In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Howdy again!

I'm sitting in my friend's coffee shop and guess what song is on the radio?!?

Heat Wave

:lmao: The windchill is in the negative teens here. Love the DJ's with funny senses of humor.

I've only exercised twice this week, gotta get in one more session before tomorrow. It's going to be so cold walking in the parking garage today. Burr!!!

I've been told at work that I have to get to work on time instead of early for a while, so we can justify extra exempt help. Too much work, too little time.

See I knew you all would help me get caught up....:woohoo: for 3.8 pounds. I think that is the best kind of loser to be!!!

Paula, how goes the training sessions? Still feeling the love for Jesse? All I get a picture of is John Stamos, remember Full House??? :lmao:

LisaPR - glad we can help. The support here is awesome and frankly one of the main reasons why I haven't gained back any weight yet. I may not have lost, but I have yo yo'd the same five pounds for a year, but I haven't gained and for that I am grateful.

The training sessions continue to go well and frankly, I am loving them. Jesse is cool. He is such a young'n but cool. I remember the idealistic views I had when I was 25 so it is funny to see how my views have changed over the past ten years. His passion for what he does is pretty infectious though so that is cool. So in short, yes I am still feeling the love for my trainer (although not feeling the love if you get my drift ;) ). And no, he doesn't look like John Stamos from Full House either...:rotfl2:

Howdy again!

That's just cruel...

Off to a meeting - catch you all later!

Yeah, if they didn't play such a great spread of music, I would think they were just plain rude.

We had an earthquake here last spring and they played 'earthquake' appropriate music all morning. It was hilarious ~ new stuff and old stuff.

Enjoy that meeting! I have zero on the books today! :woohoo:

Steph - okay ghost story.

You know what was great about my sister and the house - she never told us. She allowed us to feel it and ask her WTH. So we experienced things without any preconceived thoughts. Actually, I was only a teenager so who knows what I thought anyway before I experienced it. All things can have some sort of explanation but I'll tell you it was haunted 100%. :surfweb:

So here's the scoop -

She had a pool table put all the balls away they would hear smacking and go down all of them would be out. Actually she had a partner then and they would argue about who didn't put them away. No kids old enough, at that time, to do it. You'd be sitting and things would just start playing. Like those creepy wind up clown thingys. Yeah, she had one. Connie, my niece who is 27 this year, was a like one or two and couldnt' speak yet. And my sister and her friends that would sleep over would sometimes hear children talking. One night Connie and her friend's child had charcoal marks on their arms when they woke up but no charcoal was ever found. Sometimes there would be sand lines around their bed. Yes, let me interrupt and say if there were marks on my children yes I would be out of there. My sister had a border, who saw/felt something one night, and left in the middle of the night with his dog. Didn't even wait until morning. TVs/stereos on off. Scratching. Front door opening sounds etc. etc. MOre that I can't think of right now. But it had one of those creepy dirt basements. EEK to that.

That's freaky. Goosebumps

And what was so wild about all this is it was the town. There were some hangings during I think the war of 1812. Apparently, men were hung for being traitors but they were found out not to be. My mom also had some friends in the same town. And they used to see a young girl rocking and walkiing by their bed. And many houses on the street had stuff. Water taps turning on by themselves.

My sister never felt attacked or scared. And it was a rented house. She also said that activity was strongest when their was a man in her life. As in the ghosts were jealous/protective.

So Steph - is that good? I'm sure there are things I forgot. She stayed there for years. At least 6 or 7.

Also, a good ghost on film. In Three Men and a Baby a ghost of a boy appears in the window of a dining room scene. The boy is there and has no feet. It was filmed in Toronto and apparently there is a story behind it. I think one of three guys is talking to his mother in the dining or living room and the boy is by the drapes. Thick hair. Creepy.

There you go missy.

Also I live in the original city of Toronto. Ie. where it was settled. Old Town they call it. There are ghost stories all over here. And land - attached to land. Our first condo - our neighbour sweared her suite was haunted. New building. And I never felt anything in ours but things happened in hers when I was babysitting her cat. One night I dreamt of my surroundings. I never dream of places in reality where I live in the now. I'm not sure I wasn't awake. I saw a man standing by my bookcase. And he passed me and through the wall into my neighbour's suite - the one she says was haunted. Dream or not? I don't know. I do feel things though. Dont' see. Feel. Energy. I had a lot of deaths one year. And three I felt a presence for sure. For sure. One was so funny. I really felt Alice. We were in her home. I asked someone close to me if she felt her relative. She said no and a hanging planter fell from the ceiling right away. :lmao: Probably a coincidence but funny. She was that kind of woman. :lmao: Strong personality like that.

As I'm telling you all this I'm in my parent's basement and a light keeps going on and off. :lmao: :rotfl: Jean just walked over and it went on.

Tons of history in our area downtown. Our neighbourhood, our corner, has underground reilroad location/locations?. In fact, there is a house that was protected on our condo lot because it was an underground railroad location. It has quite the air to it. Jean and I always look and laugh at its windows. We never see anyone in go in it - although it was sold as a duplex. The kind of windows that you expect to see a ghost. Sits right behind our condo.

Plus, our local market was once the county jail and they say that the lake came up and many drowned in chains centuries ago. Many have seen ghosts there.

No thanks I say.

I used to teach a lot of kids from the Caribbean. They were forever telling me ghost stories. I asked Mama, Jean's mom - they are Jamaican, why so many in Jamaica? She said they hate the light and the island can get very dark. So many stories from there. And they are priceless. Especially when teenagers are retelling their sightings. Famous one is the White Which of Rose Hall.

Kelly must have some - maybe, eh?

Well feeling energy is enough for me. I so don't want to see. Although I love ghost tours a la Savannah and Williamsburg. I love the history/stories.

Okay Steph it's late and I'm in a foreign sleeping enviroment that makes way too many noises. So I'm off now. :lmao:

Love it, love it. So many of my friends thought I was crazy as a loon when stuff was happening while my grandma was dying. She had cancer and we were able to keep her home in her last few months. Sounds like a little extra proof that I am sane.

Nancy and Kelly are in the house... too funny you two...

Its cold... when does this arctic blast go away???
UMM Hello it was MINUS 20 this morning when I got up! can we say BURRRRRRRR It is now 10 am and it is warmed up to a balmy MINUS 16. (Kelly for you in Celsius that is -27)

Ummm Kelly...if you mention the word Excersize to Steph...it takes on a whole different conotation which will then make these statements even funnier...:lmao: and the visual for your neighbors a pay per view event...:3dglasses :rotfl2:
UMM Steph isn't exercising as much any more... like little to NONE! No time!

Liz - I swear this changed my eating life. Love fajitas. Sometimes don't have the time or energy. I'm such a liar with me it's lazy. :rotfl: :lmao: So I found a quick way. So I use my favourite frozen patties - beef, chicken, can be tofu. :lmao:

While they are cooking on my contact grill - I heat up a frying pan throw in mushrooms, onions, peppers - whatever. Frozen garlic cube.

While that's going - heat up tortilla in microwave. Sometimes grate cheese.

And voila - five/six minutes it's all done at the same time. And so yummy. Avacodo - salsa anything. But I try to keep it simple as I can. So fast.

Enjoy - you must so tired/wiped Liz. Think about you all the time. And happy to see that you are thinking of support for all that you are going through. to you. to your mom and family.

Lisa
MMM sounds good! My mom buys a huge thing of chicken breast or tenders and cooks them up on Sunday and put them into serving sizes and has stuff all week, you could do this with any type of meat. This way one day she has a grilled chicken salad and then the next night she has Chicken fajitas. Other times she just warms up the breast and has a chicken dinner.

Don't worry, Amy! I'll protect you!

OMG I can Totally see you as WONDER WOMAN!!! YOU too LIZ

Yes! And you can even get the stir-fry ready vegetables. Already pre-chopped and ready to go. I get the fresh, but they have frozen too. And with the frozen, there is also a package of frozen stir fry sauce...so you really just throw it all in the pan and heat it through.
Yes I love these! add brown rice and your set!

I  Wonder Woman. I had her Under roos.
OH I had them too Aimee

Will you protect me from the weather tomorrow? :confused3
My daughter's school is 2 hours late - which doesn't effect her because she is in PM kindergarten!

Just wanted everyone to know - I am a LOSER! I went to my WW meeting and I lost 3.8 pounds this week! YEA! It feels good to have the scale go the other way!

I have to go - it's getting late. Have a good evening and a wonderful tomorrow! ~ Jena
Great Job Jena!!! And since Erika doesn't like the banana I'll give you this guy:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

OH LISA thank you so much for all the stories!!!! I love hearing about ghost! My home town was pretty haunted as well, never witnessed anything but .... There is a website called Haunted places index that you can search for haunted places here in the state by state and then it breaks down by city. The ONLY place that is listed for my town is my Step Mothers street! I have NEVER seen anything there or even had a feeling. As for the feelings for the loved ones.. I sadly haven't felt that either. My grandmother passed and my mom swears that she can home to a house that smelled just like my grandmothers "Paris" perfume My uncle awoke one night to her standing at the foot of her bed, but I was the closest to her and I have NOT felt or seen her even when I was going through all the cancer stuff! Not even a once! Sometimes I feel sad about it, other times I guess I am glad! ( I think maybe I am doing things the way she wants)

Steph, Shelby's 10 a.m. game has been nixed. She has tryouts for a traveling team that takes them around Division 1 colleges in New England. More important for exposure purposes. She bombed last night because there was another goalie who got her all nervous and she was trying too hard. Mike's "over coordinatedness" came out in her to put it mildly. She has another try on Sunday. Hopefully she can pull it together. We had a long talk on the way home about self-confidence and believing in yourself. Good mommy moment. Anyway, you set the time and place to meet up (not 10-11 on Sunday as Mike will have my car) but any other time will work. If we are sliding at camp on Saturday, I will call you and see if you all want to come over here, very sheltered, nice hill for sliding, XC ski trails, camp with fire, etcetera).
Ok Not sure If I am now coming! My brother said that there is snow falling and he won't go if there is snow because he plows and he will lose a boat load of $$$ if he goes! I may or may not go by myself. I will call you and let you know!

Is there a Maine meet that I am unaware of???
UMM YEAH I have only been talking about coming to Maine for a month, I told you to save me some TEQUILA!!! Lisa lives only two towns from my dad so we were going to meet for coffee on sunday morning! But I may not be coming now!

We have the icy blast from the mid-west now. It is officially too cold for me to run outside! :headache: Something way below zero with the windchill. And it was below zero first thing this morning even without the windchill. So I will have to run on the TM today and that should be....interesting. I literally can't remember that last time that I had to run on the TM. And do you remember last Spring when I just started running? I would ONLY run on the TM. I was terrified when it was time to run outside. :rotfl2:

BUT YOU RAN THAT IS THE POINT YOU ARE SUCH A GODDESS!!!

Just wanted everyone to know - I am a LOSER! I went to my WW meeting and I lost 3.8 pounds this week! YEA! It feels good to have the scale go the other way!

:woohoo: Go Jena! That's awesome!

Steph - okay ghost story.

:faint: I'd be OUTTA there :scared:

I have had a sneaky pre-weigh in - im very excited to get weighed tomorrow! In fact, yes, It calls for a

oddly...I'm excited too. I've been working hard - and while my goal has not been pounds...I'm really curious to see just what's going on ;)

I did my 10 miles that I missed from Sunday yesterday on the elliptical. I had really intended to do it on the TM but they were all full.

10 miles..on the elliptical? Oy. I don't have much love for the elliptical. Kudos to you for gettin' it done :thumbsup2

Paula, how goes the training sessions? Still feeling the love for Jesse? All I get a picture of is John Stamos, remember Full House??? :lmao:

:rotfl2: OMG - the hair!! :rotfl2: I think of Jess from Gilmore Girls. (love that show :lovestruc DD has all 7 seasons on dvd...)

I tortured myself this morning - did the same nasty leg routine that I did with the trainer last week. You know the one...where I couldn't walk properly until TUESDAY? :scared1: However, I don't feel quite so wobbly as I did after the first time, so I hope that's a good sign!

I have another ridiculously busy day today....hope everyone is having a good one...and keeping WARM.

OK a little haunted story of my own

My FIL past away on the 30 of december and he could not be buried due to snow and frozen ground until spring. SO... For the months leading up to the spring we heard all these little noises around the house (in-laws house) One night we were all sitting at the dinner table and we ALL heard someone out on their porch going through the toolbox that they had out there. My husband got up to see if it was one of my nephews and there was NO ONE there! No one outside NOTHING! Another night all the grand kids were There was 11 of them and there AREN'T QUIET KIDS! And they along with my SIL's all heard someone walking around in the UNFINISHED upstairs so my SIL went up and there was NO one there. So they told the kids that it was us so they didn't flip out!Another time I think it was like two moths after FIL died I was sitting in his recliner (where he died) and I had Zachary in my arms and I kinda stood to reposition myself and I swear I saw and HEard MY FIL tell my "NO honey you stay there with the baby I'll sit over here!" He had a bowl of ice cream in his hands and he sat in the chair right beside me! I flipped I guess I went pale white and grabbed Zac's stuff and told Stephen I had to leave! I cried all the way to the store!
At his funeral zac (mind you that he was 6 months old) kept looking up and babbling never right anyone in particular but ever now and then he would look up and talk away. Even when people were talking to him he would look away and babble. It was just plain strange!

Ok enough ghost stories from ME!

UMM Hello it was MINUS 20 this morning when I got up! can we say BURRRRRRRR It is now 10 am and it is warmed up to a balmy MINUS 16. (Kelly for you in Celsius that is -27)

:scared1: How do you even get out of bed in the morning when it is that cold?

oddly...I'm excited too. I've been working hard - and while my goal has not been pounds...I'm really curious to see just what's going on ;)

I don't normally get excited for weigh-in. My luck, I'll have just jinxed myself! :lmao:

My niece who was born in September does the same thing. My mum went to a spiritualist who told her that her parents (my grandparents, who died well before I was born) 'flit' between being with me and being with my mum. Well when Lyla (my niece) is at my mums her eyes follow something thats not there, and she babbles!

I haven't read a thing. I've got to jump on and off.

But Kat - to you. Good wishes to you. I'm sorry. I went upstairs last night and thought crap I meant to say  to Kat but after telling ghost stories I thought I'll wait until daylight to go back down. ;)

Here's hoping some good news comes your way.

That is soooo cold! I don't know how you guys cope with such cold weather! :scared1:

...

Heres the thing with me and eggs. I like eggs when the yolk is 'dippy' and the white bit is hard (fried eggs, soft boiled eggs etc). I cant eat boiled eggs when the yolk is hard - I will eat the white bit and leave the yolk! :rotfl2:

I DON'T put up with the cold weather, that is why I moved to North Carolina in 2000. It gets cold here but nothing like the rest of the thread (other than Amy) deals with. Today is highs in the low 40s, lows in the teens, and this weekend we will actually have a low of about 10, and this is VERY cold for us. As cold as it gets, really, and usually only for a week or so.

I am the same way with eggs. LOVE the dippy yolk. Hard boiled yolk, eh. I hate when I fry an egg and accidentally break the yolk or over cook it.

See I knew you all would help me get caught up....:woohoo: for 3.8 pounds. I think that is the best kind of loser to be!!!

Paula, how goes the training sessions? Still feeling the love for Jesse? All I get a picture of is John Stamos, remember Full House??? :lmao:

HAHAHA!! I was seeing the same picture in my head!! :rotfl:

10 miles..on the elliptical? Oy. I don't have much love for the elliptical. Kudos to you for gettin' it done :thumbsup2

Weird, I like the elliptical and hate the dreadmill. I can knock out 3-4 miles on the elliptical no problem, and without holding on (I read a book, it freaks Liz out!).

Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes. I really appreciate them.

So, we find out at 4PM today exactly how bad things are here. I know I will still have a job, or at least have been reassured of that by multiple sources, but I also know that we aren't doing very well and that things may change. I just hope that it is perk reductions and not pay reductions, you know? It bums me out because this is the first job in a long time that I actually LIKE.

Oh, and yeah, I drank my sorrows away last night. Here is my food for yesterday (in the spirit of putting it all out there):

B: fiber one + 1/4 cup cottage cheese (100)
L: ham pita (100) + soup at hand (70) + dt swiss miss (25) + clementine (35)
D: half turkey sandwich (75), veggies/ff pringles (100), ff spinach dip (100)
S: some amt of ice cream (200?), 4 beers (700?)

Total, 1500? Not too bad I guess. Water, 64 oz. Exercise, none.

Hey Kat I totally forgot to comment on it But sending somepixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: your way for your job. I know this was one of your concerns when you went there.

I am the same way with eggs. LOVE the dippy yolk. Hard boiled yolk, eh. I hate when I fry an egg and accidentally break the yolk or over cook it.

I hate loose yolk. It makes me gag. When I fry an egg, I break it on purpose.

Weird, I like the elliptical and hate the dreadmill. I can knock out 3-4 miles on the elliptical no problem, and without holding on (I read a book, it freaks Liz out!).

No kidding! (about the freaking out)

Kat! At least you will know today, instead of waiting. Waiting is the hard part.

Hi everyone. I'm still on my mission to get things done this week, that's why I'm not posting much. I'm still reading and laughing as appropriate.

Yesterday I threw myself off the wagon. I worked out in the morning, then proceeded to eat Wednesday. I'm not kidding, I ate Wednesday. Weigh in tomorrow will be sucksville for me. Today is Thursday, the plan is different.

love ya

Okay, I had quotes but you all are too chatty for me this morning!!!

Kelly and Kat - I eat my eggs the same way. Egg to dip your toast in, we call them in my family.

It's freezing here. I hate it.

Lisa PR, that sucks about your cleaning lady! Argh. There's nothing more frustrating than people ruining your nice clean look. And, don't you feel it's more clean or stays cleaner better when she does it? I love to clean, but I'd take a cleaning lady for sure.

Ok, gotta go wash my kitchen floor! No kidding!

Jena - Awesome job on the loss! I love it when everyone's a big loser!

Nancy - I hate the elliptical, too. It freaks me out. But Gilmore Girls, that I love. It's one of the great joys of my life. Truly. My song with Emily is Where You Lead, but I prefer the original version, not the one they did for the show. That was what I watched to get me on the treadmill back in the day, when i was starting out.

Lisa V - I'd have been out of that house SO fast. I have respect for the spirit, I want to leave them in peace. Nick and I always joke about haunted houses - when the house says "GET OUT" we'd beat a path to the door. I don't care how the house says it, I"m listening.

Steph - that's a cool but creepy story. I love the bits with Zac. Does he even talk about your FIL? Even though he was so tiny, I wonder if they remember.

I didn't know Nick when his Pop died (grandfather in Philly-speak) but they sold the house pretty soon afterwards. It's a row home in South Philly, actually, it's the street Rocky lived on. You can see it in the movie. Anyhoo, it went up for sale again last year. So Nick and I stopped by. We just knocked on the door and spoke to the couple.

They could not have been more gracious. They were like, oh, you're Nick's grandson??? They knew all about him. They told us they would ask his permission when they changed anything in the house. They had this total reverence for what he had done to the house, his presence in it. Italian Catholics in South Philly - it IS just like a movie. But the weirdest part was they found this pen of his, with his name on it. Apparently, Nick's Pop had these made up and would hand them out all the time - he worked for Immigration and people often came to him with questions or problems. After his wife died and he retired, he was still the neighborhood go-to guy - help the widows, give advice, etc, and he held some small positions locally. So he had these pens. And they found one. And the man had it SAVED. In this inlaid box with like his grandpa's cuff links, he's got Nick's Pop's pen.

He tried to give it to Nick, but Nick was like, "No, you keep it. I'm happy it means something to you." Wow. So this couple totally felt the house haunted but loved it like that. They loved his presence in their lives. And they were sad to move and miss it.

The man was a throw-back to a generation that doesn't exist like that anymore, but he was lovely to meet. And his wife, too. They were pretty cool people. And they had clearly loved this house.

Ok, time for lunch and floor cleaning. Snowing here today.

Afternoon everyone -

#5 Kat - good thoughts out to you...

Liz - love that story...my Grandfather - Mick is always here...es. when I am in the kitchen...he was a cook..and I have his strainer, stew pot etc...and things will fall off the counter...fo no reason whenever I make his recipies...Carsyn is named after him...

Carsyn Mickenze...

I also have loads of recipie books from him and my grandma...love walking through the pages...reading their notes...found a wish list the other day in one...Curtains from Wards....Davenport from Sears....etc...

all these things that people need everyday....and reading them in the prices needed to pay at that time for things...knowing what they made..and choose to save for...makes me know how smart people were about credit and savings...and glad that I had those qualities from them so I do not have the debt load some do on CC's...but I do have student loans that would have made them choke...:rotfl2: :rolleyes1

Hey Everyone!

Hope you are all staying warm!! I know you will all laugh at me, but it is cold here today too, and is supposed to get colder. It will be in the teens a couple counties north of here. It is a HUGE deal when it gets this cold because of all the current fruit crops (strawberries, oranges).

Jena-WTG on the loss! That's awesome!

LisaV,Steph-Loved the ghost stories. I have never personally witnessed anything, but I do believe. There are too many stories out there.

LisaPR-great job on 10 miles on the elliptical!!

Liz-Thanks for posting about food suggestions. I always forget about shrimp.

Kat-Continued good thoughts and prayers for you. :goodvibes

Nancy-Will we get some goat baby pics soon? I :lovestruc gilmore girls as well. Also, I meant to mention the other day that if you do a january race at disney or the princess 1/2 AND you do the DL 1/2 in september, you get another special medal, in addition to the one for completing the DL 1/2. So if you did the dopey, you'd get 6 medals total!

Erika-mailed your packet today, via priority mail. Hopefully it won't be frozen solid when it gets there! :lmao: Did you officially sign up for Goofy 2010??

Melissa-Loved your story about helping the family who had the house fire. :goodvibes

Lyz,Paula,Aimee,Dawn,Kelly,Stacey,everyone else...

Back to exercise today. D and I wogged to the post office, 2.5 miles. No pain anywhere or soreness, so I will probably hit the TM running tomorrow. I am working on a plan to ramp up my miles again before my 1/2 at the end of Feb. I lost alot of LR stamina during those 2 weeks when I was sick over xmas so I will probably start out with a 4 mile LR and go from there.

SO true! They had seen what debt did to you...now, on the other hand, I did not learn from that. :lmao: I am a big -Throw Money at It to Fix it girl. Like, it's only money. Right? I'm not getting buried with it.

We do nearly everything ourselves, because Nick is handy. Entire kitchen, entire downstairs renovation, etc. But if it's a matter of something small and it solves an annoying problem - throw money at it and make it go away. I've got enough actual problems that can't be fixed by cash, so why not fix what I can?

And CC debit - I have been there. For sure. Luckily, I've also always had income and opportunities to pay it all off when it got hairy. But I was so proud of myself this year. Went to WDW in Dec, all my Christmas shopping, and as you now, no job for me at the moment - and not ONE thing went on a CC. I just realized this, as the Dec bills came due, and I didn't owe anything. All cash. Wow. This could get addictive!

Ok, shameful indulgence here. Emily has been hanging over my shoulder all morning and she really, really wants to pick an icon to post. Okay? So here she goes.
