In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

The guy that got killed was a friend of the kids from when they were little and my mothers neighbor. He was 16 years old and had just got his drivers license 3 months ago. I guess he hit a snow drift and lost control of the car and hit a truck head on. I haven't seen any of the papers and it hasn't been on the news But the kids are devastated, he was in my nephews class and I think all of the older kids in the family knew him, Sam skated with him and his sister and Nate did boys scouts with him. So it will be a tough few days for us. So thoughts and prayers for the family.

I'm so sorry :grouphug: It's sooo hard when the kids get their license..and that's just a parents worst nightmare :sad1:

Morning! I have Cammie home with me today. She just wanted a personal day, so I let her take it. (Yes, I give my kids "personal days"...I mean, as adults we desperately need one from time to time, so why wouldn't our kids?)

I'm still waiting for my "personal day" :rotfl: Monday. Next Monday. Regular day at school for everyone.....have fun together

Just got a text from Lyz (she's at the hospital with Alison). Heading into surgery shortly, but everyone is fine and in good spirits right now. She'll text me again once the surgery is complete.

They're in my thoughts..
DAWN--I believe Nancy called you out yesterday. I told you I wouldn't throw down with her! :rotfl2:

yes...and I'm waiting...:confused3

Nancy--anymore hip hop for you?

Not lately. But dang I have a funny dance story - no time right now. Later. Promise

It was so nice even with the snow I shoveled with a t-shirt on, everyone else hat on hats and gloves ski pants Nope not I, I was out in t-shirt and jeans! 30 degrees is a HUGE difference from -25.

musta felt like a HEATWAVE :cool1: It's been much more tolerable here lately....and Friday? I think it may even approach 40* not supposed to stay warm long - but I'll take it when I can!!

So Erika for the challenge I am down 3 pound total from the first of January!

:cheer2: :cheer2: YAY STEPH! That's awesome. You big loser, you! :goodvibes

Off to Costco. :crazy2: hopefully there will be no samples!

:

Have a 'date' this weekend. Not really, but I am lucky enough to have a dear guy friend who is runs a service dept for a local car dealership. I desperately need a brake job and he is going to take care of it if I fix him some grub. That's a price I am willing to pay! Who says bartering doesn't exist any more?

Hey I barter for daycare all the time. I have one parent that works at Embassy Suites and so far have two nights free stay because she needed one more day of care and didn't think she could afford to pay! I also have had carpets put in for daycare! That was really nice!!!

Not much new here. We are finally able to get outside this week -- love that! It's close to 30 degrees here today!

I am going to weigh-in tonight - wish me luck. I think I lost again but I haven't been exercising nearly as much as I should. I just can't find the time - between work, kids, churc and activities --- I can't find any time to get away and work out. I haven't been sleeping very well and can't get myself up from the bed in the early am to do it either. 4:45 am is just so flippin' early! It's still dark out!

Have to go outside now! Have a good day! I will report back tonight when I get my new results to the new me! Now if the new me could just figure out a workout time - I'd be happy!
Happy Wednesday! ~ Jena

Morning all!

Lyz-Lots of prayers for your sister. :goodvibes

Erika-You are such a cool mom letting Cammie have a personal day! DH and I are actually both going to do C25K. He told me he wants to do a 5K! :cool1: This will be good competition for me. I know he is faster than me without any training so it will be good motivation. I also find I lose more weight when I do the intervals like they do in C25K as compared to when I am just running with few or no walk breaks. I plan on really cranking up the speed this time around though.

Steph-nice to see you back! And WTG on the weight loss!

Speaking of running and getting outside..OMG it is freaking cold here. Please don't laugh. It won't even hit fifty here. I live in pinellas county, which is the little county that sticks out in the water about halfway down the west coast of FL, and because of all the water we are surrounded by, we hardly ever get frosts. But it is going to frost here tonight. :scared1: Our garage, where our TM is so cold. So, I am probably going to shred today instead. I am such a cold baby. I admit it. My abs are so sore from what I did yesterday. Which I think is a good thing.

I plan on copying my sparkpeople page and posting here as much as possible...easier than retyping plus some of you may learn things from what I eat that you did not know...totally helped knowing I had to face Nancy :scared: so thanks for helping me be accountable...;)

This will be basically a journal also to myself...a realization of what went well and what did not...

Breakfast:
Milk, 2%, 0.25 cup - 31 calories
Wheaties Cereal, 1 cup (1 serving) - 107 calories

Lunch:

Boca Lasagna, 1 serving 290 calories
Bread, french or vienna (includes sourdough), 1 slice, medium (4" x 2-1/2" x 1-3/4") - 175 calories
Butter, salted, 1 tbsp - 102 calories

Dinner:

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner, 1 Serving (makes about 1 cup prepared) - 410 calories

Snacks:
Boca Original Chickn patties, 1 serving - 160 calories
Tomatoes, red, ripe, raw, year round average, 1 large whole (3" dia) - 38 calories
Betty Crocker Super Moist German Chocolate cake (serving 1/12 of a cake), 1 serving - 270 calories
Betty Crocker Coconut Pecan frosting (2 tbsp./ serving) - 140 calories
Soup, pea, green, canned, prepared with equal volume water, commercial, 1 cup - 165 calories
Natural Almonds, 1 serving (2 tbsp) - 190 calories

What I ate vs What I should stay between to loose weight according to spark people:

CALORIES : 2,077 vs 1,200 - 1,550
CARBS: 257 vs 135 - 252
FAT: 61 vs 27 - 60
PROTEIN: 69 vs 60 - 136

#1 Over in calories...mac n cheese has got to go...but as I ate blindly...(Treyner's girlfriend Carly was here...had a wisdom tooth pulled and asked me to make her some) ...served myself some...then went to put it in...realised what I was eating and how not worth it it was...I put what was left in the bowl...in the trash...so I did eat about 3/4 of a serving I guess...but I counted the whole thing since I did not measure....very proud of myself in that regard though...

#2 Totally was not hungry when I ate the almonds...good choice...just not the room for it in the day's plan...again..plan...need to have a clue...

#3 I made brownies, banana bread and german chocolate cake yesterday...in a baking mood...and at 10 p.m....caved and had a corner of a pan...realistically about a 2x3 size...glad I had it...glad I stopped at only a few forks of it...and did notice my craving was gone...got a smattering...and was satisfied...the way they measure it is only 12 servings for a pan...I know that I cut the pieces smaller than that...so it was informative to know again...how they measure size...sometimes it is in your favor...and sometimes not...but accountability was good... The amount of calories I accouted for the piece was probably fair though...all things considered...since I know I had a 1x1 inch piece that fell off the banana bread and a sliver of brownie...again...really think tht it would be interesting to putthose morsels into a zip lock next week and ee just how much ya graze on without thinking...

As far as the rest of the totals...I feel pretty good since they are not way over and I had been in the fat department (:lmao: ) even when I stayed within the calorie range...so overall...good day...not great...but good...

Excersize: Moved furniture for 3 hours, painted and re-arranged things....gotta count for something....

today...dropped kids off so I had a car...heading to the Y at 1:00...by myself...and may go back later for more with Dan and kids....

Ok, Dawn. You asked for it. I have no trouble callin' you out!!!

:lmao:

Please do..I promise to get it posted the next morning...nights have been hard to get on this past few days...kids have all the computers for finals...and Dan and I are commiting nightly to home projects so this house is ready for a graduation party in June. Finishing one room at a time and our bedroom was done last night...looks beautiful...nothing new purchased...just moved pieces of art etc I had form other areas of the house...the master bedroom is one of the smaller bedrooms...but the kids had more toys etc when they were little so there rooms stay put for now...then when Treyner leaves next summer...Baylor moving downstairs to Treyner's room...Baylor's room will either become a guest room or...long term goal...tear apart the wall adjoining my office to Baylor's room for a much larger bedroom and closet space...but that means no bathroom attached...so do I care...hmmm...:confused3 that is the question...

Just checking in.

Watch out, Dawn...Nancy is on it! I'd be running scared if I were you! :lmao: I mean, I wouldn't want to throw down with Nancy! :scared: I'm just sayin'...
No joke...she is fierce!:thumbsup2
Paula! WOW! Goddess crown! You have posted a loss like...4 weeks in a row now? ON IT!
Totally...she better be practicing her queen wave...:wave2:

RPI is an awesome engineering school - one of the best in the area. It is very difficult to get into and the hockey program is even harder to get into. The fact that your nephew got into both is a huge accomplishment.

Let me know if you need any info on the area.

Paula
One of my best guy friends went there on a full ride...played water polo...and then drank his way out of there his second year...now...20 years later...he still says that screwing up that portion of his life is his biggest regret...funny how many of us have a connection to that college...:upsidedow
Amy, SUCH a cute picture!!
You need to post them daily...brightens up the place!
Nancy, I have a feeling my snow day is different than yours. Mine includes a 22 oz beer and this (yes, this is my patio, from about 30 min ago):

IMG_2185-1.jpg
Beautiful and not fair...I don't think a Hello Kitty wade pool would look the same in my back yard!
Hey E, just imagine if it were 75 where you were? You would totally be taking pics of you and yours in bathing suits at the beach in Jan. Just sayin'. ;)
I know I have a pic somewhere of Treyner and his grade school best friend Cory that Cory's mom took...of them shoveling snow...in boots, a hat and sweats on...no shirts...cause it was 45 degrees in Feb. one year...HILARIOUS...need to find that one for the picture boards for his grad party...

[Ok...that was me. DAWN...time to hear from you sweetheart. You wanted accountablity...so....SPILL IT! ;) ....time step into the confessional, dear. Let's hear it all...the good, the bad...the ugly....whatever it was.

Yes mam...your kinda sexy when you are barking orders at me:rotfl2:

...cause I read it like you are a drill sgt....green camo and all...
:mic:

Just posting since I just did level 2 of the shred! OMG. Jillian said we should feel like we're going to die and that is exactly how I felt! :scared1: :scared1: I had been doing level 1, but doing level 2 today was my punishment for wimping out and running in the cold. The walk out push ups and plank jacks were killer.

Hey all--ok, important stuff first.

Heard from Lyz. Her sister is out of surgery and resting in her room. All went very well and things look good. There are more operations to come, but this one was a success. Phew.

My day--currently at 400 calories (I need to start low, because my eating frenzy begins around 4pm, so I have to have enough calories left to get me through that...:rotfl2: ).

Exercise - 75 minutes on the elliptical. 4 miles. I just stopped eventually out of boredom. Really, I am still not convinced that I get much out of that. My heart rate is up the entire time, though, and I sweat like crazy, so I am definitely working. I just feel like I could do it forever. :confused3

Core--not done yet, but I plan to do it this evening. So if I don't post about it, call me on it. Paula, you are pinch-hitting for Lyz. :rotfl2:

Dawn--switching teams, are ya? Nancy...you better watch it! Or I can send in Wonder Woman again. :lmao:

You're right - mac 'n cheese isn't typically *worth it*...but it's oh so tempting!

YAY for Amy!!! :cool1:

Just got back from Costco - and I'm proud to report I ate NOT ONE single sample. Nothin'. I even ran into one of my GF's...and said..."um, 'scuse me? What's that sample you're eating?" :confused3 She promptly ditched it :rotfl2: That place can be pure evil

I used to like the elliptical...but the one at the Y does not have adjustable leg things...and I feel super akward on them...:confused3

You said that Nancy was sexy as a drill sarge. So I said it sounds like you are switching teams. In which case, I will have to send in Wonder Woman (to protect Nancy, not tempt you! :rotfl2: :lmao: )

Oh my Gosh...I am LMAO and so glad I asked...cause it was too funny to miss out on...my head is clouded with too much garbage right now...need to get it in funny mode...thanks for the laugh...

And no...I like my team to have a bat...not a glove...!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:  ;) ::yes:: :smokin: :crowded:

:lmao: It's funny. You act kinda excited that it was a snow day. As long as it doesn't hang around, right? Loved the pics.

I was excited! We don't ever get snow and it is always nice to have a couch/pjs day unexpectedly in the middle of the week. It is already mostly melted and should be totally gone by mid-day on Friday.

I know that E and others like to laugh at us and our excitement and pictures and such, but it really would be like a 70-80 degree day in the middle of Jan for most of you (other than Amy). We will likely only see our yards covered in snow once every 5 years or so, if that. The novelty of it breaks up the monotony.

I am so envious of your hot tub.

I am stoked ~ just found a new Boca burger flavor at my local store tonight. Mozzerella Mushroom. Yum! Can't wait to try it tomorrow.

Thanks! And I LOVE the Boca Mozzarella Mushroom. I am far from a vegetarian but that flavor comes across very well and only 100 cals!

SO glad that the surgery went well!!

You're right - mac 'n cheese isn't typically *worth it*...but it's oh so tempting!

I love mac&cheese. If you buy the Kraft Spirals version and make it with a few sprays of butter spray and water rather than the butter and milk, half the box is only about 260 cals. An acceptable amount for a side, and it makes quite a bit.

Mac and Cheese - We have it here, I won't lie. Like Kat, I look around and find the ones that work for me. I buy Annie's Organic because it's low in fat and calories and doesn't have anything scary in it to make up for the fat/calories. There are many Annie's types, mine is in a blue box. Just read labels and find one you like.

Costco - I totally count my samples. I give them points values and everything. Or, I go after 3pm, when the sample people are gone. But if it's lunch time, I count them.

I really believe you can make anything work if you want it.

Each of us might give some things up - movie theater popcorn, soda, etc, but you can always find a way to make it work if you really want it. Like, if I really wanted a Twinkie, and believe me, I have not wanted a Twinkie in like 25 years, but if I did, I'd go out, buy one Twinkie, track it (3pts), eat it. If I want chocolate covered pretzels, I go to the chocolate shop in town, where they make them fresh every day, buy some dark chocolate ones, and mark each one down for 3 pts. They are so worth the 3pts. The trick is really to love what you're eating and not mindlessly eat. I can gorge on 100 cal foods if I really want something else, and still not be satisfied.

Glad to hear Allison is doing well. Love good news!

Steph, great job on the loss!!!

Erika - thank you so much for the update.

Lyz - :grouphug:. Thinking of you all day. Glad to hear that's Alison's surgery went well. Oh boy - big day. Still thinking of you.

Never been to Costco but it sounds like SAMS...what's the difference?

True said Fred...splurging on an enjoyable food is much better than starving through grbage that just keeps you wanting more and not be satisfied...
Steph, great job on the loss!!!
Yeah Steph!!:wave2:

Steph, great job on the loss!!!

I'll go further. One can eat anything and still lose weight and not track. Cause I have.

Sometimes I think about shutting up because I don't want anyone to feel like I'm saying it's the ohly way. When we are all individuals. And then I snap out of that because everyone else talks about what works for them. Big deal for me to push through my thoughts being equal. Big deal.

Not downing tracking as I've said many times before. It helps me not to just like it helps others to.

Not surmising anything about the last 10 pounds before I get there.

Not saying I don't eat healthy in general cause I do. But I will only eat food I adore. Love. I could take or leave ice cream, pie, pop so rarely. Hate asaragus and brussel sprouts so would never eat them. It goes for both sides of the healthy/unhealhty. Just try to consciously eat and avoid emotional eating - which I obviously fail at sometimes.

Okay - done. I'm very angry this week. Very. No story. Just angry. Hence the two-three day emotional eating.

Thanks everyone. I stopped it on Sunday night. And I did something that does deserve a goddess crown, so thank you Liz, I said, "Lisa - for whatever reason you don't have control over emotions/emotional eating right now. But you do over exercise and water." So I listened to myself. :lmao: I'm laughing. I don't know why that makes me laugh. Anyway, I exercised throughout and drank my water throughout. I did what I could control and let go of what I felt I couldn't.

Also, thank you to Erika. Your voice got me right online - right away when you said we shouldn't avoid here when we're struggling. Right away and that made a huge difference for me. So thanks.

And thanks for all your support.

And thanks for you wishes for Jean. She is on cloud nine.

Kat - loved the hot tub picture.

Amy - my parents are in St. Pete's. So are they freezing their butts off? My dad will still have shorts on for sure. You are on the Gulf side, eh? I should go check.

Erika - Steven Speilberg says one of the most pivotal moments of his life was that his mother would let him stay home from school for "home" days. To shoot some movies sometimes.

Lisa - I totally get what you are saying. Totally. And yes, you get a Tiara. That's all I'm qualified to give. ;) Goddesses are Erika's department.

There is no bad food, there is no bad way - there's just what works and what doesn't. Studies show tracking works for weight loss, studies show exercise works to maintain loss. Studies show people with healthier diets have healthier lives. But there are exceptions to the "rules" which aren't rules anyway.

Tracking works for me, because it makes me eat mindfully, and makes me confront my emotional eating. I have never once given up McDonald's but I don't eat it every day. I will probably never give up anything forever, except sex with men besides my husband. Cause that was a non-negotiable. :lmao:

I try to do what you do, Lisa. Eat what I love, and be mindful. Again, tracking helps me be mindful. And things go in cycles, so we try to keep spinning along!
