In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Lyz, good luck with the hogs.

A cluster, well, I will explain to you on AIM sometime. I worked from home due to bringing kitty home from the vet. Also, they were replacing our carpets today and were going to kick us out at 5:30 anyhow.

You are going to post pics of this cake right..... hmmmm still waiting on pic of you too!!!

Yeah - I know. I'm not big in the photo dept...I looked to see if there was a recent photo of me...not so much! We went to WDW in April and do you know I only took pic's on the LAST DAY. Took a shot of the kids standing under the Pleasure Island sign ('cause we had a BLAST with them at the Comedy Warehouse & Adventurer's Club....we still sing the song together..)

Hi all - I need some time to catch up - I will try this weekend - got out of the hospital and still feel like crap...I have so many bruises from blown veins that I look like a prize fighter who lost the prize. Not sexy...I am totally exhausted and I always find it amazing how much energy can be zapped out of you for laying around...

Oy. So sorry...hope you are on the mend soon...

Deb - your "seat" comment cracked me up! I got the padded cycling shorts  they may not be pretty, but they really are much more comfortable...

So Lyz - now I've got "this little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home".....going in my head. THANKS! :goodvibes

Toot-Toot! Look who's waking up the thread!

(I have a busy day, the regrettable reason.)

Gonna go tango with the dreadmill.

TTFN

Good morning! I am on 4 hours sleep so if this is incoherent, now you know why! :lmao:

Kat - so proud of you, for the spreedsheet, but also so everything. Really and truly.

Lyz - I want you to know that you can now run more than me. No kidding. I am totally awestruck, but I knew you were going to overtake me with your sheer force of will. :worship:

I'm so glad the good hog gets to go. Send me some bacon from the lazy one.

Nancy - Please, pictures of something? The kids? And have them take one of you!!!

Deb - I loved the comment about the clip shoes. My BFF Greenie (that's what we call her on here) bikes and wears them, and she has fallen over with the bike, like boom! Down! It's not pretty. But it's kind of funny.

Paula - We are like the social bees, huh? How did your class go last night?

Erika - shot you an email. Entering the Work Zone right now. Let's hope it's happy!

Dawn - you just take care of yourself, okay! We will send you healing thoughts. :grouphug:

So, Bruce. I did pretty well. Ate the sandwich I brought, and my 2 pt snack, drank 3 beers, didn't buy any of the greasy food they were selling. Now, onto today and tonight in NYC. No time to exercise today, so just keep your fingers crossed for me, okay? ;)

Oh, and the concert was 3 solid hours of rock and roll. Nothing wrong with that! :)

So I just wrote this in an e-mail to Liz and I thought I should post it here. Accountability and all that, you know.

So today is August 1st. Wow. Like, wth? But I am making the commitment to track for the entire month. I just HAVE to do it. HAVE TO. So that is my goal for the month. I feel pretty good. You know how you can tell with the switch is just flipped to ON? That is how I feel today about the tracking. I think I am really ready to take it on.

Ok, have a great day everyone! Lots to do here, though nothing really fun. I am hoping to get the kids to the beach this afternoon, but still waiting to see what the weather is going to do.

Time to run. I am actually excited to run this morning!

Hi Everyone...

Having the total day from hades today... woke up late, found out my one aunt who is the closest thing I have to a grandmother on my dad's side of the family is having emergency gallbladder surgery this morning and didn't get to pack my lunch so I am on my own food wise for the day... then I finally get to work to find out that all heck is breaking out here as well. One of the pieces being installed on the roof is cracked and will take two months to replace on a project that is already a year behind schedule. The contractor's doing the work have a Project Manager who is incompetant and I get to argue with him for the millionth time over this (yeah me...). It is days like this when I have to forcibly remind myself that I love my job.... really I do...

On the plus side, I did make it to my class last night despite my having second thoughts at the intersection waiting for the light to change. I told myself no you have to go. You told the chicks (and Dan if you are reading this) that you were going to class so get your slightly smaller than it used to be, but still big ole butt in there and sweat... So I did... The negative, I was so hungry when I came home that I ate two pieces of the pizza that my parents ordered instead of my healthy food... not my best move... I know... I am heading out camping with the cousins this weekend and will find a trail to walk tomorrow and do an extended work out on Sunday to make up for it...

gotta run.. the proverbial crap is starting to hit the fan around here...

I'll try to check in later today before I leave but I can't guarantee it... If I don't, have a great weekend everyone and I'll talk to you on Sunday.

Paula

Hang in there Paula!

Hope your aunt will be ok. Gallbladder attacks are painful, but the surgery is routine (like appendix) and usually done laparascopically, so often out of the hospital the same or next day. Healing thoughts headed her way.

Got my run in, so that is done for the day. Now I just have to attack the rest of my life!

Erika - thanks for the kind words. I am trying not to worry since I had this same surgery six months ago, but I guess the ER screwed up and put tubes in so that the fluids building up in her stomach could drain, but then they didn't actually open the tubes so to treat the pain they ended up over medicating her and now they can't get her to wake up.... They say that she is in no danger and just needs time to let the drugs work their way out and the surgery can be scheduled for Sunday or Monday. I am worried... I don't know what my dad would do if something happened to her. She has been his rock since their mother died 36 years ago... I am thinking good thoughts and surprisingly, not eating my way through the stress so I guess there is a positive here...

Anyways, work is still hellish, but that was to be expected given the problems we have had today. I am really looking forward to plopping my butt in a chair with a book next to the lake. I am going to need the relaxation that comes with that...

I probably won't be able to check in again before I leave so have a great weekend everyone!!!!!

Paula

Dawn - welcome back.... please take care of yourself...

So hello ladies and Dan, too!
So I am home again today! Zac still not feeling the best:sick: and numbers were crazy low again last night. I think the only thing that saved me from being up ALL NIGHT was that we went for ice cream before bed! So until 230 this morning I was up checking his blood sugars. I talked to the endocrinologist again today, gee Andy the phone person new who I was again! Not a good sign! They suggested us taking Zac to the pediatrician to see what is going on with his belly... What a wasted trip that was! Pedi told me that there was nothing that they could do just keep track of his sugars and ketones! HELLO I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT ALL WEEK!!! I know there isn't much that they can do for the stomach bug but gosh don't treat me like I am stupid! He told me if he starts vomiting more frequently than I should come back. GEE REALLY!??? YOU THINK!!!:rolleyes1 can you tell I don't like this DR. Our Pedi wasn't available.
So after that I headed to my mom's house where Stephen and Ty were mowing the lawn. Zac sat (which is very hard for him, you know he is sick when he doesn't move)and watched as we mowed, weed whacked, and pushed mowed her lawn for 2 hours. I DID the most activity do to I push mowed and weed whacked, now my arms feel like they are jello.
So have lost all the vacation weight again! I think I have 1 more pound and then I am back to what I was on the 14th!:yay:
We signed the purchase papers yesterday for our house:yay: , and gave the deposit. Once they sign the papers (I am assuming on Monday they will do that) we have 15 days to go in and inspect the house with a contractor and make sure there is no structural damage. I will have to call the bank and schedule an appointment with them for this coming week to get the ball rolling and Hopefully we can get in the house soon! I am so very glad that we didn't do the modular! I think that would have been just a BIG HUGE nightmare!
Liz I am glad that you are having a busy social weekend! :woohoo: for you eating good food last night while seeing Bruce! I would have totally crumbled and threw out what I brought and eaten the greasy food!

Lyz I thought of you all day while I was mowing the lawn because I started looking like Kermit and I thought I could join the pig movement! What are their names again? Is there a Wilbur? Great job on the running!

Erika you are the goddess you run no matter what is on going on! :worship:

Dawn hope you feel better soon! I wouldn't have blown your veins!:sad2:

Paula Hope you have a great weekend!! Hope your aunt feels better soon!
Kat Where are you??? Hows those Job interviews going??

Does anyone do WW? They're starting a program here at work.

I've looked into it before (before I actually started, you know, exercising), but I live outside Miami. I often refer to it as Upper (or Northern) South America (you know, like Michigan's Upper Peninsula?). None of the WWs by where I work have English meetings. The ones by my house are 50% English, but at not-convenient times.

I know WW says you lose more in groups than alone, but I really am not sure about this whole group thing. What will I get out of them that I don't get from you all and SparkPeople? Do I need another tracker?

Of course, since I'm at no loss for the week, maybe WW is not such a bad thing? Of course, I know why no weight loss. Water, salt, 3 pieces of birthday cake, chocolate-covered almonds, and missing my evening bike ride.

Happy Friday night ladies (and gent..)! While Liz is out partying it up like a super star....I'm at home, with 2 teenage girls decorating a cake. It's SO HARD for me to let them do it themselves! :rolleyes1 I baked the cake, made the mousse filling, and put the base layer of frosting on for them. So - I'm confident it will taste good! ;) But their ideas for decorating, I'm afraid, may be more than they bargained for!

(oh dear. DS just said "are you SUPPOSED to be putting smudges in???"...:confused3 )

Nancy - Please, pictures of something? The kids? And have them take one of you!!!

Working on it - went to take pics of the cake...battery is dead - currently charging!

Deb - I loved the comment about the clip shoes. My BFF Greenie (that's what we call her on here) bikes and wears them, and she has fallen over with the bike, like boom! Down! It's not pretty. But it's kind of funny.

Ummm..yeah....DH would totally agree with that, as he got a GREAT laugh out of my "from a complete standstill fall".. :headache:

Oh, and the concert was 3 solid hours of rock and roll. Nothing wrong with that! :)

Totally green with envy here ....glad you enjoyed it!!

YIKES! Hope your day turned out better than it started! :confused3

You told the chicks (and Dan if you are reading this) that you were going to class so get your slightly smaller than it used to be, but still big ole butt in there and sweat... So I did...

YEAH! :yay: :yay: We'll take all the victories we can get - no matter how big or how small...it's still a victory! :thumbsup2

So I am home again today! Zac still not feeling the best:sick:

Ugh. I hope he's finally feeling better....and that you all can get some REAL sleep tonight

Does anyone do WW?

I did. Lost 45 pounds that way. Loved the program. Definitely recommend it :thumbsup2

Of course, since I'm at no loss for the week, maybe WW is not such a bad thing? Of course, I know why no weight loss. Water, salt, 3 pieces of birthday cake, chocolate-covered almonds, and missing my evening bike ride.

Yup. That'll definitely slow you down! Unfortunately, that's exactly what I've been doing myself.. :rolleyes1

OK - back to being "frosting monitor"... ...hope everyone has a great weekend....

Does anyone do WW? They're starting a program here at work.

I do and so does LIZ I have lost 30 pounds and I think Liz is up to 71 pounds. My mom is also on it and she has lost 27. It is a great program! Hope that you can find one that they speak english!

Hey team! Here I am...working on a Friday night. Actually, the truth is that I don't mind it. The house is quiet and I know that if I power through on Friday nights, then I can basically take the week-end off (aside from putting out fires, etc. That is the one thing with working from home online...you really don't ever get a day off).

Does anyone do WW? They're starting a program here at work.

I know WW says you lose more in groups than alone, but I really am not sure about this whole group thing. What will I get out of them that I don't get from you all and SparkPeople? Do I need another tracker?

1. LIZ and STEPH both do WW and are goddesses because of it! LIZ has lost 70 pounds! 70! And she can tell you all the ins and outs. Bottom line, though, is that she loves it. STEPH just made her 10% goal recently, so she is cruising right along.

2. Dawn just started WW, but obviously she has been ill so hasn't been able to go to meetings, etc. I am sure she will chime in when ready.

3. I did WW for about 5 weeks or so. For me, it was a bust. But I still stand by the program. I had a hard time with it because I only had a few pounds left to lose (about 15-17 at that time) and I was exercising like a maniac. And with my level of activity, I was having a hard time managing my points, etc. But I think the program is excellent is worth trying.

4. You are on Spark??? Um, hello...there is a DIS team on Spark! Kat and I are both on it. Kat is religious with Spark, and she has lost all of her weight (60-ish pounds) from Spark and counting calories, etc. She loves it and will tell you the differences between Spark and WW.

So as I was reading the local paper this evening, I notice a little blurb about a 5k fun run that is taking place tomorrow morning. It is only a couple of miles from my house. So I am actually considering just showing up and running it. The only issue is whether or not I can get me and the kids out of the house by 7:15 on a Saturday morning. The race starts at 8, and I will finish at 8:30 (give or take, depending on if they start on time) and then I have a tennis match starting at 8:30. So...it could be a fun morning.

The sensible side of me says, why cram everything in? Just play tennis. You won't be rushing around like a crazy woman all morning. But the running side of me is like...but it's a 5k right around the corner from my house. I HAVE to do it. :rotfl2:

So, we will see.

It is Friday....who normally weighs in on Fridays? I think Kat, right? Let's see...

Steph and Paula are Mondays
Liz is Weds.
Lyz is like every day (stop that! :lmao: )
Dawn is Thursday
Kat and I are on Friday (but of course, I just stay steady...always! :lmao: )

Am I missing anyone? Nancy and Deb, do you do weekly weigh-ins?

Kat Where are you??? Hows those Job interviews going??

I left my laptop at home today. Had to use a loaner at work, so didn't have my DIS stuff set up on it and couldn't remember my password.

What a freakin' day!! Got up a bit late this morning, then realized I hadnt filled out the application for this job (interview at 8AM) so was trying to do that and was like, crap, gotta go. Went to the car and promptly spilled coffee all over the passenger seat. Got on I-40, and there was an accident that slowed me down by about 5-10 min. Realized about 15 min into the drive that I left my laptop bag at home (with laptop, wallet, etc) but I was already about 5-10 min late for my interview so couldn't do anything about it.

However, I think the interview went fairly well. Luckily the hiring manager that I was meeting at 8 also got stuck in the accident so he both ran a few min late as well, and physically SAW my excuse so that helps.

I am not sure that I would take this job. Unlike Tues, I wasn't turned off immediately, but it is right across the street from where I work now, so no commute time saved. Also, it would require some travel, and would be a lot of onsite implementation with customers and such. Intriguing, but not sure it is the one, you know?

Yesterday's interview, I got an email from the hiring manager today waxing poetic and ending with, "I think you are a great fit for <insert company> ... and I am excited about the possibility of working with you further." So, I think I can expect an offer from them. However, although I *LOVED* the company and the atmosphere (small startup, very casual, very fun), and the commute (< 10 min), I am just not interested in the technology that they are using. Also, it is totally lateral so I am not sure there either.

I also have two interviews scheduled next week, both in the same office park as good company, both startups.

So, I have put out 14 resumes now, and have 11 responses. 1 has said no (security clearance req). 1 asked for salary req and never heard anything else. 6 face to face either done or scheduled, 1 waiting to schedule f2f, and 2 phone screens as yet to follow up (although 1 was today).

Overall, pretty good. Hopefully one of them will work out and be right.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Ummm... A 5k, right in your own back yard???:confused3 I'd have a hard time missing that one...but with tennis, and kids in tow...I can see how you'd be torn :headache: At least if you decide to skip this one, we all know that it's only due to major scheduling conflict, 'cause you clearly would do it otherwise!

Hi guys! Crazy day for me. Run, Run, Run. But, I am pretty caught up/ahead of the game at work and everything is mostly clean, so I'm feeling good.

The camper rental arrived today and it rocks. We are excited. Going to take Willie out early in the morning. (YUCK, Saturday IS MY SLEEP IN MORNING!!!)

My rundown on you:

Liz: Great job on the non consumption of grease and chocking down a homemade sammy. And the concert sounded awesome! (Can't wait to hear friend report.)

Steph: Poor Zac. And I feel ya about the Dr. Ohh, and exciting about the house paperwork. President Bush thanks you.

Paula: So sorry about your Aunt. Try to relax this weekend.

Kat: whew, you are really interviewing! Man did your morning SUCK.

EriKa: oh man, a 5 miler right around the corner. And it'd be your run for the day. (I bet money you do it. You can't help yourself.) Did you say you were going away this weekend?

Deb: WW is a good program, but I like counting calories more. (When I actually do it.) I also understand about the, buy some chocolate and have a "bit". Then INHALE 100%. My mind and chocolate do NOT work together.

Nancy: oh my. I'd probably cringe while watching the cake get tackified.

Kat: did you workout today? And what was the calorie count?

EriKa: did you track today?

EriKa: I weighed -2 lbs this morning, but of course, who knows about tomorrow. I need to pick a day for my official weight. So Thursday or Friday will be my official weigh day, and every other day will be my weigh day for me.
(I have to use Thur OR Fri to take into account the day I don't life weights. Don't want to officially weigh more than I officially have to, right?)

Ok, off to bed. Check in tomorrow.

Look at Lyz, keeping us all accountable! :goodvibes

Yes, I did tack today. My goal range is 1200-1500 calories (due to the crazy exercise schedule I keep). I am on the high side today right at 1500. But I tracked. And I am not over. So I will consider it a victory.

So do you head to the fair tomorrow? Or do you just drop off Willie?

AND OMG!!! -2! You are ON FIRE! Do you realize that this puts you in the LEAD for the challenge?!?!? Goddess crown! (Looks good on you! Keep it for a while, eh?)

Steph--how exciting about the house! WOO HOO! Things are moving along nicely. You might get to be in that pool for Labor Day week-end!

Kat--fingers still crossed for you. One of them will come through.

LIZ--hope you are having fun!

NANCY--ha! Funny about the girls doing the cake! I am way too much of a control freak to allow that to happen!

PAULA--hope you get the down time you need!

Still working...and the race is in less than 8 hours...not looking good, but we will see.

EriKa: oh man, a 5 miler right around the corner. And it'd be your run for the day. (I bet money you do it. You can't help yourself.)

Ok, Lyz...the check is in the mail! Yes, I ran the race this morning. And at the last minute, Riley decided to run it with me. I was so incredibly proud of him. He is an athlete, sure, but he has never tried running just for the sake of running. He had on regular old beat-up sneakers (cause who buys their kids expensive running shoes?)...and get this, he WON the kids' race! He is hurting now, though. Took a lot out of him. But he is super proud of himself. He did the whole 5k in 36 minutes. That is slightly better than 12 minute miles. And his legs are only half as long as an adult's!

I did fairly well also. I came in second place for the women and 5th place overall. Don't get excited...it sounds way better than it is! :rotfl2: Today is the largest, most popular race in the entire state (up in Portland), so all of the "real" runners do that race! :lmao: So, there were just slow pokes like me out there who didn't want to be humiliated at the "big" race.

Still, as the WISH motto states, I had the courage to show up and that is really the victory here.

After the race it was straight to tennis. I played pretty well. And considering I had just run a race, I was pleased.

Ok, on with the rest of the day!:goodvibes
