Steph - okay ghost story.
You know what was great about my sister and the house - she never told us. She allowed us to feel it and ask her WTH. So we experienced things without any preconceived thoughts. Actually, I was only a teenager so who knows what I thought anyway before I experienced it. All things can have some sort of explanation but I'll tell you it was haunted 100%.
So here's the scoop -
She had a pool table put all the balls away they would hear smacking and go down all of them would be out. Actually she had a partner then and they would argue about who didn't put them away. No kids old enough, at that time, to do it. You'd be sitting and things would just start playing. Like those creepy wind up clown thingys. Yeah, she had one. Connie, my niece who is 27 this year, was a like one or two and couldnt' speak yet. And my sister and her friends that would sleep over would sometimes hear children talking. One night Connie and her friend's child had charcoal marks on their arms when they woke up but no charcoal was ever found. Sometimes there would be sand lines around their bed. Yes, let me interrupt and say if there were marks on my children yes I would be out of there. My sister had a border, who saw/felt something one night, and left in the middle of the night with his dog. Didn't even wait until morning. TVs/stereos on off. Scratching. Front door opening sounds etc. etc. MOre that I can't think of right now. But it had one of those creepy dirt basements. EEK to that.
That's freaky. Goosebumps
And what was so wild about all this is it was the town. There were some hangings during I think the war of 1812. Apparently, men were hung for being traitors but they were found out not to be. My mom also had some friends in the same town. And they used to see a young girl rocking and walkiing by their bed. And many houses on the street had stuff. Water taps turning on by themselves.
My sister never felt attacked or scared. And it was a rented house. She also said that activity was strongest when their was a man in her life. As in the ghosts were jealous/protective.
So Steph - is that good? I'm sure there are things I forgot. She stayed there for years. At least 6 or 7.
Also, a good ghost on film. In Three Men and a Baby a ghost of a boy appears in the window of a dining room scene. The boy is there and has no feet. It was filmed in Toronto and apparently there is a story behind it. I think one of three guys is talking to his mother in the dining or living room and the boy is by the drapes. Thick hair. Creepy.
There you go missy.
Also I live in the original city of Toronto. Ie. where it was settled. Old Town they call it. There are ghost stories all over here. And land - attached to land. Our first condo - our neighbour sweared her suite was haunted. New building. And I never felt anything in ours but things happened in hers when I was babysitting her cat. One night I dreamt of my surroundings. I never dream of places in reality where I live in the now. I'm not sure I wasn't awake. I saw a man standing by my bookcase. And he passed me and through the wall into my neighbour's suite - the one she says was haunted. Dream or not? I don't know. I do feel things though. Dont' see. Feel. Energy. I had a lot of deaths one year. And three I felt a presence for sure. For sure. One was so funny. I really felt Alice. We were in her home. I asked someone close to me if she felt her relative. She said no and a hanging planter fell from the ceiling right away.

Probably a coincidence but funny. She was that kind of woman.

Strong personality like that.
As I'm telling you all this I'm in my parent's basement and a light keeps going on and off.

Jean just walked over and it went on.
Tons of history in our area downtown. Our neighbourhood, our corner, has underground reilroad location/locations?. In fact, there is a house that was protected on our condo lot because it was an underground railroad location. It has quite the air to it. Jean and I always look and laugh at its windows. We never see anyone in go in it - although it was sold as a duplex. The kind of windows that you expect to see a ghost. Sits right behind our condo.
Plus, our local market was once the county jail and they say that the lake came up and many drowned in chains centuries ago. Many have seen ghosts there.
No thanks I say.
I used to teach a lot of kids from the Caribbean. They were forever telling me ghost stories. I asked Mama, Jean's mom - they are Jamaican, why so many in Jamaica? She said they hate the light and the island can get very dark. So many stories from there. And they are priceless. Especially when teenagers are retelling their sightings. Famous one is the White Which of Rose Hall.
Kelly must have some - maybe, eh?
Well feeling energy is enough for me. I so don't want to see. Although I love ghost tours a la Savannah and Williamsburg. I love the history/stories.
Okay Steph it's late and I'm in a foreign sleeping enviroment that makes way too many noises. So I'm off now.
