In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Hello Girls
So today I thought I was going to be in for another day like I had yesterday! Without the working! I just rolled over to snooze again and I hear Zac yelling where are my skating jeans! THen I hear Tyler say HMMM I HAVE MINE! Then I hear MOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM Where are my skating pants! WHY do you want to know Zac? Is there skating today! He looks at me and says YEAH MOM? DUH! I couldn't move fast enough he grinned at me from the end of the hall and stephen walked in and I asked R you going to skating with them. NO I am to busy today! GReat! So after skating I went to Lowes and Steph wanted some fans that go in the corner of the door ways to push or rather suck the heat from the living room to other parts of the house! I happened to stop at the paint department and ask about panting over Old YUCKY (that 70's show)dark wood paneling. Is it possible to do! YES I was told so I bought the stuff and I have spent the afternoon painting my bathroom. It's starting to look good! Big and brighter. Let's see I also look brighter considering I have paint all over me! (notice I didn't say bigger).
Oh bought Breaking Dawn yesterday! I was so glad to get home after work and I had plans to sit and read, DIDN"T HAPPEN! Stephen was up waiting for me to come home. GREAT!!! ( OK so here is the thing... I would rather read than EXERCISE!:scared1: ) So I tried to bring it to skating and read while kids skated ... didn't happen because everyone stopped me say Oh aren't those books good! UM YEAH CRACK ON PAPER GOOD! They all agreed! So tonight the kids will go to bed and stephen not far behind them then I CAN READ ALL NIGHT IF I CARE TO!
Ok off to finish cooking dinner and try to get this paint off my hands!

nancy former barn owners ought to be put in jail!

Agreed.

We just spent 1 1/2 hours in our OWN barn. But it was only 4 of us (DH, me & 2 of the kids, who, at that point would only count as 1/2 person total  )....so I spent a grand total of 5 hours today shoveling sh!t. :scared: My back is KILLING me. I really wish I had worn my heart-rate monitor so I knew how many calories I burned. I went on to FitDay to try and figure out approx how many calories that would be, so I can kinda-sorta figure out how to count it towards my exercise total (because it SO counts.). The closest 2 options were "shoveling snow" which for my age/height/weight is 300 calories per hour and gardening/digging/spading/filling for 240 calories per hour.

ugh.

I think I'll only count it as 60 minutes toward my goal, since that was what I had originally planned for exercise today anyway...:confused3 ...the rest, I'll just call "bonus".

Now I have to figure out dinner....gotta be healthy...we ended up with pizza for lunch, after that first "job" that we did. :headache: ...and I'm enjoying a bit of "group therapy" right now

Food is a drug for me. EriKa likes alcohol. I like food.

Count me with Nancy on the both!!

Okay, sorry I have been so MIA. I had some trouble finding the wagon to jump back on it.

Today, I think I might be on the right road. I shopped for all healthy foods, cleaned out fridge, freezer, and pantry. Including taking everything out of the fridge, throwing out everything past its due date, and windex/washing the shelves.

And, right now I think I could eat the cat if it weren't for the fur in the teeth problem...

Heck yeah it counts! Mucking stalls has to be more than 300 calories per hour. Especially if you had to re-bed the stalls. You have my sympathy. Been there done that! Used to have thoroughbreds. Wow, horses can be so messy! :rotfl:

I walked almost 4 miles today. I stopped by the mall with my MP3 (our mall has mile markers, woo hoo). That was a good hour. Good grief! I leave for a few hours and I come back to tons of posts again.

Lisa - School starts next monday the 12th, i'm getting a little antsy! Thanks for asking!

Paula - Thanks so much, it's great to know i have people to back me up!

Nancy - good lord, if i had to shovel that much.... ugh, bless your heart girl

So i've only been on weight watchers for 3 days and already i'm shocked by the amount of mindless eating and calories i have been ingesting. :scared1: I'm finding it really easy to use. Went grocery shopping today and not 1 thing in my cart was unhealthy, tons of fruits and veggies and lean meat. Bruce is even on board tracking points as well, so hopefully this is the extra little boost that I needed.

omg did someone say pizza hut...... :sad1: i want some!!!

OKay day one of detox SUCKS!!!

However, just spent a few hours with Obesity Day on Discovery Health... if that isn't motivation I don't know what is!!

2 of the stalls at the "other" barn were horse stalls....the others were the "ark" of animals! goats, chickens, and...I don't even KNOW what else used to live there :confused3

We don't have horses...we have goats. Currently 31, but we have 6 pregnant mommas due in 2 weeks (total of 18 pregnant girls)...and 2 cows. And chickens. :rolleyes1

Good job on the shopping! Mindless eating is a HUGE problem for me. Tracking is always a major reality check :headache: Didn't do too bad today...will post my totals in a bit

What is it that Erika says? Oh yeah...WORD! :rotfl2:

On that note...I think I'll go make a cup of green tea....

Okay, tracking.

B: Coffee
L: (at 5PM!): sandwich (115), clementine (35)
D: 8 oz chicken livers (250), baked potato (100), broccoli (30), 2 Tbsp ff sour cream (25)

Total, 555. Will likely have a snack of ff popcorn to bring it to 750 or so. Water, not enough. Exercise, lots of shopping, cleaning the fridge/kitchen, but nothing real.

I promise to be more present this week. Like, quote and such. The last month has just been draining, sorry if I haven't really been around. I have been reading, just haven't had the ability or energy to respond. Sinking back into my old eating/drinking issues, travelling, holidays, etc.

That all changes as of today. I am probably facing down at least 30 lbs, probably more. NOT going to weigh until I have been at this at least a week or two, because it will make me suicidal.

SO I got a BONUS tonight!
Grandma came home with Sam to get some clean clothes because she wanted to spend another night with her! And they BOYS WHINED that they wanted to go to! SO Grandma said get your stuff! I have NO KIDS and STEPH IS IN BED SLEEPING! YAY WHOO:woohoo: :woohoo: Breaking Dawn Here I come!

HAVE A GREAT NIGHT! YOu know what would top this off would be some wine!

Kat - this is my arm reaching out to pull you back onto the wagon.... just need you to reach up and take it...

you can get back on track and get back to where you want to be... I know it... where is the tough as nails hockey player I met...

Don't make me force you to wear your tiara again....

Hi gang...

hope everyone is enjoying their weekend... things are pretty quiet up here... cold, quiet and relaxing...

off to bed for me... talk to you all in the morning,
paula

Kat, I don't know how you do that. :confused3 I just cannot keep myself away from the food!

I have NO KIDS and STEPH IS IN BED SLEEPING! YAY WHOO:woohoo: :woohoo:

Enjoy your time alone! :woohoo: And if it's wine you need...I've got plenty

Paula - are you still feeling good after your workout? I'm so happy for you that things are going well with your trainer. Can't wait to get started with mine! :goodvibes

Today's food...not so great. Not awful, but not great. I was totally out of sync today. I do best when I eat 6 times a day....by the clock. If I don't eat at regular intervals, I get really hungry...then I do something stupid. Like today for example :rolleyes1

Anyway...my total points for today were 30 (again, on the high side) PLUS my wine, which I didn't count at all :headache:

Exercise - well...we all know what I did today, so I'm hoping I'm cancelling out my extra intake :confused3 but I'm counting it as 60 minutes toward goal for a "grand total" of 135/1500 minutes.

Paula - you are inspiring with all that you are doing and with your words to people. :lovestruc

Yeah Kat - hop on. I was definitely off and feels great to be back on. Come. Come.

Also Kat - is that a regular calorie amount? I've often noticed that you track low. I'm asking because that's not a lot of food. :confused3 And you don't want your body to get used to that. It's not good for one's metabolism. Are you one of those strange strange people that doesn't like food? ;)

Nancy - is it wrong that I like the smell of manure? :lmao: :rotfl: It is, isn't it? It smells fresh to me. But not the pig or fake stuff. oooh eeeeeeee. You must be sore from all that shoveling.

Steph - yeah for Grandma!!! Yippee!!!

Okay guys - hope everyone is having a nice evening.

Hey Kat - are you catching the juniors? We just won in a shoot out after overtime.

Liz - Thinking of you. Love to you.

Just popping in to say good night. Seriously, I have never been so looking forward to a Monday before. I need my routine back. I will miss the kids when they go back to school, I always do. But still. I need my normal life and schedule.

Today, finally, I said good-bye to the holidays. We were away for New Year's, as I said. Came back home on New Year's Day. Then on the 1st and 2nd my brother was here with his wife and 2 of their 5 kids. An hour after they left on the 2nd, my sister was here with her husband and they left today at 3pm. Each time it was more presents, more food, more catching up and visiting. Wonderful to see everyone. 4 out of my 5 sibs have been here at some point over the holiday, so that was great. But again, I am just done and need my life and my house back.

Liz. You've been with me all day. In a funk with you. I know what it is like to be done with a disease only to have it come back too soon. Just been feeling it all day. Can we talk on Monday? Let's try. Tomorrow is awful for me, though I will have my phone with me on my run, so we can chat then as well.

Kat, I don't know how you do that. :confused3 I just cannot keep myself away from the food!

Today was totally by accident. I ran out of the house because I needed to get to the vet to get food before they closed at noon, then decided to meander around a few stores before doing some much needed grocery shopping. By the time I knew it, it was 5PM and no food yet!!

Yeah Kat - hop on. I was definitely off and feels great to be back on. Come. Come.

Also Kat - is that a regular calorie amount? I've often noticed that you track low. I'm asking because that's not a lot of food. :confused3 And you don't want your body to get used to that. ...

Hey Kat - are you catching the juniors? We just won in a shoot out after overtime.

I LOVE food. I do try to make my max at 1200 or so.

There are a few things at play here. One, I am assuming that labels lie (and that I lie to myself!), so I am probably adding at least an extra 100 calories more than I am counting. Like on cooking spray, I don't count that, or a sprinkle of 2% cheese on my salad, or not measuring my salad dressing exactly. You know? Even I'm not that anal!!

Two, I usually have a "cheat" night about once every 2 weeks, to balance it out. Sort of like the extra WW pts.

And three, I try to leave at least 200-300 calories for night time snacking, or a beer or glass of wine. If I don't have something semi-healthy lined up, I might have a tendency to say screw it and eat everything I can find. But sometimes, I am not hungry and don't want the food, so I don't eat it. :)

Tonight, my extra calories were 1 pint of beer and 1 bag of ff popcorn. That probably added 400 to my total, which makes it roughly 950-1000, which is much better than 500 (too low!!).

I have two other goals besides the tracking. I want to start eating a better breakfast, and I want to start hitting the gym at lunch again. I was a lot more successful when those goals were hit at least a few times a week

Erika, sorry you are in a funk.

I know what you mean about a routine, I am looking forward to getting back to one myself.

And Liz, . Always here for you if you need it.

I leave for WDW in 3 weeks. Just in time to derail the wagon again...

Good morning everyone! I hope the day is looking a little brighter for you all today. :goodvibes

Liz, Sending good thoughts through your tough times.

Erika, in a funk, aw come on....:confused3

Steph, I hope you enjoyed your time alone with your book. It must be nice....

Kat, glad to hear that calorie intake was not the norm for you. Too little is just as bad as too much. I know it sounds funny but it is all too true. I try to keep a Fiber One bar or the like in my purse, more than one usually because my kids raid them. Anyway, that way, I have something when I realize I am hungry that will fill me up in a good nutritional way instead of grabbing something that I shouldn't.

Nancy, cleaning stalls (especially not your own) definitely counts as exercise. Props to you girlfriend. I could not clean up the ark section, I could do the horsey section though. I thought I wanted pigs once until I had to wrestle one to the ground on the main street of my town after it tried to escape from the truck it was in on the way to the butchers. It is a story for another day, for sure....popcorn:: Suffice it to say that we do NOT have pigs. We had horses until I just flat ran out of time to spend with them and we still have cows for beef only. Organic beef because we know what we feed them. I would have goats but Mike would ship me off with them.....:rolleyes1

Everyone else, :yay: That's me doing jumping jacks and waving at the same time, you know, making the most of my down time like Erika said...:lmao:

As for me, yesterday was my official last day of bad eating. We ate out every meal...I just cannot handle that any more. On the up side, I did obsessively weigh myself this morning out of curiosity (or not) and I was down a half a pound. It must have been the blueberry beer.... I also did not exercise. Saturday is my traditional day of total rest or laundry however you want to look at it. I figure I deserve one day a week with no exercise. Today I am supposed to log 9 miles but I don't see that happening either. Shelby has field hockey and has to goalie 2 teams which takes most of the day. Yesterday was a mini swim meet for David. I am so proud of my little man. He did all four strokes (free, back, flye and breast) and stuck it out the entire length of the pool. He is doing really well and he has a kick butt back stroke!! Shelby also attended her cousins gymnastics meet yesterday and decided to go back on Monday. Yay, another $120 a month for eternity....:sad2: There goes the WDW trip... Anyway, today is better eating, some exercise even if not the entire 9 miles and hopefully some results by Friday!!

Erika, are you still doing the HM in A WEEK???!!!! I am so excited for everyone going. Oh and that was the other thing that I wanted to say, all of you who want that Princess tiara medal, you DO NOT have to run these races. You can walk. There are many who do the full and half marathons this way. There are pacing requirements but you can do this!!! Yes you can. Give it some thought anyway, that tiara medal is very enticing. If I didn't have the CMM full a short month later, I would be there too!!!!!

Good Sunday morning, everyone :sunny: My back muscles certainly are *aware* today! :goodvibes

I was really excited to hear my DD tell me that she wants to do that hip-hop dvd with me :woohoo: She's 13...and built like me. solid. :headache: So the exercise will be good for her. Well, that is...if we can get thru it without hurting ourselves...or peeing our pants from laughing at each other ;)

Nancy - is it wrong that I like the smell of manure? :lmao: :rotfl: It is, isn't it? It smells fresh to me. But not the pig or fake stuff. oooh eeeeeeee.

Ummm...if it's wrong, I don't want to be right! Seriously though - I much prefer the "fresh country smells" to the "city" odors....guess it's just what I've grown up with...

Just popping in to say good night. Seriously, I have never been so looking forward to a Monday before. I need my routine back. I will miss the kids when they go back to school, I always do. But still. I need my normal life and schedule.

I'm looking forward to a normal routine too. But guess what. The weather man gave me some news I did NOT want to hear. Later today/tonight...sleet. icing. OK...should be over by morning, so if there are road problems, the kids should still go to school, maybe late. THEN...Tuesday night into Wednesday? MORE STINKIN' SLEET/freezing rain. enough already. Can't we PLEASE get a full week of school??? (they already had 2 snow-days before Christmas!:sad1: )

<phew> mini-rant over....sorry...:flower3:

But again, I am just done and need my life and my house back.

AMEN to that!

Like on cooking spray, I don't count that, or a sprinkle of 2% cheese on my salad, or not measuring my salad dressing exactly. You know? Even I'm not that anal!!

I don't count those things either...I totally get that giving yourself a "buffer zone" thing

I have two other goals besides the tracking. I want to start eating a better breakfast, and I want to start hitting the gym at lunch again. I was a lot more successful when those goals were hit at least a few times a week

Eating a decent breakfast was probably the one change that made the most impact on me. Positive impact, I mean ;) Now I can't function without it  [/QUOTE]

I leave for WDW in 3 weeks. Just in time to derail the wagon again...

Totally jealous! ;) But hey - 3 weeks ON the wagon before you leave is much better than 3 weeks OFF of it, right?

I thought I wanted pigs once until I had to wrestle one to the ground on the main street of my town after it tried to escape from the truck it was in on the way to the butchers.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Organic beef because we know what we feed them. I would have goats but Mike would ship me off with them.....:rolleyes1

 Ohhh..but goats are SO easy. :rolleyes1 and cute. Definitely cute.

And might I add...I'm really glad your back here with us :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a good one....

Hey Kat!

I was just teasing about the not loving food - there are those strange people in the world. :confused3 I was sure you weren't one of them. I've heard food stories from you. They usually have me salivating - especially Mexican.

I now understand about the totals. Gotcha.

Breakfast - just curiious - I know a lot of people who can't stomach breakfast. Me - I can eat supper foods for breakfast. After I came home from Japan I can eat just about anything in the morning. Are you rushed or It's not your thing? That's a great goal - eating it. It does make a difference.

Okay - thanks for clarifying your tracking. I was getting a tad motherly.

Kat - you're off to WDW soon. Yeah! Lucky you.

Nancy - here's to manure. :lmao: My friends think I"m quite strange. But I don't care.

Erika - curious I am. Where do all your siblings live? I know one is in NYC. The others? I don't know why these things intrigue me so. :lmao: And when is your cruise?

Lisa - hi Lisa. Congrats on the down. I really would love to hear the pig story. They are pretty fierce when need be, eh?

Hi Liz :surfweb: Think about you all the time.

Stacey - thinking about the start of school. Exciting.

Hi to everyone!

Amy - miss you. Where are you?
