Just wanted to share a few from a homecoming I shot this week. This unit had lost 7 Marines this deployment, and everyone was so relieved to have their family member home. They have been gone almost an entire year now, between pre-deployment training and the actual deployment.

They arrived at the base around 2:30 AM, but still had to turn in weapons and unload bags behind a locked fence. Her husband found a few minutes to sneak away and get their first kiss through a fence.

ETA - Sorry they're so large! I resized them through Photobucket, but they're still showing up large for some reason.

These were taken last week at Arlington. Our scouts got to lay the wreath that day. It was pouring down rain and these were taken with my son's P&S, but we had a great day.

My Memorial Day contribution. A few weeks ago Prospect Hill Cemetary recreated its war on terrorism flag memorial in which a flag is placed on their hillside in honor and memory of each soldier lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. The flags are removed each winter and then replaced in the spring. Anyone can participate to recreate the memorial and place flags. This year 5285 flags were placed in just under an hour. The second picture is the banner that was dedicated that day in honor of my nephew, SSG Marc Small. All soldiers with local family ties have banners with a picture placed along the street.

This is a service picture of my grandfather Lauren. He was a radio man out on a boat during the Invasion of Normandy. Thank the lord that he survived WWII or I would not be here. He passed away about a decade ago and I want to take this time to thank him for his service to our nation and to tell him that he is loved and missed by his family.

These are at our local park, and the statues are all carved from wood.

Spent some time at the Wall on Memorial Day on Monday. Always a very emotional place to be, but seemed even moreso on Memorial Day. I'm proud to have served for 24 years, but my contribution seems so meager compared to what so many others have given.
