In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Ronda! Hi! Glad you are on board with us and you my sweet dear, have given me the new name of our new thread when we have to go to volume #5!

So you cannot go anywhere. You are integrated as easy as that!

Liz sans vicodin, has already picked up on it. She is quick and not just to a shoe sale! :rotfl2:

What's a Long John? Never heard of it.
It is a long donut that can or cannot have filling in the center and usually has a frosting/glaze on top. I love maple glaze. It is not a cake donut.

My Great Grandfather owned a bakery that was famous in MN and my grandfather and father were all cooks because of him. I now carry the torch. Serious all time dream...owning a bed and breakfast.

I think though I am a better cook than baker but I get requestds from all of the kids friends to make pancakes and caramel rolls all the time. Treyner has a friend who will come over at any time of the morning, afternoon or night and request my pancakes if he is having a bad day.

All my food is from scratch usually with no recipies. I am starting to write down what it is I make though since it is hard to replicate. My faveorite is gathering multiple leftovers and creating a new dish.

Back to the Long Johns:
MY GGF recipies are still used at the most famous bakery in MN. People pay for them to be flown all over the world. Esp his caramel rolls.

I would say that food tracking is great for you, especially if it seems like you are pinpointing how food reacts with your body.

Loving it.
You could try no processed sugar/flour and only whole grains. You could try gluten free, too, if you feel it's the gluten. In any case, tracking helps you make connections.

Yes - I think that is actually the culprit but I am not savy regarding this. Isn't gluten in any breads?

What's a Long John? Never heard of it.

From seriouseats.com - "Long John: A long, almost rectangular, filled doughnut, often iced."

It's like a donut plank. As I look around my office to find something similar in shape and size my eyes settle on the telephone handset. Bad long john, bad.

Is it too soon to say I love you? :rotfl: :lmao: :worship: ;)

I don't think we have those here. Hmm. I'm not the Donut Queen, though. I'll ask Nick. He'll know.

You guys don't know from pork roll, though, so we're even. :lmao:

Yes, gluten is in bread. And lots of other things. But there are gluten free grains out there, and they even make gluten free beer! So you can find substitutions. Gluten allergies are rare and hit you hard - perhaps you're just sensitive to gluten, or maybe it's just white flour and sugar affecting you. That's a pretty average reaction, I think.

The people I know with gluten allergies have a host of problems related to gluten, none of which I'd wish on my worse enemy.

Liz: Pork roll. OMG. I love it. I can never say no to pork roll! :lovestruc

Darn you Dawn and your picture of a long john. I have made it clear that I am a donut *****. Espically the cream filled ones. We call that delicious goodness at our local mom & pop donut shop a bismark. YUM.

G
Those shoes look exactly like mine, but mine are pink where those are blue. I have broken them in some now and I LOVE them. SOO much better than the crap I was wearing before.

Admit it you really like the pink.

LisaPR, I hear ya. I read back and starting quoting and realized that I just had to declare thread bankruptcy and be done with it!

YES! Kat you are the only one I'm quoting. I just can't quote them all.

Today was supposed to be a rest day. But, I got my skates sharpened yesterday and bought new insoles and really wanted to get a couple of minutes on the ice to try them out before the big game tomorrow night.

So, I got up around 7:25, got everything together, drove over to the rink, got on the ice around 8:25 (rink is 30 min away). I warmed up a bit and then the guys on the ice wanted to play pickup, so we played full ice pickup, 4 on 3, for 30 min. There were 4 adults and 3 kids and the kids skated rings around us!!

Awesome. Kat - the US womens olymics potentials were on the today show. You are going to have to go to Canada to see a game!

Kelly - great on the ww meeting. And I love reading you. You are so brit in my head. Mum. Ha. I'm going to call my mom mum, change it up from momala. Send some of the fire my way, chicka.

Liz - I have been praying for your mom and will add your buddy to my list. FWIW, I love it when you are here and on. Ya know.

Liz - the book Em wrote is hi lar ious. And we are so sisters. I am the same. "Go play, mommy's reading a book."

LisaPR - I have the same scenario at my house. Dad's the shining star and I'm the naghag. And I am the dependable parent. It's just the way it is.

EriKa - You are a can full of suprise. You got hit. With a car. Is this why your hammy is acting up? Because of this? (You do know what we do with underperforming hams at my house, right?) "Me Likey the Vik-y" :rotfl: Sorry you are trapped on the couch. (My idea of heaven, but whatev.)

Cammies photos are being exhibited. How did she do at the competition? I missed the results.

Amy - Deep Fried Pepsi! Yuck. Love the pics. I'm wearing the same shoes, but mine are 3(?) years old. Just for mucking around. (That was for you Kelly). I don't use them on the dm or for exercise.

Amiee - He was playing with your hair! ***Swoon***.

Dawn - your posts felt very light to me. Even with the unending drama your family is in, you are in a good place.

LisaV- Hiya Pal!

Steph - not enough posts. I'm going to turn you in. Just sayin'.

Paula - Jessie knows about us. hahaha. That's awesome. Take his picture for us.

Nancy - hmmm, what goodness are you making today? The goats. So cute. Every time the Arbys goat commercial comes on, I think of you. It's funny. "She's Hot"

Sarah - I have to say, I'm glad you're back. You do more than your fair share of carrying this thread when you are here. I can't do the 100 cal packs. I eat the whole box. Did you get your shoes dirty yet?

Stacey - not enough from you either. I know, I know. School and all that jazz. I'm teasing. I can't barely post and I'm not going to graduate school.

LisaZ - funny your husband running his mouth. Men! (I'm stopping right there, are you proud of me Liz?)

Ronda - Help me. You don't get that often do you, lol! Welcome to the party. And we are at the top alot! I'll grill you later. I just got to work and need to get something accomplished.

All for now. Sorry if I missed someone. I am in fear of doing just that. It won't be on purpose. It'll be cause I'm looney or in a sugar coma. Both excuses work. TTFN.

Oh yeah. We had a wind storm last night. The trampolene blew a bit. Exciting. I went to bed in my usual bed clothes, tank top and undies, and laid there wondering how fast I can throw on yoga pants and tshirt all while grabbing my children as the roof of my house blew off. Made for a restless night. I drempt about dental floss, getting stuck in the little tube between my mouth and my nose and I had to pull it out thru my nose. Weird.

Carsyn called last night and said that someone broke into lockers at the Y and stole multiple peoples things including her purse.

Oh, that stinks -- I'm so sorry for Carsyn! People seem to have less and less respect for other people's property...

The police pounded on our door 2 nights ago, because somebody robbed the house across the street -- found the hide-a-key and walked right in. They think it's kids from the neighborhood. Makes me sick to think of it. And angry.

Welcome to you and your pets!

Hi Ronda! Welcome! And thank you for not being named Lisa, Liz/Lyz, or Amy/Amiee. :lmao:

Sorry, I love all of you - Amy, Amiee, Lisa V, PR, and Z. It's just that it's easy to type Ronda! Original!

Okay....I might be offended. But probably not. :lovestruc

#5 I am so greatful to have Dan in my life and that he and I are doing this together. Making changes. Evaluating meals and decessions and figuring out what we really enjoy in food vs what we craved out of habit.

I love to hear you so happy! :cutie:

This has been a good week for me. I stayed on track with my exercise and food, and hopefully will continue to make progress. Have a great day!:flower3:

Thanks! My shoes are still clean. I have only run in them once and that was on a rainy day too! They managed to stay white. LOL!

I know if I have been eating fairly healthy and I dump junk on my system like high-fat meats and sour creams and such, it can mess my stomach up.

Most mexican tortillas and taco shells are made with corn flour, and are low on gluten if they even have any. Even the flour tortillas tend to be lower in carbs (and therefore white flour) than whole wheat bread. I have a friend with a gluten allergy and have made food for her before, and Mexican food is usually a favorite.

Pasta, donuts, crackers, even whole wheat breads, have a ton of refined flour.

Believe me, trying to do low carb low calorie I am looking at, inspecting, researching EVERYTHING to do with refined flours and sugars and how to find foods that don't have them.

As to donuts, I am not a fan. They always sit like a lump in my stomach, and I get that sugar aftertaste that makes me feel kinda icky, even in the midst of a bad eating binge.

I also know that any time I start eating healthy/reducing portion sizes, it can take 1-3 weeks for my system to adjust. Fatigue, stomach issues, etc. are normal. That is why a lot of people don't stick with the changes they are making and give up.

I say give anything at least 2 weeks to a month before trying a different approach. That is why I committed to a month of this experiment Mr Kat and I are trying, just to see what the difference would be like.

Well said.

Is this the place to put this, or does someone edit the post at the top?

Welcome Ronda! :cool1:

Yes - I think that is actually the culprit but I am not savy regarding this. Isn't gluten in any breads?

Oh my, those Long Johns look mighty fine and chocolatey!

It's like a donut plank. As I look around my office to find something similar in shape and size my eyes settle on the telephone handset. Bad long john, bad.

:lmao: You have me laughing out loud! Bad long john! :rotfl:

You guys don't know from pork roll, though, so we're even. :lmao:

I do not know what pork roll is :confused3

Kelly - great on the ww meeting. And I love reading you. You are so brit in my head. Mum. Ha. I'm going to call my mom mum, change it up from momala. Send some of the fire my way, chicka.

Sometimes shes mama, mostly mum though! Fire coming your way - I am ON tonight! Just dragging the cross trainer out now!

What is pink???

Yes, come on Erika. Laptop. Couch rest. That's my life you're describing! :lmao:

I wish mine were pink... LOL... After I bought mine I saw they had them online in pink and was totally bummed!!!

Hi Gang...

Ugh - I have had a craptastic day today and just want to crawl into a hole. Nothing major going on, but the effects of the economy have finally hit me personally and I am not liking it at all. I know there are others out there who have it far worse than I do so I have much to be grateful for, but I really would love it if this gloom and doom would just go away.

Anyways, you all have been a chatty bunch so that is a bright spot.

Ronda - welcome!!!! Hope you like it here and wait until the runners learn about your race. You wanted support, you may be running away from all of the support you'll get.

Amy - thanks for all of the pics from the fair. The thought of all of that fried food actually made my stomach flip and not in a good way.

Liz - you are just too funny today

Nancy - don't work too hard

Kat - look at you getting up early to work out. Would you like to borrow my flashlight?

Stacey - So not worthy of complaining about being tired compared to you. Juggling work and grad school... :worship:

Sarah - It is time to dirty those new running shoes. C'mon - you know you want to.

Lyz - Hope your day went well and you got lots done at work. I can almost see the top of my desk again. I should be there by tomorrow.

Kelly - so, what did you end up having for dinner?

Amiee - how's the car? Still being worked on? :rotfl2:

LisaV / Lisa Z / Lisa PR - what are you all up to - besides watching snow melt...

Steph - it is not that cold in the north country... do I need to send a search team out for you?

Erika - curious to hear how you made out at the orthopedist. Hope all is well.

I hope I caught everyone. My apologies if I didn't, but my mind is officially mush at this point. I am off to grab some dinner and get a good work out in.

Talk to you all later,
Paula

Pink in Kat's girly girl shoes. I'm saying she really likes it. She's denying.

What is everyone having for supper?

Of course she is denying it. You know that means she really does like them...:rotfl:

I am having cashew chicken and rice from jenny craig with some type of veggie mixed in (it depends on what is in my freezer at the moment).

And what are you having?
