I'll admit it, I read PTR and TR like they're the latest Stephen King releases. I always think about writing one, often coming up with witty quips whilst falling into a slumber, but it never came full circle, until now! If my co-workers can listen to me spew Disney fun facts and gush about every last trip that I've ever taken (inclusive of those that I can't remember), it seems reasonable that people who actually like Disney will listen too. Right? Alright, enough about that, here we go!
That's me
, Kristen, in all of my Instagram glory. I'm 28-years-old and fully aware that I don't look a day over 18. I live right next door to Scranton, PA and have never once watched an episode of The Office. I did drink with the entire cast once upon a time though; they were in town for one of the "official conventions" and low and behold, came out the basement of my favorite bar. That was almost as random as the night I looked over and realized Keiffer Sutherland was sitting next to me. Good times were had in that place, back before I had a child and replaced "Beer Thirty" with "Bed at 8:30"! Continuing on, I'm a Registered Nurse in a long term care / skilled nursing facility. I also have a biochemistry degree. I guess you can say I didn't know what I wanted to do with life but in the end, I chose the right path. I've been going to The World since I was 6-months-old and completed trip #46 last month. Unless we're offered a pre-paid trip to somewhere fancy like London or Paris, I'll sight-see the world at the World Showcase.
There's DD Madeline, eating her udon noodles outside in Japan like a big girl. I told you we see the World. She's 3-years-young, lovable, huggable, kissable, and squeezable but also guarantees a "testing of patience and will" each and every day. Terrible 2's has nothing on these Tantrum 3's, and if someone were to guarantee me that we weren't heading for Frightful 4's I'd work 16-hour shifts, 7 days a week until her birthday, which is 10 months away. Her favorite word is "NOW!"; it's my least favorite one contained within Webster's pages. And if you ask her when she's going anywhere, you'll always get "In just 2 months!" as a response, hence this PTR title. She's been to WDW 5 times and, on the first 2, it was just the 2 of us. It was at her 2nd Birthday party that family members saw how excited she was over everything Disney and decided they wanted to come along too. Free babysitting? You mean, I can actually RIDE Space and not just stare at it lovingly? Woohoo!
There's my Gammy, Madeline's great-Gammy, and subsequently a photo of the 2 of them. Remember the free babysitting I mentioned? Here it is, in all it's glory - I was taking a spin on Big Thunder when this was snapped. Apparently I like leaving my unzipped handbag behind and am sincerely hoping it was DD playing in there and not some random passerby. Anywho, we won't get into "age" on this one as Gammy started using the internet last year and, I'm sure, will somehow stumble across this page despite there being billions of websites out there. She's awesome like that, and it was she and my Gampy (or, as my brother called him, Bambi - no joke!) who instilled a love of all things Disney in me. Back in 1984 I was 6-months-old and they decided I "needed" to see Walt Disney World. I had such a good time on THAT trip that we went back twice a year for well over the following decade! Gammy's a smart woman and has owned her own business, a children's clothing store, since the early 1960's. Gampy passed away in 2004 and not a day passes that I don't think of him. Gam's at "that age" where she's thinking of selling her store but this is something she's been talking about for years. When it does happen I'm sure we'll all be shocked but honestly, I'd love to see her just kick up her feet and relax (a word that isn't in her "I go to Vegas every other month" vocab).
That's Auntie Mickey on the far right letting Madeline watch "Ariel" on the iPhone. Her name really isn't Mickey, it's Cathy, but she started calling herself "Mickey" at the tender age of 1 and 55 years later, it's still stuck. A completely random tidbit: my (paternal) Grammy's name was Minnie, really. We truly are a Disney family, aren't we?
Auntie began her college career as a nursing student, found herself in the oh-so-popular elective of Molecular Biology and we now have a doctor on our hands. She's probably the smartest person you'll ever meet and can pronounce, spell and use words longer than this sentence in proper context. She also owns several biotech companies, 2 of which went "public" not long ago, and works satellite for 2 others. She's a busy lady and moved to Florida last summer because her love of the Mouse is just as strong as mine.
My mother also accompanies us on our voyages but I have no pictures to share, at least on this computer. We don't get along too well and never have, and while on vacation together tend to go our separate ways. That's all I'm going to say in regard to that.
BUT, I will share my all-time favorite picture! This was taken shortly after I returned from my first trip, also pictured are my Gampy, Auntie Mickey, and Pugsley the Cat. I still have those Ears!
Welcome aboard this Disney-bound train, set to take on The World beginning October 23! Stay tuned because there's more, lots more, to come!
