In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Gosh, Lisa! Thanks!

And yes, I have about 10-12 pounds left to go. I am currently a size 6 and would like to be a 4. I know this sounds outrageous to some, but I am pretty tiny, so it is right for my height and frame. (For those who care about BMI...and I know lots of folks don't...my BMI actually says that I am overweight. And I think it is right as I actually have a fat roll! It has to go!)

I haven't been focusing on weight for a while now as I put my focus on training for this race. And when you are running distance, you cannot cut carbs. And you have to eat a lot of protein as well. And while I guess you can still lose weight while doing distance training, it was just more than I was able to focus on at once. So I just ate healthy and made good choices without counting calories or points, etc.

Tomorrow, though, I am back to weight loss mode. Honestly, I am pretty excited about it. 5 weeks till our Disney trip. I have a reasonable goal of 8 pounds in 5 weeks. For some, that would be a no-brainer. But I really don't lose easily. I can be perfect for weeks and weeks...and workout like 2 hours a day...and still not lose. So, I am going to really give it my all and see how it goes.

I understand Erika. You know your body. And everyone is different. I remember Bette Midler saying the same kind of thing. And she's tiny. She told Oprah she was overweight at one point and had gained seven or eight pounds. Oprah went into hysterics but Bette explained a few pounds is a huge deal on her frame and size. We are opposite so I really understand. I can gain those eight that you want to lose and no one would probably notice and I would be in the same size - only tight.

And this is the not nice part -

When I lost 25 pounds on the BL - not one member of my family noticed. :rotfl: Not one. I'm not sure they noticed the previous 40 plus over the years earlier - don't know the exact number because I didn't get on a scale all those years of losing.

I weigh about 224. And honestly if I stopped right now - I look fine. No one would guess that weight. I have no idea what my goal might be - I'll know when I get there but I think it's between 180-195. I'm sighing - university when I thought I was so huge just because of my bones. That I just didn't look like "that girl" so to speak. Now I know at 41 that I will never be "that girl" - God didn't make my bones like that. And I am "this girl" and that's a-okay!!!:thumbsup2

So when those numbers are a goal well the scale isn't really so exciting.

Boy, I'm a ramblin'. Your pictures just brought out so much. :lovestruc

Regardless you really look fantastic. I am so incredibly impressed. I'm praying that some money comes my way so I can see you in person.

Lisa

AND...the Disney 1/2 is about as FLAT as races can possibly be! The closest thing to a "hill" is a highway on-ramp....and those are few-and-far-between! :thumbsup2

Take that back! We have a hill by us. Yes, "A" hill. ;) It's the old dump! :lmao: :lmao: Want to ride your bike up a hill? Go to the dump. Want to run sprints up a hill? Go to the dump. Well, technically, it's "Vista View Park". Since it's the highest land in the county it does provide nice views. For the record, it appears that the superfund money was put to good use!

Deb

ha, it made perfect sense to me.

You, lisaviolet, read like September Girl. I was reading your post about pictures to EriKa and I actually had to go and look to make sure it was you and not Liz.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Some days I could really go for "flat"! Here in New England we have "rolling hills". Or just bad-a$$ hills!

Kids take the most interesting pics! Getting your chip off is an event! Kaitlyn got a '100% real digital camera' for her birthday (yup, a Kodak easyshare) and takes the most interesting pics. When she's not taking unflattering pictures of me, that is.

This is what Cammie has as well. It is 6.1 megapixel, but no bells and whistles, which is fine for her.

Tomorrow...I'm starting...Couch to 5K...in a pair of running shoes older than Kaitlyn! (And this weekend I'm going to get new ones!) I'm sick of squeezing bike rides in betseen 'can see' and 'can't see'. I refuse to be intimidated. And I've got a goal - a 5K at the local outlet mall in December. Anyone else getting ready to start?

Deb

Deb! I am so excited for you! I started with Couch to 5k and look what I just did yesterday! You CAN do this! And yes, get those good sneakers and get properly fitted. Do I say this enough on this thread??? :lmao:

Oh, and I forgot to say, your girls are precious!! Blondies.

Thanks. Obviously, the blond is not from me. None of them look anything like me. I was storage only. Clearly.

This is exactly right. Seriously, 5 pounds on my frame makes a big difference. So even though it is only 10-ish pounds, it looks and feels like more. And I feel big with these 10 pounds on, so off they must come! One of my best friends is 6 feet even. And big boned. So yeah, she can gain like 15-20 pounds and no one would ever know. But as you say, the reverse is true as well.

Yes, I love to read. I once ran a book club on the DIS - sad days - we went so well until poof we exploded. So sad. It all happened around Atonement. The DISer who picked it didn't even come back to discuss his own pick! :lmao: I worried about the little sh!t until I saw him mindlessly gabbing on another thread.

I mean my goodness what the heck do I have to do with my free time? No sex. No children. What's a girl to do?

Thanks for reminding me. I've been putting other things as priorities these days. Lately. It's incredible how I can simply forget to do things that I love.

Well, I'm not sure. Is this a compliment? :lmao: Uh oh. I just inadvertently dissed Ms. Liz. :lmao: :rotfl:

Anyway as I was reading your posts Lyz I was thinking outloud. Are you a flirt? You're married, right? Did you nab him with your wit? I'm thinking yes flirtatious one. :dance3: ;)

That and she's freakin' adorable!

Yes, Yoda. I will get new shoes. This weekend. At Runner's Depot, not at WalMart.

Thanks. Obviously, the blond is not from me. None of them look anything like. I was storage only. Clearly.

Hysterical! :rotfl: Though Kaitlyn looks more and more like me every day, so who knows? Michael? Or the mailman? The current household tragedy is that her blue eyes (which we always thought were Daddy's eyes) are turning hazel/green (like my sister's eyes). She's devastated that she no longer has blue eyes.

As long as you don't look like super-aneroxic Kiera Knightly, it's all good. Size 4 is healthy. It's just that most people are either tabloid-thin or chunky, you know?

That's it, I'm done. Off to clean.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I actually spit out my tea on this one.... I can so relate to you on this... I am not a big reader, but I am big volunteer - er...

We all forget to stop and do the things we love.... This bunch is good about reminding each other that from time to time we need to stop and take care of ourselves and do the things we love...

Hi everyone...

What a weekend I had... I spent the weekend at a day program for students on Saturday and a board meeting on Sunday for the Odyssey of the Mind program. The program went well, but the meeting was very stressful. On top of everything else, it is my TOM so I have been a little cranky lately. I guess that would explain why I have been craving sweets the last few days. I weighed in tonight and gained .2 pounds. Not my greatest effort, but it could have been a lot worse. I have been on plan all day today and made it to my swim class tonight and put in an awesome workout. My goal for tomorrow is to do the same. It may be baby steps right now, but baby steps can grow into large strides and that is what I am looking for.

I am off to bed, have fun on AIM... I will get there to join you one of these nights... Just not on a swimming night... the pool wipes me out....

Have a great night and I'll catch you all on the flip side...
Paula

Yes, I love to read.

Haha. This isn't what I meant at all. And yes, Liz loves to read. I think alot of us do.

I actually meant, you sound like Liz. Your talking/writing style reminds me of Liz. I said "read" cause obviously, I can't hear you, I read you.

Anyway as I was reading your posts Lyz I was thinking outloud. Are you a flirt? You're married, right? Did you nab him with your wit? I'm thinking yes flirtatious one. :dance3: ;)

Lol. What made you think I am a flirt?

I don't think I'm flirtatious at all. I am painfully honest (master of the obvious), naturally curious and always intent on having a good time and others around me to have a good time too. My smile and attempts at making others feel at ease, may come across as flirting, but I don't think I do, ever. I'll have to ask the hub.

I am married. 13 years, October 18. (and yes, I'm 31, you do the math.) I don't know how I nabbed him. He liked me for a long time. And we were friends. Then, I realized I liked him too. And we quickly decided we couldn't live apart. 13 years later, and more mature, I realize I could live apart, but not going to, we are well matched. Both very intense and a little loco.

And Violet Incredible.

Get it right, Girl! :lmao: Mrs. Incredible. We are The Incredibles as a fam.
Cause it works...mostly.

Jeff is totally buff so he gets to be Mr.
And Mrs. is still super cool, but her a$$ got too big for her suit. Perfect, right?
And Riley is light blond and super fast, so he gets to be Dash.
Cammie is Violet cause she is so quiet that she seems invisible sometimes.
And Kel is our baby, so she is Baby Jack Jack.

Geez, get with the program already... :lmao:

Darnit. I wish I'd have gone with the Mrs. I can't believe you didn't post in the first person. That's what I was waiting for, Mrs.
