What are the age requirements and rates for in-room child care:confused: My DS's would LOVE the Neverland Club, but DD will only be 3 yrs 7 months, and although she it completely potty trained, I have heard that will not make any exceptions on the 4 year old limit.

So, if anyone has used the in-room service, I would very much appreciate yiu sharing your experiences.::yes::

Are you sure your DD isn't going to turn four before your trip ;) ;)
I am going to the Contemporary in August, and I have the same dilemma....a very mature 3 year old (looks and acts like she's 5 and totally potty trained), but she won't be 4 when we go. I think I am just going to say she is 4 and deal with my guilty conscience..... At least I'm not saying she's 2 to get her into the parks free, right? Also, my older DD will be with her, so they will have a blast together in the Mouseketeers Club. Just a little more justification to ease my guilt.....LOL

If you do use the in room childcare, let me know how you like it, in case I chicken out on my evil scheme....LOL Have fun on your trip!

We used the in-room childcare at WL a couple years and LOVED it. My kids were 2 and 4 at the time, so they was no way they could go the "kids club" childcare at WL.

At first I was very, very nervous about leaving my kids with a "stranger" but I rationalized that Disney must do EXTENSIVE background checks on these people because they could never stop the bad publicity if they had a Disney babysitter kidnap or hurt a small child. Plus, I figured my 4 year old was old enough to tell me if anything went wrong and I explained to him that the Babysitter was only allowed to take him to the Petting Zoo and he would not be getting in a car or going anywhere else.

The babysitter they sent was very mature, very experienced and seemed very nice. After we met her, we were extremely comfortable with her.

We went over a little checklist she brought with her...a lot of questions about what the kids could and couldn't do, fodd/drink, sleeping habits, etc.

I didn't want her taking the kids to the parks (we were only gone for about 3 hours) but I did give permission for her to walk the kids over to the Petting Zoo at Fort Wilderness. They had a great time.

If I had kids under 4, I would definietly use the service again!

Are the in-room sitters actually Disney employees? What do they charge and how can I get a hold of one? We may use one if my husband and I decide to do the Segway tour. Thanks!

MeredithJ, that thought had crossed my mind, however, with my luck we'd just get ready to leave and DD would blurt out....I'm 3

Ah yes, the honesty of dear children. How could I forget. :D At least it sounds like the in-room childcare is good, although I am sure it is pricey at the resorts. Hopefully someone can find the price...I went to Disney's site and couldn't find it. I know I have seen it before somewhere, so I guess I will keep looking.

So where are you from in Indiana? I am from Fort Wayne.

I knew I would find it if I looked a little more.....this is from the DIS site under "just for kids". It also gives a good overview of the kids programs offered at the resorts.

Rates are based upon the number of children…

1 child - $14.00 per hour
2 children - $16.00 per hour
3 children - $19.00 per hour
4 children - 21.50 per hour
For groups or more than 4 children, please call Kid’s Nite for these rates
After 9:00 p.m., there will be an additional $2.00 an hour charge.
One-time transportation fee of $8 will be added to total bill.
All rates are hourly based, with a 4-hour minimum, and a one-time transportation fee. Cancellations require 4 hours notice to avoid the 4-hour charge. Advance reservations are required. Prices are subject to change without notice.
For childcare on Holidays and Special Events, rates are subject to change.

I don't think the sitter was actually an employee of Disney...I think she was technically employed by Kindercare (or whatever childcare provider Disney had on-site for their employees.)

Two years ago, we paid about $15 an hour for 2 kids. Expensive, but we thought it was worth it to have one "adult" night out.

Funny that you're in Indiana....I grew up in Fort Wayne.

Thanks for the info Meredith. It's pretty steep, but I just talked to DW and I think we're going to do it. Today is our anniversary so we wanted one "alone" night at WDW to celebrate. When we get back I'll be sure to post on how it went.

BTW, we're in Lafayette, but DW is originally from Muncie which is just down I-69 from Ft. Wayne.

7 more days until the magic begins

My youngest is three. Old enough to pay to get into WDW, but too young for the kids club:p We are going to be celebrating our 10th anniversary this summer at WDW. My kids hardly ever have a babysitter, so I didn't think it would work out with the in room service. They have gone to Camp Hyatt before and did fine. I think it's better for them if they are in a group setting.
We are staying at the GF so I signed all three of them up for the Wonderland Tea Party. I know I'm guaranteed one hour alone with dh on our anniversary:lovestruc
