In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Holy cow is everyone typing at the same time...I went back and updated my photo above I posted for Paula...it di not come through the first time...and everyone needs a chuckle...;)

Tip o' the Day--keep posting even when you are off your program. Don't come here only when you are doing well. It sort of defeats the purpose of support, right? And no one here is going to judge you if you come and say "I ate an entire pie today..." because we have all been in those dark places (otherwise we wouldn't be here at all, right?). Seriously, sometimes I get the most motivated when someone here is struggling. And I am like, "we can get out of this mess together!"

TONS and tons of research says that you will have way more success if you have a support system. So let this be your system (part of it or the whole thing) and keep posting...the good, the bad, the ugly.

Your Tip o' the Day shamed me into posting! :rotfl:
My name is Kelly, I feel horrendous due to a horrible cold and I found myself face down in the 'Tin of Sin' before I could even stop myself. :sad2:

Since Saturday night Ive felt shocking, headache, eyes ache, nose aches, fingernails ache, eyelashes ache - you get the picture! I managed to keep on track until today (its 2pm here if you thought id gone mad early in the morning!) - I got up this morning and my heating doesn't work (its below 0 today, lovely!), ive had to come to work to cover someones sickness even though I am sick too, and the plumber has only just got to my house to fix the heating even though I rang 5 hours ago! :scared1:

So, here I was at work, minding my own business when BLAM! Face down in the tin of sin. I inhaled at least 15 chocolates before I could say 'Whoopsie Daisy'.

So thats me. Its a sad state of affairs, but at least the chocolate craving has gone! :rotfl2:
Im back on track now..I promise!

Wow, we all posted at the same time. Talk about great minds.

Cravings during TOM: This is caused by an increased responsiveness to insulin related to the increased hormone levels during TOM. In essence, you are experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar and your brain says replace. If you increase the amount of complex carbs in your diet throughout the month, it should help with these symptoms.

Amy, soda for Delena, surely you must jest!! I think I would have a sit to and explain the effects of carbonation and/or sugar on bone development and tooth decay. Yes you brush her teeth but there are effects that cause tooth decay such as calcium deprivation and the like that are far more scary.

My kids, if we go to a restaurant, fast food joint or something, when they are asked what they want to drink, they look directly and me and say "can we have a soda" in this really pathetic sad voice like I am megaworst mommy on the planet because I don't allow soda in the house. Sigh......:sad2:

Lyz--yikes about your sub-contractor. My heart is breaking at those type of stories. Not sure what is in store for us here. J is in a very turbulent industry to begin with (always lay-offs even before the economy tanked). We know that he is very safe in his group (top guy there, his director loves him, and all of that)....but the real issue is that things are SO bad right now, that they might just cut his entire GROUP (which is hundreds of people worldwide). Like, the company might just say, "Yeah, we don't make this anymore. Done." So the threat for us is real. So, we're worried, though not yet at the stage where we are losing sleep.

I know! It's getting worse everyday. Exactly your scenario. People who are safe, aren't necessarily.

BTW, what did you do for exercise yesterday?

Nothing. I know, I know. I will make up for it. I laid on the couch with a headache last night.

"I ate an entire pie today..."

How did you know?!?!?

Paula: WTG on losing weight!! I'd think the water class would be good to continue if you can. I love nights when I just do my pilates because it is so relaxing.

Good Point.

I am in an obsessive weighing mode, and I am down 3 pounds from yesterday.

Yaay Amy. I'm weighing everyday too.

As for work, mine is secure. Someone has to type up what these docs are saying.... Mike on the other hand is self employed as a landscape contractor (actually they do driveways, septics, full site, etcetera) in the warmer months and he has a log truck for this time of year. The mills around here are closing for weeks at a time, rotating vacations, etcetera. One mill is headed out this year and then all bets are off on the woods industry. The cost of fuel went up and the price for wood went down. You do the math. As for the warm weather job, in 2007 they did 5 full site new homes and last year there was only 1. We keep fingers crossed for good changes in 2009, for everyone!! Mike's mom ran the physical education department and the University of Maine Farmington for many moons (37 years) and she went for a visit the other day reporting back with the cuts and changes which are really frightening!!

I know! I'm so bummed. We are in construction, commercial (preferred) and residential. Last year, commercial was king in my world. This year we are chasing tons of houses. We have to be flexible.

Wow - Baylor and Mol are very close in age.

Kelly! Sounds like you need a hug. Yes, post, here, often. Kay? (Tin of Sin - cracks me up!)

How did you even sleep without heat? Brrrrr.

I did need that hug, thank you

Hmm, sleep - not very much! We were wearing long pyjamas, dressing gown, thermal socks and hot water bottles. Not very zexy! :rotfl:
I could see my breath when I woke up this morning! :scared1:

Liz - continued  and good thoughts for you and your friend. That little baby sure is a fighter.

 to everyone else who needs them, sorry I haven't quoted more!

Holy crap! This is hilarious, all of this simultaneous posting!

You are such a fun mom. Snowboarding beats pop any day. Are they taking a fieldtrip to snowboard? Hi lar ious! I guess we go skating.

Thanks. I don't act my age, that is really all it is. :rotfl2:

This is Maine, so the kids have stay active even when it is cold since it is cold A LOT. So for PE they do snowshoeing and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. The girls are in snowshoeing right now, so they do that right at school (there are trails in the woods behind the school). And Riley's grade goes to one of the local mountains (once a week for 5 weeks), so I guess you would call it a PE field trip.

Skating is a daily thing. We have a hockey rink in the back yard (we flood the yard and there is a special tarp-thing that you put down, then put the hose on it and freezes fairly smooth...and of course, J built boards going around the perimeter). And even better...J being J...converts the riding lawn-mower so that in the winter it turns into a zambonie. :rotfl: Seriously though, I love that we never have to worry about them falling through the ice. It is like 2" deep...so I don't always have to be out there with them.

Yeah, walking sounds good.

You are a born runner. I know this based on when you were running on the TM a few months ago. You just have to discover your inner running goddess.

Ok, The Cast List. I'm not sure I can get this done. It's year end and I have tons of tax stuff to do. Anyone else want this job? Anyone? Bueller?

Hmmmm....maybe.

Lisa! I don't think having to sell your house is a minor thing to face. It, frankly, sucks and I don't think I'd be handling it with 1/4th of the grace you are. I'd be a raging woman.

WORD. I would be a basket case!

E - what does Jeff do anyway..you probably said at one point...but I forgot...sorry...

He is in the high tech industry. Semiconductors. They are obsessed with making things smaller than the head of a pin. :confused3 :rotfl2: He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. He's a manager now, so that provides some security, but like Lyz said...even those who are normally safe are not right now.

Thanks for posting, Kelly! And OMG, that made me laugh as well. Just remember that perfection is not possible. It's ok.

like I am megaworst mommy on the planet because I don't allow soda in the house. Sigh......:sad2:

Um, no, that would be MY title. :rotfl2: I don't allow any soda AND they don't have any video games! The horror! :scared1:

/
We don't have video games either. Shelby has a phone which she endlessly texts on and the computer that the school gives them that she buries her face in every night. We had to restrict time on both of them. David, has a V Smile portable game that he takes with him to the endless tourneys we have to go to. At least he is learning math, letters and phonics while he is playing.

We have 2 ponds so we don't have to flood anything. We also have the XC ski trails. Our closest mountain is Eaton Mountain, Sugarloaf is a good 45 minutes. I don't snowboard but Shelby does. I am afraid of breaking something important that I use for my job, namely my wrists being the #1 snowboarding injury. Skiers break their thumbs more often than not and I could work without them with a little adjustment.

Oh and speaking of skiing, I found a learn to skate ski class in Portland this weekend at the Riverside Golf Course where, apparently, they have lots of nordic trails available.........:rolleyes1

The school district gives you a computer! And Riley GOES snowboarding once a week! I tell ya - You guys live in a whole other world.

It is a statewide program. All 7th graders in the state get a laptop. As for the snowboarding...It's Maine...it's an outdoorsy place.

can't keep up.....

you all are making it hard for me to concentrate on work....

I am reading, just need to get a crapload of work done today so I am going to try and not check this again until lunchtime... by then you all should have another 5 pages of postings for me to read...

Paula

KellyUK - feel better...

AmyK - I think you are right about the swimming... it is relaxing and sometimes you just need that right...

How on earth did you manage to get the picture of me after being in the Tin of Sin?! I have been known to have that much chocolate on my face before, but thankfully this time wasn't as bad! :rotfl:
