In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

I love Jesus, but I drink a little...

that was hysterical. :rotfl:

Listerine :rotfl2:

Hi everyone,

Feeling like crap today thanks to my head cold, but wanted to chime in on a few things.

Sorry you feel cruddy, Paula! :flower3:

Nancy - no obscenities screamed at Jessie yet,

I love the way you qualified this. no obscenities "yet" :lmao:

I am starting my first real conversation with one of the guys I have been chattring with online tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. (and Amiee, you can start busting on me with the comments...)

Good luck, Paula. pixiedust:

I just watched BL from last night. Wow. Lots goin' on there, huh? I am not at all surprised that Joelle & Carla don't speak to one another. That was a very toxic relationship. :sad2: They were so bad for each other, really. I still think Joelle was a big whiner cry baby who had serious issues that she needed to work on, but she definitely was not helped at all by Carla's badgering her relentlessly. :sad2: I am definitely happy for them in that they both are losing weight though. And on their own terms. Which, I think we may all agree, is the way to be successful :goodvibes

One thing really bothered me though. And that's when Jillian made a comment about the muscle gain/smaller measurements but no weight loss being, basically, a farse. Implying that the scale is the only true measure of success. I would really like to believe that she was speaking to the specific case of Aubrey who lost 2 pounds in 30 days, and not as a general rule.:confused3

Thanks Nancy. I'll be fine. Thankfully, tonight is my one of my off nights at the gym so I can get some rest.

I didn't watch BL last night, but I agree with you that the scale is not the only measurement of weight loss / success. Measurements, energy level, weight, attitude, etc. all contribute to success. I like the BL, but it is an unrealistic approach to weight loss that most of America can't sustain for the long term. Slow and steady wins the race right?

Its quiet around here today. We must all be out having great days right?
Paula

Hey everyone..time to join the best weight loss thread on Wish and make 2009 a year of change for you!

Please answer the following questions about yourself...and we will post them in one large format here that everyone can follow for a cast of charachters synopsis...

#1 Name/Family

#2 What you are the Most Proud of for the Year 2008 in terms of weight loss/excersize/healthy choices

I actually gained 15 pounds in 2008.#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living

I would like to lose that 15 pounds and tone my entire body. My thighs are not cute!

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals

Advice and Guidance!! Should I do Jenny Craig or something? I do not have much will power. All of my family can eat anything they want! I dont buy the junk, but my husband does and I canNOT bear to not eat it when they are!! If its there, I am going to eat it. Maybe if I had prepared food that I knew that was just for me, that may help?

#5 A famous person you would love to have the body of...because each of us has a different body style and the realities that go along with it...

Hmmm.... I am not sure. I dont want to be a toothpick or anything. I would like to be a toned size five! I am, or was a 7, they still fit, but just a little tight.

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies...
I dont have one!! Maybe thats the problem?

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! :lmao: )

I am hear because I want to lose 15 lbs by SUMMER!!

Somebody HELP ME!!!

Well here I am again... Seems like I am bad about being a regular here... LOL... Where to start... Well from the time I went to Disneyland in Oct/November until January 1st I gained about 20 lbs!!! I couldn't believe it but I know I ate well... lol... Holidays were tough... It was my first holiday without my dad, work is still stressing me out and my mom put her dog down... The last was the real kicker... We got Max when I was in 8th grade and he helped my mom through the past 6 months... She put him down the week of Xmas because he had a torn rectal wall and the surgery was going to cost 4000 bucks and wasn't guaranteed to fix everything. He was 11 and a very good dog. By the way did anyone I sent Xmas cards to get them?

Now to the present... I'm mostly back on track... started working out this week... gained half a lb this morning and flipped :scared: .... I hate working out hard and eating well then gaining... I've since calmed myself...

DH and I decided that in May we are doing a 5k for the Zoo here! We are going to start getting ready on the 16th which is when he goes back to DAYS!!!! Thats right in less than 2 weeks I will no longer have the stupid hellish sleep schedule... :cheer2: We also have gone hiking the past 2 weekends (won't this weekend because of weather) and plan to continue to hike every weekend. I will put pics up if anyone wants to see.

I decided after talking to Kat that I should also have some monthly goals... They are as follows:

1. Work out at least 3 days a week.
2. Hike at least once a week (weather and husband permitting)
3. Not beat myself up for falling off the wagon and not let it derail the rest of my week.
4. Drink at least 10 cups of water a day.
5. Cheat only once a week... not the whole weekend.

I think that should be about all for now... I am kind of at a loss as to what else to tell ya...

My name is Heather. I am 5' 2" and I weigh 138 lbs. I have been married to a sailor for eight years. We have a 6 year old (he will be 7 on the 28th!) and a 4 year old daughter. We live in San Antonio right now. Anything I am leaving out??

Hi Sarah! I see you. Are you coming out to play?

Hi Paysensmom. 15lbs eh? Tell us about yourself.

Sarah - I'm glad you found your way here. Good job Kat. Yes, I got the Christmas card. CLASSIC! Love that movie.

SO you bulked up, did you? I think a few of us did that. Your goals are great. Just jump in the mix. Yesterday the debate was healthy food vs. food that's within calorie range, even if it is cake. Same old same old. Everyone helping each other in this battle of the bulge.

Heather. (Don't we have another Heather? I seem to be lost anymore.) Texas! Have you been lurking? or are you new to us? How old are you?

I try to do a bit of both as far as healthy and within calories... 100 calorie packs are usually how I get my unhealthy stuff...

We do have another Heather... CHBC I think is her sn...

Welcome back, Sarah! Nice to chat today.

Welcome, Heather.

Okay, I am going out with Nick for dinner. And to see the band we like, Marah. It's not Cake. But they are good. :rotfl2:

Okay, catch you all later!

Hi paysensmom :wave2:

Yah know, once upon a time, long, long ago - there was somebody who used to play with us whose name was reeeaaallly similar to yours :rolleyes1

 How are things going for you, Sarah???? :confused3

Still haven't found them around here. Apparently we are tofu-phobic in this neck of the woods :lmao:

Things are going... DH survived 2 layoffs from his company and will be on days (only reason is they moved EVERYONE to days in order to save money... he will lose his 7% differential)... I still have my job but get screwed over all the time... Few months back I lost 400 take home and now they changed commission stuff so I'll probably make little to no commission... But at least I have a job... other than work and diet not a lot is really going on... Like I mentioned gonna start trying to run soon... (Hear that E!!) Who knows maybe I'll really like it... :thumbsup2

I havent been lurking!! I usually do that on the budget board! I am 28 years old. Glad to meet all of you!! :goodvibes

Took me forever. The only places around here that carry them are Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and the Asian market. The Asian market did not have the tofu-added ones.

Mr Kat is a lot like Mr Sarah, no way will he touch something that has the word tofu on it. He may try the non-tofu version once he gets bored, though.

I think I might declare thread bankruptcy. I just don't know if I am going to find time until way after it is no longer relevant...

SARAH!!!!! Welcome Back!!!! Missed you girl...
I am over the moon thrilled that your hubby is finally moving to the day shift. I know how hard it has been for you to deal with that. OK - go and serve those extra 20 pounds their eviction notice because their time is up and it is time to go.

Peysonsmom - aka Heather - Welcome to this crazy bunch. Jump in, share a little about yourself, your program, your struggles. We all feed off of each other's knowledge for inspiration so add what you can and take what you need.

I am calling it a day and heading home. If all goes as planned, I'll be eating dinner, changing into some comfy warm clothes and settling in for a phone call with the new prospect and then some Twilight reading. I'm sure I'll check in here at some point. It is one of my two rest days at the gym and I need the break tonight to kick this cold out of my head once and for all.

Talk to you all later,
Paula

Hi Sarah!!!!! Lovely to see you. Missed you.

Hi Heather. A big welcome to you.

Well Twilight. Just realized I left it in Uxbridge. Forgot to put it in my bag to come down home here. So the weekend.

I tried on jeans today. And this pair didn't fit well. Fit but didn't like the fit. And guess what - tried on the lower size and they fit. It was a 12!!!! Now that's a plus store 12. So that means I am completely in 14s in regular. :cheer2: So shocked.

Vain moment here, ready -

But I am losing my A$$. And I am not a happy camper!!!:rotfl2: I have always had a good a$$ and you know I must have if Ms. humble can say that. I'm royally pissed.:lmao: :rotfl:

And youngins - lose the weight now!!!!! Really. It's not just my age - I have thin skin and it's not bouncing back. So youngins - lose it now!!! Respect your elders.

Kelly - if I could afford the airfare I would come and stalk you. A visit to the UK would be lovely.

Just curious, that's me.

I tried to put my crown on and it's not working. :sad2:

Also, the wonderful thing about eating healthy is that a lot of "hunger" and cravings and yearnings, if they are not emotionally based, are due to lacking nutrients.

So getting nutrients is not only big in general terms - it helps in the weight loss journey.

Heather - Ohh I like the budget board too!

I wondered if you were lurking, cause most people have been when they join so they already "know" us. We are a clean slate with you, ha!

I count calories. We all do different plans. I guess the biggest success stories of 2008 would be:

HockeyKat/Kat - who mostly counts calories and exercises
3DisneyKids/EriKa - who is a vegetarian and exercises all, I mean ALL the time, and is a runner
SeptemberGirl/Liz - who does weight watchers and is exercising more this year than last

(I mention these, cause they have picture proof, before and afters that are astonishing.)

and
LisaViolet/Lisa - who eats what she wants, but exercises (we don't have picture proof, but she has lost much weight.)

This year, it seems quite a few of the members are on fire and the results are showing.

We have a spring challenge just starting. It ends March 15 (?). We set personal goals and update each week. On Friday. Those who complete the challenge are awarded the pink tiara you can see in the signatures.

ERIKA - Will those be taken away if not completed the next time? Is it one tiara at a time or a collection of tiaras? I think it should be one, so you work to keep it, but we don't want to minimize the hard work accomplished in the past. Hmmm, let me know challenge czar. One more thing. Is Friday the first day of the challenge or the last day? I exercised last Friday, so do I include it in my Friday challenge update or include this Fridays exercise?
