In event of emergency, where does Disney relocate cabin guests?

Last time I was in Disney , hurricane Wilma hit. We were staying in ASMu adn were very comfortable until it passed. (It was not nearly as bad as they were expecting, but still, not knowing, I felt safe)

I remember at that time that the people staying in the cabins were evacuated to other properties for the storm. This time we are going during hurricane season again, and are staying in the cabins. Does anyone know where they relocate people to?

The most likely resort, based on past hurricane evacuations, is Port Orleans-Riverside. There apparently are several buildings there that WDW does not rent out during hurricane season in case this need arises.

WDW management takes this very seriously, and in the past, guests have been given plenty of warning, so that the evacuation can happen as smoothly as possible.

Ok, thanks, good to know. That was a small worry in the back of my head that was nagging at me. If the resorts were full, I didn't want to have to be looking off-site at last minute.

A couple of years ago when we were at the Fort, we were evacuated because of a hurricane. Not sure of the name, but it was the one that passed over Miami... Anyway, we were evacuated to the All Stars Sports on Sunday evening and allowed to return to the Fort on Tuesday morning....

Even though I heard alot of folks complaining because of the inconvenience of having to relocate, I personally thought Disney did a great job of getting everyone to a safe spot..... I guess there are always whiners in every crowd...

I would not worry a bit of where you would go (in that instance), Disney will do everything in its power to keep you and your family safe....

WE were evacluated several times : Wilma, Frances and Jeanne

Once it was Port Orleans Riverside
Once Port Orleans French Quarter
Once All Star Resort

They put flashlights in the rooms and provide special children's activities in the lobby of each resort. Believe or not my kids hula hooped with Minnie during one of the storms. While most children are scared of hurricanes...mine love them! No school and 1 on 1 time with Characters!

Disney is on the ball! THEY NEVER LOSE POWER due to having their own underground power plant!

Well, I'm going to PRAY that doesn't happen during our trip or we might starve. LOL We've only budgeted to do most of our meals in our trailer- we haven't budgeted staying somewhere else and having to buy food for our family of 5 (a considerable cost difference than cooking on our own, as I'm sure you are all well aware of). So Lord PLEASE no hurricane that week! LOL

I feel the same way. The reason we are staying in the cabins is we can't afford the dining plan for our family of 6. I was planning on preparing most of our meals myself. That was one of my beggest concerns...we would need a family suite or similar.
