In light of the recent terror attack in Orlando, I think Disney's security system is not good enough

I agree with the OP. Of all the times ive been to Disney, I always felt as though security was a joke. My bags were searched so quick, they never searched my family, our pockets, or anything. Over the last week, I guess they are finally doing a better job with bags. I still think every single person should have to go through the metal detectors though....I think its funny how some of you are joking about it backing up the lines. Since when is it ok for you or your families safety to be at risk because you'd rather not wait on a line and rush into the park to get on a ride? Sorry, but i'd rather wait a little longer to get in the park if it means my kids will be safer. If Disney can build 4 theme parks, have so many resorts, etc, I'm sure they can find a way to get everyone through a metal detector with minimal waits. They also need to search CM's, delivery trucks and everything coming in the "back door".

Many of you also talk about how you can go to your local grocery store or anywhere and you are at risk for a tragedy. Yes, this is true. However, Disney is likely a prime target for these maniacs, think about how many people could be at any given time at any location. Disney is a place loved by so many...if they really wanted to get us where it hurts, this is it. Thousands gather for the fireworks, parades, fantasmic....imagine the horror.

Yes, I understand there is security we don't see...still, if terrorists could attack a building as secure as the pentagon, who's to say it wouldn't be possible at Disney? Even with undercover security and cameras we don't know about?

I won't stop going to Disney because I won't give in to these crazy people but I do think WDW needs to step it up before something happens. Random security checks even after they realized this terrorist was scouting? Ridiculous.

Got randomly selected for a metal detector at DHS yesterday. It beeped when I went through. I think it was my sunglasses but they waved me on. Didn't make me take them off and go through again. Bag check has been pretty thorough this week.

If Disney's metal detector is anything like the one I used to man... On the back side, there are lights that indicate what part of your body set off the detector. If your torso or hips lite up, I am wanding or patting down. if your head inicates, I am just doing a visual check as you walk through.

again, my experience with Disney security leads me to believe that it's super easy to get weapons through.....why dont they check us like DCL does?

On our recent cruise (not DCL) we were only subject to bag check through standard x-ray machine and metal detector, same as now in place for random guest selections at park entrances. Yes your luggage may receive more inspection but again likely just an x-ray.

My recent experience with bag searches at WDW parks was that they were very through every time opening every pocket on bag and hand digging right to the bottom. Could someone still get a small handgun or knife through such a search (if not subject to random x-ray or metal detector), yes they could. Airport, WDW and cruise ship searches are all designed for large weapons, bombs etc..., x-ray and metal detectors for carrying or bagged weapons of any size. There is always the possibility someone could stil get a weapon through any type of security, but that does not mean such procedures are useless in fact they address most common and likely threats, no level of any security can protect everyone, everywhere, and all the time as someone with commitment and effort can still manage to get some form of weapon through most security checks.
