In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Hey Ladies..

Dinner went well, turkey took longer to cook than planned (there is always somethingg), but all in all it was a good meal.

I have to confess I've been into the beer and am a bit buzzed right now. My BFF came over for a mini-bonfire in our lanai fire bowl, and that sort of situation just lends itself to drinking beer. :drinking1 :drinking1 Nothing better than sitting around a fire with a beer and good company and conversation. :goodvibes :goodvibes I did mostly drink Amstel light (which is a big deal for a beer snob like me, not that amstel is bad, just the light factor).I shudder when I think about how much Natural Light and Bud Light I drank in college. I'm not worried about the calories really, I just need to properly hydrate the rest of tonight and tomorrow.

We leave for the East Coast of FL on saturday, hopefully will get to see the shuttle land and then go to packet pick up. Race starts at 6 am on Sunday. I will probably be a huge dork and check in briefly on here when I get back to the hotel after the race and ice bath!!

Hope everyone had a good day!!

Cheers,
Amy

Hi guys. Sounds like everyone had a good day. Nancy, sorry you were so sore!

I can't believe the birthday girl hasn't even checked in!!! EriKa - how was your day?

Kat and Paula, your days of backing sound exhausting.

I am tired. All I did was sit around and eat. Blah. I feel thick.

Amy the run sounded good.

And Liz - you tracked on Thanksgiving, WOW!

Lisa - suppose it was just another work day for you. Well "hi" then.

Going shopping early in the morning.

Night.

Amy - have to say, love the new addition to your signature. Must get myself one, too!

Amy - have to say, love the new addition to your signature. Must get myself one, too!

I figured it was a little boring to only have running stuff in my sig..Plus, I need to show off my beautiful vampire boyfriend!! ;)

Apparently Rolling Stone is doing a article about him. there was a new pic on the blog today from it.

And tracking on Thanksgiving?? :worship: :worship: I didn't eat to a point of feeling stuffed and took really small portions of everything. I just read that the average person will gain 5-10 pounds between now and January!!:scared1: :scared1: I am hoping my 1/2 training will keep me in the above average category. I am already plotting out long runs for when I am in NC for xmas. The IL's lack wireless or DSL, so I am going to SOL for internet for 2 weeks :scared1: :scared1: unless I get to a Panera or somewhere with my laptop. I am really hoping for a crackberry for xmas. The support I receive here on a daily basis is really important for me staying on track.

Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Yeah!

Am I actually waking up the thread -

Wake up my little stuffingheads!!!

Popping on before work to say I"m down 1.4 for BL.

See ya later and enjoy your day.

Lisa

Hi everyone!

WOW--I had THREE PAGES to read this morning! Love it!

Thanksgiving/Birthday was really nice and really emotional both. Long story. I will back up to Weds....

Spent Weds. cooking and prepping. Like Kat, this leaves very little to do on Thanksgiving Day itself. And this helps because I really want to enjoy the day and not be stuck in the kitchen. I took a break from cooking on Weds. to take the kids to the movies. We finally saw HSM3, which we had tried to go to 3 or 4 times before and for one reason or another the plan always fell through. So we went, they loved it, and all was right with the world.

Spent Weds. night with J just getting ready for Thursday...he had house projects to do and I decided that I would put up my Christmas decorations (yes BEFORE Thanksgiving...a first for me). I put up everything BUT the tree and the minimal outside lights that we do). All of the peripheral decorations. I love Christmas and all that goes with it. And everyone was ok with it...no one seemed to think it was odd that my house was done up already.

Before dinner, while we were having appetizers, etc. we did birthday presents for me. OMG, Cammie. I have to post a picture of this. She made me a quilt. My mom helped her, but she really did about 80% of it. There are family photos all over it, using fabric paper transfer stuff. My mom did the photo transfer part and the binding. But Cammie did ALL of the machine stitching and all of the hand stitching and chose all of the fabrics, and tied the backing, etc. She was so super excited to give it to me, she was bursting. It was wonderful.

Dinner went off without a hitch in terms of food. I made 10 dishes total, and we had 4 desserts (none of which I made). Everything turned out well, even the things I attempted for the first time.

People stayed late and it was really lovely.

Now, for catching up...

LYZ--phew! Glad you got caught up. I was starting to worry!

LIZ--love the holiDAY not WEEK comment. Perfect. And we have so many leftovers. I am going to have to come up with a plan for dealing with that.

NANCY--sorry about your back! Not surprising, though, considering the amount of time you spent with a rolling pin. Good choice to take it easy. And you leave on vacation tomorrow!!!

AMY--Great job on the 5k. And now you REST today and tomorrow before your half.

AIMEE/VAL--thanks for checking in! Missed you both!

ALL--thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! It was so wonderful to log on and read all of those Happy Birthdays! :goodvibes

Oh--and today is my long run. 10 miles. Works out well that it happens to be the day after Thanksgiving, though I didn't go crazy yesterday.

I will report back in after I finish the run.

EriKa - did you have family at your house for Thanksgiving or just you 5?

Cammie - the quilt - she's so thoughtful!

We don't have leftovers. We travel, I didn't bring anything home and threw out the Pumpkin Cake (Paula Deen) I made this morning so I wouldn't be tempted. My cupboards are empty again.

On another note. I didn't make a slew of pumpkin rolls this Thanksgiving. It is so much effort to make 5 of the same thing. So I eleminated it. (Thanks Liz). They were missed, but the pumpkin cake was a hit. I made two of them.

We had 11 here yesterday, so not a huge crowd but big enough to feel festive. We usually have anywhere from 20-30 people. But we have more family coming in today.

Here is the quilt....the whole thing and block by block. Feel free to skip if you are not interested. I am just so amazed that she did this. The whole bottom row of the quilt is made up of pictures that my mom took of Cam while she was actually sewing the quilt...I love that part! And yes, that is a copy of our wedding invitation in there. And there are lots of little embellishments throughout the whole thing.

I'm glad to hear so many of us had great thanksgivings, back to the grind today, after I post i'm heading downstairs to the dreadmill, i'm determined to LOSE between now and January and defy statistics!!!

I didn't do too badly yesterday, that's a perk of doing the cooking, you are sick of it by the time dinner rolls around.

I got up at 4:45 yesterday, and jumped in the car and drove the 1.5 hrs to my parents (alone, Bruce had to work all day, that made me a little sad, he will probably have to work on Christmas too, i get sad if i think about it too much, that our "first" holidays after our wedding are spent apart..... :guilty: )

Spent a lot of the day cooking and/or trying to stay awake. It was a pretty difficult holiday... we always have Thanksgiving at my Grandparents (on my fathers side) and this was the first holiday without my grandfather (he passed away 2 days after my wedding, while i was on my honeymoon :sad1: ) My sister and brother in law weren't there (my sister is a nurse and was working), Bruce was working, and my cousin Alex is in jail :sad2: So it was pretty hard...

Dinner was good however, didn't eat too much. Right after dinner (about 5) i hopped back in the car and drove straight home to bring Bruce some leftovers and spend a little time.... Uneventful...

I hope everyone who went out shopping today had some luck, i'm off to try to run off some of that bread dip i ate yesterday before it settles in my @ss :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone....

Erika - your new quilt is just precious.... I am so proud of Cammie for thinking of such a gift. Can I place my order with her for one??? :rotfl2:

Yesterday went well. All of the food came out great (ate a little too much of it - must resist eating more stuffing...). Managed to burn my hand a number of times so spent most of dinner and the night with an ice bag in my left hand so that was kind of funny (and got me out of cleaning up). All is well this morning and I just have the red marked evidence... The family was in good spirits and the day was fun.

Now, it is on to packing and prepping for my trip since I leave on Tuesday... so much to do and so little time to do it in... I am off to see Legally Blonde, the musical with my sister today. The tickets were a birthday gift from my parents to her and she asked me to go. It should be fun, but I am not holding my breath thinking that this will be ground breaking musical theatre...

I didn't make it to the gym this morning (chose to sleep instead). So I need to get there on Saturday and Sunday since I won't be able to get there tonight. We are having all of my extended cousins over to the house for the annual cousin's party. It is a lot of fun just catching up with what everyone is doing with munchies. I am planning healthy munchies (veggies and fruits) as well as some not so healthy munchies, but I'll be good... The holiday is over and I am back on my JC food plan...

Have a great day everyone...
Paula

Nancy - hope your back is feeling better today...

Stacey - I love your attitude... you can do this...

Lyz - So proud of you for throwing out your tempting food... way to put you first...

Liz - take a breath from Twilight... we like it when you post...

Steph - hope your turkeyday was a good one...

Aimee - we missed you... please don't be such a stranger

Val - if you haven't figured it out by now, being in a funk doesn't excuse you from posting here... it really means that you are not posting enough... we are all here to help each other...

Lisa - how are you??? thanks for waking the thread up today...

Amy - glad you had fun at the race... too bad you had to dodge strollers and dogs... so not fun...

Hope I didn't forget anyone... I am not yet fully awake this morning...

Good afternoon ladies!
I hope that everyone had a great day yesterday!
Our (my) day started off at 8 I came down and got the boys feed and called my brother to make sure that he was on his journey here! Which he was I talked to him through Massachusetts and into NH. Then I proceeded to make a pumpkin pie and apple pie and a pumpkin roll! I also made stuffed mushrooms and crackers and cheese and had cream cheese with pepper relish and one with a cranberry pepper relish for appetizers. Then I started with the vegetables and the place settings! Stephen came home from hunting just in time to fry the turkey and as everything was on the table I was asked were is the stuffing?? So everything was put on hold till I made stuffing! SO we ate around 2:30 and as soon as stephen and nate were done eating the left for the woods! We all let our food settle and watched movies and around 730 we ate dessert. THanks god there isn't enough left to pick at and I don't feel like it any how! I did really bad and sampled each dessert with ice cream and all!

This morning I made a carmel bread pudding for breakfast and steph made bacon and eggs! So I had one egg and a scoop of the bread pudding and a few slices of bacon!

Everything went without a hitch... well I was a little crabby because no one helped me but OH well thats life. I did managed to get dressed yesterday about 5 minutes before we ate!

Lyz~ Recipe for the pumpkin cake???? I make a great one from pampered chef. It's called a pumpkin ribbon cake it has the cream cheese in the middle of the cake ! almost just like the pumpkin roll but in cake form!

E~ that quilt is awesome! I bet you are beaming with pride! It's always amazes me on what kids can accomplish when they want to do something!

Well again I hope everyone had a great day yesterday and for all those NUTS who were out shopping at 4 am I hope that you got some great deals!
Nancy have a great trip!
For those of you running .... I hope you do well!

Hi all..glad Thanksgiving sounded great for so many of you...

We had a good time as well...

Doing an ounce of shopping for neccesities but tha is about it today...

E - beautiful memory for your B-day from a beautiful child...

Kat - I agre on the gravy making and so happy you have a better job...

Paula - Tuesday!!! YOu must be psyched1

NANCY - SORRY YOU ARE SORE BUT THE TUMMIES OF THOUSANDS THANKS YOU!

Lyz - lucky no leftovers!

To you Twilight Fans!..I am getting a book for the trip..youtwisted my arm...

Everyone Else - have a great weekend...:grouphug:

Liz - I'm taking your "holi-day" comment very seriously! :thumbsup2 I am right back on track today. of course, TOMORROW...that's a different story! A vacation right after a holiday? Double whammy! :scared1:

Had some fun dodging strollers and dogs (who were not supposed to be in the competitive run but no one was really checking to see what color bib you had on), and almost had 2 face plants into the road due to those reflector things and a speed bump

That is precisely why I chose not to run yesterday. Sore back (which is MUCH better today, after light exercise and much stretching! :thumbsup2 ), insane crowds...mega hill....not worth the risk of injury this year! :scared:

The pumpkin layer cheesecake was a hit, but the chocolate mousse cake was a bit too rich to follow t-giving dinner.

I bet! But how was it with the irish cream? Yumm-o I'm sure. A small smidge probably was enough!

I decided to eat what I wanted. Tomorrow is leftover day, and then Sat back to it. Even if it means a lb or two more on the scale this week, I am NOT giving up t-giving dinner and leftovers, it is about my only happy thing about the holidays.

You work SO HARD all year long. Absolutely take the time for yourself to enjoy your holiday. That's what it's all about, isn't it? :confused3

tracked ALL my food today!

:worship: :worship: You are amazing!!! I ate responsibly...but would really hate to know the actually point/calorie count of what I consumed! :scared:

I have to confess I've been into the beer and am a bit buzzed right now.

uh....'xcuse me? :confused3 I thought that was MY job :rotfl2:

OMG, Cammie. I have to post a picture of this. She made me a quilt.

ERIKA! THAT IS SO AWESOME:yay: :yay: I so love to see kids making fabulous projects like that! SO PROUD OF HER. Smart & Crafty. Look out Martha Stewart! :rotfl:

I got up at 4:45 yesterday, and jumped in the car and drove the 1.5 hrs to my parents

 Holy crap that's early!  for your difficult day...

Now, it is on to packing and prepping for my trip since I leave on Tuesday... so much to do and so little time to do it in...

I hear ya sister! Have a FABULOUS trip!!!! :woohoo:

NANCY - SORRY YOU ARE SORE BUT THE TUMMIES OF THOUSANDS THANKS YOU!

 Yes they do. Either that or curse me 'cause they ate too much

K...back to packing, etc. Got to get a quick trip to the grocery store in this afternoon...make sure those kiddos have all the stuff they need!!!

11 MILES!

And no walking.

Take THAT, Thanksgiving dinner! :rotfl2: :lmao:

I had a 10-miler planned, and AMY--that extra mile was for you. You will be pushing yourself on Sunday in your first half, so I thought I should share your pain! I know you will do great!

Hi Everyone:
Just wanted to apologize for my abrupt departure, after just signing on in the first place. I tend to clam up when the going gets tough ...I just figured I'd save you all from my crabbiness.

Val

Oh Val. I used to do that. Disappear when I was down. Don't do that. Now I just purge my entire life for all to see. :rotfl: . From A to Z I've gone. ;) Stay here - we all have it and know it.

That is SO true. DH's grandfather had alzheimer's....lived with my in-laws for a while - it was SO HARD on my MIL especially. Like having a 250 lb toddler in your house somedays. Anytime you need to vent, I'm happy to listen.
Thanks Nancy. Time will tell what it is for her. But I will vent. It is sad.

We are going to my parents house...with my whole family plus some other "random people" (as my mother referred to them! :confused3 )

:lmao: Random people. Gosh, your mother is as funny as you.

Nancy, I will let you know how it turns out. Instead of using 1/2 cup of cream in the melted portion, I used 1/4 cup cream and 1/4 cup irish cream. I also added another dash when I was folding the chocolate into the whipped cream.

I think that I am going to frost it with more whipped cream with sugar and another dash of irish cream folded in. I am considering adding some cherries from cherry pie filling to the top as a garnish, wish I had fresh raspberries...

Also made three kinds of stuffing, peeled and cut up potatoes for the mashed potatoes, crushed the crackers for the oysters... so all I should have to do tomorrow is get up at about 8 to stuff and stick the turkey in the oven, then do that last 30-45 min of prep that is inevitable no matter what... boiling/mashing the potatoes, frying up the giblets for the gravy, etc. And yes, gravy = drippings + flour + giblets in my household. :)

Ummm, will you marry me? :lovestruc :lmao: ;)

Lisa - oh your vacation. So sad. Very sad.

Well get this. I'm in the shower - I have no idea why I'm telling you I was in the shower:lmao:...but you know how those a ha moments come there - anyway I go "no friggin' way am I renting this for a regular amount of money". (in DVC land this is a prized booking - can't even get the DVC BW view from the CRO - forget NYE - it took daily 8:59 AM heart jumps to get it). So I say decent money or nothing. I'm far from greedy in my own life. Far from it but this felt different for me. So if someone wants it - they'll have to pay. And someone has the money. And if demand doesn't meet the price. Then oh well.

Someone is renting a one bedroom BW view NYE one bedroom for regular rates. Crazy I say. Generous yes. But crazy. I won't "give it away". I was so blunt on my posting I'm wondering if it will even get past the mods. I had a first rental last year. I bent over backwards for trust issues and they had problems themselves. So funny. Someone told me to be careful and said her mother used to say "when people can't trust - be careful - maybe they're talking about themselves." It was so true. It was a nightmare rental and I'm not going through it again.

So possibly no one will want to put up the dough. But it's enough of a disappointment not to go. I won't be doubly disappointed.

Vent that was.....and a change in me. The old me would never ask a big price for a prized reservation. I would feel bad or something when it just is what it is.

I just bolded a :lovestruc icon. Hmmm....

Well :lovestruc to all. :lmao:

Lyz, Glad to see you back. Running was definitely NOT in my blood!! :lmao: :lmao: I used to hate it with a passion and still hate it sometimes, but most of the time I love it. If someone had told me a year ago I would be running an early morning 5K on Thanksgiving and a 1/2 marathon 3 days later, this would have been my reaction::rotfl: :lmao:

Amy

This is such a great paragraph. I just wanted it posted again. That's lovely Amy. Very inspiring.

Nancy, so sorry to hear about the back spasms. That SUCKS.

I forgot to say this earlier Nancy. So sorry.

Liz - did I miss your book choice?

Here is the quilt....the whole thing and block by block.

This made my day, month and year. Not joking. That's really really beautiful Erika. You should be so proud of the children that you are raising. Boy, that says a lot.

Yeah WDW is almost here!!!!

And as for the burns I went ouch :scared1: poor Paula. And then when I read on about the clean up I went  . Hope it's all better.

Well again I hope everyone had a great day yesterday and for all those NUTS who were out shopping at 4 am I hope that you got some great deals!
Nancy have a great trip!
For those of you running .... I hope you do well!

Loved hearing about your day Steph.

And Nancy in case I forget - ditto to what Steph said.

We had a good time as well...

Good to hear Dawn. A moment to breathe for you, eh? Nice.

Amiee - come back Ms. Amiee!!!:lovestruc

Someone posted about how much weight most people gain over this period. Amy? I think so. Five or ten pounds. Congrats to us for being here. Because I don't doubt it.

I posted my loss on my BL thread and we are dropping like flies over there. :sad2: There are only three of us so far today on my team. It's really too bad. And it's not just an actual Thanksgiving holiday thing. It's been happening every week. More and more disappearing.

This is life. For life. So every kind of day - eating/overeating/not overeating/holiday/birthday/exercising/not exercising day is part of the successful outcome. Too many of us, meaning people in general terms, are too all or nothing with goals. Whether that be weight or something else. It's really too bad. It's too bad. I want to  them all back on my team and the others. But everyone has their path. Boy did I...

Just thinking outloud......

It IS a prized booking! I agree that you should ask for it all baby! Good for you.

Paula - you burnt your hand, ohh, that smarts.

EriKa - the quilt! Dolphins and all! What a wonderful, treasured gift!

So last night I mentioned I was going to go shopping early. I read all the ads. Made a list and prioritized it. I didn't really want much Christmas stuff, more like "deeply discounted" purchases. This morning, my alarm went off at 4. Snooze. 4:10. Snooze. 4:30. Screw it. I don't care. Off.

I woke up for good at 8 am. I showered and headed out.

I didn't get my morning buys at Walmart. And the nasty sales woman, I could have clocked her. Everything on sale was not where it normally is. Like I wanted a Eureka wand vac, $9. (I have issues with my rugs in the kitchen. They are dark and you can see every crumb and I don't want to haul out the vacuum for that.) Any way, I asked about them and she got all attitude on me, "Oh those sold out in 15 minutes." Well, apparently I'm an idiot and thanks for pointing it out.

Anywhoo, I shopped. I like shopping. I love spending money. Christmas is a good reason to do that. I should be a shopper for a living. I'm really getting off track here.

Any way, then I came home and took a big ole nap. It's a banner day if I do say so myself.

Nancy - going on vacation. How exciting. And hard too. It's hard enough to leave town, but then to go without the kids, oh the planning. I know you are probably crazy right now.
