In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Hi all!

I don't have time for much, on my way to work, will catch up tonight.

But i wanted to check in, i'm -4 lbs this week!!!!!!

That brings me to -8 since 1/1/09 so if i can keep it off I already hit that goal for the challenge just have to continue working out!

:cool1: Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!! TGIF! Burr!

I exercised 4 times this week and am -1lb. That brings me to -3.5 since Jan 1st. I have 4.5 to go for the month.

I woke up hungry (stomach growling hungry!) and forgot to weigh before eating and drinking. Yes, that little extra counts for me.

Off to wash my hair ~ why the heck didn't I do this last night?!?

Ok let me just start by saying OMFG it's cold! The thermometer on the house says -30 the car says -25. SO it is F*&king COLD!!!! Did mention that we didn't put enough Kerosene in with the fuel and we have now gelled up? So yes I am now like Kelly with NO heat!!!! Thankfully we have the fireplace but that doesn't through enough heat to heat the living room. So stephen has gone to get a salamander to heat the room where the fuel tanks are.

OH Lisa and Erika I will NOT be making the annual trek to Maine! There is a snow storm coming and my brother plows for a business and can't leave. I would drive up by myself but I don't want to get caught in the storm driving home by MT. Washington.

Ok off to go sit in front of the fire place it is way to cold!!!!

Steph, another time for sure. Give me a call the next trip up and we will figure out a way to hijak Erika up here for the day!!

I hear you on the cold. My car is a diesel and so is Mike's pickup, both gelled this morning. Thankfully, my mom is in FL and her car is in my garage. It is the ONLY thing around here that will start!!!!

We have an outside wood boiler and it was the bestest best thing we EVER did for the house. Warm all over. Usually we put wood in it in the morning and at night. Of course, today it is working overtime and I have to check it frequently.

Just went and thawed out the cow water. My car hood is up taking advantage of a little solar energy and hopefully it will start this afternoon so I can pick my kids up at school. Running mom's car makes me really nervous as it has already been sitting for 3 months and probably needs some additive in the fuel too. If I have to call AAA today it will be a long time sitting still for sure!!!!!

Stay warm everyone and woo hoo on all the pounds lost so far. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I have a ghosty story to tell you too (see I forgot this part). When my dad passed away almost 6 years ago (wow how time goes on), he had tons of tools and parts in his garage. He was a mechanic by trade. I was helping my mom do something in the house and I went outside for a hammer. Now being a mechanic, my dad had lots of things to pound with, rubber mallets, ballpeen hammers etcetera but not a claw hammer in sight. I stood in the garage and put my hands on my hips and said "okay dad, where did you hide the hammer?" and out of nowhere something fell onto the bench....yes the claw hammer. How odd is that. Every time I went into the garage and needed something, I figured I should ask from then on. Now I have some of his tools in my garage and when I go out to get something, I still ask first!!

Another time, a friend was working on the 1931 Model A that my dad restored that I now have. It was dad's first car (and already an antique when he bought it). So Pat was test driving it and threw the car in reverse to get out into the driveway. We have 2 huge rocks at the end of our garage area. He was headed right toward one of them. Suddenly, from the back seat, he heard "watch out" and immediately stomped on the brakes only inches from one of the rocks. He wouldn't drive it again without me in the car because it made him so scared that he had made dad mad!!! :scared:

Steph - that's a cool but creepy story. I love the bits with Zac. Does he even talk about your FIL? Even though he was so tiny, I wonder if they remember.
Yes Zac always talks about Stephens dad like he knew him or something! He was 6 months old when david passed. Still to this day he say remember when Pepe (french slang for grandfather) did this. I now he hears us talk about thing and such and that is how he remembers, but sometimes I wonder!!!
I didn't know Nick when his Pop died (grandfather in Philly-speak) but they sold the house pretty soon afterwards. It's a row home in South Philly, actually, it's the street Rocky lived on. You can see it in the movie. Anyhoo, it went up for sale again last year. So Nick and I stopped by. We just knocked on the door and spoke to the couple.

They could not have been more gracious. They were like, oh, you're Nick's grandson??? They knew all about him. They told us they would ask his permission when they changed anything in the house. They had this total reverence for what he had done to the house, his presence in it. Italian Catholics in South Philly - it IS just like a movie. But the weirdest part was they found this pen of his, with his name on it. Apparently, Nick's Pop had these made up and would hand them out all the time - he worked for Immigration and people often came to him with questions or problems. After his wife died and he retired, he was still the neighborhood go-to guy - help the widows, give advice, etc, and he held some small positions locally. So he had these pens. And they found one. And the man had it SAVED. In this inlaid box with like his grandpa's cuff links, he's got Nick's Pop's pen.

He tried to give it to Nick, but Nick was like, "No, you keep it. I'm happy it means something to you." Wow. So this couple totally felt the house haunted but loved it like that. They loved his presence in their lives. And they were sad to move and miss it.

The man was a throw-back to a generation that doesn't exist like that anymore, but he was lovely to meet. And his wife, too. They were pretty cool people. And they had clearly loved this house.

Ok, time for lunch and floor cleaning. Snowing here today.
Great Story! I love hearing stories like that and the one that Lisa/PR was telling about finding stuff in the garage. Actually that was one of my first questions that I asked the owners of this house when we were looking at it. She was like do you have any questions? I said Yeah is it haunted?? Any spirits? Good or Bad?? She looked at me like I was NUTS!!!

Oh no! :sad2: Stay warm. I feel your pain.

I have a ghosty story to tell you too (see I forgot this part). When my dad passed away almost 6 years ago (wow how time goes on), he had tons of tools and parts in his garage. He was a mechanic by trade. I was helping my mom do something in the house and I went outside for a hammer. Now that IS spooky!

Great job on the losses you losers! :cheer2:
(Ok, I admit. It really cracks me up to call everyone losers. Its that 7 year old childs sense of humour taking over again! :rotfl2: )

Hi all...the scale is fixed and I show up 245...:sad2: I think that is a one pound gain...excersized only 2 times this week and had the equivalent of 3 pops...and did not track...I feel like I am at the confessional... but I need to pay the piper and that comes with self honesty...

So Game Plan to change things...

Went grocery shopping last night...have a date at the Y today and just had a protein breakfast which is one thing I am going to try and start...and today...I am posting pics up around the house for motivation...Dan and I are making a gold star chart like many of you have been using...truth...I need that recognition in some form if I am not doing weight watchers...something visual that says..keep doing this...

AND MY PERSONAL GOAL....TRACK EVERY DAY THIS WEEK...NO MAYBES...

That is it...2 hour delay here with -29 temp again this morning...Treyner is pannicked because he had everything lined up to be done with make up stuff before finals....no who knows whatr will happen...

Gone for the day today...getting stuff done...

Amy - D is the cute patrol...princess:
Kat - sorry about the pay cut...:sad1:

Hi to all and I will post more later....

Good chilly morning everyone! ::yes::

HEY - did y'all notice the "smiley" change-up?? No more dancing banana on the "short list"....Erika, did you request that one? :confused3

Erika, when you do a lot of exercise or higher miles, just for me, the next time, try a protein shake when you are done, before your water. See if that helps curb the eternal munchies that you get afterward (I get them too if I don't power up right ). Try this one:
1 cup soy milk
1/2 cup plain yogurt (I use Greek)
4-5 frozen strawberries (or any berries)
1 banana
1 tablespoon flax seed
1-2 scoops of whey powder
1T diet hot cocoa mix

It is a really good recipe given to me by one of my triathletes on the Goofs and it has helped me out a lot. Not just that but it tastes good too!!

I make one that is very similar. No milk though - I use a little water & then ice....and sugar free Nesquik choc. milk powder in place of the hot cocoa...drinking one now as a matter of fact

Ok let me just start by saying OMFG it's cold! The thermometer on the house says -30 the car says -25. SO it is F*&king COLD!!!!!!!!

YIKES

Congrats to all you LOSERS out there :thumbsup2

I'm doing fairly well with my challenge. Exercise total thus far (thru yesterday) is 735/1500 minutes.

I tracked 6 out of the 7 days last week (goal was minimum of 5 per week) Because I didn't have a "pound lost" goal, I'm not going to do an official weight until the end of the challenge.

Good freezing morning everyone!! It is -23 this morning and we are not supposed to break 0 all day. Tomorrow too!! Needless to say, I am inside for the next 2 days.....:crazy2:

I weighed in this morning and I am down 3.5 pounds in total from my start weight. Yay, another pound.

Holy cow is it COLD. 20 below here as well! I think it has warmed up slightly to -15 or something awful. But no delays or cancellations here. School was on time as always. We so rarely cancel or delay.

We heat with wood as well, so all is good. We are toasty warm inside right now. But I have a lot of running around to do today. Not looking forward to that.

LISA--WOO HOO on the loss! Down is down, baby! And thanks for the protein shake. YES, for you, I will try it! I would love to not eat everything in sight after a workout. But does it have to be so complicated? Like, I need something instant.

I am -3lbs :cool1:

I think that might be my biggest weight loss ever! :rotfl2:

WOW! Goddess Crown for you!

Hi all!

I don't have time for much, on my way to work, will catch up tonight.

STACEY! Awesome news! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Goddess crown to you as well!

WOO HOO! Another loser! We are rocking this challenge!

Good chilly morning everyone! ::yes::

Of course I did. Didn't you know that the DIS team loves me? They are at my beck and call, you know...first the cruise, now this.

I make one that is very similar. No milk though - I use a little water & then ice....and sugar free Nesquik choc. milk powder in place of the hot cocoa...drinking one now as a matter of fact

Thanks for your version of the shake, Nancy. I will try something in the next few days and report back.

Awesome job on the challenge! Like Nancy, I am not going to weigh in, likely not till the end. It is just better for me that way.

My challenge results =

760/1500 and abs 4x. Getting there! Still only tracked 5/7, but slowly and surely I am getting to where I need to be. Exercise and abs are now back on board, so this week I can focus on tracking.

Keep those results coming in! I will update that challenge board tonight!

WTG to everyone with a weight loss! :cool1: (Were the heck is the dancing banana??)

Challenge stats for this week-

Weight: DOWN another pound, to 190.5. The 1/2 kicked the last of the christmas weight off my butt!! So challenge wise, I have hit 5 pounds for the month already.

Exercise: 3/5 days exercise. I figured this would happen with rest days after the 1/2...Next month I am going to make a minutes goal. Some days I might have 2 hours to exercise, and other days none. So I think a minutes goal may make more sense for me.

I've got a lunch date with BFF and her DS, so I'll be back this afternoon!!

And Kat:  . I know it is not the best news, but not the worst either. :goodvibes

Hi all ~
Thanks for the all pats on the back for the WL - I am feeling really good about it now! :cheer2:

Last night I went to the the gym and ran 2 miles on the TM!! I didn't think I could do it!! How many activity points is that? Then I did some crunches and 10 military-style push-ups! I was SO suprised that I could do that!!!! I even think I could have done more but I had to get the girls from day-care.

Today s another no school day for my kindergartner. Two days in a row without school for her! I love it that she gets to stay home with the other daycare kids! I also love it that she is sad about staying home and wants to go to school - - - do you think she'll feel that way in 10 years?

There is going to be a warm up this weekend!!! Maybe we'll come out from under this cold weather after all. Think spring!

Erika, the easy version is bottle of G2, Accelerade or your poison of choice and a scoop of whey powder, half the bottle before and half the bottle after. I only do this between 5-8 mile runs though. I am way too hungry otherwise. In a pinch, string cheese works for me.

I weighed in this morning and I am down 3.5 pounds in total from my start weight. Yay, another pound. Not much but I will take what I get. Only 1.5 more to go...:woohoo: I got in 27 miles this week in total. I did 6 last night just for good measure. I felt good to get higher distance again. My favorite is 5 miles, not too short and not too long and I feel like I did something when I am done.
:

Yeah Lisa! :thumbsup2

I am -3lbs :cool1:

I think that might be my biggest weight loss ever! :rotfl2:

Fantastic Kelly! :cheer2:

I loved this paragraph. It's so fulfilling to do things you thought you couldn't. Good for you. :cheer2:

Erika - lost your quote. :thumbsup2 for your week. And thanks for all your work.

Whoops. Forgot me. I'm down 2.1. Happy. Exercise - check - good. Eating consciously - hit and miss but fine.

Steph - did I miss you? Or something. I must go back.

Hi all. I have lots to reply too, just don't have time this afternoon. I will tonight. (Lisa, thanks for the background. Have comments on this, so don't go deleting it.)

I went to a funeral this afternoon. For one of my bff's (from childhood) mom. We don't talk often. Just in passing when we see one another, and her mom died of a short illness and I don't know what it is yet.

I am up .8. %*#()$&()$*)(*)(@*)$(. It's my fault. I'm not taking my exercise serious.

Yes, Lisa it was the Total Gym. Did you like it? Did it work?

Congrats to all the losers. (Kelly, I am amused by this too.) And some of you are at or close to goal. Again I say, ()&(*^&*(&)*. Pardon my french.

Later, tonight. TTFN.

This sounds pretty good. I don't typically like any protein type drinks, but I'm like the others. I don't run I power walk or taebo, but I always feel hungry afterwards and for the rest of the day. I will def have to try this version!

WTG to everyone with a weight loss! :cool1: (Were the heck is the dancing banana??)

Erika had it sent to Exile Island. Sorry banana...the tribe has spoken :lmao:

Whoops. Forgot me. I'm down 2.1. Happy. Exercise - check - good. Eating consciously - hit and miss but fine.

Yeah for Lisa! :cheer2: Glad to hear you say the word "happy" :flower3:

I am up .8. %*#()$&()$*)(*)(@*)$(. It's my fault. I'm not taking my exercise serious.

You kin dooo eeet. :rotfl2: (ok Pedro...why isn't there a smiley with a sombrero?) :confused3

This is what I do. Very similar to Lisa....not quite as many ingredients.

1 container yogurt (most are 6 oz...I usually use vanilla, and usually fat free..just 'cause)
1 small banana
1/3 container (yogurt container that is...) water
1 TBSP sugar free nesquik choc. milk mix
1/2 scoop protein powder (the one I use is 25g protein per scoop. so I use 1/2)
1 or 2 teaspoons peanut butter. yes TEASPOONS. teensey amount...because...I need the fat (yes, I used fat free yogurt. I know. If I bought the reg yogurt, I could omit the p.butter...but then...other times I want just yogurt, and I want it fat free...so. there it is. I make it more complicated than it has to be!)

blend. Add about 1 - 1/2 cups ice....blend. drink carefully. It'll give you brain freeze! :lmao:

If I don't have bananas...I use whatever fruit.Canned pineapple is good. Sometimes I use vanilla protein powder & 1 TBSP of coconut for my fat source....mix it up a bit.
