In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Hey babes==

Too freakin' funny. That's what you girls are. And fast. Fast on the keyboards.

Single man in Toronto

You'll probably hide him now. :lmao:

Seriously, I'm such a chicken. Like 41 going on 12.

Everyone ...

Thank you so much for this group. You've been so sweet and generous. And it's worked already. I've got the exercise back on a better track. I haven't even gone after the eating yet and already the white capris, that gave me the "uh oh" squeeze with the pounds creeping back in after success, are feeling so much better.

Thank you all so much.

I'm sorry to hear about the disappointments some of you have been having with your families. Hope things improve somewhat. :grouphug: Or a least venting helped the frustration.

Lisa

HI LAR IOUS! Loved this post!

Oh! And I have a brother who is single...41 this week, works for ABC (which is of course owned by Disney which means he gets mega perks like free park passes). I'm just sayin...

As for shoes, I am on the other extreme end. I wear a KIDS' size 4. Try getting 4" heels in kid sizes! :rotfl2:

So far we went an looked at Norwich University (Vermont) - totally military. We loved it. Just a *tad* extreme for me personally - I'm waaaayyyy to chatty. They'd toss me out after 15 minutes  But the programs are incredible - and just what he wants.

We've also looked at Fitchburg State (Fitchburg, Mass). I'll just say, it wasn't the right fit for us and leave it at that.

He also wants to see University of New Hampshire - which I totally LOVE. I was all signed up and ready to go there myself, and at the last minute switched to UConn (in state tuition....what can I say? :confused3 ), Penn State-Abbington, Westpoint and VMI (Virginia Military Institute) are also on his list.

University of Maine - Orono keeps coming up as a good match, but he refuses. After staying at the Machias campus this summer during their mission trip, I think he's been traumatized. Too isolated for him..:rolleyes1 Not that Northfield, VT is a booming metropolis, but...still....it's not as remote as Machias!

We get to go to "Senior Planning Night" soon and learn all about the FAFSA forms, etc., etc.

totally stressful....:headache:

Ok, so we need to talk. I have been on the faculty at both UCONN and Orono, so if you need help, info, a reference or whatever, please let me know. And Orono is SO not Machias. OMG no. Not metropolis certainly, but not "I hear banjos playing" either. It has a very small-campus feel even though it is sizable. I loved the University, though was not a fan of Bangor, which is the closest city of size.

UCONN (I am a Husky as well, btw!) as you know, is not exactly in the heart of a great city! :lmao:

UNH would be my first choice for him as well. Portsmouth is such a great little city. If you come up to visit, let me know--I am just up the turnpike a bit.

I looked Chazy up. Passed by you in July. That same trip ran right into a triathlon in Lake Placid. It was wild to see them run and bike right by our window. As I was eating the freshly made brownies I was given. And I pretend I don't know how my pants suddenly feel snug. :lmao:

LOVE this story! :lmao:

okay - for you who have kids in sports or were in sports...

So what do you guys think...:confused3

Tough one, girl. On the one hand, it was a holiday. (All of our practices were canceled here.) But we also have the same rules...if you miss a practice, you are benched (or at least not allowed to start) the next game.

Question--did Treynor know about the practice? (I know that the parents didn't.) But did he? If he knew about the practice and knew what time it started, then it is his responsibility. He then had the opportunity to tell the coach that he was going out of town and would not be back in time, etc.

So far today, empty MK... got there around 11:30, walked on Pirates, BTRR, Splash, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Hall of Prez, ate lunch at Cosmic Rays, did Philharmagic, Small World, Buzz twice, Space, had an ice cream sandwich in Main street Bakery, and were out by 4PM. Did Luna Park pool for a while, showered, and now off to Yachtsman's Steakhouse for dinner....

Sounds like a perfect MK day! :cool1: What a great day...all except for the dead animal flesh for dinner part....:rotfl2:

Ok, it is final...we are moving our trip back by about a month. Now I have to reschedule everything. I am glad to be moving it back for several reasons, but I am totally bummed b/c this means we will lose Beach Club Villas and the kids were SO excited to be there. There is NO way we will get BCV or BWV since we will now be there during F&W. But again, we will be there during F&W!!!!

okay - for you who have kids in sports or were in sports...

Yesterday (Labor Day) was a national holiday last I checked...and Treyner was gone to a cabin with a friend for the weekend...

They had soccer practice yesterday...we have nothing as parents in writing to acknowledge this...and Treyner was not back in time...as was 15 other kids from the team (practice was from 4-6)...so he is being benched for todays game...as is the others (again nothing in writing about missed practices) and I am not sure what to think...

#1 Coach can run practice run playing players how he sees fit
#2 It was not like kids were in town and did not go..all kids were out of town for the weekend with relatives or at cabins...and if they do not drive...how are they reponsible to get back in time...
#3 Why can they have a practice for high school on a national holiday and have it a manditory practice???

Ok - I am not happy with Treyner...he should have had it in his itenerary...but at the same time I understand that if he had gone to Iowa with Chad, he would not have been here on time and never has been here early on a Labor Day...he alway played football so never had practice before on Monday...and he is saying that all the kids being benched...are mad as well as parents...

Treyner did not miss any captains practices for week...no school practices for 2 weeks...not a game etc...which 80% of the seniors have as well as the rest of the team...got off of work for practices when other seniors worked through the summer and did not atttend any practices...

So what do you guys think...:confused3

I'd be TICKED. My DS is running x-country (yeah, the kid with the broken back....:rolleyes1 ) They had *official* practices all last week - captains practices prior. They were given instructions last Friday for running Sat & Sun on their own and Monday was OFF. Yes, because a) it was a HOLIDAY and b) Tuesday (today) school started and they are now into total a$$ kicking workout schedules.

I think a coach that benches kids for missing a holiday practice needs to re-evaluate their priorities. Especially if they didn't give ample written notice of their policy. (where is the "flip the bird" smiley when you need it??? :confused3 )

I am, without a doubt, totally and completely GREEN WITH ENVY! :goodvibes All my fave's. Even Small World (although DS can't see where the rehab happened - looks the same to him! ). Don't you LOVE the Haunted Mansion rehab though? I so wanna go back...now! DH and I were there for our honeymoon - 20 years in October...he did plan us a vaca - but to Cancun! Yeah, I know - it'll be wonderful...just won't be Disney-rific....:rolleyes1 Have a fabulous trip, Kat.....(going to my happy place now...or maybe my LAUGHING place???)

SO. I got my wine. Had a little (then a little more...:woohoo: ) And now...I'm basically useless for the remainder of the evening...I was planning on making more soap, but working with toxic chemicals after drinking wine is not a good idea.

Maybe I'll try to load AIM instead - I mean really...how hard can it be?

Good Evening Ladies!

I am just going to have to waste more time at work if I want to keep up with this thread!!!

Got in my C25K run and 130 crunches tonight, and have been rehydrating all day after this weekend's drinking activities. :rolleyes1

I am a UNH grad, so whoever mentioned that, it gets my vote!! I LOVED it -there. Can not believe it has been 9 years since I graduated. I feel old. hockey games are tons of fun!!

I am glad to hear that everyone  the :drinking1 :drinking1 as much as I do! UNH is where it all started! Speaking of drinks, my mojito recipe (this makes a pitcher, since it's not worth it to only make one drink. IMO anyhow :) )

-1 generous cup of white rum (or more if you like it on the rum-my side)
-2 cups club soda
-8 oz (simple syrup is equal parts water and sugar) I usually make up a 3 cup batch, it will keep in the fridge for a week)
-3 limes squeezed and muddled with a muddler. The muddler is a must have. I have a fancy one from williams and sonoma.
-Leaves from a couple of mint stalks
-Muddle the limes and mint together first in the pitcher, then add the liquid ingredients
-If the limes aren't especially juicy you can add a bit of lime juice from a bottle.
-Definitely serve on the rocks and if you can find it they sell this really cool minty sugar for the glasses.

I think that's all from me tonight! Have a good night ladies!

Oh! And I have a brother who is single...41 this week, works for ABC (which is of course owned by Disney which means he gets mega perks like free park passes). I'm just sayin...

Ummm...does he want to have a "thing on the side" :rolleyes1 ..I mean..free passes...that's gotta be worth...:confused3 ...a LITTLE somethin' a least!!!

UCONN (I am a Husky as well, btw!) as you know, is not exactly in the heart of a great city! :lmao:

Ummm..so when were you at UConn??? and where? I lived in South Campus (which, oddly, has since been torn down and rebuilt :confused3  ) from fall '84 thru spring '88....math major with a concentration in statistics...but a PHD in TED'S! :thumbsup2

UNH would be my first choice for him as well. Portsmouth is such a great little city. If you come up to visit, let me know--I am just up the turnpike a bit.

yeah, I loved UNH. We talked with some friends of ours yesterday. The parents both went to UNH and the dad was Army ROTC as well...so Seth is pretty interested at this point....it's a bit larger of a school than he was really looking for - you know, the whole "big fish, small pond" thing....but I truely believe that he'll love it there....:goodvibes

Ok. two goals now. AIM and pic's....

Forgot to mention that I fall into the ginormous feet category, I am a size 11. But I guess since I am 5'11" tall it is proportionate. Before having DD I was a 10.

I also have an um, purse problem, some might call me a purse *****. I totally :lovestruc vera, coach and dooney and bourke.

Erika When are you going to be at WDW? TOT13K is at the end of October.

OMG that is the first time I typed a word that got **** out!. I am so embarassed..

Off to make a better choice in words...

NANCY--I was at UCONN and Yale from 1995-1999, so we didn't overlap (I was there for my doctoral work). My program was jointly sponsored by both universities and I had faculty/classes from both places, but where you got your degree from depended upon where you wanted to pay tuition. So....GO HUSKIES! :lmao:

AMY--wow, a UNH alum! FUN! I am in Kennebunk, so I am very close to Durham. I guest lecture there occasionally. Are you from this area originally?

DAWN--Just to clarify, though, NO I don't think that there should have been a practice at all on Labor Day. Not ok.

PAULA--where are you???

Tough one, girl. On the one hand, it was a holiday. (All of our practices were canceled here.) But we also have the same rules...if you miss a practice, you are benched (or at least not allowed to start) the next game.

Treyner did know that there was practice...did tell coach he would not be there...and nothing was said...I think what happened is that once the coach got to practice and noticed 11 kids gone he was mad and thus the punishment...I would have understood him not starting as well but the whole game is a bit much...kids who missed literally all but 5 practices of 15 held during the 3 weeks of practice prior to games starting...got benched for a game as well...so 1 practice missed and being out of town is equal to that???

I told Treyner he was responsible for finding out consequences for not being there...he should of asked...the girls team had practice from 6-8...after enough parents complained that a 4pm start was ridiculous on a holiday weekend...again boys had it from 4-6..and I just found out it was because the coach worked the night shift that evening at the airport he works at..8pm start for him...

Snow - he had soccer captains practice the 1st week of Aug...then 2 a days the 2nd 2 weeks and games/practices/scrimages since then...and Monday was his first miss...kids missed for Dr appts..denttist etc...and I think that the coach is a bit extreme...:thumbsup2

OMG, Nancy, I love you. Any woman who offers a side bet for a WDW pass is my kind of girl. And thank God you have the same sense of humor. Sometimes in Mommy suburbia my snark gets lost on the masses, and then you go and out-snark me. Nothin' like the inappropriate humor! LOVE it!

Lisa - Hey, girl, it's cool. I got, in marriage, a sister-in-lawish (not my husband's sister, but might as well be) who didn't own one purse. Now she has six. In 12 years. So I'm making progress. ;)

My college BFF is a size 11. It sucks. I'm a 10. Thank God big feet are in now. And I know what you mean - want to try a 9? UM, NO!

Amy - oh, come sit next to me. Let's talk purses! I seriously have drawers of them.

Erika - Yes, the 5k is the 14th. I am back to training, as it is, on Thursday. I'll do what I can. One day I will run a whole 5k, but this is not the day. But I will raise lots of money for breast cancer research and that's what counts. Like Melissa Etheridge sings, for your mother, your sister, your wife.

Kat - Sounds like a great day. I"m so glad you're there, enjoying yourself. :goodvibes

I'm on AIM, just hiding from work people. Get on and I'll find you.

:jumping1:

Ok, so I know those bouncy guys are just a tad annoying....but I'm excited! I did it! At least I *think* I did...(hmmmm...flashback....turn back to the teenage years...wait...TMI)

No really. I think I successfully added AIM. So. How will ya'll know if I was successful?

headed to sleepy-time now...but hopefully will catch you all tomorrow night...

My screen name is (oh god - I hope I'm right!) mtspringfarm ('cause our farm is...well, Mountain Spring Farm... )

So far we went an looked at Norwich University (Vermont) - totally military. We loved it. Just a *tad* extreme for me personally - I'm waaaayyyy to chatty. They'd toss me out after 15 minutes  But the programs are incredible - and just what he wants.

So - did you notice a theme here? He is definitely going ROTC - went and had his physical last week (all by himself I must add. All the way to the *big* city of Springfield, Mass. WITHOUT me. I cried. Honestly. He doesn't need me anymore....sad and satisfying at the same time, ya know? :sad1: )

It's been really difficult finding schools that match his particular criteria. Small to medium school, rural/suburban, ROTC, and Architecture/Civil Engineering/Construction Design & Management....not really a typical "major", but some schools allow for "custom degrees", so that's what he's looking for. And he doesn't want one of the "technical" colleges like RPI, Wentworth or Worcester...and he doesn't want to go too far from home. VMI and Penn State are a real stretch in the "distance" requirement...

We get to go to "Senior Planning Night" soon and learn all about the FAFSA forms, etc., etc.

totally stressful....:headache:

Um hello..... you have an architect / construction manager on this board in me.... give me a shout if you or your son have any questions.... I know some folks who graduated from Norwich's architecture program (non military students though) and have a cousin who graduated from the military side, but non architecture. I also live all of about 30 minutes from RPI (great engineering program, but not my first choice for architecture). I graduated from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and they have both arch and CM, but I am not sure how their ROTC program is doing. PM me and I'll send you my phone number and we can chat about what to expect, career options, etc.

I'm here.... I just got slammed at work this morning (more like b*atch slapped). I am still working trying to get this report settled for one of my projects. I figure if I can get to sleep by 2:00AM tonight, I'll be doing good (still have to be in by 7:30 though). Tomorrow night will be an early one for me - that's for sure....

I did get to my JC appointment though (it was tonight due to yesterday's holiday). I lost .5 pounds this week. I had hurt my knee golfing last weekend so I couldn't exercise as much as I wanted, but I am feeling much better now and am starting my routine again tomorrow night. I am also signing up for my water aerobics class again and that starts in two weeks. I wanted to do something for me and that was it. I enjoy the time in the pool and feel better having worked out so one for me... right...

LOVE it!

I'm on AIM, just hiding from work people. Get on and I'll find you.

OK - I have to add that I am of the large foot group with whopping size 10s that are wide. I am seriously longing for a pair of tall riding style boots that will actually fit my calfs that don't cost a small fortune. That is my can't wait for it moment - buying a pair of tall boots off the rack that fit...

Liz - we can so talk purses... I may not own many high end ones myself, but my aunt sure does. She has always carried Louis Vuitton or Gucci. During, my last visit to her house, the closet in her guest room had them all lined up on the shelf. I ran out of fingers counting them all..... I had total purse envy....

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been reading and laughing along with all of you. Hopefully, things will quiet down soon at work and I can jump in the pool again...

have a great night,
Paula

When you say Durham, I think MY Durham!!

AIM = AOL Instant Messaging. We all head over there for instant chatting. It's a way to "talk", uncensored, and privately. Whereas on the DIS it's slow, censored and open for public consumption.

When we all actually get to meet up and have a big chat, it is HI LAR IOUS and crazy. The last time we ranted about politics and The Duggers http://www.duggarfamily.com/navbar/images/header.gif That's all I'm gonna say, cause what happens at AIM stays at AIM.

Since summer, our AIM time has seriously taken a hit. And I miss alot of fun, cause I have to go to bed at a decent hour if I am gonna exercise in the morning. AIM usually takes place late and goes on for hours. It is serious fun.

We are here you just have to stay up with us!!! LATE!!!

If you download AIM to your computer and get a log in name (hint, they are all taken, think WAY outside the box) pm us with it. I don't personally post my AIM name here, cause if your not me, you are on a need to know basis.:rotfl:

Sorry I screwed that up. Must have Zac on the brain.

That is OK I do have a LOT of kids well not as many as those we talk about on AIM

We are a low maintenance crowd. No worries. If you don't make an appearance every now and then, we'll come looking for you.
We will search for YA!:lmao:

:rotfl:

Listen to this...remember Molli's bike was screwed up last week. And my sister and I fought it and fought it.

Well, hubby was in the office yesterday and I said, "Hey take a look at this. There is something wrong."

And before I could say anything else, he says, "Well the handlebars are all the way turned around, that's your first problem."

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TELLING YOU? My one and only problem is I am an idiot. The freaking handle bars were completely, 360 degrees, turned around. The cables were all bound up. That is why the bike wouldn't roll. And we took it out like that and didn't even realize it!

Of course, I found it hysterical. He was shocked at my lack of common sense (ok, alpha dog).

All for now. Reading all day for me.

all I can say is OMFG!!! I laughed so hard because it was something I would so totally do!!!

Liz, you are too much! No, I totally don't match my socks and underwear to my outfits. My socks are all white. And my undies are just basic. Nothing special.
Ok who's the freak here I totally match my socks to my clothes If I don't they pick on me at work. YES ISSUES AND I AM A FREAK!!!!!

I've heard southern women, I guess the proper term would be "Belles", match, daily, their bra's and panties. I don't know about you guys, but, I don't buy sets and I have WAY more undies than I do bras.

I so used to do this and I so can't wait to lose this weight so I can do it again!!!!!

Hey...just cause we support liquor (as opposed to licker Steph ;) ) for those that like it...it doesn't mean they are alcoholics...they are simply lushes....
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I like to lick... Then shake... and LICK again... Then down a shot! I am talking TEQUILA HERE!!! SO GET YOU MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER

Yes, I am a lush. Hey, I'm good at it! ME TOO!

Lyz and Dawn - no all my sets don't match up. But I do have a hierarchy of undies - the good ones, the okay ones, the ones I don't like and only wear for TOM or as spares. Doesn't anyone else have this? Come on! I can't be the only one! So I pick out the good ones, match 'em up with bras for vacay, and pack that way. I like the matchy matchy. Not that anyone sees them but me.

Wow, it's really "let my freak flag fly" day, isn't it?
Ok I have my work granny panties and then I have my feeling sexy work bikini's and then I have I need to wear something out panties and hell for the most part I don't do them at all...TMI yeah WTMI

Oh, nice. New undies! I want to wait till goal and buy matching sets. That's my dream. Matching sets. Sad, no?
Not sad !!!! GREAT GOAL!!!

Bush gave you money for new undies for your bu.....I mean er um.... shrubbery...:lmao:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Ok peed myself almost on that one!!!!

Good Evening Ladies!

I am just going to have to waste more time at work if I want to keep up with this thread!!!

Lucky you they took our internet away from us!! they suck so bad!!!!

I think that's all from me tonight! Have a good night ladies!

I am so going to print that out and make it!! OH I can see it now MOJITO'S and the POOL next summer!!! OH LYZ where are you going to be??? My house right!!! To bad you are how many hours away???
