In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Morning! I have to figure out my schedule now that the kids are gone during the day. I originally thought that I would head to the gym right from the bus stop, but that is too early for me to work out. So I come back home and then I just get stuck here, you know? Work, cleaning, DIS....and then it is hard to just drop all of that in the middle and head to the gym.

So, I am heading out now and then I should have the rest of the day for everything else. We'll see....

Morning all...

Kids are off to school...all 3 of them...made them stand for a school -icture...Treyner's last year...he started to balk until I said if he did not smile...I was going to come to his dorm room next year for a pic of the first day of college! :teeth:

I am back to counting points and will start a walking regement today...the last few weeks were crazy by my choice and I need to settle down and take long hard looks at food choices...

Weighing in at WW sometime today...

Have Treyner's Sr pic ordering today finally....avoid avoid avoid..

I also am back to clocking in many more work hours...which means only dissing after I earn the time here...when self-employyed must be hard on oneself....

Treyner said he had a talk with his coach...pointed out the fact that kids who missed 5-10 practices were benched 1 game and how is that fair to bench him when he missed 1 practice...the kids who had missed a lot...including the captains...stuck up for him...in fact they said...this is a varsity sport..punish kids in practice...punish them in other ways...but a whole game for missing a practice on a national holiday when you are physically out of town is a bit ridiculous...I think the coach though was in a place where he had established a punishment and changing it would have him loose face and authority...

I will not talk to the coach about this...this is a place where Treyner needs to get some practice standing up for himself and navigating adult waters...

Erika - Treyner's schedule shows a study hall for each semester...he had signed up for 2 classes that are not being held cause a teacher left...

Is he better off staying in the study hall...using that time to get his grades at the highest level he can...or is he better taking a different elective?

He has never taken a study hall in the past...not sure what grade is possible in study hall...but he needs to move his GPA up...and I know they want to make sure kids are not slacking teir SR year...

So any advice?

E~ quick question for walking... Should I wear my sneakers or is walking in my Crocs Mary Janes ok .. going to start to walking hopefully tomorrow

As for study halls ... no grade it is usually a place to finish up home work and get a quick cram session in and ummm screw off! I had one every other class my senior year until I went to guidance an said I was Bored! I took easy classes like cooking and I took a good class called decisions which basically learn how to function as an adult how to look for Jobs in what ever field you where choosing, how to search for and apartment how to budget etc etc...I am sure that they don't offer that class to much.. I am sure there is probably something like it. I called it real life 101!!!
I would think One study hall is enough depends on how often he would have it during that week. If it is one period a day then not great but if it is only 1 period every other day than yeah that is fine!

How did things go with Work last night did he get in trouble ?

Off to clean and start PACKING!!!!!!!!!!

Morning Ladies!

Hopefully I have everyone's name right!

Erika Most of my family lives in Vermont, so I have spent a fair amount of time in NH and Maine. We did an annual family trip to a beach house in Southern Maine for several years. I have visited Kennebunkport like 5 million times, most recently towards the end of July. I totally loved UNH. Loved the location and the school was the perfect size. And they gave me a partial scholarship. My own state school wouldn't give me anything!

Stephanie Mojitos are best enjoyed in the pool for sure!

Liz I am working on my drawerful of purses. My obsession used to be shoes, but since I live in FL, I pretty much only wear flip flops, except when running, so i needed a new obsession.

 to everyone! Have a Good Day!

AHH I had a friend that went to castleton State! She actually lived on Lake Bomoseen. I have another friend that lives in Goram (sp?) VT I am supposed to be heading to her wedding #2 on sat but Work gets in the way of things like that!

Hi Gang...

I am beat this morning. I was up until about 1:00 last night working on my report and I am still not quite finished with it. I am hoping to finish everything by lunch so that I can spend this afternoon wading through the pile of work that has been on hold as a result of the report...

I so need to exercise tonight as I am feeling a little more mushier than usual today...

Steph - I would recommend sneakers for exercise walking. I know crocs are supposed to be the end all be all, but I am not sure I would trust them for fast paced exercise...

Talk to you all later... I am beginning to see the light at the end of this tunnel...

E~ quick question for walking... Should I wear my sneakers or is walking in my Crocs Mary Janes ok .. going to start to walking hopefully tomorrow

When I was in phsycial therapy for my foot *issue* this spring, the therapist was telling me how much she absolutely loved Crocs. Wanna know why? Because they are SO BAD FOR YOUR FEET that she'll always have a JOB! :scared1: No, no, no. Do not wear crocs. or flip flops. or clogs. Wear foot gear that is specifically intended for walking/running etc. It will give you the proper support that you need. Trust me - foot issues are not a fun thing to deal with. :sad2:

As for study halls ... no grade it is usually a place to finish up home work and get a quick cram session in

In our high school they have 8 class periods - this year, DS (Senior) has 2 study halls - but his core course load is no cake walk. AP Calculus, Honors Physics (one of the study halls is used for phsyics lab once a week), honors civics & english...so, yeah. He does use the time effectively....although, there are some pretty fun electives out there...

Back from the gym - felt good to lift some weights! I don't have to work (at my paying job  ) today - so I'm getting in some "tractor time" now that the kids are back in school. Going out to the hay field, where I'm going to work on my tan. I told DD that I was going to be out there all afternoon singing "She thinks my Tractor's Sexy"... (she rolled her eyes  )...

oh - and I'm getting my hair cut today. :scared: I had to change my appt from last week, and my stylist had no openings until NEXT week - so I'm taking DD's appt with another gal. That always makes me nervous! And DD gets MY appt next week - she's just getting ends trimmed on her long, long hair, so no biggie for her.

Hey Gang--

Like Nancy, I was back at the gym today! I have kept my running schedule, but it has been a full week since the gym (and then only twice the week before) so I have some make up work to do there. Had a good work-out, but I sure did notice the absence!

DAWN--it is fairly common for seniors to have multiple study halls. But it is also fairly common for them to get nothing done there. My advice would be this--have him take two easy-peasy electives b/c those good grades will boost his GPA. Study hall won't boost his GPA, it will only allow him time to work on his classes (so it could boost his grades that way...but if he gets easily distracted, then study hall is not the answer). But I would only do this for the first half of the year. Colleges only look at senior grades up to about January. So, have him take some easy classes now and boost his GPA. Then let him have some down time during the second half of his senior year when he will have less focus.

AMY--so you are a New Englander! :cool1:

STEPH--OMG, no crocs for fitness or walking. Ever. Go to a real running store (not like Foot Locker or some place at the mall or any chain...but a real running shoe store) and they will properly fit you for walking shoes.

Hi all -
The English class he was taking did not coincide with Architecture 1 and II and instead of letting us know....they dropped the electives and put 1 study hall each semester...

Talked with advisor (who is an idiot) and we decided to move hime to alternative english clases (switching from World Perspectives 1&2 to Science Fiction and Creative Writing) he actually needs 2 english classes his second semester because he moved to a non NCAA english class last year..and now looking at NCAA colleges..needs it...and with sports 1/2 of what they are 1st semester...second semester will be fuller...

If architecture is too hard...he can drop it second semester for his elective...and put in something easier...

His overall GPA is only a 2.15...so he needs to raise it this semester...and some colleges said they would hold him in a commited but not confirmed postition until June if needed for higher GPA - some schools look at overall GPA...some only core classes so no hiding under basket weaving 1-7...:lmao:

The admissions also said that since his grades are up huge from 9th grade...they would look at his progress...and if he was not taking easy classes...offer him an admittance based on his dedication now...not in 9th grade...

He is re-taking his ACT on October 25th...18 overall in Denver when we were gone...which I was actually suprised by with no good sleep and driving 16 hours the 3 days before...this included the new writing portion...science and math were his strongest subjects....some schools will look at the best of each subjects numbers on the ACT's not 1 over the other....

A lot of kids who are straight A students only got 18-20's and I was glad he showed himself he can do well if he tries...

Steph - I did not hear about Hollister yet - he needs to call them tonight.....

Sounds like you got that all worked out at least. Is he doing any formal ACT Prep? I really recommend and advise students toward the Princeton Review methods.

If his first round as an 18, he ideally wants a minimum score of 23 for the next time around. That would make a huge difference and then he wouldn't have to deal with conditional acceptances.

OMG!!! I am having the most crazy day. No time for DISsing, and that's really not acceptable.

I have read all 3! pages and would love to post but, three big things pulling me away. Nothing important to me, but everyone else's emergencies. bah.

I'll check in later.

Hi Ladies!

Hope everyone is having a good evening! Pretty boring here..Dinner, wine, walk, pilates, more wine...:rolleyes1

DD just started walking in the past couple weeks so I went and splurged on her first real pair of sneakers..She got the cutest nike's!

Also went to TJ Maax and drooled over some D and B purses, but I managed to control myself. They also had Vera cosmetic bags...it was hard to walk away.

I don't think I've mentioned on here that I totally hate my job right now. I will probably be laid off by Nov 1st. (Actually not too worried about this, we do have a plan, and I'd only have to go back to work part time and not until after the holidays) And all my coirkers have been especially irksome the last couple weeks. On of them actually sent an email TO me last week complaining about ME (obviously he meant to send it to someone else). I called him on it and he tried to backpedal, but the damage was done. Anyhoo...

Anyone coming to WDW in the next few days, I think you can plan on some unseasonably dry weather. BUT, I would be worried about Ike next week.

Cheers :drinking1

Amy

OMG, Amy! The email! So WRONG!!!!

Tell us more about your daughter, if you don't mind. I like the kid stories. Emily, 4, got her first pair of cleats yesterday. They are precious! Too bad she's too busy talking at soccer practice to actually play. Her mother's daughter, obviously.

Ok, today. Went to WW and weighed in. Up 6lbs! Whee!!!! YES!!!! It wasn't 10, it wasn't 7, it was only 6! As Erika said, I'm not signing the adoption papers! It's gotta go!

And then I worked until I fell over and then I got a cold. My throat hurts. I HAVE to go to bed! So, I will catch up tomorrow.

Night!!!

:rotfl2: My "excess" has been hanging around so long I think it has squatters rights! :rotfl2: I think I need a good lawyer to draw up some eviction papers.

Well, yesterday was a good day....until...

Started out great - hit the gym for some much needed weight-work. I'm experiencing a little "muscle awareness" today :rolleyes1 I ate good all the way thru the afternoon....then...we went to Olive Garden for dinner. It was DH's birthday, and that was his choice. :goodvibes So - you know how Olive Garden will give you a "sample" of the wines? yeah. You can have up to four 1 ounce samples (ie a whole glass of wine) before you decide which one you want to order. umm-hmm. ::yes:: That's what we did alright. Then we ordered a bottle of cabernet and drank the whole thing. (DS17 is our dd in those cases :drive: ). Ugh. I'm a *little* sluggish this a.m. :scared: Headed out for my bike ride, then to work, where I solemnly vow I will NOT sample the food I make today!

I have to send a "nasty-gram" to the Middle School today :rolleyes1 ...more on that later - not really a big issue, just a major annoyance that ticks me off!

and Amy - that email thing - totally unexceptable.

Dear Nancy's Excess,

Please vacate the premise immediately. I know the visit to Olive Garden might have given you the wrong idea, but Ms. AkaSnowWhite is firm in her decision to evict you.

If you do not comply, we will have to take drastic measures.

Sincerely,

Liz aka SeptGirl

Ok so that eviction notice was HYS TER I CAL!:rotfl2:
I think I so need one for the junk in my trunk!

So All THREE of my kids went off today! I didn't get upset.. because I was to worried where the bus was! It was over 15 minutes late! The kids are to be in school in homeroom at 810 and the bus didn't get here to 8:00 and there are several more stops along the way. I did drive to the school to take pictures of Ty getting off the bus and I over heard on the PA system that there were a few late buses arriving so home room would late longer than normal. ie: my kids bus. They finally arrived at 8:20 I snapped a picture and hugged and kissed and off they went. Of course SAm thought that I was a BIG DORK she not only thought it but told me! I told her that I had done it for her and I will do it for all of them so deal!
The CART is going today.. I realized that it was all muddy last night from out last outing so I have now washed the cart and shammied it. The people should be here some time this morning or early afternoon to get it!
So I am at a kinda loss of what to do... well not exactly I have to pack and clean as I do that! YIKES.. I haven't packed in so long!I wish that I had a magic wand:wizard: to just do it for me. Along with fold the four loads of laundry that I washed late last night! Then work tonight!
Hope everyone has a great day!
