In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Kat, you don't like the holidays? I can't wait to start getting my halloween decorations out then switching for thanksgiving, then christmas.

Florida is too humid. If you want summer full time, that's not the place.

Couple things.

-I have a patch of sunlight streaming into my office right behind me. It's landed on the floor, onto my chair roller plastic. It's so warm. I put my bare feet on it. Ohhh, so good. Now, all I want to do is turn around and warm up my feet.

-I am craving Kit Kats. It's my "fat me". Loving the fall air and seeing the Halloween displays in the stores. I feel so, um, full. Not full in heavy after eating too much, but full in the sense I love this time of year and everything that goes with it.

And kit kats seem to round out the bill. This is not normal. I'm not a kit kat girl, ever. It's the whole, trick or treating. When the good chocolate is gone and you settle for a kit kat. And you take a bite and think, "hmmm, I forgot kit kats were good." So then you have 5 more.

Or is this just me?
MMM yes I know that feeling

OH!!! Butterfinger crisps. Killing me.

I hate fall. It means winter is coming. I despise winter. Winter means, not just gloom and cold, but also hide fat behind big sweaters and bulky clothing. And it means holidays are getting closer.

I need to move to FL where it is summer all the time. :)
WOW I just said this to my mechanic that I could use 85 degree weather all the time!

Just finished my last training run before the half. Which is 48 hours away, by the way. 3 miles in 30 minutes, so that makes me feel pretty good. It felt easy peasy, too.

So I am getting my iPod set up for the race and I got contemplative these past few days because this race is pretty emotional for me. (For a variety of reasons. I am running for the National Kidney Foundation and I raised money for the cause. Because I am in such a different place than I was 7 months ago when I started this, etc.) Anyway, I decided that I would set up my iPod so that every mile (11 minutes-ish) would be dedicated to someone or some part of my life. And the songs during that time would be reflective of that.

We frequently ask around here - "How do you eat an elephant?" With the stock answer of "one bite at a time". I love that you've done this and doled out miles to people! Applies to weight loss, too, I guess. I also gotta say that the post from the other day about running and sucking it up to finish for all the people that can't hit me right at home. It's gotten me on the mini-tramp the last few days even if the bike's been unavailable.

:
I am now down 6 lbs from my post-WDW high. I still have a ways to go before I can get back to where I was in late June, but I feel like I am getting to be on track.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

:thumbsup2 Good job getting back on track. New job, vacay over, time to settle into a routine.

I am so in the mood for fall now! And I won't get it! That's bad about living here. What the life-long residents call seasons, I call a cold front. Seriously, winter is 75, summer is 85. That's not a season! Funniest is when it gets to 65. I'm like, "should I wear long sleeves? Nah, it'll warm up by lunch." They're coming in with coats on. A real cold snap, like 60, they pull out coats and hats and gloves! I'm like, "heck, where's my windbreaker? Can't find it? Go without!" My first winter here there was a real cold snap - freezing - they were explaining on the radio what windchill was and how it was that it could feel colder than it really was! :lmao:

Would you like to know how geeky I am? I took a post-it note, wrote 'weight lost 10% starting weight 6/27-9/18' and stuck it on the inside of my food drawer. Yes, the 10% is the hugest thing on the post-it. So when I open it up, thinking what I'm going to have for lunch, there it will be, reminding me of that I've gotten done so far and what I have yet to accomplish. I swear, I opened that drawer 3 times this morning just to see it!

And I need parenting advise on a 6yo girl. Kaitlyn's a sensitive sort, always prone to bursting into tears when she feels slighted, upset, wronged, not fair, angry, you name it. I've struggled with how to get her to toughen up. And right now she's getting off the bus everyday just about in tears. Seems to have started when she had the back luck to sit in the back of the bus for a few days, but now she's 2 rows behind the driver, in an assigned seat (typical) and still crying. Now, I don't know if it's because she can't sit next to her newly-found BFF (which is of course an unacceptable reason to cry) or if someone's still teasing her ('the crybaby') or if it's something - anything - else. We can't get a straight answer out of her. Today I bribed her - either (1) get off the bus not crying or (2) tell the busdriver if someone's giving you a hard time and she can stay up as late as she wants reading tonight. Not something I can offer on a weeknight, but it's something she'll love to get.

(total segue - earlier this week she told daddy they were late because someone brought 17 cockroaches to school and they got loose at the end of the day and the teacher had to catch all of them and put them back in the jar before they could let anyone go to the buses. I'm a teacher and 17 rodents get loose in my classroom, 23 kids and me are stomping on them and calling maintenance to clean up the carcasses.)

And I'm miffed - the live webcast of the A380 delivery didn't happen.

Deb

I already bought halloween decor just waiting to put it out!

P.S. I hate my job... my boss made me cry today... He just doesn't listen to anything anyone says... I am so frustrated... :sad2: :headache:

Afternoon all - hope E sent out the message to everyone...
:headache:

Happy B-day Liz and ABU!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :dance3:

Is it December yet? :)

Hey y'all. How's yer afternoon going?

I'm about fixin to leave to go get in line to pick DS up at school. My parents came over for my birthday and brought me a bunch of gifts including a box full of vintage microwave cookbooks (since I collect cookbooks) and a gift from my sister of a vintage hardback book called "The Left Hander's World" (because we're both left handed, as is my halfbrother, my real dad, as was my dad's mom).

We went out to eat at my favorite local Mexican joint and DAMN if my stepdad didn't get busted for making an illegal U-turn.:rotfl: Oops. Fortunately, the cop was nice and just gave him a warning. I would've felt TOTALLY responsible had he gotten a ticket since I live here and I should've known better than to let him make a U turn where he did. Right in front of the 'No U Turn" sign no less!:lmao:

We are having the most fabulous weather these days. Nothing...and I mean nothing...beats Maine in the fall. Crisp air yet warm sun at the same time. No humidity. Just perfect.

As for the Kit Kats...no, that does not happen to me. I am usually pretty good about staying away from the Halloween candy. I can tell you the number of fat grams in one if that would help. I just look at it and say, "nope. totally not worth it."

Kat, you don't like the holidays? I can't wait to start getting my halloween decorations out then switching for thanksgiving, then christmas.

Come visit me sometime between May and October. Humidity is not exclusive to FL. :)

I have naturally wavy/frizzy/curly hair. 95% of the time, it is up, because attempting to do something with it here, not worth it. On the plus side, up north I had extremely dry skin, to the point of painful in the winter. Here, of course skin is still dry, but it doesn't crack and bleed anymore.

And yes, I hate holidays. Stress, pressure, family.

hi all -
i am heading to the clinic...bleeding again and my hair is falling out in heaps...they want to run some tests and see me...I am frusterated because it is Parents night for Varsity football and I hope to be out and before 6:00 -so I can make it...

Ugh

You know I'm gonna ask. Cause I'm always do. What song is for us?

Don't let me get me?
Bootylicious?
Don't stop believen?
Eye of the Tiger?
FLAT Bottom Girls?
Family Affair?
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?
My Humps?
Stronger?

I was thinkin' more along the lines of SUPER FREAK or BRICK HOUSE! :rotfl2:

And it's FLAT bottomed girls. Fat doesn't make any sense. Unless your a strung out musician.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I put too much dressing on my salad. It is all gooey. Yuck.

Today I get the award for being that "certain kind of special" :rolleyes1 I made this fabulous salad to take for lunch today (always brown-bag it, because the food I make, while yummy and healthy, is...well...not good for a calorie reduction plan! :rolleyes1 )....and well...I FORGOT TO EAT IT! :confused3 WTH? I never "forget" to eat. I'm a food-a-holic for cryin' out loud! Needless to say, I ate something not-so-appropriate for a snack then waaay to much supper.. :sad2:

-I am craving Kit Kats.

Two things here;

1) - "Kit-Kat" was my DD's first word! Kid you not. She was about 10 1/2 - 11 months old. Not "momma", not "dadda"..."kit-kat". It generically referred to chocolate :rolleyes1

2) I saw a piece on the Today show this a.m. about how the Hershey Co. has taken the cocoa butter out of many of their chocolate products and replaced it with veg. oil. (or veg. shortening?? :confused3 ) either way - makes it taste different. Cheaper - and tastes that way. Guess it's gonna be a while before I buy any of their chocolate...if I'm going to eat the calories I at least want the QUALITY stuff! :lovestruc

Not geeky at all....I think that's a GREAT idea!

Wait - I'm missing something here....something of Erika's that I wanted to comment on....hmmm...going back to find it now...

I know that this is a mental game at this distance, so I am trying really hard to get my head in the game (a nod to HSM....hmmm...maybe I put that on my iPod too! :lmao: ). My coach just e-mailed me a bunch of motivational reading, so I will go through that in these next couple of days.

At this point it is indeed 100% mental. You've done the training - your body is conditioned and ready to rock'n roll on Sunday. :yay: It's all in your head, baby! :thumbsup2 Just remember - it's just 13.1 miles - then you are done...and you will feel amazing!

oh my, birthdays birthdays everywhere!

Happy bday Liz & Abu :cool1:

E- you'll be in my thoughts on Sunday, you can do this, no sweat (ok, maybe a little sweat, or no, glisten right? Yea glisten, we don't get all funkified and drippy, we glow!) - Also, i'm SO so SO glad to hear your lil pumpkin is doing better!!!

SO bruce is working til midnight, so i just ate cereal for dinner, and i'm standing in my kitchen doing dishes, and in a matter of 15 minutes, one of my neighbors gets chinese delivery and 2 get pizza deliveries.... Killing me i tell ya.

Pupster is being a terror (ok, more like mildy annoying, but apparently this week i have a flair for the dramatic) she keeps jumping up and putting her paws on my mouse hand, so i can't move it so i will play with her

So i need to start scheduling better and just telling my work to kiss off at times, i'm back up to only 8 lbs below my starting weight (aka gained 10 lbs since the wedding :sad1: ) Yes work is important, but i need to be able to sleep, excercise, and see my husband every now and again too ya know? Irritating..

Well pup is giving me the pouty face... time to go play fetch apparently :)

Thanks, Nancy! I am spending today hydrating and thinking positive thoughts (and picking up my race packet, of course!)

Good Morning all
I have spent some of this morning looking over pictures of my uncles trip. He and his wife are sailing around the world. Right now they are heading for TONGA. The pictures are beautiful. They left last year in July I think. Her 15 year old son was also sailing with them but not much for a teenager to do with just adults around. They where home schooling of course but Nolan has decided that this trip wasn't for him and between them all they thought it best that Nolan go to boarding school. I was just reading their blog update that he is settled in The Midland school in CA. E~ know anything about it??? To Me it looks like a commune, but that is just me. Teachers and their families live there on campus and the kids have chores and can join in different activities that provide for the school like chopping wood and fire department etc. http://www.midland-school.org/.
If you would like to check out my uncles Pictures here is the link to that http://www.sailblogs.com/member/svhannah/index.php?show=gallery&g2_itemId=86372. Not often that you can see pictures of different countries from the NON TOURIST point of view. lol.
Well I am off to make two cold ranch veggie pizza's really no veggies it's more like a cold ranch PEPPER pizza! I have three peppers yellow red and orange and broccoli to put on it!
Have a great day!
Steph
