In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Good Morning!
Just a quick fly through... Spent the entire weekend with DH... ate terribly but it was nice hanging out with him... I will post more on my lunch break...

Sarah

Ok, I finally feel up to a proper post.

Erika - Words fail to express how happy I am for you. Not only did you achieve your goal of finishing the half marathon, you came out stronger as a result of it. Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You are an amazing person.

Paula

Thank you so much, Paula! All of you were with me on that race!

Here's to the drinking, Erika! Have one of your famous no-hangover nights! You deserve it!!!

Nope. No hang-over. Truth be told, I did not drink or eat that much. I was just worn out and didn't have it in me.

omg. I couldn't wait to get home and read this! It's so awesome. I can't believe all the details you remember.

Ohh super secret bathroom. Did you have to go to the bathroom during the race?

No, I didn't thankfully. But there are port-a-potties along the race route just in case. :rotfl2:

Are you listening to your ipod or talking to Joanne?

A little of both. I ended up not doing the mile by mile thing...I had the podcast on for the first hour, though. :goodvibes

I can't believe you called Liz. :rotfl: You are too much.

Ya, that is pretty much what other people were saying...:lmao:

Are you on the "I want to do this again" high?

NO! Not at all. At least not yet. I will write more about this later.

Was it what you expected?

Yes and no. The race was a race...well organized, well marked, a start line, a finish line, etc. I kinda thought there would be more camaraderie since the race was all women and all. I tried talking to a bunch of racers at different points along the way and didn't really get anywhere. :confused3 I was trying to crack jokes or start up conversations and the like, but it was a no go.

What did the girls and your mom think?

They were there and super proud. They got some pics...just waiting for my mom to send them to me.

I thought of you all day. I was desprate for an iphone.[/COLOR]

Thanks so much! I was thinking about you, too!

10 miles, by the way, is a huge personal record - was 7 miles/35 minutes.

WOO HOO, Deb! Way to go on the 10-miler! Goddess crown, definitely! Now about DH's gaming addiction...hmm....me no likey (said like LYZ...:lmao: ). What can we do about this?

Erika, you are a goddess. Really. I am soooo proud of you.

And your report was hysterical!

I miss chat in the evenings. :(

Hey, I aim to please! :lmao: Thanks, Kat. And I miss chat, too. I think I will be on for the next few nights.

SUPER JOB ERIKA!!

You should be so intensely proud of yourself for finishing the race. You did it!!! Walk, run or crawl is my favorite BondiBand!! What matters is that you finished and that is a win no matter what your time was and no matter if you walked! Glad to hear you hooked up with Joanne. Hope to see you at the Hollis race!

Thank you SO MUCH for all of your support, Lisa! You have been so helpful and patient and I truly appreciate it. And yes, I am taking it as a victory because I finished and that is all that really matters!

For the rest of the story...

I got home with the girls and showered and posted my race report. Jeff was with Riley at his soccer game, so they weren't home yet. When they got there, Jeff had a card and a gift for me as a congratulations present, which was so thoughtful. The gift was a book that he thought I would like. Cause you can never go wrong giving me a book. He also spent all morning in the kitchen making lots of my favorite foods...very sweet. He baked a chocolate cake...and made the frosting from scratch. He was quite proud of himself. And he got a bottle of wine out of our "special occasion" collection.

I really wanted to party and celebrate, but again, I definitely over-extended myself and was basically wiped out. We still had a great family night. We ordered pizza and watched a movie in the family room.

My next race is the Disney Half in January and I am not at all nervous about that one (I know it will totally fun...I mean, you can stop every mile or so and have your picture taken with a character. No THAT is my kind of marathon! :rotfl2: ) But I plan to get more serious about training for that one since I was definitely not fully physically prepared for this one (something I will post about later).

Off to soak some...yes, we have a whirlpool tub, thankfully. Did I mention that I HURT???

Aww. That is so sweet.

Where is everybody today? I don' have anything personal to add. I ate too much this weekend and am super tired.:confused3 Nothing new.

I'm here. Reading as always, not posting as always. :thumbsup2

I am on my 4th day straight with some form of working out. Tonight is hockey.

I might be on AIM tonight but not until after 11PM.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Wounded muscles is right! Ye-ouch! Just thought I would wake up the thread, but Steph beat me here this morning. I'll be back...

Yep. Those muscles certainly will be *aware* of the workout you gave them yesterday! :goodvibes But it's all so worth it, isn't it? :confused3

I am SO proud of you. Those races are hard. So very hard. Physically and mentally. You are a much stronger person in so many ways!

Loved the "trip report". That was awesome. I could *feel* every mile....I know what it's like to walk then regret it...I know how great it feels to pass people. I know the "head games" that you need to play with yourself. And your descriptions made me feel like I had run that race!!!! (just without the achy muscles and black toe nails! )

Time to tell you about what I said during my marathon training. We were training on treadmills in the gym as it was snowing here in New England (that is TOTALLY a suck-fest!). After my 20-miler, I told DH....well...it was still easier than having a BABY!

Marathon Day arrives. We run. I come shuffling across the finish line about ready to DIE (DH has finished about 45 minutes ahead of me :worship: ) and I tell him....NEXT TIME I'D RATHER HAVE THE BABY! :rotfl2:

AND...the Disney 1/2 is about as FLAT as races can possibly be! The closest thing to a "hill" is a highway on-ramp....and those are few-and-far-between! :thumbsup2

Do you ever have those days where you are like, if I can just make it through today without eating those darn Twizzlers, I might make it out of here alive?

Yeah, that's my day today.

Deb, great post about the bike ride. Good for you for putting yourself first.

Nancy, you made me laugh out loud about the marathon versus childbirth! Love it!

How is everyone else's day going?

Yes, but I gave into the Woppers. :sad2: Of which I knew better than to buy.

Agreed with both of these posts. Just too lazy to actually do the work of commenting.

Actually, all day I thought of Deb riding her bike for 10 miles and wishing I was doing the same.

So - take a look at http://www.a380delivery.com/qantas/ if you have a chance. If you look at Episode 14, Cabin Installation, the beige seats and furniture are our stuff. Super First Class, because it's so much more than First Class. This seat does more than my dad's lazy boy! 84" bed...10-way massage...4-way lumbar...dining for 2...17" flatscreen...the seat has 8 independent motors. At 1:15pm EST, the delivery ceremony will take place, and while I may not be there (though my CEO is) I'll certainly be watching it on the internet. Fly away! In celebration of 3 very long years for me (and 40 lbs of weight gained) where work came first and family second (yes, that's changed now), I'm giving away little clip-on koalas today at work. My joke is that you can either cherish it as a memory or crush it under your heel!

Deb

Deb, finally got a chance to look at this. OMG!!! That is one nice aircraft. I mean, I seriously need to be a millionaire! I'm impressed. Exactly which seats were yours. The ones that laid down in a little office alcove?

Liz--give the Twizzlers away. Really. You are a goddess and I know you will resist them.

And Nancy--YES! Joanne and I were both laughing about childbirth during the race. I was like...hell, I was in labor for 18 hours and this race will be less than 3!

Lyz--yeah, slow news day around here. What gives?

Okay - here's some news.

I'm on my BL thread and one of my team buddies starts talking about her half marathon this weekend. And how beautiful it was - weather I believe!!:rotfl: ;) And how she saw a woman with a WISH t shirt and stopped her.

And my head starts to hurt and I think I'm in the twilight zone?? What thread am I on? :confused3

Yes, it was tracyz and it was Erika! Too funny. :rotfl:

OMG, Lisa! That is too funny!

And here are the pics of me and Tracy and Joanne! (Note--these were all taken by Cammie who is just 7 and has a cheap-o digital camera, so they are not the best.)

This is me at the finish...PROOF! :lmao: (and if you look closely, you can see someone behind me with her hands up the in air as she gets ready to cross...and others well behind her...proof that I was not last! )

And here is me getting my chip off. Why she took this, I'll never know!

Loved them Erika.

You look fabulous and so flippin' beautiful.

I must tell Tracy. I'm looking at you guys thinking "what weight do you have/want to lose?". I'm lost. :lmao: ;)

Really Erika - are you at goal as far as size goes?

You look so beautiful. Very inspiring.

That one of you and you two girls is gorgeous. Nice of all three of you.

Loved them - I know I can't shut up. :lmao: ;)

OMG. I just caught that Cammie took most of the pics. Please tell her fantastic job for me.

Gosh, Lisa! Thanks!

And yes, I have about 10-12 pounds left to go. I am currently a size 6 and would like to be a 4. I know this sounds outrageous to some, but I am pretty tiny, so it is right for my height and frame. (For those who care about BMI...and I know lots of folks don't...my BMI actually says that I am overweight. And I think it is right as I actually have a fat roll! It has to go!)

I haven't been focusing on weight for a while now as I put my focus on training for this race. And when you are running distance, you cannot cut carbs. And you have to eat a lot of protein as well. And while I guess you can still lose weight while doing distance training, it was just more than I was able to focus on at once. So I just ate healthy and made good choices without counting calories or points, etc.

Tomorrow, though, I am back to weight loss mode. Honestly, I am pretty excited about it. 5 weeks till our Disney trip. I have a reasonable goal of 8 pounds in 5 weeks. For some, that would be a no-brainer. But I really don't lose easily. I can be perfect for weeks and weeks...and workout like 2 hours a day...and still not lose. So, I am going to really give it my all and see how it goes.

Yes, go look - it's fantastic if you can afford $14,000 for a ticket! The beige seats in the little office alcove are 'mine'.

Love all the pictures! Way to go!

Kids take the most interesting pics! Getting your chip off is an event! Kaitlyn got a '100% real digital camera' for her birthday (yup, a Kodak easyshare) and takes the most interesting pics. When she's not taking unflattering pictures of me, that is.

I'm here. Reading as always, not posting as always. :thumbsup2

4 days in a row - you go! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Tomorrow...I'm starting...Couch to 5K...in a pair of running shoes older than Kaitlyn! (And this weekend I'm going to get new ones!) I'm sick of squeezing bike rides in betseen 'can see' and 'can't see'. I refuse to be intimidated. And I've got a goal - a 5K at the local outlet mall in December. Anyone else getting ready to start?

Deb
