing all of your pics. Thanks for sharing them.

Me too Paula. Me too.

shut up. I hate you. :lmao:

YES, I know how to copy/paste. But I'm totally anal. And I like lists to look like lists. And not all wonky. I use Rhapsody for my music and my play lists are in spreadsheet style charts. And when I copied them to put into a word document the formating is just chaotic.

I WAS relaxed Erika. Until Roddy got all up in my grill about copying and pasting ;)

Well Par-don. Geez, all this Amish talk I thought maybe you didn't know how to copy/paste and I was going to try to help. :sad2:

Paste into an Excel spreadsheet. It might help with the formatting.

ok smarty pants. I'll try that.

We too are the same age.

Nancy - there is some good stuff on that playlist. I am beginning to think we share a gene pool somewhere along the way. Love that you have the B52's, Violent Femmes and Green Day yet also show some love to Paul Simon, Norah Jones and the rest. Love it.

Now I need to go home and revamp my playlist thanks to all of these new ideas. I'll post the new list when it is ready.

Paula

I so loved Violent Femmes in university. I have them on my MP3.

LisaV - yes it is emotional eating

I'm so annoyed at myself, i'm acting like a 15 year old. Bruce and I were bickering on and off all weekend, nothing severe, just annoying, but then he went back to evenings and i haven't seen him since and i'm upset we spent our only weekend for the next month together bickering. Work is a cesspool right now, i swear every day it is like walking into a high school cafeteria and i'm so sick of it. Just a bad day all around, i hadn't slept well, couldn't get up this AM to go to the gym, felt guilty. Put all in a pot and stir and you have me eating like it's going out of style. I managed to stop the bloodbath a few hours ago. lucky for me (not not b/c i'm sure it didn't help) i didn't really eat much for breakfast or lunch so i only went over my WW points by 5. Still really upset and just want to cow down on anything i see, so i'm afraid tomorrow will be bad too.

Off to do my research paper..... yet ANOTHER joy bubbling in my conciousness right now.

Hope everyone has a good night, i don't mean to be negative farmer! Hopefully i wake up on the right side of the bed tomorrow.

Oh Stacey. When I'm there it doesn't seem like there's a window to jump through. I honestly think the key is to have the feelings. And to be consistent with something. Ie.. My eating was off the rails but I still exercised.

You're just venting Stacey. Not being negative.

But really treat it as not important. As in you saw it. You named it. You owned it. You stopped it. And it was just a short period of time on a journey. A mere blip. But I understand how hard it is.

:love:to you Stacey.

Closing date?

And I adore the work cesspool. :lmao: We used to call my Board of Ed "the cesspool of sin". :lmao:

Forgive me. I'm working on very little brain power. The boards are different and I'm just figuring it out! You all have probably talked about it. lol.

Anyway, I was marking all my friends. Done. THEN, it says, all my requests were sent. So...I asked you all to be my friends. Even though I assume that is already the case.

I have noticed that the google ads are completely different. Lower quality. Strange thing to recognize, but :confused3

I friended back.

People!!!

I need honeymoon perspectives on your choices then and how you look back on them. Even if you hated the choice of who you spent it with. ;) Just kidding. Amiee - I personally exempt you from this. Just thinking about him makes me mad. Unless you want to chime in of course.

Erika probably went white river rafting or something.

My little niece bride is going to have some kind of breakdown without guidance with resorts and ways of choosing/any regrets. And she's so not me. She's totally calm. :rotfl2:

Erika - will do. Intervals.

Erika - Dad now?

Erika - do you like your name in threes?

I so have to go to bed.

Oh Kelly - I had a Mars bar today simply in homage to The Commonwealth. :lmao: Good reason, eh?

:rotfl2: Lisa!

Ok, one thing at a time. Honeymoon. Well, we had a choice. My mom and dad wanted to give us our honeymoon as our wedding gift. So we had plans to go to Paradise Cay in the Bahamas (so I SCUBA dive my brains out! :rotfl2:). But, 2 weeks after the wedding we were moving into our house that we were building. So my parents offered to buy us living room furniture and gave us the choice.

We went with the living room furniture. So we just did a quick 4-day honeymoon to Stowe, VT. And remember that we got married in March. So there was snow and it was cold. But while we didn't go whitewater rafting, we did ski and skate and snowshoe! :lmao: And our suite had a working fireplace and a HUGE jacuzzi. So it was good. And I don't regret having made the decision. We were broke and I wanted new furniture for the house and it would have been ages before we could have afforded it. And I knew that we would have plenty of vacations in the years ahead....and we have.

Thanks for asking about my dad. He is doing SO well, thanks. He has minimal pain and is in great spirits. Frustrated to be away from work, especially now. As a minister, this is his "busy season," and all. And it is killing him not to be a part of things. But other than that, he is great.

I have no time for one thing at a time. :lmao:

She wants it booked like yesterday. Oh brides - how I can't relate!!!:lmao:

So great about your dad. Hopefully, he gets back to work soon.

See I was close. White river rafting - just a few states to the south. :lovestruc It's only about the geography for you.

Ski, Skate and snowshoe on your honeymoon - are they code for something????:rotfl::lmao::rotfl: ;) You know I'm out of the loop. :lmao:;)

Oh Erika - you are something. :lovestruc

OMG - Did you actually answer all my questions?!?!? Let me think of more.:dance3: Did you ski with the Von Trapps?

I'm so delirious. My family wants Vero pics on FB and it almost did me under. Oh FB - how I hate your guts.

Good morning everyone!

Since I didn't work out much today, I kept my calories low, at about 1100.

Don't hate me. But have you tried feeding your body more? 1100. That just does not seem right. My target range for weight loss is 1600-1700. And while I'm slightly taller than you, I don't work out any harder.

LisaV & Nancy--ok, since you are both interval queens, I would LOVE it if you would post your workouts. I know it will take time, so just when you have a chance. I need to shake it up and am uninspired.

Will do. :thumbsup2

And as challenge czar - I say do whatever works for you!

Forgive me. I'm working on very little brain power. The boards are different and I'm just figuring it out! You all have probably talked about it. lol.

wait. something has changed? :confused3

Anyway, I was marking all my friends. Done. THEN, it says, all my requests were sent. So...I asked you all to be my friends. Even though I assume that is already the case.

oy. Confuse me why don't they ;)

How long have you two been married? :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

:rotfl2:

/
Morning! Kids are off to school, my house is clean, and it is going to hit 50 today. So far, so good! :rotfl2:

So today is the day--my long overdue appointment. And guess what? TOM came last night! See? Fate. :lmao:

Lyz--pedicure. I'll need a report. I am getting mine tomorrow after I send J on his way. Tell me what color you get and maybe we can virtually match. :rotfl2:

Nancy--calories. Well, I just plain ol' don't know anymore. I have basically been this weight for 9 months. I lost a lot at the beginning of last year, hit where I am now, and for the most part have stayed right here. Sure, I gained over my vacation and holidays, but then took it off and am back to the same place. And in that time, I feel like I have tried different ways. I know that when I ate more, I gained. That was fun.

Do you remember last year when I went to the nutritionist/trainer? This is the guy who owns my gym. And he used to be a trainer for the Olympic team, and he has won several body building competitions. Master's degree to boot. Very experienced and knowledgeable. He calculated my RMR (Note: he used the special, fancy, expensive machine--hooked me up to it and all of that, got my number. Then I came home and used one of the online calculators and the numbers were within 20 points). Anyway, his info. and the online info. have me between 1300-1500 daily. And that is almost always what I eat. I am rarely at the 1200 level. And yesterday was an anomaly. 1100 is definitely on the low side for me.

So, here is the breakdown: at 1700 I gained. At 1300-1500 I maintain. So the logical thing says to go below 1200. But I just don't think that is (1) healthy or (2) sustainable for me.

So here is my plan and everyone feel free to critique the hell out of it, because I am out of ideas:

--Stay in the same calorie range but drastically increase my protein. I have the whey powder and using that I can increase my protein by 52g per day which will get me to 80-120g/day. (Make substitutions like instead of a Fiber One bar, have a 100-cal protein drink. I don't have Fiber One bars often, but just as an idea of how I plan to make the change.)

--Change my workouts to be more interval-heavy and less cardio-focused

--Focus my workouts on more weight lifting as opposed to resistance.

Good monring!!!

Erika - I have no problems with moving the challenge reporting to Mondays. Mine will be posted after I weigh in that night so it may be later in the day. Hope that is all right with the challenge czar?

Good luck at the appointment today. I don't have many words of advice on your new plan other than to say that things really started moving for me when I added the weight training in. I still do my cardio, but I remember reading / hearing that there is more bang for the buck in weight training than straight cardio. Good luck and let me know if you want me to bounce anything off of Jesse (of course last night I was ready to hurl the 15 pound medicine ball at him - that thing is pure evil).

LisaV - sadly I can't help you with the honeymoon planning. I would say that it should be a place that has activities / ammenities that appeal to what they like to do. I am all about meaningful experiences over spending for stuff you don't care about. Again, haven't been a bride so I can't speak from experience.

Lyz - please let us know how the pedicure went...

I'll post more later, but I have to get ready for a meeting now.

Catch you all later,
Paula

PS - I am still tired from yesterday's workout and noticed that I was snacking mindlessly last night... :confused3 Today is a new day so it is time to start over (right Stacey)

pushups till failure. :scared:

I had to laugh tonight at dinner. My boys started Track practice yesterday, and the "field" guys had to do "200" push ups yesterday.(I'm sure it was a lot. But 200? I'm betting he miscounted) Today was "leg work" . After we ate dinner, Stephen told Seth it was his turn to do dishes tonight. The look on Seth's face was priceless. He started whining about not being able to stand 'cause his legs hurt. No sympathy from me  I told him to take some advil and suck it up. Nice mom, huh :rolleyes1

Food for today: 28 points
water: check. Lots and lots
alcohol: none
exercise: 60 minutes strength training, 30 min bike/stretch
I tell my kids to suck it up all the time, I tell the boys suck it up be a man!

Stacey don't feel bad by going over your points one night last week I went over my points so much I was in a MINUS for BONUS points! Yes That's right FOLK I HAD MINUS 5 FOR BONUS POINTS and that was even with my 7 extra exercise points! BUT I STILL LOST! And you will too!

Oh, challenge stuff. I didn't post a first week chart because I got confused as to what we are considering the last day of the week. Some are going with Friday, others through the week-end, etc. I know this will mean a bit of a change, but we can have Monday be our posting day? So that our weeks run from Mon - Sun and we weigh in/check in on Monday? I know this will work well for Paula and Liz. But please feel free to chime in. It doesn't mean that you have to weigh in on Monday. By all means, keep your own schedules. It just means that you REPORT on Monday. What do you think?
Sounds good to me! I weigh in on Mondays!

Ok I am off to clean house and bring Zac a snack he is doing the terra nova test and they need a snack. I forgot to pack it this morning! 4 MORE DAYS TILL KIDS SHOW H E L L week will be over! :woohoo: I get out of it now since I have to work every night ! Tensions are running HIGH costumes are getting slowly done some are still to big some to small. Tonight is pictures so the majority of them need to be done finished by 6 pm tonight! A few years back there never was an issue of the BOYS changing in the locker rooms with the girls then some mother complained that there was a 4 year old little boy in the locker room while her 4 year old little girl was getting dress so that ended the co-ed dressing rooms, so now all the boys I think there are 10 boys (1 man) ranging in ages from 4 - 40 that change in this room made for 1 person! I told my mother this year the boys will NOT GET DRESSED IN THERE! There is NO control in there and I can't go in while the OLDER boys are getting dress so NOPE THEY WON"T BE GETTING DRESSED IN THERE! Last year one of the kids jumped in the shower while getting dressed and was soaked(not mine.... thank God! SO NOPE NOT GOING TO DO IT THIS YEAR. Last night the kids were supposed to be trying on their stuff boys were supposed to have the stalls in the locker room I went to go in there and all the girls had them so I went to the shower room and girls there and I got yelled at... so as I said stress levels are high so I yelled back.... Have I mentioned I hate this week!

Morning.

I am up to my eye balls in house remodeling that is not going as smooth as I hoped. Nothing huge but a tighter timeline than I was told and that meant neding to get measurements etc. faster than I planned. I have never remofdeled or built anything and there is so much to choose. Not my fortay at all.

Let you know more later but if me going to the hospital for Carsyn's surgery yesterday morning and finding out they moved it to next Tuesday gives you any indications of the fun filled week - you can laugh with me! What are you going to do. :confused3:rotfl2:

Student aid reports filled out and loads of other important stuff done. Feel good about all the accomplishments but need to get my butt here as well because I need the accountability.

Be back this afternoon/early evening.

Hope life is well with you all!

Ok, here goes...

Lisa V - loving the TR. Keep it going.

Nancy and Lisa PR - love the playlists. I prefer playlists to be eclectic. I really wonder about people that only like one kind of music. But then, I also judge people by what they read, so maybe I'm just a book/music snob! :rotfl: Lisa, 8 mile is for sure the song to run to - Nancy - love that you added your goat and wine song! :goodvibes

Steph and Lyz - adore your store which must not be named references. You both get a big hug for being funny about it. :goodvibes

Stacey - I had the same weekend. The point is it ended, you ended the binge. I've been doing this for 17 months, but what is that time in a lifetime of food as comfort? Nada. So be gentle with yourself. And complain, but don't apologize for it. Okay? :thumbsup2

Also, what the heck is a negative farmer??? That's one I've never heard!

Monday is the IDEAL tracking day! Woot!

Okay, Erika. Here's my opinion on your calories. I think that if your goal is to lose the last bit of weight, you need to go to down to 1200 calories. Then, you can maintain at 1300-1500 if that works for you. Which, BTW, is EXACTLY what you'd be eating on WW points. 1200 for weight loss and 1300-1500 to maintain. You already know this works for you. What's the hesitation? The calorie cut is only temporary. When you get to a lower weight, you have to do things to drop it. It's not lifestyle at this point, it's a dip, really, to drop a small bit of weight.

My daily goal is 1200 right now. I have the extra, so I can go higher based on exercise, etc, but the daily must get in is 1200. And I weigh probably 30 lbs more than you.

Just my opinion. I"m not a certified anything, but this is based on simple math and the most basic information I know from reading about weight loss and the studies out there. Take it or leave it, but you know I'm not bsing you. :goodvibes

Good Morning!

Switching from being a low carb czar to low cal freak is weighing on me. I am so freaked out about going over the top on calories that I end up coming in way under and I know that's bad. All is going well in the tracking department. It helps me have more structure and control. Also, I enjoy knowing if I can have an extra snack if I want.

Have a great day everybody!

E, I am totally with Liz.

Sorry, quick drive-by but I am a bit swamped trying to catch up at work...

Thanks, Liz. I know, no BS. And it IS a good reminder that going that low is not forever. Just for a few weeks to get the last few pounds off. I just keep thinking cruise....cruise....cruise. Do I really want to hate my cruise pics? NO.

Off to run. It is sunny and warm (for Maine), so I am really looking forward to this run!

Erika, I have a question for you. What is your favorite kind of beans? I love beans and not just because they're the musical fruit. So, I was wondering which bean was your favorite.

Of course, anyone else that wants to tell me their favorite bean, feel totally free!
