In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

I'm running late, so i can only post for a second, but it's monday, and that makes me sad....

2009 Rates here i come! :scared1: I have to fight the urge to go out and get fast food at lunch (usually used as a chance to escape the office, we'll see how good my willpower is!)

I hope everyone has a great day!

I took a class earlier in the year to learn how to knit socks. I have a sock... still need to finish the second one... :rotfl:

I love socks! They are so fun...well, if you think knitting on toothpicks is fun...:rolleyes1 I haven't done a sweater in a long time. (I think I have committment issues  ) I like the small, portable projects...stuff I can pick up and put down for weeks on end and still be able to figure out where I left off.

2009 Rates here i come! :scared1: I have to fight the urge to go out and get fast food at lunch (usually used as a chance to escape the office, we'll see how good my willpower is!)

Be strong! If you need to escape the office...just make a healthy choice while you are out. You can do it - I know you can. :thumbsup2 And you'll feel all the better for it :goodvibes

I'm headed to the gym...I think it'll be a "combo-cardio" day...I'll bike, elliptical, run...a little of everything!

STEPH - where the heck have you been, woman????

HAPPY MONDAY! Busy, busy day for me. But then...after today (well, after tonight b/c I will be working all night), then things slow way, way down for me. So I am looking forward to that.

J is home all week, though, so that tends to gum up the works. We have a system around here, me and the kids, and when he is around during the week we all just get out of whack! Neither good nor bad...just out of whack and the system gets all fouled up.

Paula, football is probably my favorite sport to watch. Def a Buckeye fan. It's part of the Ohio culture. Totally crazy! Like Madelines kindergarden class had a party friday, just for the game.

That is how it is here with the Red Sox. And of course, I am a Yankees fan, and thus my children are as well. Every Friday of the regular season is Team Spirit Day where the kids wear Sox gear or the color red or whatever. My kids stand proud in their Pin Stripes. Unless the Sox just beat the Yankees, in which case they dress in all black.

The reality is that we are not "true" fans at all. None of us (not even Jeff) watch any sports games on tv. Not sure how or why, but that is just how it is. On campus, I have total fun with it, though. Like, if students wear a Red Sox had or shirt on an exam day, I tell them it is an automatic 5-point deduction. OR...they can earn extra credit points if they write the phrase "Yankees Rule, Red Sox Drool" on their exam sheet. It is really fun and they like that I joke around with them about it. But I can't back it up at all...I have no real knowledge of what is going on in the sporting world.

It is FREEZING cold here...bone-chilling cold. So I am waiting to go for a run till like 9:30. I can't do it this afternoon since it is jumbotron day.

AMY--if it is going to be in the 50s, wear either shorts or capri running tights. You will get way too warm in long tights, I would think. My rules are as follows: 50s and higher = shorts. 40s = capris; 30s = tights; 20s and lower = tights with wind pants over them. The first mile is cold, but then you warm right up and get comfortable. And for my half...because it was so much farther than I was used to running, I sweat SO much more. OMG, I was drenched at the end of that.

For capris--I highly recommend the C9 by Champion ones that you can get at Target. You should still be able to find them in FL, and we even have some up here on clearance. I find that they are are perfect for in-between weather...not hot but not freezing.

PAULA--good luck at the meeting.

NANCY--omg, I so do not envy you and all of the baking you are about to do. You know that I am on the PTA's and the Church's "Do Not Bake" list, right? I will do lots of other volunteer crap for you, but no, don't ask me to bake. :rotfl2:

STACEY--good luck with open enrollment. It will all be over soon. Ours ends on Friday, so I am assuming that yours must be close to over.

KAT--great job sticking with it. When you are on, you are ON. Amazing.

Ok, time for work.

And just to get us ready for Christmas at Disney....

Amy - bet your buns are enjoying the sun...glad you are safe and sound...

Paula - challenge - knit the other sock so we can se them on your tootsies in Dec! And I cannot sew my way out of a paper bag....so you guys all Martha crafty....:worship:

E - glad you had a great day with your fam and friends...gives ya an awesome perspective doesn't it.

Stacey - you will get through this tough work time...and sometimes beeing busy means not having time to snack so much aimlessly...so it may be a great thing....:thumbsup2

Kat - you were MIA for awhile...and were missed...and I am glad you are back and on track....

Hello to everyone else...and so far for food today

3 pieces of bacon...one glass of water...

Down one pound today...

Is anyone traveling for Thanksgiving? What are your family traditions?

Thanks E... unfortunately, when I am OFF, I am OFF, too!!

Nancy, good luck with the baking. I am not much of a baker, although I am going to make Biergarten Black Forest Cake and a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving.

Stacey, be strong... go walk around Target or Walmart or some store at lunch. It will get you out of the office but no food involved.

Thanksgiving traditions... when I was a kid, we always drove up to Rochester, NY to visit my aunt and uncle. Never a fun trip for me, as my cousins were 15+ years older than me and there wasn't much to do up there. My brother and I used to do snow dances in the hopes that Erie would get snowed in and we wouldn't be able to make it up there!

Now that I live in NC and am married, we usually do Thanksgiving with his family at my house (because I am the only one on his side that can COOK). He has to be at the mall at 5AM on Black Friday, so we really can't travel. I do all the trimmings... turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, scalloped oysters, etc. And most is from scratch, including shredding french bread for the stuffing and peeling potatoes for the mashed potatoes.

Okay, back to work. Have to decide what exercise is going to be tonight... it is a by week for hockey and I might take advantage of my freebie week pass at Gold's and do a Body Combat class. I have no intention of joining but hey, what the heck. Tomorrow I am going to try the lunchtime kickboxing class at fly-by-night.

Just did my favorite 4-mile run. Cold, but beautiful winter day. Off to the Jumbotron--last day on that! After this, we are in exam mode. Phew!

Paula - You're absolutely right all around. I was being silly and insecure Paula. And hormonal. :lmao: ;) Good luck with the meeting - good for you.

Kat - Really it's not that crazy:dance3: . And don't forget I concentrate on workouts for weight loss. So as before - one can lose weight just soley watching their food intensely (some do that - eeeek:lmao: ), doing a balance of both, or really concentrating heavily on the exercise. I'm mostly the latter. So that's how 70 plus pounds have come off - so it's a must for me. Plus, I joked about the mental health of it. But I really need it there.

Kat - your Thanksgiving sounds absolutely scrumptious. Lovely.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Our snow never stuck here at all downtown. But it looks like a snow sky today.

Oh Lyz - yeah on how you're feeling about your weight. :lovestruc

Nancy - so excited for you - hope you have a wonderful time!:lovestruc Drinks all day long. Heavenly.

Amy - got it. This weekend coming up. Yes Lisa there is weather.com with a ten day forecast!:lmao:

Lisa, I totally know what you mean about exercise for mental health. I need the exercise to stay on a good eating track. Somehow it seems to keep me balanced, like one keeps the other up or something, and man does it help me sleep! I have slept like a ROCK the last week or so since I have been getting back into it.

Oh, I forgot one thing... I may wind up traveling this year after all. My mom's best friend is dying of cancer (morphine drip, hospice care deathbed vigil) and since I have Fri off, I may go up to be with her in Pittsburgh over the weekend if the end comes this week. Depends on timing and weather.

Kat - I am so sorry to hear about your mom's best friend. That is so hard.

Amy - I loved Twilight. I am all obsessed and swoony and rereading the books now! Only one of us wasn't swoony, and she liked Carlise. So I told her she could have him as long as I got Edward. ;)

hey all! Hope everyone is having a good monday.

Erika, thanks for the suggestion of capris..I hadn't thought of that. I love the C9 stuff from target.

Liz, I immediately began to reread twilight last night. I think my DH thinks I am looney tunes. I admit to being totally obsessed though. How can you NOT obsess and swoon over Edward?? DH and I are going to see it friday. I had to promise to be the DD so he can go to a bar after AND I had to promise to see star trek when it comes out.

Lyz, WTG on the weight loss!

We are staying here in FL for turkey day this year. Before we had Delena, we traveled almost every year for both holidays. we'd go to NC for one (where DH's family is) and VT for the other. Traveling like that is tiring and stressful after doing it for awhile, so it is nice to stay at home. We are traveling to NC for christmas. I like really traditional foods, and I enjoy even more making stuff with leftovers. I love turkey sandwiches with stuffing and cranberry sauce the next day. Yummy!

Got some not so good news about meeting up with you all at WDW. It's that time of year for work parties and DH has one we kinda need to go to that night. I was hoping it would be a different day. :(   :sad2: So, we'll be at WDW the following weekend when none of you are there. :sad2:

But I am ordering up some awesome December FL weather for you though!! And if there is some sort of natural disaster or something and you need to flee the middle of the state, you can all come here. Party on my lanai!!

DD has been CRANKY today. She's had a fever off and on the past 2 days (from her MMR shot-I hope) and she is already cutting 2 year molars. Ugh. She's on nap #2 today. DD is just not a cranky kid at all. never has been. But when she is fussy and cranky it's bad.

Anyhow, I am doing thanksgiving food shopping tonight and am going to Target. DH will stay home with DD.

Cheers!
Amy

Hey Amy, where will you be in NC? DH works retail and I have a lot of time on my hands around the holidays, maybe if you are anywhere close by, we can get together for a :drinking1 .

I have been in the midst of trying to find a mousse cake recipe. It has been decided against the black forest cake in favor of a mousse cake...

k I am alive and well!:goodvibes
I haven't had two minutes to myself .... well thats a lie! I had three hours of piece and quiet yesterday and I CLEANED??? and sat and watched movies while talking to my brother on the phone with out interuption! That is always nice not to hear MOM MOM MOM !

So I have spent way to much time with my husband because he has me eating and eating all the wrong stuff! you would think he would be supportive of my weight loss but NO he isn't! He loves to eat and loves to see me eat with him. So I will take the bull by the horns next week and be determined not to gain! I have gained 4 pounds and I need to take them plus 63 more off! I will do it!

in other news Samantha bagged her first buck! ( shot and killed her first deer for you non hunters) It is a tiny 3 pointer. Tomorrow I eat lunch with Tyler in school for kindergaten thanksgiving dinner! YEAH my fav!

I will go back and read tonight after I finish work! ( shhhh I am at work now):surfweb:
E~ thanks for checking in with me!

STACEY--good luck with open enrollment. It will all be over soon. Ours ends on Friday, so I am assuming that yours must be close to over.

Unfortunately, I have about 400 different clients to answer to, and they just started (because none of the companies could choose their plans for 2009 until the rates were released, and half of the Rochester carriers released rates today, the other half tomorrow and wednesday) but part of my job is processing all of the enrollment changes/adds/terms, troubleshooting their billing, answering benefits questions and claims advocacy when things go wrong, so i'll be insanely busy getting people IN to the plan up through 1/1/09, and then insanely busy cleaning up after the insurance carriers mistakes until mid march.... so it will be a while...... but the positive, is that it makes the days fly, i'll be in disney before i know it!

Thanks E... unfortunately, when I am OFF, I am OFF, too!!

Nancy, good luck with the baking. I am not much of a baker, although I am going to make Biergarten Black Forest Cake and a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving.

I can vouch for the fact that there is nothing to do in Rochester in the winter.... BORED! In the summer we at least have the lakefront, and wineries and foliage in the fall, but winter sucks!

Just got home from work, and i'm SLEEPY! I went in at 7 am - not horrible, and i was doing pretty ok, until the drive home. It's nasty and snowy and slushy and took forever, by the time i got here, i was exhausted

I have to admit, i was terrible at lunch, my will power was gone, I was one bad chicken. We went to wendy's and i got a junior hamburger, small fries, and a drink :guilty: But i suppose it could be much worse, the calorie total for that is 690, i didn't eat breakfast, and had 1 bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner. So my calorie total is only around 1200 or so. So i'm ok. I'm hoping to jump on the treadmill, but i'm not sure if i'm awake enough, i may actually set my alarm for 4:45 instead of 5:30 and hop on in the A.M.

My lunch is already packed for tomorrow, so i will be better than today, and i have a dentist appt at 7:15, so i know i can't be stuck there too late, so that should help my urge to run away!

I hope everyone had a great day!

:goodvibes
