In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

One more thing, Steph and Erica, the NB outlet in Skowhegan is having its annual tent sale that is over on the 17th. They have everything 20% off (shoes, clothes, water bottles, bags, etcetera). Lots of kids shoes and adult shoes at really discounted prices. My SIL scored a pair of Zips for $27. Just a little FYI and a tidbit to lure you closer to me!!!!! :goodvibes

Stephanie, I am in Norridgewock, about 20 minutes from Waterville. WTH are you headed to Albion for????? lol Sunday we are headed to North Conway, NH (of course) but I have Wednesdays off if you want to hook up for a coffee somewhere!! My DD13 has field hockey camp from 8:30 to 10 a.m. but after that I am free!!

My dad move to Albion:confused3 from Mass to please his GF. She likes it up and there and her sister on one of her kids lived up there somewhere. I know Albion is like in the middle of NO WHERE! Actually the people we are buying our house from are originally from Waterville.
AS for Wednesday we will be back here in cow country Dh has to work at 3 a.m on wednesday and I at 230 p.m. But you have fun shopping in NORTH CONWAY!

Wow so close and still cannot hook up. We have gymnastics on Tuesday evenings and soccer on Monday evenings. Too bad I cannot find a way!!

I cannot cast any judgments, I live on 125 acres in Norridgewock, Maine for cripes sake! Middle of nowhere is what I call home too. Our closest Wal-Mart 10 miles as is the grocery store. Sometimes I miss the city but most of the time I enjoy the quiet. We have cross country ski trails that my FIL personally grooms just for us in the winter right outside my door. My kids can play outside and I don't have to watch them constantly as we are 600 feet off the road. There are great bonuses to living in the middle of nowhere....however, on the down side of it, I spend a lot of time at home (work at home, etcetera) and I don't get to socialize much. Thank goodness for the gym and the DIS!!

I am right there with you I live in the middle of now where too. I live ten miles to the canadian border and I too am miles from a store including
Wal-mart that is 20 miles for us.
We live on a farm right now and have a huge back yard so I can let the kids out, but we are really close to the road. We are currently buying a house in the village, walking distance to the school and close to the kids friends well my DD14's friends.

:goodvibes Hi all my sexy mamas..and one very sexy dude...

I am inside due to a downpour...not fun..then off to conferences today from 3-6 and dinner from 6-8 and then we are free again...

Tom is a loooong day...I will try and post but no promises....Sat till 2 and then pool and then City Walk....so a bit o fun...

I actually am beginning to worry about my health again...I am not keeping food down at all...within 10 minutes of eating it is in and out...either via one direction or the other...

Calling Dr back home as we speak...and I feel fine...drinking tons of water..no flu like symptoms...but food is not my friend...and it was turkey dinner last night...salad at lunch today...so not greasy food...sometimes when my kidneys ar not working...they cannot proccess what I eat and it says get me out of here....

Carsyn texted me at 2:30 last night...to say she was in my office...watching the Olympics :happytv: (the girl as a spreadsheet on the Olympics and says we are headed to London in 2012...) and a bat flew in the office!:scared1:

She said she was sitting in my chair..heard clicking sounds...and russling of paper...and turned...and saw a huge black wing flapping...she bolted...down to her room...and as of a few minutes ago...the bat is yet to be found...

I may be a wee bit glad I am not there to deal with that! :lmao:

I am reading all...

Liz - if she is remembering to not use her hands..she is improving cause there ar some 17 year old girls I know that still do!

Kids are about fun...and if she is having fun...likes going...then she is great! I remember the biggest thing when the kids started was...who is bringing snacks and what will it be!

Hey all--last post before I head out.

LISA--we will be somewhat near you. Going up to Flagstaff (in the Bigelow range). We camp 20 miles in on one of the old logging roads on Flagstaff lake. (Not at an actual campgrounds...just in the woods on the edge of the lake. You know, REAL camping...:lmao: )

DH is from near Augusta (Winthrop) and we are in the middle of buying a camp in the Belgrade lakes region, so we are in those areas frequently. We will HAVE to get together at some point.

Ok, just so as not to turn this in to the MAINE thread...:rotfl2: ...great work-out today. Feel really good. And I think I am very well set up for food for camping. This is my biggest challenge because for us, camping and massive eating go hand in hand. But I planned and prepped all meals, so I am feeling pretty good.

Have a fantastic week-end everyone. Off to be Nature Girl. :goodvibes

/
Erika, have a GREAT time!!

Lisa, it sounds like you are another Erika-style superwoman! Wow, that is a lot of running.

Dawn, hope you feel better soon.

Steph, you're a nut!

I head to OBX after work tomorrow and will be there until Sunday night. My dad says there is a wireless access point, so I should be online some.

I got my email and such set up at the new job today. I have been gradually informing folks around here, although the official announcement won't happen until tomorrow. It feels really good to be shedding this place. I know that there will be new challenges where I am going, and I will miss some of the folk here, but man I will NOT miss the nights, weekends, commute, or evil-witch-women.

And... T-14 days until WDW!!!!

Hi all....

I didn't really fall off the face of the earth... but my world did get a bit upended yesterday and today. The big project that they wanted me to stay put and get off the ground bid yesterday and was a whopping 65% over budget. They are not going to award it and have no plans to do anything with it for a while (think a year at least). So, I am trying not to get too hung up in the what the hell am I going to do now phase and focus on the work at hand. I'll keep you all posted on what is going on, but I'll admit that I am a little freaked by all of this.

On top of all of that, my home computer crapped out on me last night. I have to bring it to the Geek Squad this weekend and hope that it can be salvaged....

I am off to my exercise class tonight so that should give me some much needed down time...

Talk to you all soon,
Paula

PS - the new rain coat arrives tomorrow... just in time for the next round of rain...

I am off to make sure the house is in tip top shape and we will be leaving in the am
BYe!

I think the "X" is for the ks in Outer Banks. Not sure though, but that is what they use around here to refer to it.

10 more days...

Hi guys! Just a quick post to say I am home. I am in need of a shower and a nap. Have I ever mentioned I HATE being trapped in a car for more than 2? I'm alittle crazed!

I'll be on later this evening to offer sarcastic commentary on all your lives and give you the rundown on mine. And if I'm really feeling up to it, pictures (that will bore you to tears, but we're friends, so you have to look.;) )

Lyz - I am DYING for pictures! whee!!!!!!

How is everyone's weekend going? My HS BFF is in town - she lives in NYC but we don't hang a lot unless she is home. "home" is her sister's across the street from me, so it's very cool when she is there - we get to hang with her AND our neighbors, her family. I have a great story about last night, I will post pics, too.

DAWN - how are you feeling???? I hope you are taking care of yourself and making notes so you can tell your dr. Your health is the MOST important thing! Take care of yourself, girl.

Also, thank you. Your comment about 17 yr olds not remembering not to use their hands just put my dad's insanity in perspective for me. I started to breathe again, so THANK YOU.

Ok, missing you guys so I will be back, checking in more as of RIGHT NOW!!!!

Well, everything is taken care of. Job that I want has been officially accepted, jobs I don't want have been officially notified, and work has been officially notified that I am gone as of Aug 29th.

My boss was very nice about all of it, and said the door is always open here to me.

Yaaat Kat! That's great you are officially not "stuck" anymore. Glad you boss is being good about this also.

Lyz - tell us more about this trip! no mention at all! Are the kids going? How long will you be gone?

I'll post about that in a minute.

Okay, my dad just told me that my four year old - yes, FOUR - is not as good as the other kids at her soccer camp, and I shouldn't be disappointed if she gets cut....

OMG. This is a four year old soccer thing. It's for fun. Like, seriously? She's behind the other kids? She's FOUR. There are no cuts for four, and I wouldn't put her in something competitive at four anyway. For the love of Pete. Someone, please tell me this is insanity.

He shouldn't be saying that. He's probably thinking he's being helpful, but he's a man, and therefore deals in logic, relationships - not so much.

So - Monday....I'll be back...hope ya'll are well...

Sounds crazy at your end. Try to have fun too. See you Monday.

and my mother and I are going shopping at the Outlet Mall nearby this weekend to find something as a gift for me, and then, a little of my country side is coming out, we're going to the Wyco Fair to watch the Truck Pull, your jealous, shoot, don't lie :)

Ohhh, whatcha get?

Ummmm, jealous:lmao: . I've gone to many a tractor pull in my day, husband is a real motor head. Thankfully this year, we ran out of time. We were "lucky" enough to see the motorcross on Friday and we NEVER miss the demolition derby Saturday night. (I people watch. I forgot how many people smoke. Ohio passed a law last year, no smoking inside anywhere. Which we LOVE, and I kinda forgot, till we got to the DD, and OMG, everyone was smoking.)

Good morning everyone! Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I am trying to get at least one post a day in on this thread. You all are so sweet!

Goody. New blood.

Today we pick Riley up! I am so excited and missed him so much!

Ohh, . Hope Riley had the Best Time Ever.

LYZ--please tell me you brought your laptop on this trip?!?!? I mean, we heard nothing about it, got no notice, and then you just leave us. Jeez! :rotfl2:

I did take laptop, and read, but no time for posting.

STACEY--once every couple of days is not acceptable! :lmao:

Agreed. Stacey, get your priorities in order. Cyber friends take precidence.

YES I HAVE CONTROL ISSUES!:rotfl2:

Me too mama. But I don't do ALL the driving.

Our closest Wal-Mart 10 miles as is the grocery store.

I am right there with you I live in the middle of now where too. I live ten miles to the canadian border and I too am miles from a store including
Wal-mart that is 20 miles for us.

So is the icecream melting by the time ya'll get home?

I actually am beginning to worry about my health again...I am not keeping food down at all...within 10 minutes of eating it is in and out...either via one direction or the other...

Calling Dr back home as we speak...and I feel fine...drinking tons of water..no flu like symptoms...but food is not my friend...and it was turkey dinner last night...salad at lunch today...so not greasy food...sometimes when my kidneys ar not working...they cannot proccess what I eat and it says get me out of here....

Dawn - give us an update.

Scary about the bat. I'd freak out! Seriously!

Where is Jodi? She ok?

(Not at an actual campgrounds...just in the woods on the edge of the lake. You know, REAL camping...:lmao: )

If that's what you want to call it. (I call it MANY other things.)

Kat, how are coworkers taking the news? (probably jelous.)

... but my world did get a bit upended yesterday and today. The big project that they wanted me to stay put and get off the ground bid yesterday and was a whopping 65% over budget. They are not going to award it and have no plans to do anything with it for a while (think a year at least). I GUESS SO! Construction is so up and down, isn't it? Definatly not for the faint of heart.

Ok, missing you guys so I will be back, checking in more as of RIGHT NOW!!!!

 Miss you too. You're calendar has been jam packed full lately.

Go M. Phelps. Watching the O-lympics.

I know! I have decided that Phelps is NOT too young for me...he is totally worth an exception to the ten year rule!

Ten years up, ten years down...a girl's gotta have standards, even if they are just for my fantasies!

My life...

We got the hogs in April. Haven't, (or at least me) hasn't gotten to get away. Bob and I tentatively talked about going to Gatlinburg the week after the fair. Just to get away before school starts, and I hadn't been for about 5 years.

Why Gatlinburg, you say? I have a theory. Families either vacation or they don't. My husband and I both grew up in vacationing familys. And in our childhood, both of us spent many vacations in Gatlinburg. We have alot of good memories. Separately and together. It's a place you love or hate. There is no middle ground. I don't recommend it, cause people come home and look at you like your nuts. I don't go for the nature or mountain ranges. If you haven't figured it out, that's not the way I roll. I am more interested in shopping and eating.

So...the trip after the fair got canceled cause Bob was supposed to leave for Texas last week. When that didn't happen, we decided to leave Thursday night, AFTER he got a C/O for a current job. I was working toward leaving Thursday evening. But nothing was official.

Wednesday, 2 pm, he calls and says let's leave by 4! I was floored.

I hadn't made paychecks, would have to get some bills together before I left town, had to make plans for Molli (who chose not to go, she had a jr high kickoff at school) and Marvin (the epileptic dog), seriously had a shortage of clean clothes that I would choose to wear and well lets just say I was completely frazzled.

Here is what I forgot to pack:

-my cell phone charger. This is important, no?
-shampoo. I can use the hotels, except it's pantene and everyone knows pantene screws your hair.
-lotion. I have a serious addiction to lotion. Specifically from B & B Works. I'm not a snob. I've tried the Walmart brand a few times. Nothing, NOTHING, makes my skin feel just right, as B & B lotion. (currently I have a "thing" for cotton. Mmmmm, smells so clean.)
-a new razor. The razor in my travel bag is about 4 shaves past expiration. Yuck.

Here is how I "managed"
-my phone never died. I love that phone.
-pantene. Will use cleansing shampoo this week. 'nuff said.
-ohh this is the worst. The only thing resembling lotion I had in my travel kit was a gold bond tube with aloe, that I probably got in my stocking from my MIL and put in there for sunburn relief. I only used on my legs and it was horrific.
-my legs are nicked up. $%^# razor.

Why didn't I go to the Walmart? Well these things were not considered "priority" and Walmart was WAAAAAY out of the way. But I digress.

We went to Dollywood on Thursday. It was quaint.

Oh, I met some cast members there. I was wearing my Spanish "please stand clear of the doors" tshirt I got at WDW and a couple asked when I had gone to WDW? I said, well, I go all the time. They are seasonal cast members at DHS, Extreme Stunt Show. Just work seasonally for the perks. We had a good chat.

(Funny thing was, Bob told me I "couldn't" wear a WDW t-shirt to Dollywood that morning, and I was like, "'cuse me, got to represent.")

Dollywood - glad I went, no need to go back.

We had dinner at (you'll love this Liz) Bubba Gump Shrimp. And breakfast at the Pancake Pantry. That was the highlight. (Oh and the skylift ride up the mountain. That's always fun. If a little nerve racking.)

Friday, we went to the outlet malls, took a helicopter tour, and the Dixie Stampede for dinner.

The best part was, and you guys will be proud of me. We went swimming both days. Madeline was in heaven. I wore my bikini. (It's really a tankini, but I've gained so much weight since I bought it in 2005:rotfl:, Bob and I were laughing and calling it my bikini.) Swimming was so fun. I was all about the O-lympics and swimming laps. It was exhausing and I felt so good.

(Oh, and I met a woman at the pool, who was on her way to Disney with her family for the first time. Polynesian. 7 days. From Michigan. I didn't hold that against her.:rotfl: We chatted a bunch. )

Left at 6 this moring to come home.

We had a very good time. It was great to get away. Except for the drive. I hate the drive. HATE IT. Almost not worth it. 6 hours. Which is 5 hours too much.

Wednesday night, I almost hit a deer, at 70 mph.

And today I got pulled over for speeding. No ticket thank goodness. Just a request to slow down. Which I promply did.:goodvibes Who am I to fight with the law.

I think that's ALL the highlights.

And I'm only down 3 ozs. I'll take it. Better than posting +.03.
