In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

hey Liz I would try to book later in the month. That would be a very tiresome trip to Disney just after a cruise, If it were the other way around I would say maybe!

OH LYZ did ya notice no CAPS!!! I remembered to shut the dam things off! Now lets just hope that I remember to turn them on before I log back into the LAB program!:lmao: :rotfl2:

Steph, you are right! Later in the month or another month for sure. It's a shame, but it's just too soon.

Okay, gang, a serious post here. Most of you know about my mom's struggle with breast cancer for the last 12 years. I know, without a doubt, that the advances in treatment are why she is still alive today. So in March, when my friend Teri asked me to be part of a triathlon relay team to raise money for breast cancer research in my mom's honor, I said yes. My job? To run 5k.

You know me, and you know how I feel about running (absolute terror). But I am going to cross that finish line, and I am going to ask for your help.

My goal is to raise $1,000. I will run for all the women and men and children on this planet, the ones whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, and the ones who might be lucky enough not to be. I will run for you, my friends, in the hope you never battle this disease. I will run for my aunt who lost her fight. I will run for my daughter, so she never has to go through what my mom did. I will run for my mom, a survivor four times over, and I will run for myself.

I know I can count on your support as I put on my sneakers and hit the pavement outside my house. I hope, if you can, you will donate something towards my goal. If you'd like to donate, information can be found here:

http://web.mac.com/lizwalter/iWeb/Site/Donation Information.html

Tuesday I go outside, and start to run. Wish me luck! And thank you for everything you have given me since January. Your friendship has been priceless, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Hi All...

Its been a busy weekend with my friend visiting, but it was awesome. We headed for Lake George to check things out up there and then did some scrapbooking. I did all right with my eating, but considering I ate out every night this week for one reason or another, I'll be happy if I maintained my weight this week....

OK - now onto all of the messages that were posted....

Sarah - welcome back!!!! it is so nice to see you on the boards again and you look great...

Steph - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the new job... here's hoping you get the time with your kids that you are looking for...

Kat - I know where you are right now... When I left architecture to go into construction management, it was because of something similar... Here's hoping you find the next great opportunity with a company who realizes your skills.

Erika - Welcome back from the woods... I'm sure there are a few stories in that trip to share...

Liz - OMG, you look amazing.... I am so envious...

Dawn - thanks for the offer on the Tupp.... I am holding off on making purchases like this until after my move. I still need to figure out what I need...

I apologize if I missed anyone, but reading through 4 pages of post will do that to a person...

Well, I'm off to bed... see you all in the morning,
Goof

Morning! Happy Monday! You know about me and Mondays! :rotfl:

So I figured I would respond to everyone while my photos are uploading to photobucket so I can post them.

Btw, they are closing Pleasure Island in Sept. Liz and I were talking last night, do we want to change our SSR ressie?

What do you mean CLOSING PI??? See, I have cut my online activities way down (like you guys said) so that I could spend the time tracking and thus I have not heard this. Splain, please.

Ok, Erika, you want a pic? Hah! You will get one! Not for the faint of heart of the skinny of thigh - don't say I didn't warn you!

Me, the new bikini, no covering anything up:

How's that for a post? :rotfl:

Freaking GODDESS, you are! Looking FAB. SO super proud of you!

For starters, he'd want a detailed explanation of exactly who you are and how I know you.

Once we had that established. He'd wonder why I didn't look like you. Seeing as how I'm on a diet support thread with you and you look so awesome, and it's obvious to all that I am gaining, not losing...

It'd be Liz this and Liz that.

Yeah, not gonna do it.

HI LAR IOUS! OMG, I thought I was going to lose it!

Well, just tell him you just got on the thread - but Kat, Erika, and I are your coaches...and you won 3 nights in WDW in Dec! How's that? Two birds with one stone.

PERFECT! Yes, do that!

You still should have gotten them... Just cuz you fit in them... hehe!

I TOTALLY would have done that! :lmao:

Okay, off the main topic, but I need your opinions.

We have a WDW trip booked for Sept 1st-6th - bounceback. However, since that booking my inlaws have booked us onto (and paid for) a big family cruise Aug 23-31st. So we'd come home and go away right away, and Nick doesn't want to do that.

What to do! Do I try to finagle this Sept trip? Maybe be there for my birthday? 9/19? Or do I give up Sept, cancel it, and work another month? And if so, what month? Em is only in preschool, so I can take her out. my priorities are good deal, and low crowds - like very low crowds.

Go later in Sept., I say! Do you care about free dining? If that is not as important, you can try going in October...weather is better and you get F&W (my fav.). If you want REALLY low crowds, Jan. 5th - till right before MLK day is the "new Sept." September isn't super low anymore cause of free dining.

Done.

A bit about the group I go with. There are several families that make up our core group. We have been doing this for 14 years (well I have been doing this for 14 years…they have been doing it much longer). I joined the group when I started dating Jeff. The rest of them (except for one other woman who “married in” like me) are all childhood friends. They all grew up together, graduated, married their H.S. sweethearts, and settled in the same town they grew up in. Yup, they all still live there and Jeff is the only one who moved away. They are some of the best people you would ever want to know.

Our “mission” has changed and evolved over the years. But basically, we try to camp in really remote places that no one else goes. But we DON’T “rough it”. It is not like we are sleeping in the dirt under the stars or anything. In fact, it is almost as though we are trying to bring luxury into the wilderness. We all bring a TON of stuff, have gourmet meals, etc.

Pre-kids, we really got into the luxury thing for a while…bringing linens, crystal and china, etc. and setting up in these bizarre and remote locations. A camping magazine actually did a little story on us about 12 years ago.

Now though, we have simplified a bit. We use normal camping gear, etc. but still bring all of our creature comforts and still go to remote locations.

Ok, so this first picture is our friend’s tent (not ours)….but you can see the terrain. I took it from the beach (which you can see just in the corner)

And these next two were our views in the morning and evening….

All the kids went in the water even though it was not great weather. I mean…PRIVATE ocean beach?!?!?! When else do you ever get that?

Just a cute pic of all of the girls who were camping. Mine are the two blonds…

More in the next post.

This is the inside of our tent. As you can see, we sleep in comfort! These are air mattresses up on camping frames so that we are at normal bed height and not low to the ground (moisture issues and all...). The girls share a bed and Jeff and I are in the other. Riley has a cot that he loves that is at the other end of the tent:

We went on a good hike...about 4 miles. The kids did really well. I will post more details about this in a different post, but here are the pics from it. As you can see, we got pretty socked in for a period.

And here are ones of just my family--

One more post to go...

And here is Cammie on the hike...

And all of the kids from our group:

And here is the ONLY shot of me from the whole week-end! :lmao: Typical! And naturally I hate it. My eyes are half closed and really...what is up with my belly here! All I can think of is that I was standing weird because I no longer feel the need to hide my stomach because it is flat, and now it looks horrible here! Argh!

And one last one--

That ought to last you guys for a while! :rotfl2:

E - Looks like you had an awsome trip.... I am loving the view you had to wake up to in the morning.... I would much rather be there right now than sitting at my desk working.... Oh well, gotta pay the bills somehow right?

Goof

PS - I thought your family picture was a nice one.....

E- That looks so fun! The pictures look great! I love the last one of Kell! That one needs to be framed! MMM gourmet meals! Camping with friends is always the best!

The last time we went camping was Labor day and we froze! Temps dropped to the 40's over night and here we were in a tent! We all slept in sweats and socks and cuddled with whom ever we slept with! My poor mom froze because she didn't have a bunk mate!

Very Glad you had fun!

1. Try to change it, so we are there in Sept, but later in the month. Issues: Bounceback is hard to change, other codes are gone.

2. Book another trip, either in Oct or Jan...

What to do! Do I try to finagle this Sept trip? Maybe be there for my birthday? 9/19? Or do I give up Sept, cancel it, and work another month? And if so, what month? Em is only in preschool, so I can take her out. my priorities are good deal, and low crowds - like very low crowds.

Nick has no opinions, I need yours!

I think you should go Sept 1-6, but that is just a selfish desire to meet you. We will be there Aug 30-Sept 7. :)

October is very crowded from my experience. I would choose the 2nd week in Nov.

Erika, great pics!! Looks like everyone had a great time.

Sarah, glad you're back.

I seem to have caught some sort of bug. I thought it was just being hungover but I didn't start feeling bad until during my workout (~6PM) and I felt really, really crummy all evening. Severe chills, clammy, then warm and sweating, etc. And nothing I have eaten is left. I went to bed at 10PM and woke up about 3-4 times to be sick again (not throwing up, thank God), and the last time at 6AM feeling super nauseous. I ate a few crackers and had some soda and I do feel better now, just on the weird side.

I was supposed to drive to Wilson today but called my boss and begged off until noon-ish. Back to bed for me....

AWE Kat is sick! I say tell boss that you are to sick and you can't go anywhere but to bed. Keep eating the crackers and lots of fluids!

EriKa - the pics are awesome. That is neat that you do this every year. How do you get to the island? Has weather ever called the trip off? Has anyone ever gotten seriously hurt? (Cause I'm seeing alot of water and craggly rocks = stress for me.)

Your children are gawgous. The weather looked spectacular. Was the ocean water cold, or did it get hot enough in the day it felt good?

What all did you eat?

Liz - for sure.

We like to go to WDW in January. It's pretty empty for sure, as long as you avoid MLK weekend. Feb gets busy right as Presidents Weekend comes on.

Jan is a crap shoot on weather. We don't get to swim everytime, but that really doesn't bother us. And we take long johns to wear under jeans and tshirts. (Thin silky ones, so we don't need bulky coats for the early morning and evening chill.) (I can't stand to be cold. Liz I think you'll really notice it this winter if you hadn't already. You've lost alot of your insulation.)

It's so empty that this has happened on different trips. Well be riding a ride, like Primevel Whirl and no one will get in line, so they say, wanna go again? Now this doesn't happen on big rides but we almost never have to wait. We went in Feb this year for a builders show and the crowds that came for Presidents Day were INSANE. I am so not used to waiting in line. It nearly killed me. (Except for Peter Pan's Flight and Dumbo. Those 2 rides are NEVER without a wait.)

P - glad you had a good time with your friend.

Kat - sorry your feeling sickly.

Can someone tell me the calorie deficet needed to lose one pound? I searched twice and can't come up with the right wording and I know someone here knows it. (Kat for sure.)

Good Morning All... Just poppin by to say hi...

Erika- Great pics!!

Kat- Feel better!!!

Anywho off to the seventh pit of hell... I mean work...

Sarah

Kat - I can TOTALLY relate!! I've been sick since last Wednesday. The good news? I've lost 4 pounds. The bad news? THIS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY SUCKS! I definitely don't recommend it as a weight loss method!! :headache:

Erika - your camping pictures are amazing. Glad you had a good time.

Steph - sorry to hear about DD's school woes. I'm dreading report cards myself, because one of my DS's was a TOTAL SLACKER this 4th quarter - and while he's not failing anything, the phrase "not working up to capacity" will be all over his comment sheets, I'm sure!

I really did read all the posts that I was "behind" on...great (and BRAVE!) bathing suit photos Liz.....I'm a tankini kind of gal myself - all my "excess" is in my belly :scared: so even when I'm at my "leanest" a bikini still isn't something I'm comfortable in. Although - after Blizzard Beach this April...I'd say there are a WHOLE LOT of people who are way more comfortable with showing their bodies than I am with SEEING their bodies!

Have a great afternoon everyone! I hope to be back 'round more often than I have been lately..... :goodvibes

Ok I can totally relate to this because of living on the canadian border... The canadians (don't mean to offend anyone) Let me rephrase that French canadians don't have any modesty! There are 70 year old over weight men walking around in speedo's and their WIVES! in a bikini that would fit my teenaged daughter! Talk about  .
WAY WAY back Before I had kids and I was in a 12 I bought myself a bikini and my mother said I can't believe that you wear that! I said I look DAM good on the beach compared to the beached Canadians! (again don't mean to offend!I am being judgmental towards the wonderful northern neighbors! Not all canadians are like their french counter parts! There are some that are quite pleasant... They just don't live any where near me!) Ok so now that I have had my rant about French canadians! Where was I ?
Oh Yeah! Bathing suits! So Nancy what happened at Blizzard beach?? This is before I started posting on the threads so fill me in!!!

I am off to WW tonight! It isn't going to be good! maybe 1 pound in two weeks? DUE TO TOM! YUCK!

I can so relate on the french canadian in a speedo image... I remember seeing them on the beach in Lake George.... To think I wondered why my mom would never let us buy a bathing suit without both her and my dad's approval... seeing the beach at Lake George was my reason....

Erika - what fabulous pictures and a fabulous trip!

Kat - feel better!!!

Nancy - you get better, too!!! And it's hilarious, and true, that many many people should not be wearing bikinis!

Steph - OMG, too funny. But so sadly true!

Thanks guys... nothing like an upset stomach and the image of fat French Canadians lounging around wearing practically nothing!! :scared:

I am feeling much better and am contemplating whether or not to go to hockey tonight. I should probably skip it.

And in other good news, I had one email bite on one of the resumes I submitted, and another impromptu phone/tech screen at 5PM today. The first, I don't think we are on the same page when it comes to salary, but the 2nd resulted in them wanting to bring me in for an interview next week.

Not a bad ROI for submitting about 6 resumes!

Nancy, hope you feel better!
