In need of someone with A LOT of knowledge about Disney

Ok, you may or may not see previous post of mine but I can't get a straight answer from anyone on this issue I am having...

I worked for The Disney College Program in Fall 2008; everything went well, didn't get term, no self terming, no reprimands... I finished successfully... I was then offered to come back for the Summer Alumni program in 2009 but turned it down because of school... still everything was fine... then disaster struck... In May of 2009 I got hired at the Disney Store... It was okay, however I only worked there 6 months and unfortunately I didn't have the best last 2 months...

I missed a couple of their "call ins," and then started receiving 0 hours for scheduling... after Christmas they let a lot of people go and I had 0 hours so I made the wrong decision and let my self go..."self termed."

There was of def a lack of communication between the management and I, and we didn't get along so well.

However, I take responsibility for the fact that I should have just gave a 2 week notice then leave instead of just assuming they were about to let me go. - Again lack of communication.

I am aware Disney Store is under the same company as the whole Walt Disney Company...

So tomorrow at 11:30am I have an interview for my 2nd College Program... I am prepared to be informed of a "no rehire" status... I am also aware I will have to probably fill out re hire paperwork...

I have heard of people going through the same thing, but not because of The Disney Store, but because of previous experiences in Disney World/Land.

How will Disney Store differ from people that had troubles at the Resorts?

Will I still have a chance of being rehired for the Spring 2011 College Program?

Please only reply if you have a pretty good answer, because I am getting confused with people's different opinions! I want nothing more than to go back to Disney for another CP... Disney World means EVERYTHING to me and I hope to not be penalized too badly because of 6 months of a bad job at The Disney Store.

Also, when informed about the "no rehire" status during the interview what happens? Do I get to proceed with the Disney CP interview?

Do you know for a fact that you're at No Hire status? Like did you call the casting services and ask? I would make 100% sure that you're at no hire. I'm not sure about what is going to happen or if you will get to proceed. But I do know that just because you self term doesn't mean you get put on a no hire status. You can get restricted as well.

Have you contacted the disney CP reps about this at all? It never hurts to call, but I guess since your interview is tomorrow there really isn't ample time to do so. Another person I talked to was worried about getting accepted because they were fired from a disney store but they still got in. I think the disney store status' are a separate thing from the WDW stuff. I doubt you'll be on restricted re-hire. BUT if they say you are, then you have to fill out some paperwork which will allow you to explain why you got the rehire status from your point of view and send it back to them which will then go to a committee for review who will determine if you get accepted or not. The good news with that, though, is that I've seen a lot of restricted re-hires get accepted already for this program so it's definitely not a lost cause.

good luck with your interview!

Yes, they are part of the same company, but they are under different segments. The Walt Disney Company has several segments, DS falls under Consumer Products and the CP falls under Parks and Resorts. Even though they are part of the same greater organization, most segments work independantly of each other. A no rehire status from a different segment does not hold the same restrictions as a no rehire within the same segment. I would say that you have a pretty good chance, especially with your previous track record with the Parks and Resorts.

So generally, if you actually SELF terminate, even without a 2 weeks notice, you will be a Restricted Rehire. That is what I did and was after Fall of 2009 at my CP. I left the day after I told my managers, on December 17, when I was supposed to have a January 2 departure date. It was a serious family circumstance where I had to make a difficult decision on what was more important.

Most often, the No Rehires are designated for those that Disney personally "lets go," like a friend of mine who was caught with alcohol under age.

I don't know if the Disney Store does these differently. Like everyone has said, your best chance is to call your manager and ask about your status.

They will tell you during your phone interview as well. They told me ((but I already knew)), so I explained that I left early, they asked why, and I gave a brief description. They then explained that they would be emailing me the Rehire paperwork to fill out and send back after the interview. I got it in my email, filled it out ((and attached an extra sheet of explanation)), scanned it, and emailed it back.

I found out exactly 6 weeks after emailing back my paperwork that I'd been accepted.

In between this, however, I talked to one of my old managers who said he and 2 other managers had been emailed about my request to lift my rehire status. The 3 of them together had to collectively decide if I should have it lifted or not, but only 1 of them ((my CP liaison)) made the final decision.

Rehire Status lifts are made on a case by case basis. They will look over everything you tell them. They also REALLY like to see that you have held a steady job for 6 months after terminating ((which I also did, and had 2 jobs)).

Also, I had to wait 6 months from the day I self-termed to apply again. I tried once in between that, just to make sure, and that is what I was told when they called to do my phone interview.

Hope this helps!

So I just finished my interview and as I expected to be, I am a restricted rehire because of the disney store... They said they would be sending me paperwork because I will need to have to get the status lifted....

how long does it usually take to receive the paper work in email? She told me it could take up to 2 weeks! I want it now so I can fill it out and get it in!

Ok well i just did the fall advantage 2010 program. I successfully completed the program, i have one rep that i got at the end of the program. When i went to apply for fall 2011, after passing the interview i received and email saying that i have a no rehire status. And to also fill out the paper work. Now i wasn't understanding what was going on and felt that i received the message in error. So i called my manger right away and he told me this was true. I felt very disrespected. After that i called casting, they then looked over my record and said they don't see why i would have a no rehire status and that i should call my mangers to see what was going on and to see if i could get it lifted, Now i know thats one option thats not going to happen. So i called one manger that i figured would help me, i talked to him he said he didn't know anything about that, also he said he wasn't invited to the meeting and he thinks that very sneaky. Also he relocated. I was also told by two different coordinators to contact the head of the park that i was working at. I emailed him and still haven't heard anything back. But i did hear that the mangers were trying to figure out how i got the leader of the park email. So i think that he said something to them. Also my source said if they can't get it to stick that they would have to lift it. But i filled out the no rehire paper work almost 4 to 5 weeks ago. Honestly guys what do y'all think about this situation and what do you think would happen???
