In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Since someone has to do it, just wanted to let you know that it is about 80 degrees here right now...:rolleyes1 Love January in FL.

Evil Slu...:snooty:

It was 54 below with windchill this morning a few hours north...

He must absolutely earn that opportunity... I work with a bunch of ball busters and they get so frustrated because I don't give them much of an opportunity to bust mine (yes, I have a 'pair'... they come out when I get really angry...). The last time was about two years ago when I came in wearing two different shoes... Still haven't lived that one down...

Two different shoes :scared1: That is totally something that I would do.
He definitely has to earn the right to mock me!

Drinking water..refilling bottles..I seem to be able to pound down water better when drinking out of abottle than a glass...not sure why but Carsyn says the same thing...those of you who drink beer...not being stupid...but does beer go down easier in a bottle than a glass...like you drink it faster?

Yep indeedy, I always drink beer quicker from the bottle. I don't know why?

Okay, first of all. Kelly is BELLA. Remember? Adorably clumsy?

I am Bella. I am Bella. Got it!

So Kelly/Bella I am SO glad you have heat. Hole in the wall and all. And try arnica for the bruising. It's awesome stuff. I am sure you have it in any pharmacy there. You have much better pharmacies then we do. My mom still asks people to bring her home Boots brand cold medicine.

Boots cold medicine is excellent, I have a box right next to me!

BTW: Took your guys advice in looking at my weight loss in chunks...not just the big chunk...so changed my 1st goal to be 195...that is under the dreaded 200 mark...but not 199...because that is the lowest I got since being above 200 since roughly 1999...

I agree, its a great idea to break down the targets.

However, Kelly, LOVE the bruised "bummocks" comment. And I live my life that way too. I always say that if it weren't for bad luck, I would have none at all...

:rotfl: Yep, Im the same. I wouldn't know good luck if it came up and slapped me in the face wearing a 'Hi, Im good luck' sign.

Nancy - I am thinking of setting a trap for the tin bandit. Every week, new goodies appear. I will find them, and when I do they will rue the day they ever refilled the tin of sin!

Bummocks - I LOVE words that make me laugh. Yes, Im a grown, married woman who manages to hold down a job and a house but I will laugh at any funny word, any toilet humour and any noise that sounds remotely rude. Its a sickness I tell you! :rotfl:

I think I quoted everyone, apologies to those who I have missed - :wave2: to you all :flower3:

I can do this. Espically the loaded plate of veggies.

Kat - did you see we are both on our way to 2,000 posts? (Except I'm winning by like 32. Just sayin'.)

And Paula - you'll be at 1000 soon.

Wow... does that makes us cool? Or lame? I think I am going to go with cool. :cool1:

It is just dismal here today. Not really cold, per se, just nasty.

And in general, my personal recommendation would be 40+ lbs to goal, somewhere between 1300-1500. 40 and under to goal, 1200-1400 max. Also adjusting a bit for exercise, but not too much. WW point system bears me out some on that if you do the rough pt to calorie conversion. Also, try for at least 35g fiber, and 60g protein, and keep fat g to 40 max.

Above all, liquid calories are the worst because you don't even get the feeling-full benefit, which is a dieter's best friend. Regular soda, whole milk, fruit juices, bad. Drink water and eat the fruit, as you will get more fiber and nutrients that way. All dairy should be lowfat or nonfat (read the labels!!).

Ok Dawn...remember that you ASKED for advice, k? :rotfl2: :lmao:

What in the bloody hell (like my Brit reference Kel?) are you thinking drinking WHOLE milk!!! :scared1:

Unless you want your bummocks to DOUBLE in size, stay away from it like the ever-loving plague!

Don't tell me it is one of those "natural" things....(like eating the whole egg, etc.) cause while there is some truth to the egg issue, there are VERY few people on the planet who should be drinking whole milk. I can give the science here if needed, but have to go to the bus.

Another tip of the day since I am on this rampage...DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES. Juice is just sugar. And even milk has a ton of sugar in it (yes, really). WATER, green tea. Word.

I cant stomach whole milk! I drink skimmed milk if I ever feel the urge for a glass of milk. I know some people find it too 'watery', but I think its ok, you really do get used to it. Plus, when I was doing WW I could drink 3 times as much skimmed milk as whole milk for the same points!

Green tea and water are definitely the way to go. Word. (Always wanted to say that, don't even know if I used it right - don't much care if I did or not, it made me laugh! :lmao: )

Hey E, Word. Like your delivery better than mine. ;)

I do use skim milk in moderation. 1/4 cup with my fiber one (20 cals) and then dump the remainder into my coffee in place of cream.

D is going to the hockey game w/ his bro tonight so when I took the cat home from the vet, I picked up gym clothes and a 1/2 cup of ff cottage cheese for snack (along with a clementine) so I can make it through and have dinner after. Hopefully fat bummocks will NOT pass it by in favor of the couch...

I am listening...

The whole milk controversy...I will listen to the other POV...but I do know a lot of people who are health concious, skinny people...who swear by having the natural product...versus altering it..smae with whole grains vs refined...so tell me when you get back the other side...

I know it is higher calories...but if I am counting them...including them..enjoying it...will it matter? That is what I need to figure out.

As far as the juice...it is called
Naked juices
100% juice varities

no sugar added...and I can drink better than eat fruit...

For example...the Green Machine in 1 64 oz bottle that serves 8
has:
11 1/2 apples
2 1/3 bananas
2 kiwi Fruit
1 1/2 Mangoes
1/3 pineapple
spirulina, chlorella, broccoli, spinach, bue-green algae, garlic, barley grass, wheat grass, ginger and parsley

I only have one serving a day from a variety of kinds...but truthfully...I do like them better than eating the raw forms of many fruits...If I had ajuicer...I would totally use it...

Okay...I post my food because I do want to hear feedback...get suggestions...and I promise I do listen...I will take it all in I promise. :)

And Kat - thanks for your input on what range you think I should be at...:worship:

bow chicka bow bow

yes, I laughed out loud to this one.... the guys in my office actually stopped to notice...

thanks, I now have that running through my head...

Geebus this is a TOUGH crowd today!!

And for your information, it is in the 40s here today. So yes, below 70!! :upsidedow

Paula, wow! All this personal training stuff is making you into a bad-a$$. Love it!
I try....

Maine, utopia. Maybe it is because they are frozen solid for like 9 mos out of the year? Suspended animation and all that?

Back to a weight loss issue for a moment. Lyz, somewhere back like 900 pages ago (or seems like it anyhow) you asked how I could be at 700 cals and had eaten dinner already. I try my hardest to pack as much food as is humanly possible into each calorie. In some cases, it is subsitition (like ff milk or ff sour cream instead of regular). In some cases, it is just HUGE portions of veggies, like filling an entire plate of salad, and then small portions of lean meats or starches. I am sure to eat the veggies first, then eat the small portions very slowly, enjoying every bite.

For what its worth to the great calorie debate, JC has me at 1700 calories. My trainer said that was the perfect amount of calories for what we are trying to accomplish.

It seems to be working for me, for now anyways.

I may have broken up with diet soda for now, but you all should know that I do watch 2 hours of the old 90210 everyday and I love to play video games. Most recently guitar hero. And we eat dinner in front of the TV alot.

Since someone has to do it, just wanted to let you know that it is about 80 degrees here right now...:rolleyes1 Love January in FL.

OK you had me at the guitar hero - love that game, but then dropped me like an elephant off a roof with the 80 degree reference... to think I actually liked you at one point.... (jk lol...)

I know it is higher calories...but if I am counting them...including them..enjoying it...will it matter? That is what I need to figure out.

I agree with Dawn on this. Not milk. Yuck. But if you are enjoying something and counting it, then that's acceptable. I am not going to give up chocolate. No way, no how.

Sort of random question, Are fastpasses pretty much a necessity to get on TSM? We haven't been on yet so it is like the ONLY must do on my list for this trip aside from finishing the 1/2. The weekend we were there in early December the wait was 100 minutes and fast passes were long gone!! :scared1: :scared1: The only morning extra magic hours are the day of the 1/2.

And my 2 cents on the milk thing. I don't do whole milk. I have been drinking skim since I was 2, and whole just tastes like creamer to me. yuck. BUT, I do agree if you are counting/tracking it's fine in moderation. To me it's not much different than tracking beer, wine, whatever.

Consensus: Stay between my 1000-1500 like I have wanted to for optimal weight loss

My personal "I'm not a professional, but this is what I've learned from those who are" opinion, is that 1000 calories is not enough. Once in a while, a day like that is ok, but not all the time.

Your body needs a certain number of calories to function properly. And if you don't give it enough, over time it recognizes that, goes into a protective "starvation" state...where it actually starts slowing things down, so you need less and less just for daily "being".

Not too mention, that the deprivation that I would feel on only 1000 calories a day would only lead me to binging disaster. I need to know that this is something I can do for the long-haul. And I know for me, what that means in terms of calories. I am in the same ball park as Paula - when I am counting calories, I am looking for a daily average of 1750. Some days may be in the 1600 range, others in the 1900, or even 2000...but over the course of a week, my "big picture" should show an average of 1750.

(note: I'm currently counting WW points because I find it easier from the tracking standpoint. I've done this so long and so many ways...that I know that my 28 points are going to rough out to between 1700-1800 calories)

I would say that if you should go with a minimum of 1500 assuming you are getting at least some moderate exercise. Try it for a week or two and see how you feel. Your body will tell you if you need more. Slow, steady weight loss is by far the healthiest way to go - not to mention the method that is most likely to give you long-term success

We had this very discussion at dinner last night. (before the chaps part...:rolleyes1 ). I was reading the label on the soy sauce my son was chosing to drench his rice in...and we had quite the discussion on "RDA's"

What in the bloody hell (like my Brit reference Kel?) are you thinking drinking WHOLE milk!!! :scared1:

I LOVED your accent. I read it in the British accent! (I think it's because you WROTE it in British... )

Green tea and water are definitely the way to go. Word. (Always wanted to say that, don't even know if I used it right - don't much care if I did or not, it made me laugh! :lmao: )

OMG. Kelly/Bella (not sure that works for me. I almost wrote Kelly BELLY and that would just be wrong :sad2: )...anywho...you have me cracking up.

I know it is higher calories...but if I am counting them...including them..enjoying it...will it matter? That is what I need to figure out.

I have to agree here...whole milk is better than no milk - and if you are accounting for it's nutritional values, well then...I can't argue that so much.

I use butter. Not margarine, not "butter flavored spray"...butter. It's real, it's natural....yes, it's full of fat - but I account for that.

Just a warning...I'm going to throw a whole philosophical dialouge at you all - probably not until tomorrow, because I have a meeting tonight....just something to make you think a little...

Whooo boy. Do I ever feel sorry for LisaV and Steph...they'll have a lot of reading to do tonight popcorn:: (and yes, there WILL be a quiz :teacher: )

Nancy - thanks for the sites...but they are a bit puzzling still

The 1st site...said I should have 2542 calories a day...and if I want toloose...cut that number by 500-1000

The Mayo site which did not offer weight loss info...just calorie info...
Says I should have 2050 calories..

So starting points...are already 500 calories different

Consensus: Stay between my 1000-1500 like I have wanted to for optimal weight loss

Help me out people...what do you all think?

Dawn, here is my input. I believe that at 1000 you are not eating enough calories. Especially if you plan to up your exercise. I feel that the first calorie count of 2542 is too high and the second is more in the ballpark. This puts you around 1550 calories to lose and you could probably stay in the 1300 to 1600 range and lose weight as long as you up the exercise. FYI, I did the Mayo counter and it gives me a 1920 calorie count. I am 5'4" and weigh 138. No one slap me for that k... I usually eat in the 1600-2000 range depending on how much cardio I get that given day. Today, my count is up around 1700 already.

Also, on the whole milk issue. There are arguments on both sides. Atkins would tell you to take the full fat, full flavor version and you would lose weight that way. On the whole (no pun intended), I have to side with E though. Full fat is, well, fat laden and your fat cells just LOVE that stuff. Starve your fat cells to shrink them is my theory. Plus, whole milk has cholesterol and other baddy bad things inside that you don't enjoy so much. Weigh the pros and cons and make your own decision on the subject. If you choose the whole milk, you need to seriously watch your cholesterol and fat intake for the remainder of the day. Give and take. Try 1% and see if you can tolerate that....

Hmm, I guess that was it besides...:lmao: bummocks :lmao: seriously. Oh and Mike calls it "over coordinated" not clumsy. He swears he is more coordinated than the rest of the world and therefore has trouble with obstacles due to his cat like super powers. :sad2:

I did my walk/run for 5 miles today and 10 minutes of hard core work. I guess I am done for today. Tomorrow, I have to clean my house as the cleaning lady has a virus and she is down and out again. Good thing the kids went back to school and the house is not a total disaster. I have plans for the gym in the morning pending ETA of the storm.

Is anyone else as excited as I am that the new season of Biggest Loser starts tonight? :yay:

Is anyone else as excited as I am that the new season of Biggest Loser starts tonight? :yay:

I am, but it is on during my training session and I don't have Tivo or a DVR.... what ever will I do? Hulu anyone...

Always. And if I feel so inclined I will give you the royal wave.
:lmao:

laughing my **** off over that one... "if I feel so inclined..." :rotfl2:

Amy - TSM definitely needs a Fastpass, but we had luck getting in line at about 10 minutes before closing and still riding it. We watched Fantasmic, headed over to check out Osbourne Family Lights and decided to try and ride it before the park closed using the old tip of if you are in line when the park closes, you still get to ride it. The line was marked at a 40 minute wait, but I swear we were through there in 20 minutes. I heard a cast member saying that we'll open up xxx (can't remember what the term was) and this line will be gone in no time. Just be sure to get there about 10 - 15 minutes before closing time so you don't get cut off. Good luck.

Paula
